    A "pepperoni pizza"
    Joseph L.

I'm normally not a complainer about food for me to pay 4 dollars and some change for a slice of pizza and have 3 slices of pepperonis on each of them was very Annoying. If the pizza at least tasted good I could get past what was lacking . Not sure why they would consider this acceptable. The guy that helped was nice . They placed looked very nice and clean though . I hope the recipe standards change so I can return one day.

Salad bar (this is just one half of the salad section)

In downtown Sacramento on K Street, right behind the Hyatt Hotel, is Upper Crust Pizza. It has a pretty good weekday lunch pizza and salad buffet. For $14 and some change, you can get an All You Can Eat (AYCE) buffet. The pizzas are pepperoni, Hawaiian, and vegetarian. The salad bar has two types of lettuce mix, lots of toppings, potato salad, and pesto pasta salad. The bar also includes a hot soup and garlic, cheese pizza sticks. The pizzas are yummy. Yeasty bready crust. Oohh it smells and tastes great. The cheese and sauce were tasty. The salad bar had a variety of options. Solid pizza and salad lunch buffet. They are not stingy and do keep the buffet pizzas coming out. The salad bar was amply stocked and replenished as well. Everything looked gorgeously fresh... plump cherry tomatoes, green crisp lettuce mix, sliced firm mushrooms. Surprisingly my favorite item in the salad bar was the pesto pasta salad. I say surprisingly because it looked very simply made. But the pasta had a perfect doneness, not chewy nor mushy, and a good pesto flavor. If you are not in the mood for a buffet for lunch, no worries. They have other menu options such as whole pizzas (various sizes) and sandwiches (hot and cold choices).

    Combo and Pepperoni Pizza

Combo - 8.5/10 Has mushrooms, green bell peppers, ham, sausage, onion, pepperoni and olives. Good sauce to crust ratio with amazing cheese pull and topping ratio. Definitely recommend. Pepperoni - 7/10 Great ratio of cheese, sauce, and crust. Good base for more stuff. Artichoke - 5/10 Not a fan of the white sauce. The artichoke is fine, had chicken, red onion, and ham too, I think. Meat - 6.5/10 Had sausage, ham, and pepperoni. Too little toppings but a good sauce to crust ratio.

This has quickly become my go to spot for pizza. I come here at least once a week to get my pizza fix. They have a lunch buffet that's reasonable and I can get 2 slices for a few bucks off the buffet. I will typically just order a mini pizza and snack on that for lunch. Ingredients are great and the staff are so nice! For sure I recommend them for a very delicious, simple lunch.

It's not five star dining, but it is good if you're hungry for pizza! Pizza buffet offers lots of seating and they work hard to ensure the pizza buffet is always full with fresh pizza that is good.

Unmasked worker drinking beer and having a chat in the kitchen. I didn't order my pizza with a side of Covid.

When you pay, you also enter your phone number so they will let you know when the sandwich is ready. They were busy, as it was lunchtime. Still the sandwich came quickly. I got the text that my sandwich was ready at the same time that they called my name. The sandwich was very good. I liked their aïoli and the vinaigrette, you could tell that they were good quality, meats, and the veggies were very fresh. They were very generous with the fillings. I had it on sourdough, and it was a very good quality sourdough as well. I ordered a small sandwich, and it was enough to fill me up. For what I got, the price was extremely reasonable. I would definitely come back. Thanks for the suggestion, yelp!

Upon walking in, the music was so loud it was overstimulating, making it hard to even hear the cashier. They were already out of sourdough and wheat bread, and the Arnold Palmer I ordered tasted almost entirely like lemonade. The sandwiches were prepared quickly and looked great initially, but while eating mine, I bit down on something hard and spit out a piece of glass. Finding glass in food is a serious safety hazard that could cause severe harm. I called immediately, and they offered a refund or a replacement sandwich. When I returned around 3:15 PM, the shop was closing early because they ran out of bread entirely. When I mentioned my call to the staff member up front, she dismissed me, saying she couldn't help because they were out of bread. After I clarified that I just wanted the refund I agreed on with the manager, she handed me off to someone else without another word. Instead of an apology for serving a dangerous foreign object in my food, the staff handed me cash (even though I paid by card) and essentially brushed me off with a poor attitude. Mistakes happen, but finding glass in my meal combined with zero accountability or basic customer service ensures I will never return

For starters, Ike's has its own way of doing things: plain mayo is not their thing. Only way to get plain mayo on a sandwich is to get lucky that there's a smidgen still left in a jar in the fridge after they prepare their house spread. They mix GARLIC and gawd knows what else for spices to make their Ike's sauce, so allergies beware. They offer plain mustard, but not plain mayo? For seconds, the sandwich bread is not up to the challenge of holding together the mountain of fillings inside. Pics prove my point. I want to eat a sandwich with my hands, not a plastic fork (or a shovel). And I don't want to wear it, not in public. Proportions, people! One size does not fit all. Now, in fairness, the meat, cheese, lettuce and tomato were fresh, chilled, and flavorful. However, IMHO $2.00+ to add equivalent of half an avocado is robbery when a whole avocado is $1 in the market. Fortunately I arrived when there wasn't another person in the store so I was able order up a plain ham and cheese sub with L, T, and A. The counter person was patient as I attempted to navigate the menu board. I communicated my wish for a simple sandwich and it arrived, albeit ridiculously overstuffed and above my budget expectations. Props for kindness and understanding. My first visit to any shop is always testing how well they do basics. So far, I'm not an Ike's fan. I'm no newcomer to sub sandwiches. At 82, and being a Massachusetts native, I've been a sub girl for at least 75 years, ever since I could wrap my fingers around the perfect sub roll.
