    A "pepperoni pizza"
    Joseph L.

I'm normally not a complainer about food for me to pay 4 dollars and some change for a slice of pizza and have 3 slices of pepperonis on each of them was very Annoying. If the pizza at least tasted good I could get past what was lacking . Not sure why they would consider this acceptable. The guy that helped was nice . They placed looked very nice and clean though . I hope the recipe standards change so I can return one day.

Salad bar (this is just one half of the salad section)

In downtown Sacramento on K Street, right behind the Hyatt Hotel, is Upper Crust Pizza. It has a pretty good weekday lunch pizza and salad buffet. For $14 and some change, you can get an All You Can Eat (AYCE) buffet. The pizzas are pepperoni, Hawaiian, and vegetarian. The salad bar has two types of lettuce mix, lots of toppings, potato salad, and pesto pasta salad. The bar also includes a hot soup and garlic, cheese pizza sticks. The pizzas are yummy. Yeasty bready crust. Oohh it smells and tastes great. The cheese and sauce were tasty. The salad bar had a variety of options. Solid pizza and salad lunch buffet. They are not stingy and do keep the buffet pizzas coming out. The salad bar was amply stocked and replenished as well. Everything looked gorgeously fresh... plump cherry tomatoes, green crisp lettuce mix, sliced firm mushrooms. Surprisingly my favorite item in the salad bar was the pesto pasta salad. I say surprisingly because it looked very simply made. But the pasta had a perfect doneness, not chewy nor mushy, and a good pesto flavor. If you are not in the mood for a buffet for lunch, no worries. They have other menu options such as whole pizzas (various sizes) and sandwiches (hot and cold choices).

    Combo and Pepperoni Pizza

Combo - 8.5/10 Has mushrooms, green bell peppers, ham, sausage, onion, pepperoni and olives. Good sauce to crust ratio with amazing cheese pull and topping ratio. Definitely recommend. Pepperoni - 7/10 Great ratio of cheese, sauce, and crust. Good base for more stuff. Artichoke - 5/10 Not a fan of the white sauce. The artichoke is fine, had chicken, red onion, and ham too, I think. Meat - 6.5/10 Had sausage, ham, and pepperoni. Too little toppings but a good sauce to crust ratio.

Mini pizza with sausage, green pepper and pepperoni.

This has quickly become my go to spot for pizza. I come here at least once a week to get my pizza fix. They have a lunch buffet that's reasonable and I can get 2 slices for a few bucks off the buffet. I will typically just order a mini pizza and snack on that for lunch. Ingredients are great and the staff are so nice! For sure I recommend them for a very delicious, simple lunch.

It's not five star dining, but it is good if you're hungry for pizza! Pizza buffet offers lots of seating and they work hard to ensure the pizza buffet is always full with fresh pizza that is good.

Unmasked worker drinking beer and having a chat in the kitchen. I didn't order my pizza with a side of Covid.
    Jerry A.

This is a pizza place I frequent. The pizza is always good. You can count on it being the same . ( I mean that in a good way) but today, I was a bit grossed out. As bad as Covid is popping off here in Sac. To my horror one of the employees? Friend of an employee? Not sure. But, this guy swigging a beer, no mask on, wanders into the kitchen to chat up the cooks. Standing in front of the prep table talking with no mask on. I don't think I can eat here again. This should be common sense.

Whether it is sushi or common Chinese dishes or even Mongolian barbeque, this place has it and all hotly cooked. You can definitely tell none of the food was frozen and reheated, but cooked in the back woks. The turnover in food helps to keep things fresher even if the quality isn't the best. I particularly like the hot Chinese dishes, the pork chops, teriyaki chicken, grilled chicken, stir fry veggies, broccoli beef, and some of them dim sum items like the siu mai and baos are pretty good even if not gourmet. The Mongolian BBQ is fresh and hot, my kids like to make their own creations and I usually get a plate there too. The sushi is pretty basic stuff, but they get creative, there was a mango topped one that's new today and it was pretty good. Their usual ones are good too. I like that there's a vast array of meat dishes here especially. Seating can easily accommodate a large party and multiple servers are always available to help. They are quite quick to take away used plates and silverware, and they wipe down tables fast too. They are friendly and will refill your drinks quickly too. Not fancy at all, very casual, but still they have kept this place up except for the dingy carpet. Prices are reasonable and there's senior discount of 10% and only kids 11 and over are considered adults. All in all, not anything special here, but there's freshness and variety, and it's a place where everyone can get what they want so no one should have to complain.

Only difference is, the set up is set so there's basically 3 lines: Entrees, Mongolian BBQ, Dessert So it can get easily piled. As for food options: The oysters had a light sauce on it, I didn't taste much. Could have work better with some sort of dipping sauce. Bring your own I guess? Cream cheese ragoons was good. the chicken on a stick was okay, a bit dry. the peking was okay. most of the food is exactly what you expect. Ice cream had a really confusing sign. It says "To go is not part of buffet package. Also Additional charge for ice cream." So is this additional charge for everyone? Mongolian was below standard. There is next to no sauce, so if you don't get the ginger and chili pepper. you have no flavor. he pours some oil on it, but that's about it. for choices there was; thin beef, pork, and steak. DO NOT GET THE STEAK! the chef overcooked it. it was tough and chewy. Service was nice though. They refilled my soda often.

We were able to make it before 4:00 pm, when lunch prices change to dinner. The food was okay. I can always count on the salad, fried chicken and rolls to be satisfied. For dinner, they also provide steak, but trying it twice, my pieces were very chewy, even medium rare, so I gave up. You pretty much had to depend on sight because the labels did not coincide with the food. For example, the turnip greens were labeled fish, etc. The variety is helpful when don't quite know what you want, and great being able to try whatever you want, but I stuck to a drumstick, mashed potatoes and gravy, greens, a salad and a roll, after letting the steak go. I was pretty full after that and wanted to grab a cotton candy to go but they were out. When I asked if they were making more, they said 10 minutes. The table attendants were very efficient. The moment I left my table to get more food, my dirty plates were removed and the table wiped. My ONLY complaint is that the food, once it reached my plate, was not as hot as it appeared to be on the steam tables. This distracted from the food quality. However, the seasoning was really good on most everything. If you're hungry and like seafood and a variety of other foods and don't want to spend a lot of money, Sakura should hit the spot.

The cost for one adult (as of July 2026) during Monday to Friday lunchtime, comes to $18.31 after tax, if only drinking water. $21.53 after tax if you order a drink/soda. I noticed a HUGE amount of cherries in the fruit section, so I went for those. The fifth or sixth cherry had white mold. I said "uh oh" and a nearby male presenting worker said "why, what's wrong?" so I showed them. They said "oh it's probably the cream". I put that cherry back, plus the ones I got initially. My plate was clean, so there is no mixed food contamination. Two workers went to the cherries and started going through it. What I'm wondering is how did "cream" get in the cherries and they haven't been opened for 10 minutes yet? And how did cream get on a cherry under a pile of cherries? The only other gross thing was the water. It was from the sink. Not filtered. If you've ever had Sacramento public water, you understand how atrocious it tastes. The rest of the food, was actually pretty good! Granted we arrived when they opened, but all the food was laid out/presented well. There are lots of chicken related dishes. I recommend the black pepper chicken. It's got a crunchy, almost candied exterior like Korean fried chicken.

Well, I'm really glad I met my friend for lunch here today. It was delicious! The space is small inside with wooden picnic style table and benches giving this place a hole in the wall feel. We were given two menus and an ordering sheet to check off the items we want. I love self-ordering like this because I can take my time. I hate feel rushing and end up ordering too much food! Thanks to other fellow Yelper's reviews. I knew I wanted to try the Clay Pot Rice. We got the Medium Ribs with Black Bean Sauce. It's enough for 2 or 3 people to share. Scooping out the burned and crunchy rice on the bottom of the pot was the best part. So satisfying when you get a spoonful of the really crunchy part. I wish there were more meat/ribs but I remember you can add additional items for few extra bucks. I'll keep that in mind the next time. Yes, I plan to bring my boys here soon. We order 7 different barbeque skewers and they were all delicious and flavorful. You can tell the meat has been well marinated. You can select spicy or non-spicy. Each order comes in two pieces. It was the perfect amount of food for two of us. I recommend and will likely order again are Chicken Gizzards, Sausages, Beef an definitely Bacon Shrimp. If I had to pick only one, it would be the Bacon Shrimp. The bacon is securely wrapped around the shrimp and making the shrimp very juicy and flavorful. The waitress also pointed us to some self serve cold herbal tea that's mildly sweetened. It was surprisingly good. In traditional Chinese medicine, herbal teas are used to balance the body's internal environment and clear excess heat. It's very fitting to drink the herbal tea after eating all the barbeque meats! Happy to finally try this place and looking forward to trying more dishes next time.
