Visiting from out out of town and happily stumbled upon the olive tree. Nicely decorated and food was great. We had calamari and crab dip all of which were very fresh and delicious! The included Salad and breadsticks were a nice addition to the table . We had stuffed shells, sausage bolognese, shrimp and crab tortellini and kids raviolis. I am a local and I've loved this restaurant since its start. I won't stop going here because the food is/was some of the best in town. I know costs are high and business down these days. One thing you can't do when your a popular restaurant is cut corners. I ordered crab cakes for carryout. This is my second chance on trying them as the last time I was disappointed. This go was just horrible. The cake was mostly breading. I'll say bread crumbs because thats all I tasted, Italian bread crumbs. The crab was a cheap canned crab. On my visit I tried the Shrimp and crap tortellini. It was very satisfying! The tortellini was cooked to perfection and the creamy sauce was great! Crab cakes are the best in Harford County in my opinion. Lump crab meat and not a lot of filler and no shells. Marinara with meat sauce was excellent too and we love their cole slaw. I highly recommend this establishment. They even have a drive thru window which is a great idea during this time and outdoor seating was fixed up cute. read more

This place has been here for as long as I can remember, and there's a reason why. Their food is amazing! So much better than a chain like Olive Garden. Every time I visit, I try something different, and I'm never disappointed (though I think the shrimp Milano is always my favorite!). Salad is crisp and fresh and the breadsticks are to die for. Their sangria is also killer. Only problem is the service has been a bit subpar the last two times I've been, unfortunately. The servers are sweet enough, and the food comes out quick - but then it will be a long time before you see your server again for refills or the bill! They are cutting costs in places that will hurt a business like this. Not including salads with every meal. The pizza (which used to be great) is now worse than frozen store-bought. They even printed on the receipt not to include utensils as a default. I hope they are doing ok, but it's a shame to see a HC staple like this go downhill. read more

I wish half stars were available. I didnt have a terrible experience but it wasn't outstanding. It definitely felt like a chain/hotel type of restaurant. It's pretty spacious inside. The parking lot wasn't too big but it's connected to a shopping center so their lot is available I suppose. I opted for sitting st the bar. There were quite a few people in there and I happened to go in right as happy hour started. I didnt know what I wanted when I walked in and the menu wasn't too complicated to figure out so I decided to go for the personal pizza and steamed shrimp. The pizza was kinda doughy.. it didn't feel cooked thru it reminded of a Chuck E cheese pizza lol its been years since I've had one of those but I ate it because I was starving. The small serving of steamed shrimp wasn't too bad they were big in size but also semi dry....not as moist as I've had at other places. This was my first time here. I wouldn't seek this place out to go again but maybe if I pass it and im hungry I might try them and order something else read more

Third visit in 2018. Nothing spectacular. No MAJOR complaints. 6p ish on a Monday nite was seated immediately. Sat for 10min before getting up and walking to the four hostesses doing nothing and asked if they would direct my server to me Interesting they felt a need to have at least 4 hosts on a Monday nite, but seemingly short waitstaff Food didn't take long and was presentable. My veal came w a side of pasta. I asked for pasta fettuccine. Apparently they charge an additional $2 if you actually put cheese sauce on the side pasta. Veal was floating in a soupy mixture: purportedly a Marsala wine sauce. But more like soup. It wasn't awful, but also wasn't terrific. The ménage trios red was tarter than I'm used to. Main course, one glass of wine, and tip was $35. Overall it wasn't worth it Atmosphere is loud so don't go if you have a hearing aid. Can't say that I WONT return. But not of my own volition. Atmosphere is relaxed and decor is put together. I've been for lunch and for dinner, and neither time disappointed. Bottom line- This place is a gem hidden amongst your average fare!! I apologize up front as I completely spaced and forgot to take phots the other night. Five of us headed to the Olive Tree for dinner following a conference we were attending. From the moment we walked in the service we received was attentive and thorough. Our drinks never went dry and our server was very knowledgeable. We started with a couple appetizers of garlic mussels and crab dip... super tastey... plenty for everyone... demolished in quick fashion. For our entrees we enjoyed a mix of pizzas and pasta dishes. The two pizzas were personal size but full of fresh toppings with a well cooked crust. I believe they both were sausage and pepperoni with lots of gooey cheese! Personally I had the shrimp and lump crab penne pasta... all pasta dishes were big!! Ample portions but not quite family size. This wasn't a bunch of pasta with a few shrimp and pieces of crab... it was packed full of luscious rich crab meat and plump shrimp with a flavorful cream sauce and sliced asparagus. One of the best Italian dishes I've ever eaten to be honest. I barely finished it and I'm a pretty big guy. My other coworkers enjoyed the baked ziti equally. For me, a true test of an Italian restaurant is their tiramisu... it best not be some frozen knockoff... WOW!! This was homemade, light and spongy, soaked with espresso, packed with creamy mascarpone and topped with a dark, rich coating of cocoa powder on top! I told my coworkers I hadn't had tiramisu this good since a trip overseas and I meant it. Ultimately you must get to the Olive Tree and try it for yourself. I'll be back there every time I'm in Aberdeen and may even plan a trip or two just so I can get some more of that delicious food!! read more

This was the first time I had been in the Olive Tree in some time, and I was surprised! They are near the end of some big changes inside with decor and coloration. While they aren't truly finished yet, still have paint tape on the walls, you can tell it will be a wonderful look when completed. It seemed a lot brighter with many bronze lighting fixtures. However, it wasn't too bright with the use of Edison style bulbs. Our waitress had a small hiccup with our drinks, forgetting one of the people in our party a couple of times at the initial order, but was attentive and frequented the table the rest of the time. The complimentary salad and breadsticks came along with an order of crab wontons and a cup Maryland crab soup. The house made dressing covered the salad perfectly and everyone was able to get enough of the extras inside with no problem. The wontons were fried to perfection and came with a sauce I never got the name of. They were a good pair and garnered no complaints from those who tried. The crab soup arrived at a hot yet ready to eat temperature. There was a decent amount of crab, but with any crab soup, there could be more. However, each bite was filled with vegetables. Two drinks were ordered, the rum punch martini and the passion fruit mango frozen margarita. The alcohol in each drink was not overpowering and was blended well so that all the flavors could be enjoyed. The entrees ordered consisted of chicken piccata, chicken Chesapeake, a crabcake, seafood milano, and seafood fettuccini. The kids shared a delicious cheese pizza. The food all arrived piping hot and received grated cheese if requested. My dish was the chicken piccata, which was served in a lemon wine sauce with tomatoes and capers. I had the mushrooms removed. The sauce was so flavorful and savory it truly makes the dish. I even put some with my side of pasta that already had marinara on it! The portions were plentiful and everyone decided to pass on dessert with nowhere to put it. I enjoyed my time at Olive Tree and can't wait to go back and see the finished product. read more

I was in the Aberdeen area for business and decided to give the Olive Tree a shot since it was directly across from my Comfort Inn & Suites. I met a friend here for dinner and had a pretty nice time! I sat at the bar area (on the left when you first walk in the door) and ordered a Heavy Seas Beer, followed by a Blue Moon. They have a couple domestic beers on tap and they're around $4.50 each. They also have a nice wine/liquor selection. I had heard great things about their crab soups, so I tried the cream of crab. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but pretty good! I then ordered salmon with vegetables and white rice. The salmon was juicy and delicious and the rice was a nice side dish. The vegetables were steamed but had basically no flavor. Overall, the dish was good enough to be something I'd order again. They also have bread and salad while you wait for your meal. Their house dressing is fantastic! read more

Most of the time I can rely upon my fellow Yelpers for great restaurant recommendations. My family and I did for The Olive Tree to come for lunch on the way home from NC. I know they'll be some outlier reviews which I can cast aside and go with a majority to get an idea about what to expect. Unfortunately, you Yelpers got it wrong with this one! The food was edible but not flavorful except for the Maryland Crab soup the wife had which she really thought was quite good. Started with appetizers of calamari and mozzarella sticks. It's not a good start when the waitress advises that they are "hot right out of the grease." It certainly doesn't make them sound appetizing. They were ok. The marinara sauce was definitely prepackaged. The calamari were plentiful on the plate and just bland without seasoning. They also probably came out of a plastic bag before going in the fryer. Kids had chicken parm which had the same sauce, and a nice piece of mozzarella cheese which also came with a side of spaghetti. Again, both kids said it was just ok and probably pre-made frozen. Wife had a caprice panini which was a rather pathetic looking bread with lines seared into it with nothing inside to make it taste better than it looked - bland. Fries were ok. I started with a bowl of cream crab soup. I finished most of it but it, too, was too thick, unsavory, and really did not have crab within it or real taste. I then had a greens with beets and walnut salad. I ate the beets and most walnuts which were fine, but the dressing of oil and something was not properly mixed and made the entire salad bitter and difficult to enjoy and eat. It was quite large and would have been filling, but just about the entire greens went in the trash. My family and I were quite disappointed with The Olive Tree. They also offer the unlimited breadsticks and salad (which had way too much dressing glooped on). We tried to determine if they are in any way related to the Olive Garden (which I would be made to think they get some business in the confusion and similar offerings), but could not make that determination. So, if you're into average to below average, come to The Olive Tree. I'm not trying to come across as I know everything there is to know about food, but my family and I was just bamboozled by some much better reviews. I'll be avoiding similar sounding restaurants to chains in the future, and you should, too. Service was very friendly and accommodating. $95 for four with appetizers, entrees, and drinks. read more

This place was recommended to me by one of my managers while I was out traveling for work in Baltimore. The place was a lot classier than I expected, at least an Olive Garden feel. They had a decent selection of seafood entrees for lunch and I ordered the crab Mac and cheese. This was one of the best Mac and cheese dishes I have ever had, the cheese was bold enough to balance the seafood Mix and the pasta was cooked to the right hardness to make a perfect texture. Olive Tree is still one of our favorite restaurant's. Salad and breadsticks as soon as your seated is a plus. Although the seating changes that were made several years ago to hard seats and no booths which blocked the different conversations from echoing thorough out the place like it does now has deterred us sometimes from going here. I feel for the waitstaff because it is so loud. The recipes for the lasagne and crabcake entrees seemed to have been changed recently it seems. Neither is quite as good as they used to be but the pasta with marinara or pink sauce are delicious. Chicken and Shrimp alfredo are delicious. Pork Chops are good and so is the orange roughy. We love the good service from the waitstaff. Hope they eventually fix the seating and sound problems. read more

The bread sticks and salad are classic remind you of some other place I've even tried a few different entrees and have never been dissatisfied. Crab wontons and crab dip are always delicious! Arrived and was greeted by a very pleasant hostess. There was a short wait but I could be seated right away if I sat at the bar, so I chose to sit at the bar. The bartender was nice as well. First I ordered the Peach Crush (alcoholic version, ). It was very tasty. For my dinner I ordered the Seafood Fettuccine (crab meat, scallops, and shrimp) with extra Alfredo sauce plus a salad with ranch, no onions. They were out of ranch, so I got their house dressing instead. Salad also came with breadsticks. The house dressing was good. Reminds me of olive gardens dressing. The pasta was hot and very good. The portions were amazing! I got so full, so quick. And they didn't skimp on the Seafood. Atmosphere was great. Music was good. They had the game going on the tvs. A little pricey but definitely work it for the amount of food you get. I would definitely return again in the future next time I return for a work.
