This place had a super chill vibe. The reason I don't give it a great fantastic rating is that is just what it was a chill place with chill food, nothing crazy or innovative, just old recipes that are timeless. I am interested in coming back here for the burger they are known for, but when I was here it was all about brunch, which they are lacking on. Her shrimp (blackened) were over cooked and her grits were extremely thick (not creamy at all) and had a bit too much smoke flavor which overpowered everything. I used to love this place and would go as often as I could, but will not be returning. I went Thursday and got my same order, chicken fried chicken and fries with regular white gravy. The good part was the fries, they were fresh (hence the 2 star). The bad part was the rest, the toast was dry and cold, the gravy was thin and unflavored, the chicken fried chicken was over cooked and lacking flavor. I went with friends who got the chicken fried chicken with jalapeño gravy and the smoked Gouda grits as a side. They did not like the grits and said they were not smoked and could not taste the Gouda. Even my other friend who had a grilled chicken sandwich was not impressed with how they took off the ability to make his own "burger" which took away a jalapeño bun choice. It was a few minutes late when I picked it up like 15 minutes late but when I got back to my office I had a delicious salad in front of me the chicken was juicy and all white meat and had a wonderful flavor the salad itself was fresh and the dressing was homemade and unbelievably tasty. It's my first time to eat at this restaurant and I will definitely back be back again and again and again! My wife and I were headed to the Olive Oil, but we decided to give the Omega a try. I had the chicken fried chicken with jalapeño gravy and my wife had the French onion soup with a Caesar salad. Bottom line, we enjoyed our meal and the service was solid. I liked the jalapeño gravy and thought it was an interesting option. My wife loved her French onion soup, but felt the Caesar dressing needed a bit more zip (she is spoiled for Caesar salads by Pappadeaux's, which she considers to be the "gold standard"). I would consider the Omega Grill a very good dining option along Sawdust. It's off to a great start and I am sure it will get only better over time. read more
