Blueberry pancakes, home fries & eggs, French toast

My bf and I visited Oregon for the first time, and decided to stop and grab breakfast before heading home. The food was below my expectations, my potatoes were undercooked, eggs overcooked and my pancakes were lacking flavor. The service was quite quick and we appreciated this, however, our waitress didn't have a very welcoming demeanor at all, and at each request she wasn't very thrilled to fulfill them. The ambiance was extremely loud with no music playing. I truly would not recommend eating at this establishment.

A great little breakfast house chain that started in Portland. This one is right off of campus and when parents are in town for university or some sort of sporting event expect a wait. Well worth it too. I went with the green chile omelette and a side of biscuits and gravy..Allgood! I had some fresh squeezed orange juice that hit the spot. All Ducks sport pictures cover the walls. SCO Ducks!

We were lucky and came around 8:30 on a Sunday, beating the crowds. We were seated right away but there was a full waiting room when we left. This is a no frills old fashioned diner with an extensive menu so something for everyone. I was feeling simple so I ordered a scramble and the pancakes on the side. The pancakes are everything you would want, fluffy and flavorful. The scramble was simple, like something you would make at home. I only wish the menu offered more combinations to be able to try more dishes because they all sounded so good. Having a pancake sampler or the option to upgrade sides would be a nice touch.

Still the best pancakes and coffee in the universe. The omelettes are fantastic too. Given the great service and extensive menu it's no wonder this the original best breakfast restaurant in Oregon.

I couldn't remember the pancake my wife got. Maybe banana?? Regardless, it was great. I got the pancake meal. The bacon was the best. Nice and thick bacon. Cooked to perfection. The service was great. The ambiance was a typical diner. I loved it. The staff was all college kids and it brings a great atmosphere.

We decided to stop by The Original Pancake House because they had a lot of Gluten free options. My husband had wanted the gluten free crepes they had on the menu, but they no longer had them. They he asked which items he could get as gluten free but our server didn't really offer many ideas so he went for plain pancakes. I ordered the French crepes. Portions were a good size for the price but I thoughts my crepes were just Ok. My husband doesn't usually have an opportunity to get gluten free pancakes and he said these are great. I would've given this place a 3 but chose to give it a 4 due to my husbands happiness over these pancakes.

If you're looking for classic American breakfasts with traditional diner style service, you can't go wrong with The Original Pancake House. This one is located near U of O, so if you're visiting a friend or have a kid that goes to school there, this is a great spot for breakfast. We went around 8:30 to try to avoid a long wait, which I had read usually starts around 9-ish on game days. It was perfect timing. We were able to get a parking spot in their small lot (there is also street parking all around), and waited maybe only 5 minutes before we were seated. The pancakes are, of course, the focus here. My husband got the apple pancakes and they were tasty. Our son ordered the French toast, which was also fluffy and delish. I got the eggs benedict and it was the perfect hearty breakfast. I asked for crispy bacon, and they delivered. Service was good; the servers were all friendly. You get your tab at the table and then pay up front at the cash register. There's a coffee refill station where you can help yourself, too.

I got the grilled cheese sandwich offering, but also decided to try their Dubai brownie and a pistachio hot chocolate. First, my only issue, it was a little confusing to order. There was a kiosk where you order yourself in one window, then in the next window there was a spot you could order with someone. I don't know if you could order the same things at both sections, I'd assume so. But this is a very minima thing. As soon as I was ordering an employee greeted me and if I hadn't figured it out I'm sure I could've asked. Now the good stuff- the sandwich was amazing. I believe it's just offered for this month, but I'd happily try their other offerings. The flavors were balanced, it was a good portion, it was hit, fresh ingredients. The Dubai brownie and hot chocolate were also excellent. Rich, chocolate Lu, everything you want. They make the pistachio sauce for the hot chocolate in house from what I was told, and i could taste it. Adding a couple nice espresso shots would make an amazing mocha too. They have a pretty extensive list of Dubai items, so if you haven't tried it or you love it they have a great selection from cookies and cheesecakes to strawberry cups and the hot chocolate. It's set in the 5th street public market, a couple chairs and tables around. When it's busy it might be hard to find a seat, but it's a neat location and easy to take to go. Definitely worth checking out!

The rye bread was on point too! Delicious... I will be ordering this again! Energy drink was interesting... good flavor, although I could not say what flavor it was, lol! Pickle was good too! After finishing the sandwich, I had to get a couple of Macarons too. I have never had them before, and wanted to see what all the hype was about. I think I have a new favorite cookie, lol... I will be craving these, very good! Highly recommended!

Well to be honest I have not been to the truck…read moresince it was sold, and even before then I didn't go much because I never went to Ninkasi where it used to be located. Fast forward to now, we moved to Veneta not long ago. I had been passing by the truck parked in the lot at Grocery Outlet, and I have been seeing a lot of posts, and activity about the truck on my Facebook. They have some pulled pork taco's topped with strawberries, Serrano cream cheese, spinach, and a balsamic reduction that have definitely caught my eye. Well I finally had a chance to try them out. Let me tell you. They did not disappoint. I wasn't able to get a pic because someone picked them up for me, and I was too hungry to snap pics. Also I had to pick onions off, which was fine. My guy probably forgot to ask for no onion. The flavors with the pulled pork, balsamic glaze, and strawberries really go well together. I thoroughly enjoyed each bite. I can't wait to go back, and try more menu items. The funny thing that happened later on in the day, we went wine tasting...food trucks were brought up, and they said the owners of Iscream for Waffles comes out there. We were told they also own the Zingaro food truck, but it had been out of commission so he purchased the Iscream for Waffles. Well it makes perfect sense now why I see such creative food on the menu. Not that there wasn't before. But the people who owned Zingaro had such great food, and also had creative menu items at the tap house next to Cornucopia when they were there. I do wonder if they run the Yelp. The reviews on here seem outdated. How ever they are pretty current with their social media on Instagram, and Facebook. They have updated hours, and menu items weekly, as well as more than one location. They are in Eugene again, so you don't have to drive all the way out to Veneta. I how ever am pleased to have them here.

We were happy to see that while they were fairly busy, they were quick to put together a table to accommodate us right away. Located within a small strip type mall in South Eugene, parking is relatively easy. This local family business is open 7 days a week from 7am to 2pm. They offer their full menu which includes both breakfast and lunch items all day. In addition to American breakfast classics they offer Mexican-inspired dishes such as Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles. Our server came by and welcomed us and took our drink orders. In addition to the natural offerings of coffee and assorted juices they offer specialty coffees ranging from a standard iced coffee to white mochas, cappuccinos, dirty chai tea latte's and Mexican mochas. As we began to peruse the menu we immediately noticed their prices are extremely reasonable, which is always appreciated. Everything on the menu sounded really yummy and we each made our selections. Our table ordered items including the Linguica Scramble, Pancakes, and Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches. The restaurant had a good steady stream of customers but they appeared to be able to handle the amount of people and we didn't notice anyone wait more than a couple of minutes to be seated. We also observed a good amount of to-go/Door Dash traffic. Our orders arrived in a timely manner and looked delicious. We each enjoyed our meals and we understand why my brother-in-law made the suggestion. If you are visiting the U of O campus or are in Southwest Eugene, check out South Hills Cafe!

I will also say, I worked in restaurants for almost 8 years and I am VERY understanding of costs and the possibilities of off days. But this place is honestly ridiculous. First of all, I did a to-go order, so my review is completely about that experience, the food, and the cost. I do not have a review of the service. $18 dollars for a breakfast burrito sounded crazy, but since it was my bad not checking the prices, I went through with it. The food was not at all worth $18. It was bland and soggy, not moist or juicy from the sausage, just soggy. The flavor of the sausage was good but other than that the burrito was completely bland. The home fries on the side were pretty tasty but I didn't even want them and would've preferred them inside the burrito or not included at all for a lower price. My main reason for leaving 1 star and not maybe 2 or even 3 is that they charge a 10% gratuity on to-go orders which, to me, is unacceptable. I generally tip about that much on my own for to-go (20-35% if I eat in for people who think I'm awful lol), but given the food is ridiculously overpriced I was unsure if I would this time. Them making that decision for me without any heads up ensures I will never come back here again. A small note on ambience; the place is stinky. As I said, I didn't sit down so take this with a grain of salt, but when I walked in I was blasted with a musty and kind of dirty smell that would've had me not wanting to stay for a meal. I honestly feel bad writing this review but this place does not deserve the communities continued business unless they SERIOUSLY up their game. I don't believe I will ever be back but hopefully they improve and actually live up to the 4.1 rating that they have. There are many, many better tasting and more affordable options throughout Eugene, even places with much lower ratings.
