I went there for branch with my wife on Monday while visiting Eugene and since we are regular customers at the Portland location we decided to try the Eugene location after being seated we waited 10 min till a server showed up when we started to order our regular we wanted the Apple pancakes and vegetarian omelet I was told that the oven is off and can't do apple or peach pancakes and no omelette and no Dutch baby so we decided on pumpkin waffle and pecan waffle they can as thin as a pancake the pumpkin one has nothing but a small ramekin of butter and the waffle did not test like pumpkin at all the pecan one also very thin waffle (if you want to call that a waffle) came with pecan pieces and dusted powder sugar we both ate them in two bites we left hungry for this overpriced thin waffles very bad experience I would review the Portland location with 5 stars but Eugene one no thank you read more

This place never disappoints. There are other chains but I swear this is the best. My favorites are the green chili and cheese omelette, apple waffle (not pictured) and chocolate chip pancakes. OH THE BAKED APPLE PANCAKE!!! I've been waiting for about a decade to have this and it did not disappoint! THANK YOU. The 49'ers were great too. The OJ was terrible as was the coffee but maybe to be expected? Thank you as well for having real maple syrup; I do not mind paying for it! Expect a wait on the weekends because this is right near campus and it's a Eugene classic! I recently had the Dutch Baby. It sort of reminds me of a thick crepe. It was decent just like all of their pancakes, but it isn't really worth a long wait for me. I also ordered their fruit bowl which once came with seasonal fruits and a generous helping of their delicious homemade whipped cream but now comes with a tiny dish of whipped cream. The only reason I order the fruit bowl is for the whipped cream! It certainly is not for the under-ripe strawberries and sliced bananas. This seriously used to be the highlight of coming here for me, and now I have no motivation to come back. This may seem like an attention-seeking overreaction, but I'm actually serious. Had a very good Nutella crepe for breakfast (with banana on top). The coffee was decent if unremarkable, and the waitress efficient and friendly. My sister enjoyed her pancakes & sausage too. There was no wait to be seated at 9:30 on a Thursday. The restaurant is right at the edge of the University of Oregon and this morning it was chock-full-'o-students in here. The waitress was wearing an Oregon Football T-shirt, and the walls are covered in campus athletic memorabilia so I think that's a common occurrence. Growing up in Salem with the owners of the Original Pancake House made their Salem, Eugene and Portland restaurants an old favorite standby. Breakfast today brought back fond memories but recent menu price increases were very evident. The food and service was good, as usual, but with a moderate crowd the blueberry waffle was less then hot as the butter wouldn't melt and the very tasty Special sausage paddy was a little over done. Wow. I am very sad I hadn't tried this place earlier. Everything was great from the orange juice all the way to the ketchup. First thing to mention was the service. The nicest lady was our server, and she was QUICK and efficient. The food was also out pretty quick. Now on to the food. FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE that was super good. Huge menu with lots and lots of options. Great prices. All the food was great. Home fries, pumpkin pancakes, great bacon. And they had my FAVORITE ketchup (Portland company ketchup). The handful of times I've visited this location it's been hit or miss. I'm a bit disappointed by my food today. I tried the biscuits and gravy that are newer to the menu, and they weren't really my cup of tea. Gravy was slightly more on the watery side versus thick, and is mildly spicy which was not what I was expecting. I'm not sure if a spicy sausage was used or if there was a ton of pepper in there...? I wouldn't call it bad, but I personally don't like anything spicy at all and it was not noted on the menu that it was. I also ordered the chocolate chip pancakes which were good, but I was bummed out by the fact that the chocolate chips weren't actually in the pancake, they just poured them over the top of plain pancakes and forgot the powdered sugar dusting. This place is a household name! You may have a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. The service is great and I love the diner atmosphere. There's plenty of parking too. Very poor Business, they don't believe in Customer service. I drove 45 minutes to get to the restaurant to eat. They advertise close at 2 pm. I arrived at the restaurant at 1:45 pm. The place is open, many people still eating, The owner said we will no longer be serving today. I said you close at 2 pm, the owner was rude, saying we are closing early today. I loved the is place! I've been wanting to try it since the first time I visited Eugene about two years ago but haven't had the chance. I finally made it! The helpings are generous. The food is tasty. I wanted a veggie omelet but didn't have the time to wait so the very nice server suggested I turn it into a scramble! Presto-it was perfect! My daughter had the eggs Benedict. This place while the food might be good, the customer service sucks. Sign inside says 'wait outside or in your car and we will call you'. We were told 15 a 20 minutes. 30 min later I walked in and asked how much longer. Our party of 5 was 6 feet from the door and the staff claims that they had called our name. Even the people on the bench next to the door did not see nor hear them come outside. If we were in our car, we would never have known that they called our name. I totally get the stresses of Covid in the food business as I own a restaurant. Sorry but I doubt I will be returning. read more

This used to be my favorite breakfast place in Eugene, but I had a less than pleasant encounter today. I tried the usual delivery services (e.g., grubhub, doordash, ubereats) since I know they're busy on Sundays and my partner is sick and couldn't go in to eat. They appear to have removed themselves from these services. I tried calling a few times, but no response (makes sense with how busy they are). So I decided to drive over and go in since the food is usually worth it. I waited and they had seated most everyone waiting - asked to make a quick to-go and the hostess just said "I'm too busy to take a to-go order." Just disappointed and don't quite understand. It would take way more time (dishes and service) for me to sit at a table, order, then ask for boxes to pack it all away. It's important to note there are no signs or messages on their website or restaurant that say when they are busy they do not do to-go orders. Very disappointed. read more

I think maybe if I had ordered pancakes I would have been happier but I wanted poached eggs. They were undercooked and the whites were runny. The coffee had a chemical taste that ruined it and not sure what was on the toast but it wasn't butter. I will say that the hash browns were perfect. Crispy and not greasy. read more

My husband kept reminding me we needed to eat here for what seemed like months, until we finally made it. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it looks. I was impressed. It's bright, airy, and not at all cramped. It's also very clean. Which I always appreciate. The food is good. I had diced ham and scrambled eggs. I think my husband had bacon, eggs, and pancakes. His bacon was cooked perfectly, the pancake was fluffy. My eggs were scrambled perfectly. Everything was done to order, cooked correctly, and served fresh and hot. The service was on point as well. The waitress was an older woman, and she clearly had experience. She was friendly, smiled, checked on us at the correct intervals, without being annoying or ignoring us. The restaurant clearly gets busy, as there was a line waiting when we left. Parking is tricky, as it's a small lot for the business they do. Will I return? Absolutely! Among those options is The Original Pancake House, a Eugene local staple that does a great job of dishing out some tasty breakfast classics. In this house of breakfast, pancakes are the name of the game and the househand claim to fame. It's hard to turn down their old fashioned buttermilk variety, though its the blueberry that wins it hands down for me. People who are looking to experiment can shoot for the chocolate bacon or even the banana whipped cream variations, it's all pretty tasty. And this is coming from a guy who doesn't even really like pancakes. And if pancakes aren't your thing, you might find some solace in their omelettes. Despite the fact folks may groan over the $10+ prices, it should be noted that each one is massive. They almost take after the pancakes for being so wide and round ... might just be good enough to share. Throw in a crispy side of bacon and/or sausage and it's a sure fired good meal. The service is on point and the weekend waits are never too long. It should be noted that their version of potatoes are homefries, no hash browns (doh!) to report of as of yet. read more
