Came here for bunch on a Sunday around 10am and was seated right away for a table of 4. What stood out to us the most was the service. Our server Megan was literally the nicest person ever and was extremely attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. On a sunday, i understand the place is busy, i wait on the line for about 50 minutes and i was jus my with my 1.6 YO son. The excuse to get rid of me is that they don't have tables available to put a high chair, but YES! My fiancé and I have been here 3 times for breakfast/brunch and they are usually very busy with a line extending out to the front door. On our last visit on July 20th, we went later in the day. I think it was 2pm (just an hour before closing) and the place was pretty empty. We asked if we could sit in a booth over by the window, but the hostess advised us that they were going to start cleaning over there because they had ants in that area. I must admit that I thought about leaving at that point, but running low on time, we decided to stay. I should also mention that several employees occupied a couple of the booths, which I would consider optimal seating. It would have been nice if they were available, as they were outside of the area she had indicated when speaking about the ants. I ordered a combo that usually comes with a stack of pancakes and asked if I could substitute them for French toast. I was told that I could, but there would be an upcharge....and I would only get one slice of French toast opposed to the two pancakes that I would have received. Although it didn't make much sense to me, I was okay with that because I never eat more than one slice anyway; but why charge more AND provide less?! I ordered a flavored French toast (it was cinnamon-almond) and that option was an additional upcharge. All in all, the food is just okay and the service is mid, at best. read more

OPH has been our favorite breakfast spot for years, but no longer. Went yesterday morning. Took 10 minutes before a waitress came to the table. Ordered an apple pancake and knew it takes 20 minutes to cook-25 minutes later they brought the food. The apple pancake was swimming in butter(so much so that I literally poured the excess off onto a small plate and it filled it.). Cut into it then only to find that it was not completely cooked and raw in the middle. It's a shame how much the restaurant has changed in the last year or so. If they want to be a high throughput restaurant, take the apple pancake, Dutch pancake and omelettes off the menu. For me, I'll just find a new favorite breakfast spot. And please look up when cleaning-the dust on the ceiling fan in your prep area and on ceiling vents is sickening. read more

The food here at pancake house was so very very good, I got the strawberry pancakes, and they gave me 3 pancakes that were really big and good,perfect for me to eat, they had strawberries, and powdered sugar on them and the choice of whipped cream so I got that, and the strawberry syrup was so good and, I got some bacon that was perfectly cooked for me and my family! Our servers name was Julie, she also got us some strawberries, bananas, and blueberries with whipped cream to dip the fruit in and that was so good! Julie was so nice and got to us so quick with food and drinks, the food probably got out quick because of their cooks. We hadn't been to The Original Pancake House in years and were excited to go back for breakfast. Big mistake. The food was bad. My crepes tasted awful, the bacon was so tough it was hard to chew, and my husband said his breakfast burrito was just "okay." Even the kids wouldn't eat their pancakes -- they said they were gross. We were told by our waitress that the kids' pancakes were free with an adult meal. They weren't. When the check came, we saw we were charged. We asked the cashier, who had no idea, and after checking with staff, told us the promo no longer exists. So why did the waitress say it did? To top it off, the coffee was $4.29 for a tiny cup, and our total came to almost $100 before tip. For what we got, that's ridiculous. We left disappointed and frustrated. We won't be back, and we don't recommend this place to anyone. read more

The other day I decided to treat myself to breakfast out, something I rarely do because I can usually do much better and cheaper at home. Anyway, I was in the mood for eggs Benedict, thus my trip here and review. The service was attentive, coffee was refilled, however the eggs Benedict was underwhelming. One of the poached eggs had a very watery egg white which is a turnoff but that wasn't the worst. The worst was they didn't use Canadian bacon. Instead, there were paper thin pieces of deli ham layered to look like Canadian bacon. Totally unacceptable when the menu describes "Classic Eggs Benedict." I realize Canadian bacon is a more expensive ingredient but isn't that what is part of classic eggs Benedict? If I had known I would have gone with a different choice. Our food was OK! My children enjoyed their pancakes, but the biscuits and gravy as a whole was a little disappointing. If the biscuits and gravy were served hot (instead of barely room temperature), they would have been much better. They have an extensive kids menu at this location, with lots of options and combinations. My kids pretty much stick to the basics, so one of them got just three small pancakes with whipped butter, and the other got three small pancakes with two strips of bacon. The syrup is served nice and warm. I think it's smart to stick to ordering pancakes here. This used to be my absolute favorite breakfast spot because of the gluten free pancakes. I had a whole container of GF waffles in my fridge, but it was my birthday yesterday, so I asked my husband that we go out for breakfast with our 4yo twins. We typically split the basic breakfast which used to come with 3eggs, 4pc bacon and pancakes. My husband would add a side of potatoes and sausage gravy. My twins would split a kids plate, and eat off of our leftovers, because there was so much food. Now that basic breakfast is 1egg,2pc bacon and pancakes for $11.79. He asked for a small cup of gravy and they charged $5.79 for it, and a side of potatoes was $5.29. Our 4yo twins got a single scrambled egg and a couple tiny silver dollar pancakes. We asked for cheese to be added to the egg and they forgot it but charged $2.79 for cheese for ONE egg... when a side of 2eggs cost $3.79. They forgot the blueberries in my GF pancakes and they came out on a regular plate "because the menu changed." They used to guarantee the GF pancakes were served on a small plate with a black rim on it. This always gave peace of mind that they were actually GF. I get it that prices have increased everywhere but we actually left the Pancake House hungry, and normally we are stuffed, with leftovers. The receipt above doesn't include coffee because we had coffee at home before going and we decided not to get it here yesterday. This place used to be so great that we would actually tip as much as the bill. Yesterday we left disappointed and hungry. Unfortunately we'll probably stay home and beat breakfast next time. After driving past Original Pancake House on errand runs in downtown Fishers and passing it on a quest to satisfy my late-night cravings at Crumbl, my friends and I finally decided to give it a try. Our group of five was seated promptly at a booth and were served water while we waited to order. I was quite disappointed in the quality of the water, as the glasses were cloudy and not completely cleaned. I set mine aside. (This is my only reason for docking a star). Onto the food: The chocolate chip pancakes were a favorite amongst the group, as three of us ordered them. For six giant pancakes smothered with fresh whipped cream and melted chocolate morsels, the price was very reasonable. It was a little too much to eat in one sitting, and I regret not asking for a takeout box because they were delicious enough that I'd want to enjoy them at home. The semi-sweetness of the homemade chocolate batter perfectly balanced out the sweet chocolate morsels baked inside, and the whipped cream on top rounded out this delectable breakfast. (10/10) My friend enjoyed the fresh strawberries topping her waffle, and she loved the strawberry syrup. It was sweet, but didn't taste "fake" (like strawberry flavoring). It tasted fresh and summery. ( She's giving it a 7/10, her waffle was a bit undercooked). Finally, my friend tried the Dutch Baby Pancake after reading positive reviews on Yelp. Let me tell you, the meal definitely lived up to her expectations. The pancake tasted like apple pie (who doesn't love dessert for breakfast!) and the unique way of baking the pancake in the oven made a crispy, crunchy dome of caramelized apples and buttermilk flavor. My friend, describing the meal as "a decadent treat," rates it 10/10. Now the factor that separates a 5 star from a 4 star is: will I add it to my rotation? Will I frequent the Original Pancake House as much as, say, Lincoln Square? Probably not. However, I really enjoyed my meal and did not regret stopping in today. read more

Came Saturday for breakfast with my husband and we were seated immediately. Our server was very nice and brought us our drinks. My husband ordered a 1/2 biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs. I ordered 2 eggs over medium and a side of potatoes. The server asked if I wanted ketchup, I said no thanks but I'll take mustard. She comes back saying they have no mustard so I change my potatoes to just a side of wheat toast. We got our food, my toast was cold and my butter wouldn't melt so I added some jelly. Scheduled a breakfast date to enjoy pancakes and coffee. After finally deciding on the bacon omelette (Choose your meat) and adding some veggies (for good measure haha) I had blueberry pancakes as well. Pros: Waitress was very patient while my date and I chatted before ordering and also helped me decide on which pancakes to pick from as there are so many yummy options to choose from! Coffee was delicious and extra brought to the table for us as well. Omelette was ENORMOUS and very tasty while the pancakes were soft & came with blueberry syrup to top it off. Cons: It took over 35 minutes for the food to get to us and it didn't appear to be all that busy inside the restaurant. Service was impeccable, I mean for as busy as this Carmel location was, they were on point with bringing coffee, refilling and bringing our food out nice and hot! So for our party of five, 2 girls ordered the massive strawberry crepes...did I mention that it was massive. My daughter stated she thought crepes were smaller servings...she didn't realize how much she would get...needless to say we were all impressed! Even more impressive was that the strawberries were FRESH...not strawberries sitting in a can soaking in sugary sweet syrup...these were fresh strawberries. Three of us ordered the sunrise breakfast that came with three pancakes, three bacon/other meat, and I think 3 scrambled eggs. This meal was perfect. I ordered the pecan pancake and OMG it was divine. I still dream about those pancakes. My husband got the blueberry pancake which he inhaled and soccer player number 3 ordered regular pancakes and she was not disappointed. We also ordered 2 fruit bowls that were HUGE and came with fresh strawberries, blueberries and bananas. WHAT A SUPRISE! Usually fruit bowls consist of melons with a small amount of berries. The original pancake house has become one of my favorite spots for brunch! I have been to numerous locations and this visit was great as well. I always get an omelette and they are HUGE- i had enough leftover to eat for 2 more meals. My favorite thing here are the gluten free pancakes (which come with the enormous omelette) - they are fantastic!!! We were seated quickly, had great service, and our food was served fresh. Me and my wife went to have some breakfast on a Sunday morning and the place was packed our server Alex was so nice and so on point with everyone we asked for and he had the best attitude. The western omelette was just delicious and I upgraded my pancakes for the banana ones and let me tell you that they taste amazing. The biscuits and gravy did come out cold, so we returned those; I would have liked for them to have come off the receipt but we didn't want to make a big fuss about it.
