The food is very generous, plates are really good and big, prices are also really good (not expensive at all) I'd actually say it's very affordable. They don't just serve typical IHOP-style food. They also have larger oven-baked plates, which can take about 20 to 30 minutes, but they're totally worth the wait, so time doesn't really matter. Of course, if you're in a rush, you can always order simpler options like buttermilk pancakes, eggs, or similar. What a terrible experience! I ordered eggs Benny . The eggs were over cooked and the Benedict was cold, cold hollandaise! I ate a few of the potato pancakes, the only thing that was warm. The server came back and I said my food was not only over cooked but was also cold. However it took her a very long time to come back to even check in. The manager Ian decided that since I had eaten some of my potato pancakes, that the charge was for half of my meal instead of taking the food off the bill. I understand people eat half their food and then say they don't like it or there is something wrong this was not the case . This was like eating a little of your hash browns before you decided to eat your omelet. So if I ordered another thing on the menu I would be charged for my 1/2 of my Benedict that I didn't eat ? Needless to say I didn't eat my breakfast, and I paid half for food I didn't eat. Very poor management and skills in the customer service department. I'll stick with the Orland pancake house! There is something so exciting about a good breakfast to me. I appreciate the variety of options at this pancake house. My favorite is the dutch-baby which takes a minimum of twenty-five minutes to prepare. Don't care, I love it and that makes it worth the wait. Service is always both pleasant and professional. The servers constantly check on you and are quick to bring you whatever you need. I appreciate the decor and how the restaurant always celebrates with a theme. Makes for great pictures. My wife and I decided to take in a late lunch today. It's a Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. We missed the lunch crowd, the restaurant wasn't busy, we were seated immediately, and we had a hankering for a late keto breakfast. What could go wrong? The busboy sat us, since there was no one at the front door to greet us; it's not the best start for our first dining experience at this restaurant. We got our booth, menus, and water immediately by the same employee. There was no management presence. We waited about 7-10 minutes before our waitress finally made it to our table. I only saw her and one other server working the floor, consisting of only 7 occupied tables (including ours). As a former full-service restaurant manager myself, I'm particularly critical of long waiting periods when it's not that busy. She took our drink order and disappeared for another 5-7 minutes; it was only a cup of coffee! She returned to tell us that she had to brew fresh coffee, but then took our food order at that time. We both ordered omelette plates at $15.99 each, which is unreasonably steep. It's a couple of eggs and veggies. C'mon. The waitress returned with the fresh cup of coffee moments later. There was no flavored cream caddy or artificial sweetener on the table, which created another request, which is further inconvenience. These should already be on the table! I've never eaten at a restaurant that lacked these necessities, which led me to believe that management (if it exists) is cutting costs. The waitress finally delivered our omelettes. My wife's dish was erroneous, so she was forced to wait another 10 minutes. [NOTE: If you ask me to prepare a spinach and Swiss cheese omelette, I'll have it done in under 2 minutes, if that.] The mistake MUST be addressed FIRST, which clearly didn't happen here. My veggie omelette was bland. There was no flavor or seasoning, and the cooks ridiculously skimped on the cheese. I expect buttery, cheesy, and gooey goodness with my omelettes, but these people are more concerned about food costs than customer satisfaction. It was like biting into a soft sponge. It didn't even look appealing, and the bacon was thick-sliced and fatty, not crispy. The omelettes are priced with 3 pancakes, which we didn't care for, based on our dietary restrictions. I wanted to substitute the pancakes with a side dish of cottage cheese. THEY HAD NO COTTAGE CHEESE! Are you kidding me?! A chain restaurant doesn't carry this item?! So, we were charged $5.95 for a side of rubbery bacon, $15.99 for an inferior omelette, and no healthy substitute for unwanted pancakes. We received no discount, either. That was $21.94 for a single omelette, bacon, and extraordinarily slow service. My wife's omelette finally arrived, and she also commented about the lack of cheese. The waitress also blamed the cooks for not reading the ticket properly, when a simple apology and a sense of urgency would've sufficed. Neither one of us finished our meals, mostly because the food wasn't that interesting, so we got containers. I'll flavor it tomorrow morning, butter it up, and add a copious amount of cheese; I'll cook that bacon too. We definitely won't return here. The service is inattentive and hopelessly pokey; the food is boring, there's no substitutions, the menu is limited, and the prices are a complete ripoff. The small details of keeping flavored cream, artificial sweeteners, jelly, and hot sauce on the table should also be addressed. Even the booth wasn't clean. Also, the waitress took the payment at the table, which I don't like. I wanted to give her a 98¢ tip to round-up the tab to $55.00 (!), but she was hovering over us. So, we grudgingly opted to give her $4.98, which she didn't deserve. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. If there was a zero-star rating, I'd select it. read more

My friend was visiting from Georgia and she wanted good pancakes so I recommended The Original Pancake House. I usually frequent the location in Oak Forest which is always outstanding...excellent food and service 10/10. We were closer to this location so we tried it. I ordered the diced ham and cheese scramble with a side of bacon, crisp. The scramble was excellent, the bacon, not so much. It was so hard and burnt. When I shared this with the assistant manager , she told me that's what you get when you order crisp bacon. My response was this isn't crisp, it's burnt. I ordered it based on ordering from the Oak Forest location and it is never this hard or burnt. I asked if it could be remade and she said no. I would be charged for another order if they remade it. I asked several times but the response was the same. My girlfriend tried again and asked if it could be removed from our bill but again no! I thought this could be added to our family's list of go to breakfast spots but the non accommodating attitude has changed my mind. This is my first visit at this location. The setup is beautiful! I ordered a spinach omelette with pancakes, grits, cranberry juice and tea. Oak Lawn location is a better setup . I made sure I took photos . The teacups/ coffee cups are even stylish but they did not have any for me to buy. My server Melissa was pleasant and helpful in the request of removing an intoxicated loud person. The service for my take out order was terrible. I ordered a turkey sausage meal with pancakes and eggs and a French toast meal with eggs and bacon. When I got home there was one fork one syrup and one jelly in the bag. So I called back to let them know they didn't give me enough syrup and was told by the manager(Edwardo) that that was all I get because according to him it's 50 cents more if I wanted another syrup because syrup doesn't come with French toast and you only get one syrup for three pancakes. I wasn't sure about this one because the Yelp average is three stars. But the weather was awful and we didn't want to go far from home base. I'm glad we didn't let the average deter us. Service was good, attentive and prompt. Food was good, hot and plentiful. It's a basic breakfast place, it's not gourmet but it's not supposed to be at this price. Sure there are farm to table, non-chain breakfast places where the food is higher standard but not near Oak Lawn. And when the weather suddenly drops to the teens you don't take a senior citizen out on a journey far from home to find gourmet breakfast. We had an enjoyable meal with friendly and attentive help. The omelette was delicious and huge, it's a 10 inch plate with an 8 inch omelette. And I was able to switch to egg whites with my meal with ease. The GF pancakes were the best I've had yet. First time visiting this location, I will say they are sanitizing, cleaning, enforcing social distancing among guests. Im more particular about places lately and the cleanliness of this establishment surpasses. The staff is extremely pleasant here, we had a party of 8 divided into two tables. Our server Michelle was was attentive and friendly to all of us, also ishmael too. we had about 3 kids with us. She made the experience welcoming and was considerate to everyone at our table. I have been to this establishment for many years and today my family and I received the worst service. We arrived at 12pm and asked for a table for 11 and we're told it would be a wait given they had a party of 16 ahead of us. At 12:58 who I assume is the manager said they would not be able to sit us together with an attitude and said if we wanted to be served we would need to split up... All this after we waited and where told not a problem by the very nice host and of course the table of 16 was sat together. I ordered potato pancakes which was served to me with a nice long curly black hair. I showed it to the waitress and explained that I didn't want a new one, I just wanted it removed from the table. I had a pancake breakfast here about 2 years ago. I was not impressed with the pancakes. I know they are famous for their Dutch Apple pancakes. I decided to call in an order for that today, along with some hash browns with cheese. The quantity of the Dutch Apple pancake was very large - easily enough for 2-3 people. But I did not like it at all. It was spongy, and the apples were underwhelming. The hash browns with cheese tasted starchy and the cook was skimpy with the cheese. I appreciated that the hash browns were neither greasy nor fried hard.When I got home, I added more cheese and salt. The restaurant parking lot seems to always be full - so that means many people like the food here. I will say the presentation of the food is impressive. My favorite breakfast restaurant. I always get the veggie omelette which has onion, mushrooms, broccoli and lite cheddar cheese.

The food was terrible. The omelets were were wet/runny in the middle. Iced coffee was mostly filled with milk and little to no coffee. I had to keep asking the server for the condiments that weren't on the table from ketchup and hot sauce. The fountain drinks had no flavor and was not carbonated. I was in the restaurant with my mother and four sisters to celebrate Mother's day. Generally, OPH is a restaurant that I frequent, often, but after our level of service, we will unlikely return to this location. We had Michelle S. as our server and she was inattentive, curt, and dismissive. We made it a point to be at the restaurant early enough that it wasn't that busy, yet in the two hours that we were in the restaurant, she barely checked in on us and she seemed to get annoyed when requests were made. It got to the point, where we had to make requests to other staff members in order to get service or followup. If gratuity wasn't required because of the size of our party, she would have likely received a substantially smaller tip for her level of service. While I understand that being in the service industry is never easy, consistent efforts should be made to all patrons in the restaurant, especially when we choose OPH as the destination for celebrations. read more
