Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs
Magnus U.

Immediately upon walking in, the atmosphere is very cozy. The whole restaurant feels timeless and comfortable, like a warm hug. The service was prompt and polite. The hostess as well as the server both had wonderful smiles and friendly, warm temperaments. The server checked in early and often. The food came quickly in about 15 minutes, and it was absolute perfection. My friend and I both had chicken fried steak and eggs. The chicken fried steak was tender and juicy on the inside, but crisp with a slight breaded crunch on the outside. It was exactly how I picture a perfect chicken fried steak. The steak was topped with thick and creamy white gravy which had a delectable balance of gentle cream, mouthwatering umami, and pepper to balance. The eggs were cooked over easy and couldn't have been made better. The white and yolk balance was a textbook over easy cook. The hash browns were in a very large slab. They were soft and squishy on the inside with a medium-dark brown top and bottom layer. Perfect! The only disappointment of the meal was the biscuit, which was very large and fluffy. However, it was fairly dry and flavorless. To be fair, the butter and jam made it taste good, but the biscuit itself was lacking in flavor and moisture. All-in-all, the meal was an ideal chill brunch in terms of ambience, service, and food quality. The prices are reasonable, and worth coming back for regularly. 10/10 recommend anybody in the area tries at least once.

I discovered this terrific old-school family diner while wheeling-in hand trucks loaded with cases of food as a delivery driver for US Foods and Sysco in 2022 and 2023. Delivery drivers typically service 70 to 90 customers a week. This gives us unparalleled insight into who is nice, who cares about food, and whose kitchen is clean. Country Rose ranks high in all three. They were also big recipients of a delicious blackberry pie I had never seen before at any location. I order it every time I'm there now. The staff is full of longtime employees, which is rare in the food industry. The guy running the back was both competent, firm and nice. Same for the kitchen and wait staff. Country Rose Cafe embodies the best of old-school values. If they had a meal plan I would be there every day. Their breakfast, pot roast, meat loaf and open face turkey sandwiches all made an impression. But the blackberry pie is the showstopper. So much so that I feel sorry for anyone who hasn't had it. It's on both my bucket list and my every day wish list. If that pie had a religion I would convert. If it was single... (big sigh)

Food comes out hot and fresh. Service is usually good and the ambiance was very heavy and not inviting.

The food was not good. Overcooked and vaguely warm. Won't go back. This place needs a HUGE update.

This place is a reminder not to judge a book by its cover, don't want to call this a greasy spoon because there was nothing greasy about the food. Quaint and clean. The food was sooo good! Eggs, hubby's scrambled and mine over medium, were perfectly cooked. The sausage patties were delicious; nice crisp sear on the outside and tender in side. Best execution of hash browns I've ever had at any restaurant. The rye bread toast.... To make this place even better, the service was incredible. Wish I had gotten their names to give them the proper appreciation, both were attentive and friendly. Sad they are so far away, best breakfast ever!

I looked up diners and Yelp came through with this spot! When you're pulling up the the location you wouldn't think that there's a bomb breakfast spot in the area but OMG this place is fantastic! Small hole in the wall type spot but everything wad great. Solid stream of folks coming in and glad we beat the rush before it was a 30-40 min wait! Service, the sweetest servers! Charming and just overall nice, you know you're being taken care of with them. Renee made great recommendations and we got an omelet (forgot which one...it was a supreme/something omelet towards the top of the menu) and my hubby got a club sandwich! Omelet was cooked perfectly and they were not cheap on the meat! My hubbys club sandwich was HUGE! You must get the loaded hash browns, they are incredible!! Will definitely come back!

Great spot for American style breakfast!! I've been looking…read morearound to try some new breakfast places and Manny's popped up on my radar. Extra bonus points that it's in Proctor - my favourite stomping ground. I got there not too long after they opened and about half of the tables were already taken. I found a place at the bar and was quickly greeted. I didn't see a drink menu, so I figured a mimosa is the obvious choice. They also have apple and grapefruit juice so you can mix it up a bit! For breakfast I went with the Mediterranean Veggie Hash, which was excellent! Good ratios of all the ingredients and I will absolutely be eating another one! It seems like this is one of those places that you're going to want to get to early - by the time I was leaving it was a full house with no seating left!

Took everyone's drink order but mine. When she came back I asked if there were adult drinks. There are no drinks listed anywhere in the menu. When our food came I asked for butter.... butter never came. She checked on us 20 mins later and I just gave her my card. She came back with the credit card slip to sign and my copy. There was no itemized receipt so I dont know exactly what I paid for but I assume $134 for 5 people sounded about right I gave 4 stars cause the food made up for it... or atleast my dish did! French toast was nice and fluffy. The syrup tasted like a caramel/maple mix. Goodm but too sweet toward the end Blueberry pancakes were nice and fluffy 6oz steak and eggs was the winner. Your choice of bread. Comes with hasbrowns. The steak was cooked medium which was fine. The sauce on the steak is what got me. There was pesto, shredded cheese and some type of ketchup/may/ maybe Sriracha mix. But it was REALLY tasty. Southwest hash - great portion. Has brown postion was nice and crispy. They were very busy. It was father's day. So im sure it was just an off day with the service. Would definitely try again The only suggestion i would make would be to put the items that dont fit on the main plate, on a smaller plate. These tables have limited room. So giving each patron 2 large plates (one for french toast and an equally large plate for eggs and bacon) took up a lot of room on a 4 person table where you sat 5

Walking into the establishment it was well lit and the decor was simple but efficient. I was seated promptly and the menu and a glass of water so their after. It was a two sided menu, with a good variety for breakfast and lunch items too. I ordered breakfast. The service was consistent as my server did check on me and asked if I had any questions about the menu. I asked one and they were very polite explaining it. After my order showed up, I proceeded to eat it all. The combination of the eggs, tomatoes, bacon and cheese was equally satisfying and balanced. It was topped with Avocado slices ( slightly brown, but still good). The sourdough toast appeared to be from a freshly made loaf ( served with soft butter and raspberry jam) and the hash browns were cooked lightly. Overall this place will do well in this part of town. Yes, I would return again. Good service, good selection and great prices too!!
