Our technician was nice and more than knowledgable. He came out to quote a water heater replacement for us and the quoting process felt a little shady. First, he told me the pressure in the tank was sitting at 100 psi. I closed the inlets so the pressure wouldnt change, got myself a meter to validate and it was sitting at 70 psi. 100 psi is high with the water heater off, giving false numbers like that will sway people into making a rushed decision instead of researching other bids. After he took the pressure reading, he told me my inlet water pressure reducing valve failed. Said my inlet pressure coming in was 100 psi and so it needed to be swapped. Again i measured the inlet pressure to the house and it was 60 psi. He then quoted me the replacement pressure reducing valve. 1200$ is what he said for JUST THE PART. NOT THE LABOR, ONLY THE ONE VALVE. I knew that was crazy so i googled the exact same valve model, LF 25AUB Z3. Look it up yourself, its around 150$. I went to lowes after that and found that valve on the shelf (model number matched and everything), in fact the lowes rep told me i could use one next to it for 80$ instead since it matched the line size and specced right. That is a 1400% markup for a valve you can walk into the store and buy yourself, absolutely insane. In total i was quoted roughly 2700$ for the labor to hard pipe and change everything, i would be supplying the water heater. I found another company that said theyd do it for 1200$, exact same scope of work. I don't doubt the skills of their technicians, but their quoting and pricing system is extremely shady. Be careful if you choose to use them so you don't scam yourself. read more

I have to say I'm very disappointed. When I set up the appointment I asked the person on the phone if the coupon that they were offering online for septic cleaning was still valid and she said yes. When the plumbers arrived I was not home so they spoke with my husband and quoted him a price that was $300 dollars higher. After he told them what I told him the price would be one of the plumbers went and called the office and came back and told him the price that I originally said ($149). The other plumber that had stayed behind with my husband asks, "You mean $250"? At that point, my husband realized he was being fleeced and told him we would go with someone else if they weren't going to honor the price and they agreed on $149. During the process, they did no inspection but tried to say that we needed a new lid for $1,400. My husband declined that sale and they commenced pumping the tank. They had been called out because waste was backing up from the clean-out. They never inspected it or the line. The next day I checked the cleanout to be sure there was no backup and low and behold there was. I called them back and they said they could send someone out the next day (yesterday). Another plumber comes out and STILL doesn't look in the clean-out. He says, "We can't even get close enough to look in there". What!? You work on septic systems and can't step in sewage? So without an inspection, he quotes me two prices. One to do some type of jetting the line, and one to do some other procedure. I'm looking at $489 for that and $1,500 for jetting. I had the line jetted a few years ago by another company and it was less than $400. Fast forward to today. I had another company come out who I will be giving a glowing review when the job is finished that was like night and day. They put a camera in the line to find out exactly what the problem is. It turns out the line was warped and faulty and wasn't connecting the way it was supposed to. So the line is being replaced for not much more than The Original Plumber was going to charge me to jet the line that didn't even have a blockage as it turns out! And on top of that, they opened the lid and there is more solid waste in there than could have accumulated in three days since it was pumped. I would never utilize their services again. Edit: I have called 3 times to speak with a manager to try to give them the opportunity to make it right. Each time the person that answered the phone did not ask me my name, or why I was calling. They asked if the number I was calling from was a good number and said that a manager would call me back. Horrible business. read more

This company is a high priced, high presure,price gougers. I had them give me an estimate for minor rough in plumbing for my basement. Out of four plumbing contractors they came in astronomically higher, double the price of the others. After three calls from three different employees asking me if im ready to move forward with the project, i told all 3 callers that there price was extremely higher than the others for the same work. They asked for a second look and after speaking with the estimator, i told him the huge discrepancy in pricing and he asked if i could give him another chance to lower pricing. Second estimate wasnt much different, descriptions and dollar amounts where moved around a bit, but still crazy high! Do your part and get multiple estimates and see for yourself. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Guy who came out to do the "free" estimate pressured me into using a camera scope that was then only free if we accepted their 12k bid. Caving to that ploy was on me- I absolutely should have got a few other estimates to compare. Still, I bought the sales pitch about doing it right once and for all, since the previous owner had clearly had the same issue, his poor fix led to our current problem, and the estimate guy promised a lifetime guarantee on the work. Time will tell whether the actual repair holds up. What I DO know is that the jagged, unprofessional cutting job plus the enormous piles of dirt and buried chunks of asphalt the crew left behind in our turn around means that instead of the "$400 max" repair the estimate guy swore would be all that was needed to clean up the site, no asphalt repair contractor in a 50 mile radius will touch the job for less than $3k. He installed new water heaters, fixed leaking, poorly installed plumbing for a sump pump in our basement, replaced a shower cartridge and gave me pointers on how to manage our outdoor kitchen through winter. He left the areas clean and tidy and was so forthcoming that I will definitely choose him again for any maintenance or new installs on our property. I was referred to this company by a friend and received a ridiculously overpriced quote to repair a ballcock mechanism on a 2+ year old Mirabella toilet that was continuously running and a loose handle on a thermostatic shower valve in a separate bathroom. The "technician," Austin, told me the entire toilet would need to be replaced and that the shower handle could not be fixed...that the entire valve would need to be torn out of the wall and replaced. Damage to the wall and tile would be an additional expense, and work not offered by The Original Plumber. The written quote provided was for $1569. His attitude was flippant, condescending and "take it or leave it." The price gouging and rudeness goaded me into doing more research on the repairs needed. I repaired the shower valve myself using an allen wrench, with nary a scratch on the tile. I called the original sales company, Ferguson Plumbing, and found the toilet part was still under warranty and so would be provided for free. My entire cost was $5 for a tube of caulk to reseal the toilet once back in place. The shower is working perfectly. The toilet is again quiet and functioning as it did when originally installed. Avoid this company at all cost, especially yours . read more

I am frustrated even having to send this review. Our septic clean out had popped up. I called this company (The Original Plumber) and shared what was happening and was told that it would cost $189 to $489 depending on how clogged things were. Once my yard was torn up to get to the tank, I was told that the tank had grease clogs and had to be cleared out in order to clear the tank.....my cost according to Zach, who I will address soon, was now just shy of $1400. I asked what my other options were and he stated that he could put the dirt back in a pile and that I could call someone else. As a business owner, I know that everyone one of my employees represents me and my brand....every single one of them. If Zach were my employee, he would have been fired on the spot for his flippant and irreverent attitude as well as his overall lack of customer service skills. Once he finished his work, we learned later that he cut through electrical lines underground that were part of our new expensive outdoor lighting system. I called into the company to explain what happened and they had Zach call me. I shared the situation with him and said, "how do we handle this from here?"....his response was that I needed to cut a check to someone to have it fixed and that it was not their problem.....I am on the HOA of my neighborhood that has EVEYONE on Septic. Needless to say, I have let every neighbor know what has transpired as well as shared this with our 2 abutting neighborhoods, who are on Septic also, so that they NEVER use this company. Outside of that, we will be doing reviews on every review sight imaginable as well as sharing on Nextdoor and reporting this to the BBB. Please be aware that they have you sign AND do not share what you are signing and what it entails as it is almost a high-pressure situation......your yard is torn up and you are helpless. I did ask and was told that this was just a signature to say that the work was complete. Zach knew what he did and was not honest about it...which tells me a lot about him and unfortunately about the company he works for by default. We just bought a new home with a grill gas line fully stubbed on the deck. We called three plumbers for quotes to connect the grill's supply line to the stub on the deck. They were a no-show for an appointment to give us an estimate. A week later when they finally managed to come to our home, they gave us a quote of $510.30! The next highest quote from a licensed plumber was only $165. This is a very simple 10-minute job that should only require a trip charge. To say the least, we won't ever call The Original Plumber again. When you're getting estimates, save yourself the time and call someone else. read more

Home warranty is the company that sent them out to look at our garbage disposal that was only a year old but was leaking for some reason. Well they came out and didn't want to replace the clamp down $3 at most ! which was the issue. Instead they said that we needed a new garbage disposal and that it would be 400$ plus to replace and install. Crooked people that have no integrity. read more

Be very careful with these guys, they Creatively leave out information leading you to think you have a great price of $159 only to dig a big hole in your yard and then tell you its $720 (my case) I really wish I had sent them packing and finished the job myself, would have been cheaper to bring in a more reputable company at that point and let them do the job. Hi, we've seen alot of comments about this company. We used them. Very friendly. The pipe leading to our outdoor jacuzzi was rusted through, after twenty years. They quoted, and said they installed gas lines all the time, for pools. This they did, however, our jacuzzi still would not heat up. When we called out our pool guy he was aghast the new gas hose installed hadn't even been bled out yet! Said there could have even been an explosion. While installing our new gas line they also damaged the heating element to our jacuzzi, and damaged our pooling equipment in the process. I cannot judge as to their ability to fix plumbing, but they made a commitment to fix a problem, and I paid for that commitment. They actually made it worse. Didn't cop to anything. Even forgot to bleed out the hose. We spent $1000 on this problem. Everyone is helpful until a customer wants his money back. We do not recommend them. A discount or partial refund would have kept me from writing this review. read more

We called for an estimate. Told them on the phone that the septic tank needed to be pumped, had last been done a little over 3 years ago and asked for pricing. They told us $150-$250 depending on tank size, so we set up an appointment. Then on the day of our appointment, they switched our time and came hours earlier than expected.... The technician, without ever opening the tank, tells my elderly grandmother that because it wasn't within 3 years ( 2 months too long) that it's going to be $360-$460. This company is dishonest and they were trying to take advantage of her because she was elderly and home alone. This is not okay and I would never use them after that and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. It was a waste of time. read more

$189 charged to come out and tell us we needed $4999 in electrical work done on our septic pump, probably because they knew I was out of town on a cruise and "had no choice". Tried to scare saying our house could possibly burn down even though pump is outside in a metal lined hole...but they clearly weren't worried since they left it running with kids in house until they could come back 3 days later. Had an electrician come today: $219 to fix a few wire connectors when original plumber wanted to replace the whole electrical box and breaker box. And "possibly a new pump" for an additional $3000 on top of the $4999. I scheduled out my call a week before they were to be there. i was under due diligence so had 10 days to get it done. 3 days before due diligence expired, they called and said they'd have to reschedule for the next. The next day, at the end of the day, they called and said, "Sorry, we can't make it. You are on your own." Thanks a lot. I now have no recourse or options because you are so poorly run. If you have weeks or months, you may be okay with Original, but under due diligence? You are playing Russian Roulette. My septic tank was full and my popper popped. I was charged 50% more than the quote when they got here. They said it was over full, no, it was full, that's why you were here. They also do not jet the line to the tank without a ridiculous additional fee. This left my system clogged and inoperable unless I paid it or did it myself. It takes maybe 3 minutes to jet a 6 foot pipe. When your tank is full on a weekend, or you have a house full of company, you have no choice but to pay whatever they are charging when you get them here. The office staff was very nice and very responsive, and they came out in about 14 hours from the time I called, that is 1 of the stars. Get a quote in writing before they come and ask about jetting the line before you schedule it. I will not use them again. read more

Needed EMERGENCY plumbing repair so I called this business because of the reviews and the fact that they are right around the corner from where they were desperately needed. Their website says they offer emergency service and that their hours are 8AM-8PM 7 Days a Week. Called on A Sunday morning at 8:18AM, got an answering service. They took my information and told me they were sending it to the on-call tech. Waited 35 minutes, no return call so I called the answering service back. This person tells me that there is a note stating that a plumber would be dispatched as soon as possible but I would not get a call until the next business day! Confused as to whether or not a plumber was coming, I filled in the contact us information on their website. At 9:34AM I received a call from "Tammy" who tells me that they DO NOT operate 7 Days a week and they DO NOT have on call techs for the weekend but she puts a request out and whoever wants the work will call her back, so she is at their mercy. I asked her if the owner, Brandon Burton, was aware of this incorrect information being on his company's website and she said that he had been made aware but she will bring it to his attention again. read more

Installed the toilet drain too close to the wall. No the tile needs to be ripped out and I need to install an angled drain. David was quite lazy and asked to park in the neighbors driveway because he didn't want to carry his tools down a 100 foot long driveway. Then he left his tools scattered across the garage over the weekend. Never swept anything ever. Installed an outdoor spigot that when turned on splashed against the gas line, because he was too lazy to drill another hole s and reused the old gas line hole. read more

This company has been great to work with. Last year we had them replace our hot water heater, and today we had a toilet replaced. Chris was friendly and professional, and offered us great advice (instead of repairing a 10+ year old toilet, he suggested a new Kohler because of their warranty, and the fact that it would save us money in the long run). We purchased a toilet from Home Depot, but when Chris opened the box, the base was broken! Chris was kind enough to wait while my husband ran to Home Depot to exchange it, and the install was done quickly and professionally after that. I would definitely recommend him! read more

We had a leak on our side of the water meter. They sent out Parker who arrived around four o'clock and did the best he could do before dark at 8:00. Maybe someday he will be a plumber. My husband helped him close up the open pipe so we could have water overnight. With Three women in the house, that was important. The next day, Shaun came and fixed the leak in 20 minutes! We had polybutylene water supply lines in the crawlspace of our 30-yr-old cabin. They sprung a leak in Dec 2021 and we did not want to expedience this again. In July we contacted The Original Plumber in Jasper, GA. Austin Chastain and his helpers came out to inspect, then made a recommendation to replace this leak-prone pipe with PEX pipe. They picked up supplies at a local business and returned to complete the work - all in one day. They were on time, professional, and cleaned up after their work. Had a couple of estimates from other companies before I chose The Original Plumber. They were less expensive, but neither came in my home to check water lines or pipes. Ryan, with OP came in and checked every single thing and explained everything in complete detail. He said he could patch the problem or completely fix it with a guarantee. Since my house is almost 40 years old I chose to let him fix with all new pipes! He is so professional and personable! Fine, until they are paid. Tree fell during storms, broke septic tank. They did the work they said they would, sent an invoice. Insurance had some questions and needed clarifications on certain things, and could not get any response. I called myself numerous times to no avail. they of course called for payment, and I paid assuming they would follow up with State Farm to clear last invoice, I WAS WRONG. 5 weeks have gone by and State Farm nor I can get in contact with plumber. Doesn't matter what your concerns are, once they are paid they wash their hands of you. read more

I don't know where these negative reviews are coming from. Plumbing is expensive and you pay for what you get. I had all kinds of issues due to the County changing some meter outside my house. "Rooster" came to my house, I told him all my concerns, we discussed an upgrade to my water heater as an additional thing I wanted done on top of the things I needed done. He gave me a quote, I had 2 other companies quote the same repairs, but chose The Original Plumber mainly because of Rooster. The quote was not the lowest but was not the highest either, but Rooster explained things, answered all my questions, gave me options and did not speak to me like a dumb lady!!! He came back the next day and went way above and beyond to get me back up and running!! He was very polite, didn't mind when I was being nosey and wanted to see what was going on. My water is now flowing even better than it was before, all issues were fixed and I would definitely use them again JUST BECAUSE OF THE PROFESIONALISM they demonstrated, everything else was a bonus. read more

When I still hadn't heard from them by 11:40 I called the company and was told the plumber wouldn't be able to get to me till between noon and 5 now because he lives an hour away and was stuck in bad weather.
