My wife and I had lunch there yesterday which ran $60.00. This 77 year old customer asked for a cup of water to take medications. In California, that is a STATE requirement to provided water for customers. They stated that they DO NOT provide water. You must purchase it! Then when we left, we asked where to put our trash from LUNCH. We were directed to walk it outside and deposit the trash in the City Trash reciprocals, which was OVERFLOWING! Really? The restaurant can't handle the trash they produce? The MANAGER confirmed their policies... NEVER AGAIN! THEY WILL NOT SUPPLY TAP WATER TO CUSTOMERS! California restaurants are required to provide tap water, but only upon request. Under state water conservation regulations, restaurants, bars, and similar establishments are prohibited from automatically serving water unless specifically asked. Been coming to this local cafe for a few months since moving into the area. It's a nice neighborhood Mexican cafe away that's far enough from the Old Town main drag (Main Street) but still walkable (2 blocks) after a meal for shopping/strolling. Street parking is much easier to find, no circling required. Each time we come on the weekend we would try something new -- EVERYTHING is excellent. Burritos, chilaquiles, tacos, etc. Every time we come, nothing is too salty -- just how we cook at home. This particular visit we happen upon their SUNDAY MENUDO, made by Chef Mom. Gotta try a bowl, and let me tell you -- I was blown away. Heavily and nicely spiced (not "water"), chockful of tripe/stomach, including the HONEYCOMB. AND NO HOMINY. I LOVE IT -- because I'm never a fan of hominy and hate it when all the dads and uncles at family gatherings get all the good stuff and the kids are left with the bottom of the pot. Cute little cafe located on the main strip of old town Tustin. It's not full service, so you do have to order at the counter, choose your own table and then they bring you the food. The service was excellent from beginning to end. The lady that greeted us at the door, the girls who were behind the counter and the servers were all incredibly polite, friendly and really made you feel welcome. I had the chilaquiles rojos and they were absolutely delicious, best ones I've ever had. It is a very generous portion too, with rice and refried beans as sides. Wonderful, cozy breakfast spot on a sunday morning. We tried coming here once before and got totally caught in a chili-cookoff instead. Finally, 1 year later, we made it!! We came totally starving and ready to wait, but the food came out SO fast. You pay ebfore you sit, and walk away from the counter with your drinks. I got their cafe de olla (delicious, syrup made in-house!) and boy got the horchata. Sat down and were almost immediately served our food. My only complaint is the beans - they seemed a little watery and unseasoned. But the salsa more than made up for that :) The inside is tiny, and theres limited outdoor seating. But it's cozy and homey and all the employees were incredibly kind. I forgot my purse when we left and a woman pretty much ran down the sidewalk to get it back to me. Thank you!!!! read more

Came here for brunch with my cousins a few weeks ago and I'm still thinking about this dish! I ordered the Enchiladas Suizas and OMG it was delicious! The cream sauce was unlike any other I've had with enchiladas and they were stuffed with a good amount of cheese! I added carnitas on top because I wanted a protein with it. This was a filling breakfast for sure! I also ordered an iced dirty horchata which I think next time I will order it to go so I can enjoy it later. El Camino Cafe sits at the tail end of El Camino in Old Town Tustin away from all the hustle and bustle, so parking is easier to find. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. You go up and order and then take your seat, and they are quick with preparing your food. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and quick to address any additional requests. I ordered the meat scramble and my wife got the huevos rancheros, and both tasted great. You could tell everything was freshly made, and the salsas provided were solid. The rice & beans were also good and well seasoned. It was a little odd they didn't provide complimentary water, but otherwise this was a solid, reasonably priced meal. I definitely want to come back and try their breakfast burrito next time, and would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quick breakfast in Tustin! read more

My sister introduced me to this place and I'm so glad she did. The food is so good, tastes like a homemade Mexican breakfast that my grandma would make. In addition to it, I love the vibrancy and homelike feel that the place has, it feels like you're walking into someone's home rather than a restaurant. It helps even more that the owner and workers are so welcoming and friendly with their guests. This place fucking sucks, went in and ordered around 12:30pm, around 12:56, we still haven't received our food. Such a coincidence that when we ordered our food, our order wasn't placed after we already had paid. My wife got up and told them where was our food, because everyone who came after us had already got their food and left. They told her the food hasn't even been made, they said it would take another 10 minutes when we already had waited for 30 minutes. We just asked for a refund and left. I love this place so much! Not only is it walking distance from my home but the ambiance is all there. The food is so tasty, the coffee/s and fresh OJ do not disappoint. The fresh OJ is used for their mimosas which is where they stand out to me, as well as the quality of products they use for their food(you can taste it with every bite). This is a Mexican brunch restaurant at the end of Old Town Tustin. Everybody is friendly. Clean. Cute furniture. Beautiful day to sit outside. I ordered their chilaquiles Verde. It was delicious. I liked the slight kick. I ordered it with carnitas as my extra protein and all beans and no rice. My only complaint was that some of my carnitas was dry. They make their own tortilla chips which are still crispy - not soggy from the sauce. The egg, rice and beans round out this dish. Carne asada with cheese, avocado and side of salsa rocks my brunch. Can't go wrong with this carnivore meal. It's tasty and filling. High quality meat makes this a WIN for sure. We asked if they had any pancake or waffles but they said the didn't. We thought that was random for being a breakfast place. We also ordered the macchata and a reg coffee. The gal who took our order was fluent in English and Spanish and that just wonderful, I love the fact that she spoke directly to my mom when she ordered her food. Food came out fast and it was delicious. The place is very small but it is clean, organized, friendly, and busy. The same gal who took our order at the register was the one who brought our food and also the one picking up the tables and cleaning and organizing and doing it all. It was sooooo good the first time that I had to go back the next day and I must say it didn't disappoint. I got the Enchiladas Suizas with Asada. The creamy salsa verde, perfection! Went here with my girlfriend because it was close to the motel we are staying at, upon arrival we were told by a customer walking out that we had to get the Heuvos rancheros so we did, and we ended up being pretty disappointed, the reason for the review however, is that when I asked for a glass of water when we ordered I was denied, they said they only serve bottles of water (straight up illegal in California to not serve tap water upon request) so I asked again when our food arrived and again I was denied, I then asked for the manager who told me AGAIN that they don't serve tap water I had to buy a bottle, this level of incompetence from the manager of a restaurant is pretty insane to me. I live about 6 hours from here so I looked up the law to make sure it still applies in this county and sure enough it still does. While writing this review I saw another one that says they denied a 77 year old man a glass of water to take his pills. Pretty infuriating experience I would just go somewhere else, until they decide to start giving people water. read more

The best Mexican restaurant in Tustin from my experience. For food, I can only speak for the Cecina and the Verde Chilaquiles because these were my initial orders and everytime I go, I can't not get them, they're so good! The Chilaquiles lean on the crunchier side but you ask for extra sauce. For drinks, I have ordered the fresh Pressed OJ, Black Coffee, and Dirty Horchata (includes espresso) - all of which I would order again. I was surprised by the black coffee since places of this style usually have basic stale roasts, however, their black coffee was pleasant and it seems like they use fresh beans. Their service style is pay at the counter and you can sit and eat. There are no waiters, just people to deliver the food at the table. A lady, possibly the owner, has always greeted us at the entrance while waiting in line. Service at the counter is also very polite and friendly. Of the two times I've dined, the food was delivered to the table almost immediately. The restaurant is fairly small with limited indoor seating and outdoor seating but still sufficient. This place mostly excels for the quality food and pleasant interactions with the staff. To-go containers are conveniently available at the counter. Overall, this restaurant is great for enjoying Mexican food to go or in small groups. read more

Stopped by for breakfast on a Saturday gloomy morning and there was a noticeable line. One that doesn't decrease in length or wait time regardless of what time you show up. But the food is worth it! What people come for is the chilaquiles but what I would return for are their breakfast burritos. And I'm not just saying this because I have teeth-incompetence but it's so fluffy and carbs with moisture. Even the potatoes delivers the perfect tenderness next to its eggy brethren. And the green sauce goes so well with every bite as well as their hot sauce which is not for the mild of heart and tongue. Their chilaquiles have such a great flavor. The sauce, the rice and the chips. Damn. It's creamy and well spiced with a light snow blanket of cojita. Very smooth Cuban espressos.
