In Georgetown for a few days and am fortunate to be here for the first day of the season for The Osprey! Land and Sea dinner was excellent. We also had the Lobster Caprese which was very good also. Our servers and the owners were very attentive and we were happy to share this seasonal opening with them. Obviously a very happy occasion for the locals. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Comfortable dining space with great views of the water and the ospreys.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Rolled in with cutoffs and a tshirt and immediately felt right at home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat at the bar and were welcomed right away. The. Food. Is. EXCELLENT. Oysters were from right out the back door - incredible. Seafood stew, clam chowder (the best we ever had - not even kidding) and smoked mussel tapenade - all excellent. Great wine and beer list, cocktails too. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Good music and not too loud.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great vibe to the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Owners are great. Attentive and fun and not overly so. They genuinely care about the staff and it shows. Can't wait to come back.

Stopped in during our vacation in Maine after hearing a recommendation from friends that live nearby. Overall, I felt the food was a little overpriced but it was tasty. It was also very hot in the dining room so it was a little uncomfortable for me. It did have a nice ambiance. I started with a thyme gin rickey which was strong and refreshing. We came in on the later side, around 8pm, so the special tuna dishes were all gone and the waitress forgot to tell us this before we had already made our selections. I settled for the lobster mac and cheese which was priced at $17. I was expecting a much bigger bowl for that price but it ended up being a tiny cup. It did have nice chunks of lobster. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals - steak fries, seafood chowder, green salad etc. The sweet potato fries were really good and I couldn't stop eating them. The desserts were quite large and we struggled to finish them. The tart was around 6" diameter. The pot de creme was pretty dense and rich but offset by the passionfruit. I would have preferred a smaller dessert and larger entree. The food took almost an hour to come out. The restaurant was pretty busy but I felt it was quite a long time for a table of 4. Waitress was friendly which helped make up for it.

Best lobster roll in Maine. You can fight me on that.

I'm reluctant to review The Osprey because ... well, I'm local and this is one of our favorite places and YIKES do we want it to get so crowded with People From Away that we'll never get a seat again?!? But the owners and staff here are knocking it out of the park and effusive praise is due. The Osprey has changed hands several times over the past decades but this current iteration of "The Bird" is its happiest, most delicious, and most creative. For families and pizza lovers who want a terrific view of a lovely Maine harbor (complete with Osprey nests and the occasional seal poking its head up) the outside lawn scene (think: picnic tables, dogs allowed on leash) is great. The Osprey makes excellent wood-fired pizzas. So excellent in fact that Local Luminaries of the Elected Kind (who shall not be named, sorry) might even have had the pizza maker cater their daughter's tented Georgetown oceanside wedding. Yes: that good. Indoors the ambience is fairly ordinary but a BIG, brighter improvement from past years. If you're lucky enough to snag one of the outdoor patio tables (my preferred spot) you might be tempted to linger for hours, watching lovely boats put in at the dock and people-watching the folks who disembark. All while very friendly, helpful waitstaff serve you excellent drinks and outstanding food. I won't run down the entire menu, but to call out a few highlights (see pictures) and throw down the gauntlet here: this might be the best lobster roll in Maine. PACKED with fresh lobster, on a perfectly toasted-buttered roll, just the right amount of mayo/butter. If you're an oyster fan: the offerings vary but Maine oysters are really coming into their own and at our latest visit we had a half dozen outstanding Eros oysters from Georgetown, and WOW. Watch out Wellfleet. Drink pours are generous, cocktails are creative and The Spicy Margarita is memorable. What can I say? The Bird is Back and we hope it's here to stay.

I want to give this place more stars! We came for the view (which is lovely), we came because we were hungry & we will return because the crew here is phenomenal. They love what they do, they love where they work and it shows! My experience started when I called mid afternoon to confirm an online reservation and was greeted by the nicest person on the planet (I later found out was one of the owners). We got there and they were a little backed up and so we were 1 of 2 reservations on the porch, but there was only 1 table available and the super kind locals let us have the porch table. I'm telling you people walk into this restaurant and just want to be kind. We were recommended to order the scallops which came with polenta I wanted to bathe in! Our server, Amanda, was amazing. The hostess (I didn't catch her name) was so super kind as well. The vibes are just good here. I feel like the food tasted better because there was so much love in the building. I know it simple to feed people but it's harder to do when a restaurant down the street closes early for the season, half your staff goes back to college and you've likely been working every single day since May but man it does not show with this crew. If Ted Lasso was to own a restaurant, this would be it. Make the Osprey the top of your list when you are planning your next dinner out! Do yourselves a favor and give The Osprey a try, I promise, you won't regret it!

The Osprey was recommended to us by the owner of our B&B, and it very much lived up to her excitement about it. She recommended calling or booking a reservation as it does fill up. We read some reviews to get a flavor of what drinks and food to try, but there are daily specials to look out for, too! It was clear from our experience that the staff takes great pride in both recommending dishes and accommodating slight modifications (see below). For example, I wanted to try the Bee's Knees but asked for tequila instead of gin. Phenomenal drink with local blueberry wine incorporated and used during a benefit to support maintaining bee populations. My husband enjoyed both of his drinks as well! The food was the true showstopper. We asked for recommendations, and our waitress recommended 4-5 apps and entrees with a variety of cuisines and palates in mind. We ultimately selected the following: Lobster Mac & cheese - phenomenal with lots of lobster. Very creamy and the crunches on top added a nice touch! Seafood chowder - we tried several during our Maine adventure and can honestly say this one had the most amount and variety of seafood. It was truly delicious! Cornbread with house made sage butter - the cornbread came out last and it was clearly made to order. The sage butter was so freshly whipped and a nice contrast. Steamed Mussels with Thai chili sauce - the absolute best of the best. The sauce packed some heat but complimented not only the mussels but also dunking our cornbread in it! The gluten free brioche that came with the mussels was also delicious! We would definitely come back again!

Warm greeting from the hostess/owner who moved us to a table with a view without our asking. The menu featured local dishes - the seafood chowder was fantastic - and we shared a great ceasar salad and delicious cobbler. Don't miss this one - a real gem.

If you are reading this to help you decide if you want to eat at The Osprey, don't waste another second ... get over there now! My husband and I and 2 friends were actually headed to another restaurant because we were determined to have a lobster roll before we returned the next day to NJ. But the other place was unexpectedly closed. We had passed The Osprey, and the owner of the Airbnb where our friends were staying had recommended it so we decided to go there. On the way, they called to make a reservation but were told there was nothing for about 1.5 hrs. We were not going to wait that long but decided to stop anyway to see if they could find a table for us. Best decision! The owner was at the door and promised he could "make magic happen"! A short time later we had a table. We each got lobster rolls and although pricey ($38!), they were so delicious! Our waitress was wonderful. The star of the show though was the owner! He had such enthusiasm and passion for his restaurant that you could see it was contagious on his staff. As we were leaving, he offered us a taste of his homemade limoncello. It was absolutely excellent. If he had been selling it, I would have purchased a bottle on the spot. I would love to eat at The Osprey again!

So our dinner stop before heading to Boothbay was Five Islands Lobster. We arrived around 4pm, just before a dinner rush. Parking is tight, but you make do. I was able to find a spot to accommodate my care and the small packing trailer on the hitch. Once we were parked we made our way to the buildings. The one building you order your lobster, another building you order other items. It was a very easy and simple process. Between all of us there was so much lobster and other fine dining options. The lobster was fresh and sweet. It was very delicious. The lobster came with corn and potatoes. The butter was perfect! It had that foaming too I love! My husband enjoyed his fried haddock sandwich and the fried scallops. He raved about the fried scallops. The staff were great. They were kind, helpful and hard working. The view was stunning. We ordered 2 2lb lobsters, onion rings, and fried oysters. The lobster meat came right out of the shell (shout out to some man on the dock who helped us Marylanders with some verbal direction) and were full and flavorful! We are big crab eaters but it takes about 6 or more XL crabs to feel as full as we did with one lobster! The onion rings and oysters were perfectly fried and just as delicious. The oysters came with fries (which explains the ketchup) as well and all were large portions. It was the perfect location too! Not noisy, beautiful scenery, and just all around a great atmosphere.

The menu is brilliant, innovative and different from anything you will find in the region. Each element of each dish has been carefully thought out and come together to form and perfect bite. Forget your standard protein, starch and veg, Chef Nathaniel's plates are all beautiful works of art that harmoniously tantalize the tongue. We started with the Red Mussels, corn bisque, sweet pea ravioli, gazpacho, and tuna tuxedo special, as well as a mozzarella flat bread for my 6 year old dining companion (he devoured the entire flat). The menu offered two variations of mussels, a traditional white wine and garlic preparation and the red, which we tried, and they were some of the most delicious and different mussels I've ever had, including tequila, cotija cheese and tomatoes. Once we finished the mussels we ordered another serving of bread just to sop up the sauce (we used the bread for the pea ravioli pasta sauce as well!) Delicioso!!! I'm always excited to try a fresh house made pasta and these ravioli most certainly did not disappoint! Prior to the meal the head chef came out and explained to us the 288 lb fresh tuna that he was breaking down, accompanied with a Tuna Special Menu. We ended up getting the tuxedo tuna and I only wish I could have tried everything special, yummm!! For mains we got the scallops, the veal, the seared tuna special meal, the halibut and the crab cakes. Everyone was so stuffed by the end but there was nothing left on a single plate. Across the board, the flavor combinations were innovative and scrumptious. On top of being the most delicious food in the region, the atmosphere is the tops. Whichever level you are seated on provides you with a glorious view of the ocean and as the cheery staff bustled around we were serenaded by James Taylor-esque guitar and vocals. Everyone working there seems happy and helpful and BUSY! not too busy however to make sure you are taken care of. Thanks to the Henry and the manager for excellent and attentive service AND the dessert and drinks!! Do yourself and favor and try this one of a kind, elevated Maine cuisine! I've never left a restaurant in Maine more satiated. You go Newagen! Chef Nathaniel keep it soigne!!!

The Lawnmere seemed like a good idea on the menu, but oddly it lacked flavor. I had high hopes for this flatbread. I feel like we missed a mark here. The crust was great. My key lime pie was delicious. The coconut really added to the dish. My son devoured his pub burger and had no complaints. My husband said his calamari and fish tacos were ok. The heirloom tomato salad was the best. The arugula has a nice taste to it along with the layer of ricotta cheese under it all. The flavors really blended well with this dish. The bathroom was 10/10 for me they had a theme and ran with it and I love it. The lobster themed wallpaper really made it overall we had a nice lunch. Nothing spectacular. Maybe dinner is the meal to have here. We went at 2pm for a late lunch early dinner.

Well, I am sad to make such a review. This once-terrific…read morerestaurant, which I have been patronizing along with my family for over 40 years, has fallen into some poor hands. Glen and Diane sold the restaurant- and knowing them personally, I totally understand why- but the new owners have turned a reliable and homey place into a poorly-run attempt at a hip joint in a very quiet little beach hamlet. Today some family and I made a dinner reservation. We were sat almost immediately upon arriving, but our waiter was pulling double duty as barkeep, and he did neither job well. My Mom had to go up to the hostess to get place settings, to the bar to get our refills, to another server to check on the status of our order (which had been given to our wait 45mins earlier), and back to the bar to get our check. Our waiter never once checked on us; we didn't see him after he took our order until it was time to pay up. When we voiced our concerns, he was not thrilled to hear that he had done a poor job, and sent Chris, the manager (and possibly owner? Not sure) over to us. Chris did listen attentively and thanked us for our feedback, which is the only reason this review has as many stars as it does. The restaurant had a rather limited menu, and they were out of a lot of stuff. I ordered the fried scallop basket with sweet potato fries. $30 for half a dozen small, overcooked scallops and mushy fries? Not worth it. Their prices are sky high for the region and for the quality and quantity of food served. I know, I know- this sounds awfully like I am clutching my pearls and telling naughty children to get off my lawn. But over the decades of patronage of Spinney's- both the restaurant and the guest house- I had never had a disappointing experience before the new owners got their claws in this beautiful place.
