I love the Other Side. I love it for 2 things. The pizza is a really great, cheap, thin crust pie. I probably order pizza from here more than anywhere else because it is quick and good. I have just returned from a lovely Friday evening with a friend here. Lindsey was our server, and she was just delightful. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed the Friday $3.50 Blue Moon special and shared some bruchetta and split the Conchiglie Gorgonzola, which was divine. The atmosphere was pleasant, very laid back. My quasi domestic partner/boyfriend and I wandered in here one Friday after work. Since he is a turd and gave up alcohol for lent, there was no drinking and no meat..aka zero fun off the bat. We managed to order very fried item on the menu in addition to a burger. The burger - so great. I forget the name but it had pico de gallo on it. The waffle fries were excellent in addition to the service. It's average fried bar food, not my take but you can always order from The Pasta Bowl next door too, which is delicious. I need to take back a star after my takeout experience. While their food is great when eating in, I can't say the same about takeout/delivery. HORRIBLE Service. It took over 45 minutes to get a pizza and the wait was due to the server "forgetting" to put my order in. They then had the audacity to say it was my mistake since I didn't double check with the server on my order? I found out that my server Carlos was actually a manager. Been here many a time for happy hour after work since many of my co-workers lived close to here. The food is pretty good, especially their burgers and tots, but it's nothing exceptional. It's usually pretty crowded, and seating is just some bar tables with stools---not super comfortable for a group or if you stay for a while. As our weekly adventures continued, the drink specials dwindled in quality, which was disappointing. Overall, a decent place if it's convenient, but there are better places to get food and much cheaper drinks for a happy hour. read more

This is one of my favorite pasta places in Chicago! This establishment is split in half one side is called pasta bowl and the other half is called the other side bar. The pasta side has good pasta (my favorite is the farfale pollo) and the stoves are where the patrons can see the food being prepared. They offer a beer of the month for $5 and it's usually good. The other side is a typical bar with typical bar food, though you can order off of the pasta menu if you want. The service is always good, the prices are reasonable and the place is clean. read more

The amount of board games were lacking a little bit, but they did have cards against humanity which is great for a good group of people. I used to come here for dinner on weeknights when I lived in the area and I thought they had great bar food. They used to have a large pizza for $5 or something like that one night and it was delicious. I also used to love their buffalo shrimp. I've walked by this bar several times but hadn't ever stopped in before this past weekend. A solid neighborhood feel and several beers on draft and by the bottle. Also various cocktails, though I would probably stick to a craft beer. When I was there, they played a lot of 90s music, and there were some video games people were playing. My relationship with this classic Lincoln Park establishment is very much love/hate. What I love is the food. Between Other Side and Pasta Bowl, everything on the very reasonably-priced menu (and I've had everything, literally) is at least pretty good, and usually great. There are always great food and drink specials as well. Free wireless and friendly staff makes the food consumption experience worthwhile. What I hate about the Other Side? IT'S LOUD. LOUD, obnoxious people (seriously, you will never find a more retched hive of awkwardly looking and awkwardly acting people) doing LOUD things. The sound system, turned up to 14 whether a commercial or Miley Cyrus is playing, forces you to scream at the person next to you, and in a stupid display of indifferent self-awareness the bar actually has Advil for customers who develop headaches. Just because you blast music (there is even a speaker aimed outside which blasts music at innocent passers-by) does not mean that the bar is any more packed or that the people inside are having any better of a time. Again, very much a love/hate relationship. The Pasta Bowl should get four or five stars; the place is great. The Other Side would be the same if it just turned the f****** sound down and got rid of the board games which clearly draw the urchins. read more

Terrible delivery. DONT ORDER ANYTHING FROM HERE FOR DELIVERY. Waste of your money....WASTE of your time. We ordered two pizzas, two orders of wings, two orders of fried pickles.....2 hours later two cold burnt pizzas came and nothing else. The delivery man 'forgot' the pickles and wings. He came back with them 30 minutes later and they were probably the same ones they put in the fryer when we initially ordered them almost three hours earlier. They were like rubber, so gross. On Wednesday nights, this place has $12 large unlimited topping pizzas and $10 pitchers of draft beers. Now understand, it's not the deep dish this city is known for, but it's about as tasty as you can get for a thin crust. If you don't like it, then you chose the wrong toppings. The Other Side was my local bar when I lived in Chicago. It is very low key, so I consider it a very good place to meet up with friends. They have some good drink deals. I've also never ordered something that I didn't like. You can order standard bar food from the Other Side Menu or food from the Pasta Bowl Menu, so there is something for everyone! read more

Wednesday night is the night my coworkers and I go out to celebrate the fact that we've made it to the middle of the week. Having tried several bars, we've settled on The Other Side as one of our favorite places. Wednesdays are great for us since the special is $10 pitchers (Blue Moon! Stella! Guinness! Seasonals!) and $12 unlimited topping pizzas. The waitress is always nice, the glasses are always sparkling clean, and the beer is always cold and served to the brim. The pizza is pretty good as well - a delicious crunchy thin crust that can stand up to the crazy toppings we put on it (yay jalapeno!). And they have FRIED PICKLES! Hell yeah. I also love the fact that they have a variety of board games in the back - drunken Jenga has become a favorite of ours. The only problem? They are slow on Wednesdays, so they tend to kick us out pretty early - even if we haven't finished all our beer. But we won't hold it against them - we probably need to go home around 1 or 2 am after working an 11 hour day anyway. read more
