Great place to have casual drinks and food with friends. Highly recommend the buff a que wings and pizza.

I've lived in the area for three years and have been to TOS many times, but last night will be my last visit. Here's why: My friend opened a tab at the bar and when he tried to close it out, the bartender had given his credit card away to another customer (she was positive that only one patron was using a red Bank of America card). She said there was nothing she could do and the manager didn't even get involved. ??? The place was freezing cold due to a refrigerator-sized industrial A/C unit set at 55 degrees and blowing directly on the seating area. The ceiling vents are rigged with a cardboard Coors Light case to also blow directly on seated patrons. Nice. I paid $5 to play songs in the Juke Box and they kept getting pushed back in the queue. I inquired with the bartender and she said people can add songs with their mobile phones. Then when I'm leaving I see a manager on his phone adding his own songs ahead of mine. Lame. They moved the bar arcade games to the back seating area so there's no room to play. And kitchen staff is constantly moving trash through the narrow path created by the arcade games - Robert Irvine would yell at you for that. The experience here is miserable unless you're an employee who gets everything for free. Don't go. read more

I have been coming to The Other Side for the last eight years I've lived in the neighborhood. I've been raving to anyone who would listen about how great their pizza is. I think they have some of the best thin crust pizza in the city. However the last two times I've been there, this past week and about a month ago, the experience was really bad. Bad service, cold food, employees standing around talking, drinking and flirting instead of dealing with customers. There is clearly no owner/management oversight. On the night we were there, there were about 10 employees hanging out, some of them on duty and some just in there drinking. It seems like it's the place to go for employees because they get everything for half price. When we came in there was a sign on the on the outside for their Anniversary month promoting $10 large pizzas and $10 pitchers. When I asked the bartender for the special she said it's done, they just haven't taken the sign down. So we ordered beers instead of a pitcher. She then comes back 5 minutes later and says she was wrong, we can order the $10 pizza, but nothing about the pitcher special. We order chicken fingers to start and a large pizza for the special. The chicken fingers take about 20 minutes and with all the employees standing around chatting, by the time they bring them to us they are cold and the fries are ice cold. Must have been sitting in the kitchen for 15 minutes, probably without even a heat lamp. They were inedible, we ate 1.5 fingers between us. Staff didn't check on us once. It then took 45 minutes to get our pizza! The bartender kept checking on it and telling us a few more minutes. At least when it came out the pizza was hot and delicious (only reason they get 2 stars on this review), but about an hour for a pizza when the place is absolutely dead... it was ridiculous. The only people there were us, 2 or 3 people at the bar and a bunch of employees hanging out. To summarize, the pizza is good, the atmosphere and service suck. I'm done recommending this place to people if they don't get their act together. read more

I love this bar because in my Lincoln Park neighborhood it's not filled with Depaul kids or yuppies and that's hard to come by. It's a local bar with great food, the appetizers are pretty cheap and yummy and a big plus is you can order off of the pasta bowl menu which is connected next door and it is delicious. They have great food/drink specials throughout the week that are worth checking out and I would defintely recommend the homemade sangria. read more

Very friendly, low key atmosphere. Usually always a seat either at the bar or back at a table. Usually only on weekend nights does the place get jammed, so on all other evenings its accessible for seating, which is nice. The bar food, and the pasta bowl food are both available, and both delicious. The staff is super friendly, bartenders, managers and waitresses. It is a great community that is welcoming and outgoing. Special events are always a fun time here too. Good beer selections, fun place to do shots. Other side is a fun place for anyone and everyone! read more

Cheap tasty burgers, good service, chill atmosphere, and decent priced drinks. It's tough to find a bar in the area that stands apart from the others, but this place does. I organized for a group of 25ish people to meet up before our volleyball league began. Taylor from "the other side" called me to confirm our reservation the day of, and even left me his cell phone number. When I arrived there were 4 tables empty for us and a very friendly and attentive server. After an epic fail at ordering pizza from a locally owned chain, my roommate and I stopped in at The Other Side to try out their pizza. Allison was our server, and she was incredibly nice and helpful (you saved us, Allison!!!). The pizza was thin crust and crisp on the bottom, not greasy at all, and had a great ratio of toppings. This place is cute..filled with the Lincoln Park crowd of college grad professionals. The bartender is really sweet and Pasta Bowl is right next door if you get the drunk munchies. Drinks aren't too expensive..pretty good selection. Had tons of fun, especially when they whipped out the beer bong haha! This place is pretty small, but cozy. Everytime I have gone, everyone has been really nice and have gotten great service. Their cute sign is what got me to come in the first time and I'm glad I did. About the only drawback to this place is the size, other than that food is cheap, great drinks and a very friendly and quick staff. An excellent go-to bar. No matter the time of day, or day of week, you can't go wrong. Regulars hang at the bar, locals head to the tables, and random party groups swoop in for a drink or two before continuing their crawl. The place is lively, but not overbearing. This place is everything you'd want in a neighborhood bar. It's pretty small, but not toooo small, has a good amount of activities (darts, arcade games, board games), attentive and attractive bar staff, delicious and fairly-priced food, but the best part of all are the specials. Great little bar, but they should move the dart machine away from the front door. If you are walking in and people are playing darts, they are are crowding the door way, you have to interrupt someone's game, you run the risk of being scolded or hit in the head my dart players. read more

When I lived in this area, I loved meeting my friends here. This is a great neighborhood bar - decent specials and food, good service. The pizza is excellent and reasonably priced. The crowd is usually pretty relaxed unlike at other bars in the area. They have board games in the back that you can play (Connect Four anyone?). read more

Stopped in to meet some friends on a Friday. They had pretty much been drinking all day, the boy and I had some catching up to do. Our drinks were definitely strong. Great little hole in the wall bar, on the other side of The Pasta Bowl. One of things that I love about living near Clark St in Lincoln Park is the plethora of chill, dive bars. The Other Side is no exception. No frills, no pretense, just cheap drinks and really good pizza. They have a great special on Thursday nights for a large pepperoni pizza. It was great! My husband I come here all the time! It's our go to bar in the city!!Honestly one of the best bars in Chicago! The staff and management treat their customers so great! Carlos, the manager, is always so happy to see us and treats us so well! The drinks and food deals are unreal!! Not to mention their pizza is SO GOOD!! I wish I could give this bar 6 stars. The servers are so fun and attentive! The bar is equips with tons of board games. It's impossible to have a bad time at this bar. We were there on a Saturday afternoon to watch a game. We shared pitchers of beers and got a pizza ($10 for a large 2 topping for their 10 year anniversary!). Great place for pizza believe it or not. They used to have a great deal on Wednesday's XLG pizza with as many toppings as you wanted for $12 but haven't been here in awhile so the deal no longer exists but the manager overheard our disappointment and gave us the deal any ways. We are thankful and will still come back even if there is no more deal because 1) she honored the old deal which was cool and 2) the pizza is really excellent! read more

Great place for Monday night 50 cent wings and drinks. Great food and cool scene, lights made it a very enjoyable environment. Food was great , no complaints there. This is a pretty good neighborhood bar. They usually do an eat in, large pizza special for 8 bucks that is fresh and made on site, not the frozen garbage some bars sell. It's a good place to get a drink at, but because it is small, and Chicago still allows smoking in bars and restaurants, it does get a bit too smoky at times. read more

It's a slow moving bar; Not sure how else to state it! It is inexpensive, relatively, of course.

Music a bit too loud for just basic chatter and the dartboard by the door makes it difficult to get in that narrow little space....yet those are my only complaints. The staff is...lets put it this way, I was on a date and id rather have spent it with the waitress than my actual date, she was ten times cooler. Any girl cool enough to where a shirt with a cheeseburger on it is easily one of the worlds favorite people. Loved the atmosphere, the staff was super helpful and food was excellent. Plus great drink options. Great place to spend a Saturday night. I had been here before a few years ago and it was packed and not as friendly, but the new re-modeling and feel to it made this place easily a hidden gem.
