I'm not sure how I've missed seeing this place considering that it's HUGE, but I got to stop by one night during the week and check them out. I love that their brewery is front and center and that they actually offer tours of it and the beers they make (and regularly rotate) go perfectly with their menu. They also have trivia nights, live music, daily specials, happy hour deals and are a cool option for if you need somewhere to watch a game. My favorite were the garlic parm wings and the berry cider that I had. Nice spot! read more

The first time I went the food was not good. Since then I believe they have a new owner who incorporated Indian food into their menu. Their masala fries are delicious. They also have a coffee shop within it that is ehh. The space is huge and it's usually empty. Big beer menu. It's a block away so we can every few weeks. The shrimp tacos are also good. read more

New part of town I happened to pass through last week, saw this and thought why not. Nice space with the brewery behind the bar. We each tried two of their beers and all were clean and true to style. All good. Donna got the bleu burger with bacon and bleu cheese. The cheese was just right, didn't overwhelm the meat. I had the double smash. Simple cheeseburger with their sauce and pickles. Very tasty! The buns were light and airy but stood up to the patties just fine. Only downers were the fries from a bag and the service was a bit slow. Came to this local craft brewery and had you already know. Good Times is one of the more recent ones to open. It has quite a few on tap. A few pretty interesting ones that were better than expected. There's also something of a food menu. Bigger than it actually looks from outside but the inside isn't much better. It's got beers as well as food. There's actually enough to please any palates of all tastes. A lot of the beers have a unique flavor. It's about $8 a pint. Kind of a lot but this is also pretty close to Wrigleyville. Best we had of these was the En Fuego. This is a pepper ale, paired nicely with something hot and spicy. It's about $10 for appetizers. The one we got was the Chips And Guacamole. Also there's burgers. The menu is mostly meaty but there's some things including burgers and more stuff. For sure it's a great place for local beers. It's located on Broadway at Sheridan. I have been to Good Times a total of three times over the last three years. First two times were with friends and we had a great experience. Great beer, great food, great service. I went there last night on a date to grab a drink and split an appetizer. I feel compelled to warn the world they served the worst nachos I have ever had. "Bland" would be an uptick to what we nibbled at. It was like someone described nachos to the cook who then assembled the ingredients blindfolded. The nachos are not served warm or hot. All room temperature. The "cheese" was some orange liquid poured on it. No refried beans, just 8-10 individual lonely looking black beans. Jalapenos from a can. Sour cream that looked like it was squirted from a bottle. Good service, enjoyable libations, lousy nachos. If you ever wondered "How can someone mess up nachos?", this is it. read more

Wow! We were blown away by the food and service during our first time here! Our server was very charismatic and attentive. I had the veggie burger and it was the best bean burger I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it. I also loved the potato salad, it tasted pimento cheese inspired which I was a big fan of. I tried a beer flight as well and enjoyed all of the beers I tried. I've been around this area for a couple of years now been in and out of this restaurant a few times and it feels like whomever is running this place is literally running this business into the ground. The menu has gone through so many changes the whiplash is unreal. The food tastes like garbage you would find in a back alley. The drinks are mediocre at best. The core staff seems so miserable and makes the experience of dining in bordering on driving a nail slowly through my brain. The overall nail in the coffin was last Monday night when the Knicks game was on. Who screams and yells at their patrons to get out when there's 12 seconds of the game left? The tall grumpy bartender was clearly looking to lose multiple customers and has no business dealing with people. The other guy with the ponytail was very sympathetic and really understood the crowd he was working with very kind and charismatic. What a sad ugly stain on the community this business is. Good Times Brewery is a sports bar serving burgers, sandwiches and pizza in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. I recently visited there on a Saturday night. First, the food is mediocre. The food wasn't terrible, but I wasn't very good. I ordered the northhsted nachos, crispy chicken sandwich and goodtime's special cookie skillet for dessert. All the nachos in the northhsted nachos were stale. The crispy chicken sandwich was deep fried perfectly and to a golden brown, but had no taste other than saltiness. The goodtime's special cookie skillet was fine, but not better than any other cookie skillet I've had elsewhere. The service was uneven at best. When I first arrived, there was no one at the host stand. I wait for sometime, and the bar tender eventually came over and seated met. Once I got a table the waitress was on par. The ambiance was best part of the restaurant. The vibe is that of an elevated sports bar. The restaurant was clean and had many TVs that were playing college football. They have a large bar and appear to have a good beer selection. It's a good spot to watch a game. I'm not saying this place is to be avoided, but there are definitely better places in Lakeview and in Chicago. read more

We came by recently on a weeknight, and it was pretty quiet. Our bartender/server, Wyatt, was really good. He was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The beer selection was good and we enjoyed two flights. We both ended up ordering salads to offset all the Thanksgiving season food. Mine was a Southwest type salad and was a good size portion. The other salad had beets, strawberries, and lots of nuts. I think they were both good and I heard the dressings are homemade. We also tried the cheese curds which came out piping hot with two different dipping sauces. I would get them again. I think this place really shines most likely at primetime with bigger groups. It seems like they could accommodate quite a lot of people there are TVs at the bar if you want to catch a game and they were definitely solo diners there. Came here randomly and glad that we did! Got a cosmo and an Oktoberfest. Cosmo was just OK, Oktoberfest was really good. Fried pickles were really good- something about the batter. For entrees we had a smash burger and brisket sandwich. Both were pretty solid. Service was very good. read more

This was our third time trying good times brewery which is conveniently near where some friends live. This is a big and open space with numerous TVs and a huge bar. However, it seems they can't figure out how to capitalize in the space. Service here is kind, but slow and inefficient. The food is overpriced and extremely hit or miss depending on item. +Burgers are solid, but simple for the cost. -Cheese curds are subpar. -The pizza was a few overpriced chicken nuggets tossed on a cracker-thin crust with sauce. 3 strikes, we are out until this location gets turned over to something new again. read more

I love Good Times. We come through by this bar after a beautiful walk on the lake. Each time, we have beautiful service from friendly, lovely staff. The beer and margaritas are perfect, and on deal days, they are the best deal in town. Rinku often helps us, and she is the sweetest! She has helped us navigate the beer menu, capitalize on the deals, and overall just have a good time. She navigates large parties and small tables the same: with care, patience, and precision. We'd come back for the beer and food, but we would especially visit again because Rinku made us feel so welcome despite the large parties she had to serve at the same time. They had a comedy night a couple days that was entertaining, but the service was just terrible. Took 30 min for her to come back and check on us, and we were defiantly in need of more drinks and food. The table next to us had the same issue, and I think they even waiting longer. Got a late dinner with two friends. I ordered an old fashioned and it was delicious! Smooth. My friend had a mock tail and said he enjoyed it. We shared an order of nachos as an appetizer and demolished it. For dinner I order the Pat special on a personal size pizza and it was yummy! I loved the crisp crust. My friend got the steak tacos and said they were amazing. The bartender (Dave) informed us it came from the adjacent restaurant. My other friend got a veggie burger and side salad- reporting that it was tasty. It's a brewery and we sat at the bar; there are windows to view the setup for the beers. Lovely place to host a little mini event! We painted pumpkins and had a table or two to use and enjoyed the ciders all night long. Server was fantastic and quick to check on us and make sure we had refills if needed. Fried pickles were so yummy! read more

Overall I really like having this place close by. During the weekdays it can definitely be very quiet. When I went on a Thursday for dinner there weren't that many people so the bartender was also doing the role of our waiter but I did not mind that at all. He was great and very welcoming. Been meaning to try this for a while as it is close to my place. On a particularly cold night that was the only incentive needed. We had the Rueben and the Brisket sandwich. Both were absolutely terrible. I don't know how you make fries tasteless, but they managed. The Rueben was soggy and looked like it had American cheese on it and the sauerkraut was not even almost sour. Just cabbage. My partner had to run to the bathroom the moment we got home his stomach was so upset and mine wasn't doing much better. Hard pass. Especially at almost $20/sandwich. Pity. read more

Second time here, ended up leaving to get dinner elsewhere because we weren't able to get a dinner order in within the two hours we were there. The cheese curds were tasty but our server was pulling double duty as bartender and obviously extremely swamped on a Friday night. They were awesome but not able to come around as much as needed to get a dinner order in as well. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and going with 3 stars instead of lower cause there very well could have been a call off. The one server that was working kept hanging out with who I assumed was an owner while the bartender and host were HUSTLING, props to them. I've been here several times since it opened and like it a lot. Service had always been friendly and the food is good. If I have a suggestion it's to turn the front windows into garage style doors that can be opened on nice days. I think that the lack of any patio seating and/or ability to open the space to the outside probably hurts this place during the warmer months. read more

I stopped in here on my walk to Wrigley. This place was super packed. I sat at the bar, and they were slammed. I tried 3 of their beers on my visit, and all were tasty (double ipa, ipa, and hazy). For something to eat, I ordered the caprese sandwich. Although tasty, it took 40 minutes for me to receive my sandwich. My friend was going to order food, but since it took so long, we just split it. Friendly service behind the bar from both bartenders working as well as the bar back. I would recommend their beer, but if you are in a time crunch, food may not be your best option. read more

The service was fast and friendly, but the food was overpriced and underwhelming. We started with cheese curds, which at $14 was alot for the average-sized portion. I got the brisket sandwich for $19, and got only 2 small slices of brisket. The mac n' cheese side (not included) was huge but when you order a brisket sandwich, the brisket should have been the star of the meal. There was more pasta and even more bread than brisket. The beers were decent and what you'd expect at a brewery. I got the Hefeweizen, yummy! I'd have left 3 stars because they were so friendly but when we got the bill we couldn't believe that the $18 burgers (also not that big) and $19 sandwich didn't come with sides! Admittedly the menu didn't say if sides were included or extra, but our waitress didn't ask us if we wanted a side. She asked, "what would you like for your side?" so we all assumed they were included. $3 extra for (an average amount of) onion rings and $3.50 extra for (a big) mac and cheese. And these were not big sandwiches to begin with. At least one of our party got the pizza which he thought was pretty good. And the fountain sodas were $4. I went to Smylie a few times during their brief tenure in this space and enjoyed their creative and diverse menu. But this new place overcharges and underdelivers.
