    Double Smash
    Darren H.

New part of town I happened to pass through last week, saw this and thought why not. Nice space with the brewery behind the bar. We each tried two of their beers and all were clean and true to style. All good. Donna got the bleu burger with bacon and bleu cheese. The cheese was just right, didn't overwhelm the meat. I had the double smash. Simple cheeseburger with their sauce and pickles. Very tasty! The buns were light and airy but stood up to the patties just fine. Only downers were the fries from a bag and the service was a bit slow. Poor barkeep was serving the bar and all the tables by himself.

I legitimately had one of thr best Indian dishes I've ever had here. The tandoori chicken bites had so much flavor and this interesting subtle nutty spice. Really really good.

Came to this local craft brewery and had you already know. Good Times is one of the more recent ones to open. It has quite a few on tap. A few pretty interesting ones that were better than expected. There's also something of a food menu. Bigger than it actually looks from outside but the inside isn't much better. It's got beers as well as food. There's actually enough to please any palates of all tastes. A lot of the beers have a unique flavor. It's about $8 a pint. Kind of a lot but this is also pretty close to Wrigleyville. Best we had of these was the En Fuego. This is a pepper ale, paired nicely with something hot and spicy. It's about $10 for appetizers. The one we got was the Chips And Guacamole. Also there's burgers. The menu is mostly meaty but there's some things including burgers and more stuff. For sure it's a great place for local beers. It's located on Broadway at Sheridan. The beers are better than the food but there's a few things great for vegetarians.

    Veggie Burger with Potato Salad

Wow! We were blown away by the food and service during our first time here! Our server was very charismatic and attentive. I had the veggie burger and it was the best bean burger I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about it. I also loved the potato salad, it tasted pimento cheese inspired which I was a big fan of. I tried a beer flight as well and enjoyed all of the beers I tried. Can't wait to go back and try more!

    Northalsted Nachos

Good Times Brewery is a sports bar serving burgers, sandwiches and pizza in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. I recently visited there on a Saturday night. First, the food is mediocre. The food wasn't terrible, but I wasn't very good. I ordered the northhsted nachos, crispy chicken sandwich and goodtime's special cookie skillet for dessert. All the nachos in the northhsted nachos were stale. The crispy chicken sandwich was deep fried perfectly and to a golden brown, but had no taste other than saltiness. The goodtime's special cookie skillet was fine, but not better than any other cookie skillet I've had elsewhere. The service was uneven at best. When I first arrived, there was no one at the host stand. I wait for sometime, and the bar tender eventually came over and seated met. Once I got a table the waitress was on par. The ambiance was best part of the restaurant. The vibe is that of an elevated sports bar. The restaurant was clean and had many TVs that were playing college football. They have a large bar and appear to have a good beer selection. It's a good spot to watch a game. I'm not saying this place is to be avoided, but there are definitely better places in Lakeview and in Chicago.

    Brewers Beet Salad

We came by recently on a weeknight, and it was pretty quiet. Our bartender/server, Wyatt, was really good. He was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. The beer selection was good and we enjoyed two flights. We both ended up ordering salads to offset all the Thanksgiving season food. Mine was a Southwest type salad and was a good size portion. The other salad had beets, strawberries, and lots of nuts. I think they were both good and I heard the dressings are homemade. We also tried the cheese curds which came out piping hot with two different dipping sauces. I would get them again. I think this place really shines most likely at primetime with bigger groups. It seems like they could accommodate quite a lot of people there are TVs at the bar if you want to catch a game and they were definitely solo diners there. Parking was easy for us on the street since it was a quiet weeknight. Glad we stopped by to try this new spot!

Chicken wings with mango and habanero sauce

We had a New Year's Eve dinner at Good Times, one of our favorite places in our neighborhood. The chicken wings with mango and habanero sauce were super yummy. The side salad had a generous portion of fresh veggies with balsamic dressing. We also loved their Christmas and New Year decorations.

We came for a deal on Jumbo slices and beer but unfortunately it was take-out only for that deal. We decided to dine in anyway and everything was solid. Lots of different food and drink options. Very spacious and cool atmosphere inside. Seems like a great place to watch sporting events and grab some food and drinks!

Pat's Special as a personal size pizza

Got a late dinner with two friends. I ordered an old fashioned and it was delicious! Smooth. My friend had a mock tail and said he enjoyed it. We shared an order of nachos as an appetizer and demolished it. For dinner I order the Pat special on a personal size pizza and it was yummy! I loved the crisp crust. My friend got the steak tacos and said they were amazing. The bartender (Dave) informed us it came from the adjacent restaurant. My other friend got a veggie burger and side salad- reporting that it was tasty. It's a brewery and we sat at the bar; there are windows to view the setup for the beers. The room is filled with hi and lo top tables; there was a group celebrating a birthday after the Cubs win that day. I would come back if I were in the area.

Good beer; lacking atmosphere; food tasty but they charge extra for everything, even the lettuce and tomato on your burger. Beware!

I had been wanting to try Industry Ales when it opened and was glad to have had the opportunity to finally check it out! I was slightly thrown off, as the dining tables are at the front of this space, and the bar is all the way at the back. In fact, my friend at first glance thought it was a sit-down dining establishment sans bar seating. We found our way to the bar and posted up at two seats. We were offered menus right away and found the bartender extremely knowledgeable. This was super helpful when facing down an encyclopedia of ales. He offered samples when we explained what we were looking for. That is service above and beyond, especially on a bustling Friday early evening. The brews were tasty, but I couldn't really discern what I was drinking apart to say it was a lighter Belgian Ale. Wine is more in my wheelhouse, but always good to change things up, especially when a person has the opportunity to be guided by an expert. The people seated nearby had ordered the tuna tartare which looked delicious. In fact, all of the menu is globally influenced (think: pizza samosas, pierogis, Korean BBQ) in addition to the classic brewpub favorites. In addition to the Brewpub, this location features the Millroom, a speakeasy-style lounge. I did not have a chance to check that out on this visit. Definitely a cut above the usual sports bar and a place to expand one's knowledge of brews.

The staff was friendly and took the time to explain how everything works, which I appreciated. Now the food. So good. I have had a favorite taco spot for the past few months, but this place honestly raised the bar. They are known for their fried cheese tacos and they absolutely live up to the hype. The shrimp was delicious and the sauce reminded me of a seafood boil, rich and flavorful. The salsa verde was also great. I also had the fries topped with fried cheese, cilantro, and onions, and they were just as good. Everything smelled amazing and everyone at the table loved their food. One thing I really loved is their drink options. They have great cocktails, but also offer well crafted mocktails that feel just as intentional. On top of that, they have THC and CBD drinks, which really adds to the relaxed, laid back vibe. Overall, it is a great place to sit, hang out, and enjoy good food and drinks for as long as you want. My friend and I dedicated a day where we would just put our name down and however long it took we would wait haha. We drove into the city which took and hour and we put our name down and waited an hour before we were called. The weather was great so we just walked around the west loop area. We started with a half size of the green salad and a half size of the roasted bone marrow. The house salad is super refreshing. A lot of vinegar in the dressing which I personally really like. Also tasted some fennel which was an interesting flavor. The roasted bone marrow is the winner of the night. I would come back to Au Cheval for this alone. It was paired with a thick slice of Texas toast and a beef cheek marmalade and it is seriously the PERFECT balance of flavors. Fatty. Sweet. Buttery. Literally insane and this is a must order! Then came the famous burger. My friend and I each ordered a single cheeseburger with the egg and bacon added. Something to note is that the single cheeseburger actually has 2 patties and the double cheeseburger has 3 patties (3/4lbs of beef). The presentation itself is beautiful and makes you just not want to eat it haha. The burger itself is so decadent and hefty with the burger patties, cheese, egg and bacon. I'll be honest, I needed some more pickles or just something to cut all the fattiness of the burger. There were pickles in the burger and it is served with a huge pickle spear. But I still was itching for some more bitterness/acid to balance the flavors. It was so decadent, I couldn't finish it all. All in all, I would definitely come back and order the burger again and would recommend it to anyone! We ordered a side of fries which came with their garlic aioli. The fries were cooked to perfection. Super crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside and piping hot! The garlic aioli is perfect and have no notes for it. We also were treated to a vanilla scoop with chocolate sauce which was the perfect cap to our meal! Our waitress was so friendly and my friend and I loved her! She was so sweet and genuine. I'd like to throw in my own quote into the gauntlet: "it's ok". It sounds harsh but Our burger patty was noticeably dry. The bread... was also dry. The egg and bacon add-ons were good but as a whole, the burger was missing the core aspect. The bread being dry I can justify by knowing that Au Cheval makes it a point to make everything gluten-free (or so someone told me). I think that's cool but not necessarily what I came looking for. I actually noticed prior to our trip from photos that the buns looked noticeably arid but I gave them no heed because of all of the praise. And I can give them the benefit of the doubt that we were there on a Sunday night, so potentially not the most quality inventory (although I personally don't think that's a great excuse). The service and the ambiance were on point! If you're wondering if there's a required attire (no shorts or flip flops) I wouldn't fret, the atmosphere is a lot more casual despite self-describing as an "intimate" setting. It's definitely more intimate than a normal burger restaurant, with dim lighting and isolated booths but what you're wearing isn't going to dictate how other guests and staff feel. I would cover up anyways just cause there was ac running. I told my friend who moved from Nyc to Chicago and he said he felt the same. And one of our couple friends were surprised to hear the patty being dry, so... off day?
