I came here after all day XC skiing and sat at the bar and didnt know that I was hungry, but I was. I got an 805 draft and ordered a calzone, with sausage and mushroom, 2 toppings come with it. Calzone was good, I was a bit worried as it looked a bit charred, but it was quite tasty and a pretty large portion. The white girl in the bar , looked at my daughter and I, said sit where you want, there was no one in her area, the place was not busy. Server in a bad mood, we sat down right in the first table , close to the bar where she could see us , she could not miss us, a group of 5 came after us and she served them water and gave them the menu before us, I said maybe I'll go sit on the other side to get faster service she said yes, bitchy with attitude. Called around lunch time one day to ask about their happy hour specials and the lady who picked up the phone told us that there are different happy hour options each day and for that day it's half off wings. So, we made our way to the bar only to be told by the waitress that there's no happy hour special on food. BAIT and SWITCH scheme! Wow. She also told us that it's the holidays and thus there's no happy hour any day of the week at all. Hmmmm, it mid-January, and the only holiday is MLK and that was 2 weeks ago. What holiday am I missing here? Since I was craving wings, we ordered them anyways, as well as a few pizzas to share. The drinks were very weak, the wings were super tiny and very dry, and the pizza was full of dough and lacking any types of ingredients. The toppings were so thin, there was several slices without pepperoni on it. Everything just tasted terrible, Domino's pizza and wings tastes better. I was looking for a place to watch a hockey game and get some dinner and this place fit the bill. It's connected to John's Pizza, so you can get the same food plus the alcohol and minus the kids. It was already pretty crowded by the time I got there but I was able to find a seat at the bar. The bartender was slammed so it took him a while to get to me but he eventually did and was quite cordial and helpful the rest of the night. I got a meatball sub with fries and I was not disappointed: all that gooey melted cheese on top of tasty meatballs and zesty sauce, yum. The fries were just OK--could've been crispier. Yesterday at the the first game started, my girlfriend, her daughter and myself walked in to the bar bc we wanted wings and pizza to watch the game, the bartender couldn't give us a table bc we were only 3, he was reserving the tables for large groups he said. I told him that there was no other people waiting. He didn't let us sit anywhere. I was so embarrassed we do this kind of tricks in town! We went to Liberty and met other friends. My friend Mathew Lehman told me that the bartender told him that he could only stay in one of the tables for only a half hour bc he was going to need the table for larger groups. Enjoy your large groups. We are not coming back for a long time. I still can't believe the attitude and the manners to treat all guest from this venue. read more

Best place to come on NFL Sunday. They have Happy Hour during all NFL games. Service is quick and the food is quality bar eats. Highly recommend the onion rings and wings... You can also order off the John's Pizza Works menu as the bar and pizza restaurant are connected in the same building with different entrances. well ummm HELL YES I do like a Saloon especially one like this! Great service, strong pours, and grub flipping in from John's pizza through the gaping hole in the wall... The only problem here is getting a seat, but once had, well yeah its a nice set up and you WILL be properly taken care of IMHO. The decor is awesome and fits to the theme. Primarily wood paneling, bar top, columns, chairs, etc. The black cushions n table tops definitely contributed to the experience. They had a number of Happy Hour Power specials... but we sucked since we didn't get there in time for that. Happy Hour lasts from 4-6pm. If you can find a seat, grab it, they come at a premium over here. No joke at all on that one. Pro Tip: The inked blondie is hustling like no other and very nice, so hope she is your waitress... My friends and I had just finished eating on the other side John's Pizza and then we decided we wanted a post dinner aperitif. So a few of us moseyed on over and found seats and promptly ordered makers on the rocks. Talk about soothing delectable tastiness. These were heavy pours, what seemed to be a double + for $7. Definitely not a bad price at all for a bar and a name Bourbon. We thoroughly enjoyed our time over here. Consequently, it was a great time for us, especially since there was someone who was escorted from the premises and was a complete hot mess. I don't know why I keep forgetting to post reviews of this place. Maybe that just keeps me coming back so I can remember how it was! Overall, I'll have to say it was very decent. I have no problem coming here occasionally, as there a good variety of menu options, and several areas of the restaurant that all have a slightly different feel. I still haven't quite figured out the relationship between the saloon and John's Pizza works, but whatever. They're both good. It's a bigger space than it looks. This would be a great venue for large groups in town. They also do take-out, which is awesome because their wings are great! I've had the wings, Thai chicken pizza, and the caesar salad here, and I would call all of them "good" to "very good". They aren't anything to write home about, but worthy of repeat business. All I have to say is the chicken wings are great but the service is absolutely terrible. My first experience was going in on a friends birthday and three of us got yelled at for talking to loud at the bar by this bar tender with a mustache. We were then kind of pressed out and left. I've never once been yelled at at a bar for talking at a bar. Second time we got the wrong tab and the waitress was dead set me and one friend ordered 70+ dollars in food and drinks when really we had 2 beers and split some wings. It was a ridiculous fiasco, but finally found our tab and asked us why it was at the wrong table, made it out to be our fault somehow, oh well. Stumbled across this place. We actually went to a bar right down the street and they didn't have picklebacks so we went walking. Seen this place, went inside and sat at the bar. The bartender josh served amazing drinks and was super friendly. We asked if they had picklebacks and he said "sure do" . The food was amazing. Randomly stopped at this place and had some pizza and a pitcher of the Mammoth Brewing Golden Trout Pilsner. Both were very good!! The pizza came out piping hot and fresh. The management of this restaurant is the reason we will NOT be back. As season pass holders of Mammoth we come up for about 15 -20 ski days per season and are always on the look out for new places to try out and to find our "go to" spot. When the staffs of Mammoth Mountain Inn recommended this restaurant during our visit in early December 2013 and we were excited to leave the hotel for 4.5 miles drive into town to watch Monday night football, have some wings, pizza and beer. This restaurant is newly renovated and is where John's pizza used to be right under The Tap. We used to order wings/pizza from John and go upstairs to the Tap for beer. We were very excited for this place. The ambience was nice with large screen TVs all over. The waitress was very nice, knowledgeable and prompt. The décor was very pleasing but that is where it ends for us with an encounter with the manager. We ordered a platter of wings about 20 and a couple of craft beer to start and would have continue with pizza as the night pass because we were going to be there for entire Monday night football. When the wings came out shortly after the beer my husband and I were ready to devoured the wings because we were famished after a long day on the mountain. I normally eat my wings with forks and knives and my husband did same since he is with me I'm sure when he is with his guys friends he would use his finger. As the waitress walked up and asked if we needed anything else when my husband was cutting into his wings and found a long strand of brown hair wrapped around the wing. He pointed to the waitress and she promptly left. I jokingly quipped something about extra protein to him when we were the manager approached our table and curtly told us that none of his staff have long brown hair and that the hair could be mine pointing at my long hair. That offended us. He also said that some people come in looking for free meals. That disgusted us. He offer to take 10% off the check. My husband replied that we don't need the discount nor are we looking for a free meal. It was disgusting finding hair in our food but then to be insulted by the manager ended our night on a bad note. We promptly paid the bills leaving our wings, tipped the waitress who was nice and will NOT come back. Another restaurant in town off our list. I'm thinking eventually we might just stay at the hotel and not venture out to town since we have been disappointed more times than we are pleased with either the quality of the food or the professionalism of restaurants managements or sometimes rude staffers. read more
