Expensive and outdated restaurant. Two drinks, one beer and one Margarita totalled $32 with 20% tip. Like really... Margarita was fine, but served in a standard, 16 oz glass with plenty of ice. Didn't bother with the food after that; we went Epigram brewery and got 5 freshly brewed beers, a bar pizza and an app for $85 with tip instead. We would've been north of $120 at the Outlook for something close to that. Decor and furniture is unchanged from years past. Best thing is the view of the mountain, but not worth it at these prices and this quality. read more

I'd like to leave a review of the meal we had with our out of town friends, but when we arrived, they said they had no record of my reservation, which I made on the Outlook website 5 days in advance AND had a screenshot of. Needless to say, it kind of ruined our evening, as getting another reservation at 7pm on a Friday evening, even in 'greater' Westford, is amazingly difficult. We go here when my son is snowboarding for 6 weeks at night. They menu is OK, not enough healthy choices. Service can be hit or miss. Last 2 times issue with ordering and getting our food. Their nachos are large with plenty of cheese and comes with chili (which is really good not very spicy), sour cream, guacamole and salsa. Since we have been several times we have a many things. The Cajun pasta is huge and has plenty of heat just wished the chicken was grilled more to give some color. French Onion soup is good nothing exciting New England Clam Chowder is good thick and creamy The Wrap Fresh flour tortilla with lettuce, tomato, bacon, pepper jack cheese and spicy ranch dressing. The burger was cooked perfect med rare. "Scala" Meatball Sandwich is not really a sandwich a few huge meatballs on a slice of bread. needs to be eaten with a knife and fork. Mac and Cheese is creamy and a good portion for my daughter to have again the next day for lunch. Tuscan Meatball and pasta lot of pasta, my daughter is not a fan of the meatballs too dense. The beef burrito is very good. Onions and French fries are always hot and crunchy The kids grill cheese for $12 is a hit or miss for my son couple time it has been almost burnt or barley melted cheese. He usually just eats since he is starving and wants to get back to snowboarding. My favorite thing is their cheesecake. perfect size very creamy comes with a little raspberry puree and whipped cream (once it came with ice cream and whipped cream a little odd I thought. The Outlook has great year round views of Nashoba Valley ski area through floor-to-ceiling windows and a roaring fireplace in winter. The lunch menu is pretty typical pub fare but their salads stand out--I love the spinach salad topped with grilled salmon (someone in the kitchen really knows how to cook fish!). I can't believe this place isn't packed year round--I guess people assume it closes after the ski season. The Outlook is one of my Metro West favorites. read more

This place makes a real good and juicy burger. I was pleasantly surprised at the burger I had here, it didn't taste like the frozen and dry ones you get at many other places. The nachos were also very good and it was nice that they were generous with the topping on the tortilla chips. That unfortunately is where the raving about this restaurant ends. I also had the turkey panini which I had high hopes for but it fell flat. The turkey tasted like some cheap, processed meat that would be served in the correctional facility I worked in. If it was served there though, there might have been a riot. I was also excited to see sweet potato fries on the menu, but they ended up being dry and flavorless. I wished I had ordered the regular fries that my dining companions ordered, they were crispy and very good. The service was lackluster to say the least. The server wasn't very attentive and hit on many of my pet peeves. My water glass was frequently empty and she wasn't around much. She also dropped the check and left every single dirty plate on the table right up until after we left. Would I come back? Maybe if I was skiing and wanted a drink and a good burger or nachos. read more

This is a super-solid- 4 star restaurant. Which is kind of amazing considering it's the base lodge for a ski resort. Having been to quite a few ski resorts in my day, I can say with some expertise that most resorts have one of two things: 1) crappy food, or 2) "eh" food that's waaaay overpriced. The reason for this is simple- they have a captivated audience who most likely didn't bring food from home for the day and they mass-buy and cook their products. It's rare that you can actually get something truly "to order" in restaurants like this unless you're in San Moritz or Aspen. But I digress... In any case, I was pleasantly surprised by Outlook. Our little group had nachos that were jam packed with meet, cheese, beans, peppers, etc., etc. and super tasty for our appetizer and I went with the plan old classic burger and fries for dinner. I ordered it medium-well and it really was!Too often you order it that way and pray it doesn't come out looking like a hockey puck! So, kudos to the cook, who obviously understands meat temperature. And by its juiciness it was obvious that they didn't just throw a frozen patty on the grill to thaw out. Price was also reasonable (again, especially given its location). Burger, fries and drink together was under $15. Very impressive. Oh, and an extra plus- 3 tv's within immediate sight lines with the Sox game on it.! :-) Only a couple small critiques having to do with their service: 1. When I order a "Coke" please tell me if it's actually Pepsi. Growing up in DC with family from the deep, deep south, I know the difference. You're not going to pull one over on me. I can smell the difference! So... just ask me if Pepsi is ok. And when I say "no" (because, sorry Pepsi fans, but EEW), please have Dr. Pepper or something to quench my thirst and craving for caffeine. 2. Don't leave my water glass empty for most of my meal. Be a little more attentive and quick with the water pitcher. read more

The definition of slapstick is that you aren't the one getting the pie in the face. Today's lunch would have been comical if it had been someone else's experience and not mine. I was at the Outlook with a large group from work. We had a reservation. They pushed tables together, but really should have pushed one more there as a person had to sit at the each end of the table cramped for room. It is not like they needed the room as I have never even seen the Outlook even half full. They brought me the wrong beer. They also brought me the wrong meal. I ordered the chicken parm. I know that it is too large a portion, but it was good the one other time I had it. The person sitting next to me ordered the veal parm. I don't eat veal. I told the waitress that I was concerned that they would get mixed up and asked her to please keep them straight. I should have changed my order instead. When the orders came, she mixed them up. The meals were so heavily breaded and sauced, we could not tell them apart until we had each bitten into them. We sent our meals back. Sure. You are saying that was an honest mistake, but they were messing up many of the orders. Often the waitresses were trying to get people to take the meals that were brought out even though they were not the ones ordered. I thought that the service was terrible. When the replacement chicken parm (for me) and veal parm (for my co-worker) were prepared, the manager brought them over to apologize. In the process, he spilled sauce on each of us. The list of mistakes went on and on. One co-worker ordered a Rueben with onion rings. They brought it with fries. The waitress could not believe that he would not accept it anyway. A co-worker ordered a beer and asked for a slice of orange in it. The waitress from whom he ordered it brought the beer as ordered and the other waitress -- thinking it was a mistake -- plunged her fingers into the beer to take out the orange. Yum. I want to like this place, but I don't. I gave it two stars because it has a nice view, it is easy to get a table, and the food is okay. The prices are high, the portions are too large, and the service can make me wish that I just packed a sandwich for lunch. I can't recommend it because the service is mediocre at best and horrible at its worst. The food is okay, but really expensive for what you get. I know some people think that large portions make up for it, but there is such a thing as too large. I would rather have better quality. The menu is pedestrian. There are no dishes that really stand out. It may be a good place to pass the time as your kid takes a ski lesson, but it is not for me. I debated about giving it two stars, but settled on three. Most people come to Nashoba to ski, I come to Nashoba to eat. I really like this little restaurant/pub overlooking the slopes and I have been a fan ever since the first bite of my beloved Alpine Burger. I am not an avid skier, but discovered this place many years ago on my first visit to the haunted themepark attraction, Witch's Woods, which inhabits Nashoba every October. I live about a half hour to forty minutes from the mountain, so The Outlook restaurant is not a place I visit often, but I do keep it on my radar when in the area. If you ski Nashoba it's a no brainer to hit this place up after a day on the slopes. I also believe it's a great choice when looking for low key, affordable pub fare and drinks while in the area. Large windows at the Outlook face the ski slopes and in the winter offer a great view of the brave souls gliding down the mountains while I prefer to seek comfort inside with a burger and a beer. The atmosphere within the restaurant is very low key, maybe a tad dated, but yet very cozy and welcoming. A large bar fills the middle of the room while an ample amount of tables fill the space around the bar. A large stone fireplace sits at the far end of the bar behind a small stage where live bands can be found on the weekends. As I mentioned above, I think Outlook's burgers are surprisingly good, especially the one known as the Alpine Burger. This is the burger that has kept me returning with its black Angus beef, bacon, and cheddar cheese. It always seems to be cooked just perfectly. The rest of the menu consists of a few other burger choices and typical pub fare. On my recent visit this weekend we arrived late and were offered the very limited after 10pm menu. This menu features a few burgers and a couple appetizers. I was unable to talk my friends into the nachos so we split the chicken finger plate. The chicken fingers really hit the spot and were juicy and crispy all at the same time. Service is usually fast and friendly. During the Halloween season the servers are in costume so don't be surprised if Little Red Riding Hood comes over to take your order. Expect a very fun and lively atmosphere here. read more

A few of us stopped here for dinner on our way to Witch's Woods. It was a nice location and it was still bright enough to look out the windows and see the ski slopes and the games kids were playing. The sox game being on was definitely a plus, even though I'm not a huge fan it was still nice. The decor was definitely Halloween-y with lots of cobwebs and creatures and such hanging from the walls and ceiling and the servers in cosutme was fun. The service was eh - my biggest pet peeve with restaurants that have wine lists is that they are so generic. Offer me something I can't buy at the liquor store PLEASE! Our server was ok, but she originally got the two glasses of wine mixed up, when she poured water - she touched the pitcher to the glass (big no-no). When the busboy came to clear the nachos from the table he reached right in front of one of my friends. Sorry a little more training is necessary to unobtrusive. The nachos were good, sweet but not spicy, and almost every chip was covered with something bonus points for that. But more flavor would be great, they were a little bland and the cheese tasted a little different than the usual used for nachos. The burger was fantastic I would give 5 stars for this alone! It was cooked medium, juicy, flavorful, and I ordered the mogul which was mushrooms, onions, and swiss cheese and it had plenty of all of the above and was served with a yummy roll instead of the generic buns with sesame seeds. This was my first time having dinner here in the winter and I was somewhat disappointed by the variety of things on the menu. My dinning experiences here in the summer have always been very positive. But I felt like things were overpriced and the variety wasn't as good as in the summer. I had a $13.00 burger that was plain out average. So was my son's Mac and cheese. **3 1/2 stars *** Granted that we had a reservation and didn't have to wait I liked that. But watching the crowd, it didn't seem to be much of wait if they did roll in with a large group. The Good: * The burgers were huge! I got "The Mogul" and it was cooked to a medium perfection. The way I like it. But there was just so much food I just couldn't finish it. I only had half of my burger. * The Nachos - Great, could have used a lil more meat and jalapeños, but that's just me being picky. The Bad: * We could have also used a bit more sour cream between the 5 of us for our nachos. It was in a lil prep cup the size of a petri dish. * The wine list was as generic as you can get, but it sufficed. Although I can't complain much since she did pour my wine almost up to the top. Went up to the Outlook restaurant / bar after volleyball. Got there at about 10pm. Sat at the bar. Asked the bartender for a beer. Decided on a Sam Summer. The keg was tapped. Waited around a bit for that to get settled. While my bartender was gone trying to fix the Sam Summer situation, I talked to the other bartender to find an alternative, as I was thirsty. Decided on Corona Light with the second bartender. At about the same time I decided on an alternative, the original bartender came back with a Sam Summer. Super impressed with how fast a dead keg was tapped and turned into a drinkable beer. Once I got my beer I ordered some wings. A few seconds later the bartender came back and said "Sorry, Kitchen's closed." It was 10:06. I probably waited 6 minutes for the whole beer thing to get situated. I said "Oh, please. It's only 6 after. Can you ask again and see if I can just get an order of wings." The bartender spoke to the Manager and she said No. Total bullshit, as far as I'm concerned. The amount of years I've been coming to this place, whether it be playing volleyball in the summer or ski racing in the winter, and I'm 6 minutes over (and that's debatable based on the time it took to resolve the beer situation) and they won't make me a batch of wings. There are places that understand their customers are the most important part of their business. And their are places that know they have a captive audience and don't give a shit about their customers. Nashoba and the Outlook used to be the former, now they're the later. If it's snowing like the dickens and you want a romantic night looking out at the freshly fallen snow in a nearby restaurant, there's no place better. For any other reason, I'd find another place in the Westford area. There's many other choices around where you won't be subjected to being thought of only as a captive audience. read more

I have never written a negative review in my life but the way I have been treated the last few times I have come here has prompted this warning. I was discriminated against. They refused to take my reservation and then refused to seat us despite ample available seating. I will never return to this establishment again. Horrible service. Came here for my birthday dinner. First we were offered a table that overlooked the strobe lights from the witch's woods. Then we were moved to a table directly under a very loud tv. When we asked to have it turned down, the bartender just turned it off. We ordered an appetizer, salads and dinner. We were served our salads one at a time, no appetizers, and then our meal. Good thing we didn't want dessert because our waitress gave us our bill early because her shift was ending. My husband and I had our wedding their March of 2009. The food the setting the day everything was beautiful. We went back again this winter and had the worst food, service everything. The new menu could not be any worse, The Chicken Marcela was the worse thing ever. I'm not coming back here ever. Here's why. 4 adults, 2 kids. *VERY* Expensive. More than $140. (1 drink each adult). Two entrees, Two sandwiches, and a couple kids meals. 1. The onion soup was among the very best I've ever had. Truly very good: not over-salted like lesser cooks do. 2. The person who got the BLT said it was great. 3. The person who had the fish sandwich said it was very good. 4. My $19 chicken parm was the worst I've ever had. Absolutely no taste. Even the marinara sauce that was part of it fell flat. I don't know what to make of it, but I couldn't get through it. 5. The person who ordered the shimp scampi (pasta dish) said it had no taste at all. Waitress was nice enough. All in all, absolutely not returning. Way over-priced to have expensive entrees fall flat like that. Took a chance thus afternoon and went to The Outlook for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. The view is great, fireplace is beautiful, and the waitress was attentive, albeit a bit inexperienced. Our party of five tried sandwiches, burgers. Chili, and shepherd's pie - everything was good! The building is looking a bit shabby and smells musty when you first come in. The food is a little bit high priced in comparison to the quality. if your looking for average American fare you may be scared off by the pricing. The beer is always cold and the drink are always great. the bar is huge but as a local i wish this gem didn't house so many pretentious skiers. Like seriously get over yourself people you are at Nashoba. Hate the live music but love the 6 50 in plasmas they have strategically placed. Come by and have a beer great local hangout. Good food, beautiful surroundings. Would have been 4 stars, but I take away a star for service. The last two times I went (lunch time) the service was terrible. On both visits, it took a while just to catch someones attention to seat us. Then on my last visit, somehow our order never made it to the kitchen. After waiting over 15 min's after placing the order, the waitress said "it'll be out soon"... we waited about another 10 minutes and then the waitress came back and told us that there was an error and our order never made it to the kitchen. So our quick lunch out ended up taking about an hr and 1/2. For dinner it would be more understanding (and hopefully they would have done something about the error instead of just saying "whoops" and not even refilling our drinks), but lunchtime is precious and they should pick up the pace. read more

This used to be a good hangout spot after skiing or while wait I g for the kids to ski. What was a good bar and good ambience has turned to miserably slow service and overcooked and moderately tasteless food. The best part of the restaurant is sitting by the fireplace on a cold night but even that is gotten worse with smaller fires and having the band next to the fireplace when there is live entertainment. I really like the look and feel of this place. There is a great stone fireplace on one side and huge ceiling-to-floor windows overlooking the base of the slopes. Around this time of year, I especially enjoy the way the serve pumpkin ale with sugar and spices around the rims of the pint glasses. Have really only visited the Outlook when skiing and stopping at its bar for a cold one after a long day on the slopes. It has a nice, comfortable bar scene, typical of a ski lodge. Decided to finally take the family for dinner there the other night and, man, what a disappointment. The service was exceptionally bad, as the waitresses generally seemed to be high school seniors that had difficulty juggling more than one table at a time. Ordered appetizers and entrees, but waited forever for food to come. (And, good luck getting attention of the waitress, who never stopped by once to "check in.") Not only did the food take forever, but when our waitress finally showed back up, she had entrees in hand, but "forgot" we had ordered an appetizer first. Food was marginal at best. Very disappointed, as we really could use a dependable, casual restaurant in this area. Perhaps it was just an "off night" for the staff, but it was very frustrating. read more

My parents came here while my husband, me and my sister went snow tubing. They must have been there about 1 hour maybe slightly more when we joined them. My parents already wrapped up their check (which included 2 meals and 2 drinks) when we ordered 2 beers for ourselves on our check. All of a sudden it was a big deal that we were still there because the manager basically came out to chase us away... Even though we're spending more money and not just sitting there taking up space. Really, a joke of a restaurant. Do yourself a favor, try not to stay too long if you have to go! Oh and be prepared to pay $10 for a couple if beers. Ridiculous. The worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant! I called a week in advance to make a reservation for a party of 10 to celebrate my wife's birthday. When we arrived, the inexperienced hostess hadn't planned for our reservation as we were seated at two tables that didn't connect together. When the waitress finally arrived she took our drink orders. My sister in-law ordered Prosecco and received a glass of Chardonnay. When she reordered, the waitress instead of saying she didn't know what Prosecco was, brought another glass of Chardonnay. At least my sister in-law received something as the waitress didn't write down the drink orders and forgot mine altogether. I forgot to mention that the drinks took over 15 minutes to arrive. When our meals arrived, there were more mistakes. Three of us ordered steaks medium-rare. One came perfectly cooked and the other two were cooked medium-well to well. If you can get one of the steaks right, it seems to me that you should be able to get them all right. Additionally, the haddock was full of bones and almost inedible. We then ordered desert to celebrate the birthday. Unfortunately, the desert arrived without the table being cleared of our entree plates. When we asked if the table could be cleared, they looked at us like we were asking for something that had never been done before. And last came the check. Unfortunately they included an 18% gratuity because of the size of the party, but they also included an extra drink we never received. I'm not sure if the management is new or they just hired inexperienced people, but unfortunately Outlook is a place we used to frequent often that we will not be back to unless management makes a complete overhaul of the staff. read more

Inside a very laid back ambiance with beams, a fireplace and large glass window overlooking scenic pine trees and night skiers, I had a juicy Angus burger with sweet potato fries and a spicy Indian ale. Went here just last night for their Christmas ugly sweater party. We were greeted at the door my very young hostess. She sat us near the window in the back. Sat for 30 mins with no waiter! Had 3 different staff members wanting to know if we sat ourselves. WTF!? The tables were moved together for our party of 5 with 5 Menus on the table. We were also asked if we had been waited on!?! Again WTF? Finally we get a server who was very attentive and kept apologizing for the mixup. Our drinks were awful and they bought us the wrong appetizer .Manager did come to our table and took responsibly for the screw up. They comp our bill for us. I am grateful for that but our night was ruined. The music our terrible and way too loud. They only played one Christmas song. Mind you this was s ugly Christmas sweater party. What a joke. My friend and I spent hours making out sweater . people kept coming to our table say how much they loved our sweaters. This contest was was terrible and very unorganized!!! The band never asked for people to come up to judge the sweaters. The next thing we know they are an announcing the winners!?!?. Very bad experience for the night. We wanted to leave but stayed for the sweater contest that we were never given the chance to be in. I have them 2 stars only because management tried to make it right . Food is mediocre to alright depending on what you get. It is very loud on Fridays and Weekends. They are definitely under-staffed. There is poor service. It appeared that all of the waitstaff were about 16-18 years old and they really dont care much about customer service. Also, when I was in the bathroom I saw a staff member come in with her rubber gloves on, she used the bathroom, texted someone and then left the bathroom with one glove still ON!!!
