From Detroit, mega tourist here for a concert. Food is 100% incredible, made with love. Clear menu, not too bloated but ripe with options. Went to catered event with their food and it was not good. Carne asada was greasy grilled top with oil and tough seriously like gum, pastor was extra greasy with fat on it and dripping. Chicken was dry not tasty. Salsa was horrible the red one had some kick bit no bueno. Mexican rice was bland and light orange very little flavor at all. While my friend wanted to support local business. I think they are just cheapie Mexican food not worth the money, no one commented it was good at the party. They need to step up cooking and food quality if they want to stay open. I would not recommend or order again for the those reasons. read more

This was our second time at The Outpost but at their downers grove location. I ordered the chilaquiles which I have been dreaming of since the first time I tried them. The steak and green salsa pair amazingly along with the sauce filled yet crispy chips. My boyfriend tried the bowl with their chorizo. Their family owned recipe chorizo was flavorful and had the right amount heat. Along with their delicious food, the outpost had a warm welcoming staff that were quick with service and very helpful. Although the chilaquiles are a favorite, I can't wait to come back and try more items from their menu. read more

Wow I stopped by here on my way out of the Customs/Global Entry building, which seems like it's one of the only buildings in the vicinity of this restaurant. I thought it looked like a hole in the wall and I was right - not only was the food really good but the value was amazing. Came for the Firecakes/Colombe pop up. Got the Valrhona chocolate donut and a canned cold brew along with the steak and chorizo breakfast burritos. Immediately noticed how clean and nice the kitchen was and can feel the pride they have in their work. I met who I can only assume is the owner who is very nice and she explained that everything is made to order and that the food won't have you feeling heavy afterwards to which I agree and was delighted by. Their steaks are cuts from steakhouses and their chorizo is house made, as well as their hot sauces. The food was not overly salty and I can taste the freshness. As someone who used to work in the industry, I am impressed. I look forward to trying other menu items. If you're in the area, please support and check them out. Absolutely love this restaurant. Prices are great, you get a lot of food for a reasonable amount of money and it's delicious. This restaurant is a hidden gem and needs more recognition. We had four street tacos. Two were steak and then a chorizo and a pastor. The double corn shells held a hefty filling. The outpost has a green sauce and a red sauce to complement their tacos. The green tomatillo has a hint of lime and the red carries a little heat and a lot of flavor. Four street tacos with a side of black beans and a couple waters totaled $20 before the tip. Both very happy with our food, came with red and green sauces, both yummy as well. We decided to stop by the Outpost Mexican Eatery today for lunch after finishing up a few errands in the city with our two toddlers. I don't usually leave reviews but today we had a really nice experience here that warranted a highly positive review of this place. We were greeted by the founder who operates this restaurant and were very impressed by their friendly and welcoming nature. The food was delicious and really fresh! As vegetarians, it can be hard to find yummy tacos or a nice burrito bowl but everything we tried here (loaded fries, guac and chips, tacos, burrito bowl) was amazing. As two tired parents, the thirty minutes we spent here to grab lunch with our kids was a welcome respite. Throughout the day, I've found myself thinking back to the wonderful experience we had here today and I hope anyone reading this review decides to try this place out - both for the food and friendly welcoming vibe the restaurant provides. The tacos were delicious I gave it a five because the beef taco was kind of plane but the rest of them were definitely a reorder option I especially like the green sweet chipotle sauce I can eat that by the bucket it even made the ground beef taco taste better. All the food was freshly prepared and taste wonderful I had a coworker go there for me two days in a row. read more
