This cute bed and breakfast is up in the mountains where we were in the clouds in most mornings during our stay making breakfast time magical. And speaking of breakfast, every night you fill out a form indicating your choice of a sweet or savory meal. Arrive at your table hungry because the portions are fit for a king (huge!) and oh so tasty! (Dinner can also be ordered for an additional fee but again, king sized portions and so delicious! ) The Inn is located in Chatsworth, close to Fort Mountain and the cute town of Ellijay is on the other side of the mountain. There are so many outdoorsy places to visit near by, a long weekend is not nearly enough time to visit! We had the best long weekend getaway at the top of the mountain! We stayed in the Prince Madoc room which had a huge stone fireplace and the softest sheets on the planet. The smell of fresh laundry is exactly what you want when you turn down the sheets at a new place-- so clean and cozy. I wasn't sure about our private bathroom being across the hall, but it was honestly great. Bathroom was very large & somehow also cozy [I think it was the warm heat coming out of the floorboard vents each time I stepped out of the shower lol]. Breakfast each morning was a 10/10! Bill is a boss in the kitchen. The homemade granola and lavender peach 2nd course were our two favorite things! If you plan to take it easy at the b&b one evening, go grab takeout brisket from Trinity in Dalton or truffle shiitake pizza from Ellijay Wood Fired Pizza and bring it back up the mountain. One of the best nights we had was eating pizza and playing giant Uno in the common room. [the giant Uno is in the basket to the left of the common room's fireplace!] Be sure to take a left when leaving the b&b so that you can see the INSANE views!! The road down the mountain to the left is SO beautiful! Things to Consider: -A more size inclusive option for the robe. My husband looked so cozy in his robe and I was disappointed that the size large was a bit too small for me. Having a few plus size robes on hand might be something to consider. Having a spot in the room's notebook that mentions larger robes are available upon request would help curvier guests feel that much more welcome & included :) -A way to text or send a message to Bill or Nicole when we have a quick question :) Thanks so much for having us Bill & Nicole! When we decided to vacation in Georgia, I searched and searched for a place to stay. My husband works too much, and his only time to relax is when I plan a trip. We were delighted & stuffed with the eye appealing & delicious breakfasts served daily, loved the inn's decor and our room, along with the beautiful surroundings. Just what we want on a vacation; comfort & great food! It all was magazine/brochure worthy! And your little stray outdoor cat was just icing on the cake for us, as I had told Nicole, that I had been searching for lodging that included animals, and upon not finding any, choose the Overlook. So, it was certainly a bonus that this little cat showed up just a couple of weeks prior to our arrival. We enjoyed looking for Tux outside and spoiling him a bit each day. Tux has found a great home and will be living his best life! Many blessings to you both on this endeavor, as we know having an inn has it's rewards, but also, requires lots of work & much of your time; not to mention the variety of guests that you encounter. read more

Nicole and Bill are the owners hostess for the Inn. They do all of the jobs themselves. The Inn is located on a scenic road between Chatsworth, Ga and Elijah. The inn is very rustic. The inside is beautiful. It uses old stained boards and timber throughout. Each room is decorated different. The breakfasts are huge and varied. Evening meals can be ordered extra as a special treat. Both Nicole and Bill want you to be happy with their place. They take a lot of pride in it. They have only been the current owners since 2019. read more

The Moon Eye suite was quaint, cozy, relaxing with Private hot tub on porch, & was setup (extra charge but worth it) very romantically with champagne, vase full of different colored roses & carnations, "animal towel decor" plus rose petals & flickering candles all over!! Amazing views! Great food! In the heart of north Georgia with so much to offer including hiking, biking, etc.

We loved our two nights here. Breakfast was so delicious and generous we weren't left hungry during our hikes across the road at the beautiful state park. The view from the main dining area is stunning. The terraced landscape below provides a nice jaunt in the woods. The hot tubs are soothing after a day of hiking. As a Cherokee Nation citizen from Oklahoma, it is very special to come back to old Cherokee Nation/north Georgia where my family originated from. The Overlook Inn's new owners, Nicole and Bill, reached out to my husband and I after hearing of our previous experience with the old owners. They offered the opportunity to restore our faith and love in The Overlook Inn. We were lucky enough to find some time to visit the Inn a little over a year after my husband proposed in that very spot. The new owners are so incredibly kind, respectful, and genuine. The Overlook Inn is even better than it was the first time- from the way things are ran (they had bath salts for the jacuzzi and homemade cookies waiting for us upon arrival), to the breakfast they make (they have breakfast cards in each guests room that allows you to pick exactly what you'd like for the following day)! Let me tell you- there is NO wrong answer when it comes to what you should choose for breakfast. An example of just how accommodating they are- we needed to be in downtown Atlanta early Monday morning and wouldn't be able to enjoy their wonderful three course breakfast. We figured we'd grab something along the way, but when we told the owners of our plan they insisted on making us a brown bag breakfast with THE MOST DELICIOUS breakfast sandwich I have EVER had. Nicole and Bill were also helpful when it came to finding things to do. When we woke up Sunday morning we had planned on having a lazy day. Per there suggestion, we had an amazing day hiking Cloudland Canyon, where we found several waterfalls and even took a dip in the river! I can't thank the two of them enough. We just got home from a weekend at the Overlook Inn and we had a wonderful time! The hosts, Bill and Nicole were so welcoming and gracious. It felt like a home away from home. The food was to die for! Each room has its own unique and special touches. Our room had a private hot tub and we spent a lot of time in it. The porch also had rocking chairs with a great view of the mountains. They had the great room decorated for Christmas and a large picturesque window that showcased an amazing view of the mountains. I spent each morning sitting in their cozy armchair watching the sunrise. Our weekend was so relaxing and peaceful. I hope to return soon and try out some of their other themed rooms. read more

Whatever happens - do NOT choose the " Worry Free Booking". I got the travel insurance thinking it would be a smart thing to do but it is not. There are a very limited number of reasons you can use it and if you select this and cannot meet the criteria they will keep ALL your money. My sister is having a double mastectomy, so my 80 year old mother cannot come. She would not be out ALL the money she spent had I not chosen this option and just used their refund policy. But apparently if you choose worry-free booking you are forever cut off from their other policies. read more

TLDR - Loved it. Go! My friends were scheduled to visit us in ATL from out of town, but when a snowstorm hit on Friday their flights were cancelled. My wife and I (and our 4 month old baby) were thus looking for something else to do in a hurry. Found this place, spoke to Lynn on Friday night about our interest in coming up Saturday. Given the circumstance she was willing to waive their 2 night minimum and relax their "no kids" policy. Other places we called would not do that. Got there in time to catch some unreal views of some snowy mountains. Our room, the main dining room, the views, the amenities, and the food, were all great. If you're looking for an establishment that serves great food this is the place for you. However, I didn't pay $700 for a restaurant. You're honestly paying for a partial view of the mountains. Upon arrival to this BNB everything seemed to be great. The owners were very nice and welcoming. It wasn't until we tried to use the advertised amenities my husband and I realize this may not be the romantic getaway we were expecting. There is a mandatory quiet time set in place at 9 PM each night. The water for the jetted tub was FREEZING cold. The shower water was also FREEZING cold. And the gas fireplace inside the rooms were turned off though it was 50 something degrees outside. We BOUGHT the wine and cheese sample platter for a romantic evening in just to be told at the time of service that the platter was not allowed in our rooms to keep down the amount of critters. Not to mention the room is equipped with a microwave, mini fridge, and ice chest FOR WINE. So we declined the platter. The next morning at breakfast we were COMPLETELY IGNORED. Nicole was very unprofessional and attended to everyone in the establishment EXCEPT my husband and I. It was very noticeable and absolutely distasteful. This place was nowhere near worth the amount of money spent. I would suggest finding a nice hotel that serves breakfast. You're probably better off there. read more

Stumbled upon this little gem when driving across Fort Mountain. I came into their little gift shop next to the B&B and the girl working the desk was so sweet it made me want to come back. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Celestial Suite, and wow, we were spoiled! Big room with plenty of space and private entrance. They do a phenomenal wine and cheese sampling on the weekends which was great. The cheese was local and we socialized with other guests. The tub in the room was a great touch. The water falls from the ceiling! I have a queen size bed at home so the king size was a nice upgrade for the weekend. The seclusion provided some nice bonding time, and the dinner they offered was great so we didn't have to leave the mountain. The fireplace would not work at first but the staff was very attentive on getting the pilot light lit quickly. My boyfriend didn't want to get up for breakfast so they did a last minute change and brought it to our room. I highly recommend the Eggs Benedict. All in all, great!! read more

There are many lovely things about this place. It is a bit rustic and off the beaten trail and that is its main appeal to me. Mike and Lynn were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was quite good. It is high on a ridge with views in both directions. A big storm blew through and it was marvelous to sit on the porch in our rockers and watch it. read more

The inn has awesome views and was very cozy, but the owner was very nousy, disrespectful and rude. She complained about us on everything even thou we were occupying 80% of the inn! She kept complaining we were making too much noise, but the noise was just walking thru the loose boards of the old inn, so if you plan to go there (and I'd advise you not to) stay inside the room with a book. We had planned on going there for my sisters wedding, that unfortunately got cancelled last minute and she couldn't be less empathetic, as we were leaving the inn she wanted scold us about what she didn't like about us as if we were her kids and we didn't need to sit there and take it so she threaded to call the police, yeah I said the police as if we were breaking the law somehow, and that was still around 9 am, which means not check out time yet and she basically kicked us out! So i'd not recommend staying in this inn to anyone. We had a terrible experience. read more
