Sad sad sad they have a new chef that has changed everything. Before the new chef the chicken was a 1/2 of a roasted chicken. Now it's a dry, barely can eat breast, and a drummette. It was not good and the waiter just gave 10 percent off. They have changed the menu and it is limited. My niece ordered a prosciutto and ricotta pizza and there was no prosciutto on the pizza. Since the menu change, they have no steak selection like a ribeye. I love the building, but they have made a bad decision in changing the menu, and the new chef does not know what he is doing. The renovation and atmosphere was awesome.My wife got food poisoning and we contacted the manager. They had a rep from Bass Pro reach out and had us fill out a form. First thing the location and history are beautiful the history of the building and grounds is a "cool" factor we have wanted to try here the last several years and just didn't make it for various reasons while on vacation. We finally did and meh! The red pepper margarita was the shining star of the evening. The risotto fritters were ok I'll say 3.75 out of 5, the corn muffins were a 3 out of 5, the entrees Shrimp and Grits 3.0 out of 5 the grits and sauce were good, the shrimp rubbery and tough to me anyways they were cooked so..., the short rib stroganoff 3.5out of 5 very rich but very tasty needed about more salt but to each their own. The dessert the peanut butter tart was a 1 out of 5 didn't look like any previous pictures it was peanut butter pie it was hard not frozen nor hot so hard it came of the plate trying to cut a piece with the fork and the fork stood upright in it. Our waiter was nice but extremely forgettable of things it took forever to come get a drink order then even longer to get the drinks, I am not going to say his name, because everyone should get a second chance to improve. Overall rating 3.0 out of 5 with the drinks saving the the 2.5 review Ambiance 3.5 out of 5 Food 3.25out of 5 Drinks 4.5 out of 5 Dessert 1.out of 5 Service 2.75 out of 5 but they had a larger table no excuse for our lack of timely SVC but I get it Price Way high for the lackluster SVC, and small portions IMO, I know people seem to love this place I just didn't and really wanted to like really really wanted to after years of wanting to try it and a day of looking at the menu to pick stuff we would enjoy it just was not as good as it could have been subpar food with bad SVC makes it a bad experience. 12 out of 10 stars! Just what we needed after driving across county. Really good food. Hog and Feed pizza, bacon, corn, and alfredo. You can smell the smoked bacon from a few tables away. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal at the mill tonight, the food excellent and the service provided by Easton were absolutely wonderful! While we browsed the shop we overheard a particularly pretentious customer complaining that because her large party had paid for a meal and event room that the noise coming from the busy kitchen was unacceptable. As if her group should not have been bothered by the noise of the other guests being served their meals. I was impressed by the professionalism of Ashley who was listening to the complaint. She allowed the customer to finish her tirade with patience even when this customer suggested that the kitchen was loud intentionally to ruin their event. It was impressive to see how she kept her cool! read more

Amazing place owned by Johnny Morris in a reclaimed mill right on the river. The inside is delightfully decorated in "old mill style" and it nearly screams old south comfort food. The wait staff was friendly and the drink menu was creative and "market menu" (more or less the daily specials) was inventive and intriguing. We had the catfish (natch) and the Mill Burger (I think) was out of this world full of.flavor and juicy (no kidding, get this burger). The view on the river is remarkable and we'd like to come back to come back in warmer weather to sit outside by the water. read more

First time ever I could not eat a salad. She was too busy to care or notice that I left it all. $126 for 2. At least the dairy free cheesecake was good. Wow! What a fabulous place. Food was amazing and so was their signature bloody mary! So good in fact i bought the very expensive mix. The old mill has been converted beautifully and the windows overlooking the creek make the setting so beautiful for indoor or outdoor dining. Service was fantastic. Four of us went to early dinner. We are from the Monett area so we hadn't seen the grounds. It is wonderful. Loved the view from the restaurant. Great experience with the hostess and waitress. Very friendly. No complaints about speed of service. Loved the menu. Lots of very different choices. We ordered two appetizers, 4 entrees and three desserts. Both appetizers were burnt and should have never been served. The salmon was perfectly prepared and delicious. The two pasta dishes were very dry. Nothing like any sauce on it. The short rib was under seasoned. The pork shank was really good however the risotto was way over cooked. Two of the desserts were wonderful, however, the green tomato cake was very dry and stale. I love creative dishes and would love to try the Garrison but after spending $240 on a mostly overcooked meal I'm not anxious to do so. In an after thought we should have sent some of our dishes back as the ones that were not overcooked were very good. read more

This meal was amazing. We started with the spinach dip, the seasonal salad with whipped herbed ricotta and the mushroom flat bread. All were to die for. My niece had the lavender gin fizz and I had some bourbon drink called a smashed porch? I cannot remember but it's similar to an old fashioned and was really good. My nieces and nephew all had the ricotta ravioli with pesto. I had the pappardelle pasta with cream sauce served over braised short rib. All are very rich but sheer perfection. Dessert: the green tomato cake is similar to a carrot cake. Delicious and worth a try if you like a good carrot cake. One niece got the seasonal white chocolate lavender ice cream which was so creamy and had just the right amount of lavender. My other niece got the peanut butter tart. What it lacks in eye appeal, it makes up for in taste. It was heavenly with a cup of coffee. We were so excited to eat that we didn't take one photo!! You need to go here and if the weather is pleasant, sit on the balcony over looking the river. read more

Looking for a scenic view, this is the place for you. The old mill is a great environment. The food however is a bit over priced for the portion size of meals. As a stickler for home cooked meals I tried out the chicken and dumplings. The meal was underwhelming from a taste perspective and lacked "chicken and dumplings" it was a very light meal. Overall the food vs the price point, is a bit off. However if you're looking for an appetizer I'd recommend the corn bread. read more

Fabulous farm to table atmosphere and service, innovative menu and beautiful views housed in a refurbished grain mill. The smoked salmon starter paved the way for the fluffiest grits topped with roasted tomato, bacon, okra and shrimp. So delicious. We shared a silky smooth chocolate creme brûlée to end the meal. Beautiful place. I'm really surprised by the bad reviews. We went on a Wed evening with no reservation and were seated immediately. Our server Olivia had great suggestions and was attentive. We started with the cornbread which next time may be my meal. Yummy!!! I had the salmon and hubby had the filet. I would say the salmon was just a touch on the overcooked side but had great flavor. The broccolini and spaghetti squash were nice accompaniments. Hubby's filet was cooked perfectly and that sauce was lick off the plate good. Asparagus and mashed potatoes were also great. Dessert was the tomato cake. I would compare this to a lighter version of carrot cake- cream cheese frosting and all. We ate it all. I will be going back. The views are beautiful and the staff was all friendly. A manager even stopped by to make sure all was well. read more
