What a wonderful stay! Cutely designed and felt very like home! Everything was super clean, water did not smell like chlorine, and towels didn't have that hotel smell. The only downside is that there is no AC but honestly the cold air at night with the ceiling fan blowing in the right direction is enough to keep you cool during the night. Do not miss this motel. It's just wonderful. The rooms are cozy comfortable and inviting and the vibe is welcoming and laid back. We stayed here during a busy weekend, but did not hear any noise from neighboring rooms. We slept so well. Coffee and tea in the morning was a nice touch that allowed us to chat with other guests. I don't know about YOU.... But when I think of Motels.... The first thing that comes to my mind is either Motel 6, Super 8 or even the Econo Lodge. Hey, nothing wrong with any of these chain Motel brands, but when I hear the term "Motel", it always makes me think of lodging with lower priced rates which comes with lesser quality accommodations and a place that I will most likely be sleeping with one eye open. ---------------------- Well this past year (November 2024), my wife made arrangements for our family to have a little weekend getaway in Cayucos, California which is located on the Central Coast nestled between San Luis Obispo and Cambria. How she made it happen: In the last few years, my wife has basically made it to Pro Level at credit card hacking (our equivalent of being a Yelp Elite) and has been able to score us "free nights" at Hyatt Hotels and Resorts all over the map. One example... She booked us 7 nights at the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa for free! Had we paid actual money, it would have been TEN GRAND, but again, she booked it for Free. According to my wife, here is how she does it: Sign up for credit cards... Refer. Refer. Refer. Earn Bonus, Bonus, bonus. Spend. Spend. Spend. (Watch out Costco, we are coming for you!) Pay all of our bills on said credit card(s) once the monthly bill comes... Earn even more points... Book free stays at hotels, book free airlines tickets.... All. For. Free. And In her words: "It's Girl Math!" Well, it all adds up to me as long as I get to continue laying by the pool, sippin' on my Mai Tai. ;) Well in late 2024 my wife came to me with a little grin on her face and said, "I did it again... I booked us another trip!" Mad? Me?? Did you not just hear what I said about the Mai Tai's.??? Haha So I asked.... Where are we staying? And she said, "The Pacific Motel" I said, "Motel??" (I ain't about to sleep with no one eye open) lol Well, to my pleasant surprise.... This Motel.... The Pacific Motel in Cayucos, California... Changed my ENTIRE PERCEPTION on what a motel has the potential to be. ********************************* Here is how our 5 Star Experience went down: As you were heading towards Cayucos, we realized we might not make it by the time the front office closed to obtain our access code (The email we received stated if arriving after hours to contact the front desk to obtain access code to our room). The girl on the receiving end was very sweet and made sure had everything we needed prior to arrival. She shared a little bit about what was happening that weekend which included an event that was taking place that next morning on their motel grounds. She informed us if we could kindly have our vehicle moved the following morning before the vendors arrived as they would be using the entire parking lot. Hey, no sweat off our back. Upon arrival, we parked, unloaded our luggage, took the kids out and made our way to our room. As we unlocked the door and made entry... A huge smile on both of our faces appeared as we were both blown away by every aspect of the room. The decor, the style, the entire aesthetic of the room made us feel not as if we were staying at a motel/hotel, but as if we were home. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING about our room made sense and the style was the exact style that we love. The shiplap walls, the all white tiled bathroom with all black accents (toilet paper holder, faucet, towel holder, lighting fixtures, etc.), the farm door separating the bathroom from the bedroom, the paneled ceilings... Literally everything that I would want to do in our dream home. That night, I may or may not have dreamed about starting a Reno (renovation) on our own house. Haha. The next morning, we stepped outside and really took in the view. The grounds of the whole motel completely matched the style and vibe that we received in our room the night before. The grounds were all very well kept and everything was very aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. There are fire pits on each end of the property that we would later enjoy and the front office has a wonderful shop which includes various drinks, snacks, fun gifting ideas and fresh self-serve coffee for the morning. And.... They have the cutest little mini bar onsite where you can get beer, wine or bubbles and enjoy some adult time. (We had the kids so we got ours to go and went and enjoyed our wine by the fire pit). Cayucos is very small, quaint town so everything is easily walkable or just a short drive to all of the fun shops, eateries, coffee shops, and Antique Stores. As for the Pacific Motel and its wonderful staff... Thank you for your hospitality and for all the ideas/inspiration you gave me, we will undoubtedly return and stay here again! read more

Charming stay, but very strict one-dog policy + $125 dog fee!! The Pacific Motel is charming, stylish, immaculately clean, and in a fantastic location. The staff was friendly and the property itself is really lovely. If you're traveling without pets--or with just one dog--you'll probably have a great experience. However, dog owners should be aware that the motel has a very strict one-dog limit, and the pet fees are substantial. I'm a volunteer with a dog rescue and was transporting a foster dog to her forever home. I also had my own dog with me. When I checked in, I was told I would not be able to stay because I had two dogs--even though I had already booked a non-refundable room. To their credit, the staff eventually worked out a compromise and allowed me to stay. However, they charged $125 per dog, which brought my total for the night to around $550. I'll be feeling the moths coming out of my pocket for a while with that one. If you book using an outside vendor like Hotels.com, these fees and policies are not made known. Again, the motel itself is lovely and the staff was polite throughout the interaction, but the pet policy is extremely strict (not allowed on furniture) and $$expensive$$. If you're traveling with dogs, especially more than one, it's definitely something to be aware of before booking. read more

You've definitely reiterated that policy is more important than safety. Emergencies happen, and I definitely did not feel safe leaving my house, fearing that one bad wind could destroy it. You mentioned alternate routes, but there were multiple fires happening, and the freeway was a mess. I didn't feel safe leaving my home to navigate through toxic air for a vacation. My family and I were in fear and panic, wondering if we should be packing our things incase of evacuation order. Government officials broadcasted suggestions for residents to stay indoors and await further instructions. You wouldn't know this because you're not in the danger zone. I'm glad others were able to come to your motel during such a time, but every family's situation is different. Youve made income that weekend, but the degree of money-hungry behavior at this establishment is beyond ridiculous. I will never be your customer, and you can enjoy the few hundred I spent on booking--it's charity to you. By the way, I emailed your hotel the day before check-in asking for directions, but I waited and never received a reply from your staff... until now. I have attached a map showing all the wildfires that were happening that Wednesday. If something had happened during the trip, would your motel have taken liability for us? read more

This was the worst customer service from a hotel that I have ever experienced. My wife booked my family two rooms at the Pacific Motel for a family event in nearby Morro Bay. The day before we were to check-in we had a family member with dementia fall, hit his head, and go into a coma, forcing the event to be cancelled. We cancelled our reservations over 24 hours in advance, but within the 72-hour cancellation window, so we expected to forfeit the Hyatt points we had used. We were not notified at the time of cancellation that the points that we used to book the rooms could not cover the cancelled rooms and that we owed $600 for 2 rooms for 1 night at the motel. We would never have paid that rate to stay at this motel. Six days after we cancelled, we received a short email with no explanation, no invoice attached, with grammatical errors that said we owed $600 threatened us with "If we do not receive within 48 hours, further actions will be taken." and had a link that started "https://go.pci-payments.com". It looked more like a scam email than professional corporate correspondence. That is awful, just truly awful customer service. We disputed the charge with Hyatt and received a second equally awful email that contained the fine print of the points redemption in ALL CAPS and continued with the threatening language, "At this time, we must proceed with the payment request to avoid further action." Again, WE WERE NEVER SENT AN INVOICE TO PAY. This is what Yelp was made for: holding businesses accountable for truly terrible customer service. We will never, ever stay at this hotel, and encourage others not to stay there either. Update: Just to be clear we were not a victim of fraud. We were victims of terrible customer service. As I mentioned in my initial review, my wife made the reservation. So I know there is no record of a reservation from me, but unless they have people cancelling all over the place they know which one it was. read more

I cannot say enough positive things. My friend and I were nearing the end of our road trip down the central coast when we realized we had messed up our dates and that we needed to be back in San Diego the night of our reservation at the Pacific Motel. From the top of a mountain mid-hike I was able to call Christy and she was able to move our reservation up one day without any issue. Her patience and understanding was so appreciated. When we arrived late that night she was there to show us around and to welcome us. The Motel itself is incredible. The space is clean and bright and comfortable, the beds are soft and spotless, the TV is huge and has every app you can want. The shower is warm and clean and the soap is to die for. It felt more like settling into a familiar comfy beach cabin than a motel. The public spaces are filled with beautiful plants and decorations as well as so many local goods one can buy. Fresh coffee in the morning before we hit the road literally saved our lives. My only regret is that we didn't get to spend more time in Cayucos and The Pacific Motel - but we will be back! read more

We found this really cute motel online. Drove by to check it out and by far it's the nicest place to stay in Cayucas and all surrounding towns. The owners were EXTREMELY courteous and personable. We had a bungalow and it looked brand new. Great finishes and style. There is a really well done shop at the lobby. They offer coffee in the morning and have a beer and wine bar, as well as fire pits and a ping pong table. We were just passing through, but ended up staying a second night. Can't say enough great things about this Motel! First impression was that it is super cute and stylish. I love to shop and the lobby was the best store in all of Cayucos. I purchased some bracelets and essential oils and really wanted to buy many other items! Super friendly great staff. Adorable little bar called the Salty Tiger with the cutest damn tiger wallpaper and decor. The best thing about the Motel though was the bed. So super comfortable. I am very picky with pillow and I loved these so much I purchased one of their pillows online from parachute. I would have bought all the bedding but it was a little pricey. I absolutely loved The Pacific Motel! I first heard of this awesome little motel, on Instagram. I knew I had to check it out the next time I was in town. Just stayed overnight and it did not disappoint! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming! Customer service is exceptional! I stayed in a private bungalow, which I highly recommend! The room is so clean and modern. Aesthetics are on point. I enjoyed the fireplace and little back patio. I just wished I could have stayed an extra day! Needed a little staycation even though we live in slo and decided to stay local and check out this new spot that has been under construction for a long time. It's a new and beautiful boutique that has been thoughtfully renovated with the highest quality touches that appreciate and notice. The bed is very comfortable, the snack bar is epic and reasonably priced, the design of everything is on point, Bethany at the front is super genuine and fun and the place is just cute. We will be back for sure and you can just feel that the owners really care about the property and experience. March 11, 2024 A friend told me about this wonderful place on the Central Coast called the "Pacific Motel". I hadn't realized at the time the good fortune I was walking into when the reservations were booked! Everything from the units with top of the line furniture and a unique boho feel to the ground so pristinely manicured. That was just my first glance at the place; I fell in love and hadn't even as yet walked into the room! The comfortable furniture, updated style and interior have been completely renovated and updated. The showers make you feel like you are standing under a tropical waterfall. Seriously they have thought of everything from top of the line soaps, towels and sheets to luxurious comforters and service. Did I mention that they have a beautiful gift shop manned by one of the hotel employees? They give away smiles and the vibe is always comfortable, pristinely clean, brand new and cozy. I had the distinct pleasure of staying at the Pacific Motel last night. As a traveler, I found the property outstanding. Every detail was thought out and you could tell the owners made this place with love. The rooms are amazing with updated fixtures, incredible TV's, and for this traveler, the most important part: a glorious bathroom. Every detail is traveler forward, right down to the leather bound local guide with an option to scan a QR code to take a digital version with you. I will be back and I will bring friends as they have the most amazing gathering spots throughout the property. The icing on the cake was waking up to delicious fresh ground coffee! This might be one of my most favorite boutique motel/hotel stays every! The thought that went into every single detail is obvious! It's Boho chic with a modern farmhouse crisp, clean design. The staff is warm and welcoming. The owner made my friend a fresh cup of coffee from beans they have specially roasted for them, from a roaster in Paso Robles. The quality of everything in the room is a 10! The towels were thick and crisp, the sheets were amazing, the specialty soaps and shower products were the brand I have purchased in a boutique before. Even the toilet paper is earth friendly and super soft! One of my favorite things was walking into the room and it smelling like coconut surf wax. Even the food items in the room were earth conscious and specialty in nature. We loved sitting by the fire with the wonderful blankets and pillows they provide. I cannot wait to go back! The town is a sleepy little beach town with some wonderful restaurant's. Our favorite being the Hidden Kitchen for breakfast. It's very close to Cambria, which has other special restaurant's we enjoyed. It took us 13 minutes to go to Cal Poly to visit our son. Loved loved this unique and luxurious accommodation! read more

While this place looks pretty on the outside and has clean, neatly adorned rooms and, with the exception of Ryan (the general manager), I don't recommend this place or the staff running this place to anybody. The interests of the company come before the interests of the guests. They cite "rules" ahead of their guests' comfort. First of all, no matter how "dog friendly" an establishment is or not, California law dictates that service animals are the exception to the rule. Instead of working to accommodate my service dogs, the staff immediately greeted us with we cannot have dogs in this room because this is not a "dog friendly" room. Furthermore, they very strictly declined us having a third guest in a "two person" room, regardless of the fact that they clearly saw a disabled man in a wheelchair (my 80 year-old father) and with the knowledge that we had just driven seven hours from our home to get there. We have visited many establishments over the years, and I've never had a problem, accommodating an additional guest in the rooms we've secured, (especially when the case was on short notice, and out of our control, such as with our recent visit), even to the extent of securing a rollaway bed. In this case, however, they would make no such accommodation as they had to "follow the rules of the company." we had no time to adjust to the change and were left, scrambling for other accommodations at another lodging establishment. Had it not been for one of the other local lodging establishments, we may have ended up sleeping in our car as it was too late for the seven hour return drive home. Also, if you don't mind being watched, like a hawk, this is the place for you. However, if you value your privacy, I don't recommend you staying at this establishment as staff seem to keep an eye on everything that goes on with their guests (at least that was my experience upon arrival). We weren't there 30 minutes before we started getting bombarded with one of the women, managers, citing the "rules" to us in a rather condescending tone. I will return to Cayucos for a visit, but it will not be to the Pacific Motel. read more

Wow wow wow! My sister and I were blown away by the experience we had at the pacific motel this last weekend. This is by far the best place to stay in Cayucos. Our room was absolutely adorable, and the bedding was so comfortable. The complimentary bikes were a huge hit. We rode them to get dinner and watch the sunset at the pier. I have already booked my next stay at the pacific! I can not wait to come back. read more
