Until recently, I haven't been to Cayucos Motel in a couple of years. It has been our go to Cayucos spot for several years because they are so dog friendly. It has changed ownership and some things have changed. They still allow dogs but gone are the personalized dog bowls and treats, as well as, the grassy fenced in dog yard. The yard is there but it is a gravel pit. However, there is still an open lawn area with seating. On the positive, the rooms are the same - neat and clean with comfy bedding. It has easy access to the beach. On the whole, this will still be our choice when staying in Cayucos. read more

I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway. I absolutely loved this motel. The room was a great size and the beds were comfortable. The owners were amazing and very helpful. Room 2 Spotted this Motel on our way home last trip.. Everything I thought and hoped this Cute & Cozy place would be.. steps from beach.. Pet friendly ..dog area .. Rooms are CLEAN toasty and comfy as much as it can be with 2 Lg Doodles but we made it work.. air & heater in room works, is a plus.. Keurig Pods :) Easy access to restaurants..bakery's.. coffee cafes.. & early night life.. Dog beaches surrounding us.. Our first time staying at Cayucos Motel , we will be staying here year round as much weather permits Staff - polite ..helpful & kind If you're looking for fancier keep looking but if you want quiet days and nights .. clean chill atmosphere THIS IS IT !! My daughter and I stayed her for 2 nights with our fur baby while vacationing in beautiful Cayucos. Never have I stayed at a place where pets were so graciously welcomed. Initially, we were going to bring our 3 boys, but ended up just bringing one. He was welcomed with a personalized doggie dish and treats. I did call a few days in advance to let them we would only be bringing the one, but to our surprise was welcomed with all 3 bowls. They told us to take them home. How sweet is that? The rooms were cute, clean, and just what we needed. We slept great in the comfy king size bed. There was a fridge and coffee maker in our room. There is a community microwave available for everyone to use as well. They also have an outdoor shower so you can rinse your fur babies off after going to the beach. We loved it and used it exactly for that. I also loved the convenient location of this motel. You can walk to all the shops and restaurants within 10 minutes. We were also steps alway from beach access. Overall, we had a lovely stay at this motel and will definitely return next summer if not sooner. My daughter and I are already planning to make this a yearly trip with our dogs. read more

The only positive thing I can say is it is in a good location. Otherwise, walls are so thin, tv wasn't functional and no staff on site to assist with anything. dog barking in the next room and loud music. nobody on-site. This wasn't cheap either. I would never recommend this place. I did not vet this place well enough, my bad. read more

The deadbolt would not lock. The main room window was completely unsecured, no lock, no secondary locking mechanism. Anyone could open the window from the outside and climb in. The person onsite had no solutions. She said to try and call the owner the next day. I had to drive to the next town to purchase windows locks/bolts on my own with my own money. I cannot recommend. read more

It's the easy breezy beach life with a hometown feel. This adorable motel is delightful. Our family has stayed in 3 and 4 star hotels and were weary about going to a motel. We are so glad we took the chance and stayed here. The rooms are decorated nicely and are really clean.I would never have known that it was pet friendly if it wasn't for all of the comical pro-pet signs. The staff is over the top courteous. The ladies at the help desk are as sweet as can be. The Cayucos Motel is the only place close to the beach that has a cute grassy (not cement) area to lounge at while watching the sun set. This place is affordable, clean, courteous and did I mention it's just steps away from the beach! Oh Yeah! Next time I will make plans for a week long stay! read more

Fell in love with this place. We have stayed in many different houses, and or motels in Cayucos for the past 7 years and this is our favorite so far. We rented the suite which faces the ocean. The rooms were fairly large and the kitchenette area was airy and bright. It is always nice to have a microwave and fridge. Clean, comfortable and nice friendly people all around. They treat the pets with a gift. Our dogs got bowls with their names on them and gourmet treats. ball and toy in the bowl. We loved it and so did the dogs. The close beach access is not steep and is only steps away from the sand. We totally enjoyed this years visit and the Cayucos Motel made it extra special. read more

Amazing place. We never stay at Motels and this is not what you expect. Super sweet hardworking women run this place. Our pugs received the VIP treatment with little goodie bags, the location is beach front with fire pit. The place is extremely clean. We will be returning next month with coco and Petunia. I needed a motel for the weekend to go visit family. I'd seen the motel before but had never stayed. I got two nights at $130 per night including a light breakfast buffet. I thought it a bit pricey but it was so convenient I figured I'd take the plunge. I was not disappointed. The place is adorable, immaculate, and comfortable. If you travel with a dog this is the place to be. I saw many happy hounds around the property. The breakfast buffet is more a breakfast FEAST. Beautifully and bountifully set up. I plan to return with my kayak and make a long weekend of it soon. If you love small motels, with great ambiance in a small town atmosphere this place should not be missed. read more

We stayed here because the Shoreline inn double booked our room. They had just finished re-doing our room the day we checked in and It was really nice!! Very clean, quaint and so cute!! Not to mention pet friendly! And when I say 'pet friendly,' I mean it! They brought us over a bowl for each dog, with their names painted on them, a ball, a stuffed toy and a bunch of treats!! There was a couple pretty flowers on the table and a card welcoming us and the dogs. We will definitely be back, we really enjoyed it!! read more

Lovely little spot, everyone the week we went was afraid of the weather ended up being perfect so we had the whole hotel ourselves. The lady that owns the place is a sweet heart and really took care of us even let us book an extra night. Facility is good, the bedrooms could use a little updating but it is completely livable. Awesome they have an outdoor shower to rinse off and rinse your dogs off. It's right next to the beach you can use the walkway and to the stairs be on the sand in about three minutes. read more

The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very thoughtful. They have a great little potty area that's fenced in, it's literally steps to the beach where the dogs can go off leash and play in the water and sand (plus a shower for the dogs after with soap and towels for afterwards), and they offer a breakfast with fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs, pastries and more. In addition they greet all dogs with a personalized bowl with their name, filled with treats and toys! So thoughtful! We will definitely be back! read more

I've long thought that Cayucos was the most charming of the Central Coast beach towns and The Cayucos Motel embodies that charm. The owner goes out of the way to add homey touches, from shabby chic decor to real glasses and mugs to super comfy beds and pillows. The breakfast buffet includes fresh berries and nuts, two of my fave healthy breakfast choices. But thumbs down, the incredible way they greeted our dog Bubba was above and beyond anything we've experienced. A hand painted bowl, dog treats and three(3!!!) toys awaited him with a welcome sign. This is not the Four Seasons, but the charm, comfort and excellent customer service and friendliness from the staff and owner was beyond my experiences at fancier digs. We will be back and are definitely recommending The Cayucos Motel to our friends and family. read more

Another "Woohoo! As good as it gets"? You bet..... My wife and I along with our good friends Dan and Darla recently spent three nights here at the Cayucos Motel. This place was great. Rooms were cute and clean, as were the grounds. It's very close to the beach, infact you can here the waves all night long. Everything in town is just a short walk from here. There's tables and chairs out front of every room, and adirondack chairs on the lawn area. Rooms come with a little breakfast of breads, fruits, outmeal and such. Just right. We ate outside at our little tables and spent countless hours relaxing in the adirondacks while chatting with other guests. Staff were friendly and outgoing. Talk about a great find! This place is ULTRA affordable and GREAT! Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and prompt. Everything was quiet quiet quiet. You can hear the ocean from your room. The motel is about 200 feet to the beach and a short walk to many different places to eat. Continental breakfast in the AM is local bakery items and hard boiled eggs, OJ, coffee - just delicious! Cayucos Pier is another short walk away! Rooms offered mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. I will definately be back soon! Under new management and the place has suffered!! As a dog owner, I must say, this place is THE BEST! Upon entering our room, we were delighted to see gifts for our dogs, each labeled individually by their name - bigger toys for the large dog and smaller toys for the dachshund! Cutest/nicest thing ever. Aside from the great treatment and clean room, the location couldn't be closer to the beach, and there is a good continental breakfast every morning in the lobby. This is a cute well priced motel. I loved the lawn with tables and chairs that overlooked the beach. The staff was very nice and the room was quaint and very clean. The downfall for me was the lack of insulation, I could hear what was going on next door and in front of the room. There are nice tables in front of each room however while in our room we could hear every conversation very well. read more

This review is a tad late, but I thought, better late than never. We took a spring weekender and brought our dog. When you travel with a pet you don't have a lot of options. I have to say, this is one of the best places to stay. They are more than pet friendly and our girl was beyond happy with the treats and toy she received upon check-in. The other plus is that the location is so close to the beach. It was nice to check-in and take our girl for a nice beach walk. They also have a continental breakfast, which was better than some of the larger chains we've stayed at. We look forward to making a trip to the Cayucos Motel an annual tradition.
