I love the chicken fried steak and eggs for breakfast. Prime rib is great here for dinner too. The mimosas at breakfast aren't too sweet and are generous with champagne. We showed up at opening (9 am) and the staff were busily cleaning for a solid hour while we were eating. Good music. Good decor. 5 star no doubt. read more

We love the Paddle Pub! Living right up the road we come down often. It's Friday so I had the prime rib that is on special EVERY FRIDAY. It never disappoints! Seems like a great local spot, friendly waitress, seemed like a good mix of locals and people passing thru. But I have to say, this was probably the best BLT I've ever had. Served on sort of a thin panini-style bread, 6 thick cut strips of bacon on the top and bottom of the sandwich, and some fresh L&T with a perfect serving of mayo. We used to be regulars here for drinks and appetizers, but the quality of customer service has gone way down. The food is still good but the prices are a little outrageous... maybe because they have to pay all of the employees they have standing around. 10 people working-it wasn't that busy- and it still took over 5 minutes for someone to say hello and grab our drink order. I'm not sure what people expect. This place is much improved from "The Roadhouse" days. We went to the place before the remodel and were disgusted by the piss and beer smell in the restaurant and the piss-beer-vomit smell in the restrooms. Now its the Paddle Pub, smells good, restrooms are clean and updated. The food is ok for this kind of place in the middle of an area where the local choke and puke food of the Country Burger (Shakes are the best!) or fresh fried gizzard of the 76 station at Lake Goodwin are your only choices for a quick bite. My wife and I tried the new and improved place last week for lunch and ordered three of the appetizers, coconut shrimp with honey-marmalade dip, nachos and some chicken cordon-bleu balls which were weird but yummy. The prices went up a bit, but that's to be expected. One nice thing is that the prices have pushed away the career alcoholics you could find in the place in the middle of the week, middle of the day. My husband and I went to the Pub for breakfast today and I ordered the pancakes which come with 2 eggs (which I ordered over easy and got one, over med and the other over med well) and thick cut "Applewood smoked bacon" which was cooked to nearly jerky consistency. They need a whole new recipe for the pancakes. My husband had biscuits and gravy which were just not flavorful and the biscuits were hard! We do, however like the physical changes to pub a lot. Also the wait staff have been very accommodating every time we've been in. However, nice servers can't make up for bad food. Too bad.... It's close and we'd like to support our community, but I doubt we'll throw any more money at the Pub... read more

Good on some days, and some days terrible. Food is pretty good tho, drinks are so so depending on who makes them. Service can be slow even when it's not busy. A couple rude servers that need some more customer service training - only get super nice/polite when the tab is brought to table. read more

Stopped in for brunch on the way to see my mom for Mothers Day. The board advertised Bloody Mary's for $5. It sounded good, one problem though, I get really,really sick from vodka. I have found that tequila is a good substitute for the vodka. I told the sever/bartender that the Bloody Mary looked good, but could I substitute vodka for tequila? Instead of nicely saying it would cost a little more, a fact I do understand, she says in a real nasty voice "not at that price!" Food was mediocre, service so, so. Not the Roadhouse we are used to. Beware of this place. My wife and I went there last night wanting to use a $15 certificate from restaurant.com. We were required to spend at least $30. Even though we went over that amount, the owner would not accept the certificate. He said alcoholic beverages and food specials do not count toward the $30 even though the certificate does not state that fact. We have been using Restaurant.com certificates for several years without a problem. We have asked restaurant.com to take them off the program. They are not owning up to their obligations. read more

What a disappointment. We've been going to this bar for decades and now it's ruined. The new owner didn't just change the name, but the food, the atmosphere and the people who work there. BIG MISTAKE. Even the music was too loud. Geeez. Smart people know not to fix something that works. The new owner hasn't learned that lesson "yet". Get ready to pay huge prices for disgusting food. Over cooked veggies, old fish with too thick of batter, they don't even have chicken fried steak anymore. But you can get an over cooked chicken fried chicken. New name I guess for a deep fried chicken breast. with a high price tag. And it had too thick of breading also. The fries were limp and honestly there was nothing to give a thumbs up about. Thank goodness the dirty broken roadhouse is gone. The best burgers around, and I love burgers. The pizza is getting better and better. The remodel is amazing and it is finally a clean place with out the riff raff so I can bring my family, oh and they fixed the bathrooms. read more

Always good food and good service. When they get really busy it's a little slower but they are always super nice. People say they're a little spendy but you have to realize they have to charge more because they aren't out on a street front with tons of foot traffic and don't have as large of a customer base. And remember they are a convenience for us that live out here. If it's a little more at least I don't have to drive to Smokey Point, ugh. read more

It's a bar. First and foremost. My first hint was the loud obnoxious people in the corner of the bar. Tuesday night. The lady in their company was from the Shining, the laughing lady in the bathtub. Same exact laugh. I'm sure she's very nice. The guy peeling out in the driveway and driving up the road way too fast, just after leaving the bar........ For fear of retribution I will not divulge any identifying information. My meal was ok. My dinner companion's meal looked ok as well. We were in a bar. For a meal consumed in a bar, it was ok. Because we were in a bar. Our server was friendly enough. We had no wait time. If I had ordered an adult beverage from the bar I assume a refill would have been offered. I've known this place since the beginning, about 20 years ago. It's not what is was, but why would it? It was time for the previous guys to retire, now there's new blood in town. Nice simple remodel of the dining area, lots of TVs with different games on, and a completely new menu. A bit pricey for the area and the food, but it was pretty good for us tonight. Spent $50 including tip for four of us with no drinks, just water. The reason I rated it three not four was because it took 45 minutes to get our food! Over the years we used to frequent the Paddle Pub for dinner. This summer the food has gotten more and more inconsistent and usually barely warm. The last four out of five meals we've been served have been mediocre at best, certainly not worth the price unless you like overcooked grisly rib steak, under cooked doughy pizza, dry chicken wings, or tacos missing cheese or lettuce or meat. read more
