I really liked this no-frills burger joint, where we grabbed dinner after a short drive from our campsite at the nearby county park. They have a full menu of burger choices, with many creative options. They have tots too, and really good ones as well. They tout their shakes, but we didn't indulge on that. There are a few tables inside as well as a drive thru window. Very friendly service too.

I've been waiting 2 years to try this out!!! Ever since I moved in to the area. They temporarily closed during the pandemic and The Baked Cafe (from Camano Island) took it over. Ingredients are SO good. The quality is great. I got tots and tried the mushroom bacon Swiss cheeseburger. It is a little greasy but I think it was great for the vibes of a good American burger. Service was great. Everyone who worked there was so excited to be there. Right now they have limited hours 4-8pm but I've been mainly getting updates from their Instagram on all things new. Great way to kick off the summer!

The staff at Country Burger were friendly and looked clean and tidy! The Deluxe Cheeseburger tasted great, but was skimpy on lettuce & onions. The fries were also good but I dusted off the excess salt. There was clean nice indoor tables or outside seating under a patio or a choice of picnic tables in a park like setting. I thought the food good but is overpriced $20 for basic cheeseburger and fries inc tip. I want to return again to try other things on the menu!

Hungry for a burger, decided to take a little drive and check out Country Burger. I did the drive thru ordering, which they have set up pretty well. Everything is made to order, and have two spaces specific to drive thru to wait however it was pretty busy this day. I parked in front and was told it would be longer than normal which was okay for me. I had the bacon and blu burger. The burger patty is hearty and was not greasy. The bacon was thick and well done. I like my bacon crispy and it was that, not that floppy stuff. The blu cheese was not overpowering. If anything, it could have used a little more. All that plus the lettuce and tomato made this a filling meal. Added on the waffle fries which appeared to be fresh cut. They were cooked to the right amount of crunch. They offer a dipping sauce and I chose the house made tartar. I have to check out the fish and chips next time just to have the tartar again! Also had a blackberry shake. Fresh fruit and a good thickness, although the heat in the car melted it while waiting for the rest of the food so I had it quickly. If you are going to take-out, there are two lakes nearby. Along Lake Ki there is parking alongside the road. If you can find a spot you can watch while people kayak.

There is some street parking, but we ended up parking in a public parking lot north of the cafe. The place is cute and charming, and it's decorated with art that is for sale. The menu on the wall was just for drinks, and their food menu was laminated nearby for us to peruse. We had a nice chat with JJ (who I think is the co-owner), and he was very bubbly and nice. It was fun to witness his kindness to other customers and neighbors as they came in. This place seems very involved with the community. There are a few tables both outside and inside. The TV behind us was playing Pandora for radio music. Nearby, they had some free chocolate-covered coffee beans and your own water and silverware station. I got an Arnold Palmer, and boy, was it tart! I got my own sugar to try to sweeten it up. I also ate the Ricky Ricardo panini, and it wasn't my favorite. The aioli wasn't flavorful enough for me to notice, or maybe it was missing, and the pickles were too thick. I didn't love the flavor profile on this sandwich, and it was pretty hot (in temperature) to eat, so I had to let it cool down a bit. Connor loved his smoked salmon toast! There were a ton of capers, so lots of salt there. The herbed cream cheese was the star of the show, with the flavorful toast being a close second. He really appreciated it. I think I'd be happy to come back and try a different sandwich.

Put your name on the list and then wander a bit, you can work up an appetite. We had a lovely meal. I had the northwest scramble, and it was full of tasty bites of salmon and mama lil's peppers. Husband had the Reuben and was unable to finish it as it was a fairly large portion. The staff is some of the sweetest I've experienced. They were kind and friendly throughout our experience, even though some patrons were less than nice about the wait times. Well worth the wait!

Theres plenty to see so it didn't feel like a long wait. Husband got the breakfast burrito. He said it was really good, only con was that the salsa that came with it was like an ice slushy which would have preferred not cold. I got the salmon hash which I thought was one of the best hashes I've tried. The eggs and potatoes were seasoned and cooked perfectly and there was a lot of salmon - good ratio of everything. Only other con was that after we got seated we waited 30 mins to get our food. But service was really good and we could tell the cooks were busy with other tickets. Overall we really enjoyed our meal and would definitely come back if we're on Whidbey again!

The Food: The broccoli cheddar soup is a must-try (so unique!), and the hazelnut prawns were magnificent. My husband loved his cod - it was incredibly buttery. I tried the croissant french toast, which was delicious although a tad too buttery for my tastes. It wasn't too sweet and the texture was good (not mushy, more crispy on the outside and bread-like though I wouldn't say it was fluffy either), and since it wasn't too sweet I did get to try their maple syrup, which was a great pairing. Very odd, but I did also order scrambled egg whites on the side which were not something I expected to stand out to me! But they were delicious! I also added some breakfast sausages but they were a bit sweet and I probably wouldn't order them again. The vegan coffee cake was alright, but they topped it with cream cheese which I don't like, so I just had to pick out the bread from the bottom. It totally doesn't taste vegan at all though, so this is definitely a great choice for vegans!
