I had not been in quite some time. I'd had dinner late and was in the mood for something sweet. The place was super clean and the service was awesome! Young man was great! Personable, pleasant, clean. Offered suggestions that went with my paleta choice but in the end I wanted it plain. The woman in front of me was talking about when they have the aqua Fresca in that flavor but it's not often. Missed out, they had it a couple weeks prior. My dad has traveled throughout South America yet he had never heard of a paleta so I HAD to rectify that situation immediately! As soon as I showed him the Paleta Bar on Yelp, we agreed we had to go immediately and get paletas. It became his favorite treat from the first bite. He's a vegan so he loved the fruit options! With regards to COVID, we were extremely impressed with their safety measures such as social distancing, gloves, and masks. The Paleta Bar took over the frozen yogurt place that relocated. I was really sad to see the frozen yogurt place go, but I'm happy we have another cool dessert place still here. We really need places like The Paleta Bar on this side of Rio Rancho/Bernalillo area, so I will definitely be supporting this business and I hope other people in the area do too. The ice cream was yummy and not too sweet, which is good because I was worried that once I added my toppings of chocolate and sugary goodness to it that it would be too sweet, but it was perfectly flavored. My daughter and I shared an oreo bar dipped in white chocolate with fruity pebbles and oreos on top and it was definitely delicious. My other daughter got the gumball bar with milk chocolate on top which wasn't my dessert taste but my kid devoured it. I would definitely like to go back and try more of their desserts for sure. I am interested in trying their elote next time! There are really only two cons: First, it can be pricey and once you start adding toppings it gets even pricer (expect to pay at least $5 per dipped bar, which can add up if you have a big family). And two, it's a relatively small location with not a lot of seating. Even if it isn't moderately busy you might not be able to sit. I went here with my two kids tonight and was bummed that there were literally no seats for us to sit, and they have no seating outside so we literally had to sit on the sidewalk along with some other guests that also had nowhere to sit. I hope they add some outdoor areas to fix this issue, especially with summer time coming. read more

I've been following The Paleta Bar on social media since the beginning, but never tried it until yesterday. I can tell their paletas are legit. Fresh ingredients, a great variety of paletas (most of them made from real fruit). Plenty of toppings and much more. I had the AVOCADO paleta and it was mind-blowing! I picked dark chocolate for my paleta to be dipped in, shredded coconut and strawberries on top. It was so refreshing because it wasn't too sweet but it still reminded me of a treat, and what a treat. The place is small and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. The outside of this place is really inviting; I wish I'd taken pictures of it to show you .... It really drew me in right away at first glance, and absolutely did not disappoint. How they got the decor to somehow match the flavours and the experience I really do not know, but it was done! It was also fun to order and eat and possibly best of all, it's portable. Food on a stick is something you can walk around with -- street food! Yay! Although they also have very nice tables to sit and eat at there. :-) The only thing is I wish some of the customers were better. One teenaged-looking guy came in and basically urinated all over the bathroom. He had a funny look on his face when he came out ... and there is only one bathroom there. It's not like he didn't know what he had done. Disgusting, obviously. Ew! Sad .... I guess there's only so much you can do when someone like that comes in. I do know for sure it was him -- in case you doubt me, which you obviously shouldn't! -- because I was in there right before he was and it was sparkling clean .... I drink a lot of water. I need to use 'the facilities' frequently. It wasn't that I was checking on him, in case you're thinking that -- but he did deserve to both be checked on and banned, actually. If it were my place, I sure wouldn't want him there again. What should I have done? Told the staff? I think the whole 'Don't be a tattle-tale.' thing is way too ingrained in me for my and/ or anyone's good .... We absolutely love coming to this location. The guys on the weekend are so friendly and helpful, so much that we usually go on the weekend just for their service. Today we went and the young lady that helped us was delightful, sweet, and helpful. Her manager on the other hand was pretty terrible. Very rude to every customer that walked in, it was as if she was annoyed that anyone would come to get a paleta. She was the only bad experience we've had. Never been disappointed here! We are frequent customers (2-3 times a week) and always receive EXCELLENT service. All the employees are kind, patient, and make you feel welcomed. They offer samples of all their tasty Paletas, aguas frescas, and jerky. Although this is not a restaurant, we are checked on throughout our stay and offered complimentary water and anything else we may need. When the owner and store manager (?) are in, which is often, they converse with their customers and go above and beyond. As for the treats, there are SO many options including dairy-free.
