We happened to drive past the Pan by chance because there was freeway closure and the GPS happened to directed us in the Pan's direction. The "Serves Breakfast All Day" sign caught our eye as well as the unique design of the building. We got there around 9 am on a Saturday and this place got very busy after we were seated. There is a wide variety of food and I would say that their dishes are anything but ordinary. I had the Country Benedict, which is fried chicken breast cut in half with 2 poached eggs and country gravy instead of a Hollandaise Sauce. My son had the Pastrami and Egg Sandwich, where the pastrami was falling off the sides of the sandwich. My wife opened for a lunch sandwich called the Lucky's Clucky (kind of a chicken club) and my son's girlfriend had the Pitas Chilquiles. We had been to a Gardena location of this fantastic local gem, and the Long Beach iteration did NOT disappoint. It's always busy. The workaround is the fabulous Yelp "waitlist" feature. We added ourselves to the list before we left our hotel and by the time we arrived at the restaurant, we were first in line. Perfect! We both ordered the SAME thing we had at previous meals... we were temped by other offerings but why mess with deliciousness? For me, the "Original loaded hash browns". Holy WOW I could talk about this dish all day. Whatever they put in that chili aioli sauce ... I would lick it off the floor (maybe). We placed our order through Chowhound, but it was back ordered, so we had to wrap back around and do other things while their orders got caught up. It comes with two eggs (over easy for me), choice of meat (bacon for me), and served with their house made potatoes + choice of toast (sourdough for me). I also impulsively ordered a side of ham for $4. You can do without this. Actually, don't do this. This place has a great selection of brunch and lunch items. I was sad when they closed this place down in Pasadena since it had become my favorite brunch spot. Their Benedict with short rib is delicious and I added a specialty pancake that was like a cinnamon roll which was perfect. Besides a wide variety of breakfast food, they also make pretty good deep dish pizza so it makes it difficult to decide whether to eat brunch or lunch here. They also have a wide selection of cocktails and concoctions to complement your meal well. The servers were very friendly and patiently provided recommendations. My only complaint about this place is that it closes way too early -- it would be nice if they expanded their hours. 5+ star review for this gem located in the northern part of Long Beach. It's one of 4 locations (others in Lomita and Gardena) and has a big menu of elevated diner food, focusing on breakfast and lunch (closes at 3 and closed on Tuesdays). We came for lunch on a Monday around 11:45 and parking was a bit of a challenge. They are located in a small strip mall, but as often happens, each business had clearly marked which spots were only for their customers, so no luck there. There is a common parking strip in the back, but that was completely full too, and there were cars circling. We ended up doing non-metered street parking, exercising parallel parking skills. We went to the front, and the hostess checked us in on her i-pad. They took our number and texted us a link where we could check out status in line. They are not taking outdoor seating at this time, so good place to wait and enjoy the sunshine. We were quoted 30 - 35 minute wait, and sure enough in 30 minutes we were called. The space inside is pretty large and the tables and booths are pretty spaced apart. Considering there was a 30 minute wait, I was surprised how many tables were empty, but this is a testament to good planning, making sure there was enough servers and cooks to make the customer experience great once seated. The service is stellar here, all the way from the hostess (very friendly, loudly called out our name when our turn, and seated us in a nice booth) TO our waitress Arlene (very attentive, checked up on us at the right times and got our check to us at the appropriate moment) TO other servers who pitched in to deliver our food and clean our table TO the cooks who not only prepared the delicious food, but knew the timing to our food came out hot. They really have the experience down pat. And the food was really great. I explicitly came for the Load Hashed Browns ($16) and was somehow hoping to replicate my experience at Mickie's Dairy Bar in Madison, WI. Think of it almost as an omlette where instead of egg being the base, it's potatoes. The portions were definitely smaller, and the price was higher, but it tasted a lot better....freshly made hash browns are so much better than using 'American Fries' which is just a way to reuse old baked potatoes from the night before. The hash browns had been prepared just right (crispy on the outside, velvety on the outside, not too greasy), and quality ingredients (bacon, sausage link pieces, some veggies) with two eggs anyway (ordered them over easy which was PERFECT...the runny yolk flowing through the shredded potatoes). It was topped with what they call chili aioli (tasted more like an avocado crema to me). It comes with toast, but you can upcharge to one pancake for $1.50, which was absolutely the right call. They have a fully stocked condiment area at each table, and I loved how they had syrup but also green Tabasco, which I liberally took advantage of for the hash browns. I just loved this. They also serve freshly made pizza. I was curious if they could time the two dishes to come out around the same time and they were very close (hash came about a minute before the pizza), with both being piping hot. The pizza is good, and such a great value. We tried two toppings that we've never tried together in a pizza: pulled pork and pineapple. Cost: $11 for 14" base, and $1.50 for each topping. And they pile on the cheese THICK, the layer of cheese was actually thicker than the crust. The crust is average (more like a biscuit dough than a thin pizza crust), but really respectable for a non-pizzeria...and did I tell you the 2-topping 14" was only $14....c'mon...that's a steal. It was cut into 12 pieces and two slices each was enough for us. Had it for dinner at home, and as expected, it reheats really well and tastes just as good. The sauce seemed to be home-made....oh...because it came out so fresh and so full of cheese, the slice burned the roof of our mouths...molten magma like. Except for the crust, the amount of cheeese and toppings reminded me of tavern style pizza...toppings right to the edge. Now I can also say that I've had a fully loaded hash scrambler witha pretty decent pizza, at the same time, and not at a buffet. The food was delicious, the server was very nice. I don't know if they are understaffed or something else is going on, but I asked for the check twice and after 20 minutes was able to pay. 7/20/24: My partner and I visited this restaurant and had a very disappointing experience. We ordered a 10-piece wings appetizer, but several wings were stuck together, likely served frozen. We informed our server, who offered only 2 additional wings to compensate. Another server then approached, and when my partner asked about the wings, she responded with a rude and unhelpful "it's still chicken." We requested the wings be removed from our bill, as we were disgusted by the presentation + didn't finish them, but this was declined. The chilaquiles plate I ordered and chile verde burrito he ordered were cold and bland (not freshly made chile verde, had a frozen taste) not at all reminiscent of authentic Mexican food. Then, it became even more disappointing that after expressing our dissatisfaction, we were retaliated against and our server Arlene stopped checking on us. We won't be returning. This is one of my favorite breakfast places out here, however, there are a few negative points. Unfortunately my coffee is never hot, its just warm. (French vanilla cappuccino with whip cream 10/10 but like I said never comes hot) This recent time I had over easy eggs, potatoes, and bacon. The only hot item was the bacon. Restaurant ambience is beautiful. I love the home cozy feeling it has with pops of color. Our server, a young gentleman, was very nice, polite, and patient. I ordered the original loaded hash browns plate, and it was okay. The garlic chili aioli it came with made the dish 10x better. Without the aioli the seasoning was definitely missing. The aioli was only on the top of the dish so once you get deeper into the dish it was very a very under seasoned flavor of just potatoes and egg. My husband got the green chilaquiles and the sauce was honestly the best part. A bit of a kick to it but tolerable and it did have that smokey flavor of chilis. The tortilla part of the chilaquiles plate was very soggy and the beans and rice didn't taste authentic. Finally, we had a side order of regular pancakes and again very bland taste.
