I've been in love with The Pantry since I started working in Fairfield, seven years ago! I recently bought a chicken pot pie thinking that their rendition would be good. It was superb! If you like this dish but don't want the goopy gravy that most often serves to unite the various ingredients, try The Pantry's version! No goop! Just white meat chicken, yummy veggies combined well and with a biscuit type crust. They have two sizes and I am going back for another tomorrow! Excellent bakery with reasonable prices on pies, cakes, etc. my favorites are the key lime pie, the carrot cake and the cheesecake. I also buy the frozen cookie dough & bake fresh cookies at home. The cowboy cookies are my favorite. I also enjoy the chicken pot pie that has the biscuit crust, and they make really good soups. However, some of the other prepared foods are a little pricey. Overall nice friendly service, parking sometimes can be a challenge, but overall I highly recommend it. read more

The cakes are reasonably priced and are delicious, and are frankly better than a lot of shops in the area that are just bakeries. This is a cute grocery/ take out place. Best baked goods and the staff are always nice and helpful. Many regulars here on a daily basis and I understand why. Absolutely love this place. Their groceries are definitely on the pricey side but I'm speaking of their prepared foods specifically. I've never had an item from the bakery I didn't like. All made on premises, you can get a fantastic cake made to order, croissants, muffins, bagels, and the best cookies in all of Fairfield. (Maybe even all of Connecticut. Seriously.) They also feature seasonal items which are always worth trying - the apple cider donuts in the fall are to die for. And they have great coffee and the friendliest staff. Granted, I've been frequenting the place for years, but it's a community feeling which you won't find many places in Fairfield. As other reviewers have mentioned they also have a fantastic salad bar and deli section - all with super fresh bread and veggies. They have catering services which I've never tried but I understand it's quite good, too, which is not in the least bit surprising to me. Not sure what all the hype is here about their food. Their shepherd's pie they recommended was lousy and the pastries are just okay. You can honestly get better pastries at ShopRite or even Isabelle's if you like to spend money. Their meat is over priced and packaged organic or vegetarian-fed meats at a supermarket seem better quality. It's not worth buying fruit or other items there are they are well overpriced. My favorite salad bar of all time- lots of awesome vegetable options like roasted sweet potato, eggplant, beets, dressed kale, and you can pair it with quinoa, low mein, and some other eclectic salads. Great soup bar with paleo options and all ingredients are listed. It's a really chill place to have lunch. My absolute favorite bakery! We get all of our baked goods here and have yet to be disappointed by anything. The cookies are out of this world. It's always my go-to place for lunch--best salad bar around. Lots of toppings and delicious homemade dressings. Dressings can be purchased to go as well. I love that you pick out the salad toppings and they make the salad for you-a much cleaner way of doing things. The price is very reasonable too. I always get a big salad with lots of chicken and it doesn't cost more than $6.50. The staff is extremely efficient. There may be a line, but it moves quickly. As far as the market portion of the store goes-they have a pretty small selection, but I can normally find what I am looking for and the prices are reasonable. I grew up in Fairfield and have gone to the Pantry a few times over the years. The quality of the food I've had in the past was decent, although today I have to say I was really disappointed with their customer service. My elderly father recently broke his arm and with his inability to cook, I thought having some prepared food delivered would help. I called the Pantry to ask what they would deliver (as they advertise delivery on their site) - I live in California and am obviously not able to pick anything up myself. Whoever answered basically refused to help me - after informing me they won't make any more deliveries today, when I asked about tomorrow he said they don't know what's on the menu and won't arrange for a driver. His attitude was rude, unhelpful, and made it clear that they did not want my business. He offered no other options and did not try to find a solution to help me a place an order. I wish I could give an accurate review of the food (but since I was not allowed to place an order, I can't!), but to be honest if this service is this poor, I would not return again next time I'm in town. I've worked in customer service and when I come across people who clearly don't want to talk to and or/try to help others in the food service industry it makes me wonder why they're in that business to begin with. read more

Their quality and variety is simply the best! Their daily offerings are always so fresh and delicious with many healthy options for meat lovers or vegetarians, as well as vegan, gluten or dairy free people. As someone who likes to eat healthy but have no dietary restrictions, I can fully enjoy all of their magnificent offerings. The bakery is incomparable with a delicious daily array of freshly baked beautiful cakes, cookies and other treats like their classic pumpkin loaf with cranberry & chocolate chips or their morning glory muffins. I have never tasted an item from that bakery that wasn't superb! I have to avoid browsing sometimes because it's all irresistible! You can't go wrong with an assortment of their cookies or one of their excellent cakes! The Pantry has saved me many many hours of shopping, prepping, cooking and cleaning by supplying first rate prepared meals ready to take home and simply reheat any day of the week for which I am eternally grateful! I love this place!!!!! I used to go there at least once a week for the great salads that they make. Also, the tortilla crusted tilapia is one of my favorites. Wash that all down with a slice of key lime pie and I'm content!!! Unfortunately, I live down South now and they have NOTHING like the pantry down here.
