The waitresses who served us were great. The decor was very Irish "pubbish." However, the food was okay. In their defense, it was two days after July 4th, and they were out of many things. But little did we know until we had ordered drinks and an appetizer that they bake all their food. They use convection ovens and do not fry anything (for your health." So, if frying is a health concern, this pub is for you. My wife got the Shepherd's Pie and said it was good. I wanted the fish and chips, but they were out of fish. So, I got "The Dubliner," which is a 1/2 lb cheeseburger. I asked for it to be well done. It was baked, and came out very medium, almost medium rare. Because I had eaten the fries and some of the burger before realizing it was undercooked and not an issue with being baked (I've never eaten a baked burger before), I told the waitress. She apologized and offered to either recook it or refund my part of the bill. I told her giving it for half-price was more fair, which she did. Again, if you like everything baked, you'll probably like it more. I like my burgers well done with a char. Baking them just doesn't cut it for me. read more

I came in for dinner on a Monday night. Being new to the area, I had previously reviewed the menu online and decided to give this place a try as lots of things sounded delicious! I was welcomed almost immediately by a friendly bartender. There were two girls working behind the bar and both checked in on me from time to time throughout my time there. Service was great! The atmosphere is a fun bat atmosphere. They have their draft beers and alcohol on display, which helped me make my decision in picking a Strawberry Rhubarb cider. The bartender offered me a sample first but I went for the whole draft. It was really good! Everything on the menu goes with the Irish/British pub theme, which I think is great! I settled on the corned beef and cabbage, which was decently priced at $11 or $12. It came out within 15 minutes and was a hefty portion. The plate also included potatoes and carrots along with the corned beef and cabbage. The vegetables did not have much seasoning so I ended up using some salt and pepper along with the Dijon mustard that came on the side to help season. The corned beef was absolutely amazing- tender, juicy, seasoned perfectly. It was delicious and balanced well with the under seasoned veggies. Overall, I had a great experience- great food, good atmosphere, nice & attentive bartenders. There were some other delicious items on the menu and I will definitely be back! read more

The first thing you need to know is that everything here is prepared in a convection oven. They don't have a fryer. That's both good and bad. Healthier perhaps but it might also be a shortcut. Do NOT get the fish and chips. Mine were nothing more than three cheap previously frozen breaded fish patties much like the fish sticks from college dorm days. The French fries were also oven baked. Meh. My wife had the corned beef and cabbage. She was okay with the big chunks of corned beef, but everything else was bland. It appears that each item was prepared separately and then plated. The traditional enjoyment of this dish comes because they are cooked together and the juices flavor the other elements. Finally, I will say that the beer selection seemed good. Not a lot of draft options, but adequate can and bottle options to choose from. Compared to other pubs we have visited, I cannot rate this one as an experience worth revisiting. We were staying in Murphy over the weekend and checked out places to eat using Yelp. This place was rated high and I really enjoy good fish and chips. People were friendly. Seemed a little short staffed which is understandable given this is the era of Covid. I had the fish and chips and it was "doughy" for lack of a better term and was lacking in fish. The fish was also lukewarm. Chips/fries were good. My wife ordered a dish that was supposedly gluten-free but included regular bread. The soup itself was okay. read more

We stopped in for lunch while vacationing in the mountains. At first we were excited as the place was busy and had a nice vibe to it. We both ordered French onion soup and Ruben sandwiches. The soup was very good but the Ruben was not good at all. Instead of sliced and piled high corned beef it was chopped up into little pieces and mixed with the sauerkraut and there was way more sauerkraut than corned beef. While visiting Murphy for the weekend, I stumbled upon a neat pub in the heart of downtown. It was hot outside so I went in to have a cold beer. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The pale ale was cold and hit the spot. The ladies invited me to come back for dinner. After a long, hot afternoon exploring Murphy and Andrews, I went back to the pub. We are from out of town and were looking for a nice local place to try, and the reviews on yelp looked good so we decided to give this place a try but we ended up walking out because of how unwelcoming the whole atmosphere and people were. Our second visit to Parson's was just as good as our first! Their sausage rolls are the best I've had this side of the pond! The staff is friendly and funny and they know their drinks! Do know that they don't fry anything (stated in their menu) so fish and chips are baked (but still amazing)... If I had read the menu on our first visit I would have known lol!!! First timers on Saturday night. Had reservations. The server was very friendly and informative - she was able to give us good information about the ales so we could order what we liked. They were excellent. The reason I am not giving them 5 stars is not because of the food - the shepherd's pie and corn beef and cabbage were delicious. However, we ordered the sausage rolls as an appetizer with the ale, and after 30 minutes, and no rolls, after asking about them twice, we were served our entrees, and were told by the server that the roll order had not been placed. Oh well. Our server offered a free chocolate cake dessert because of the roll issue, which we agreed to, but were then told they were out of it -6:30 on a Saturday night. Finally, when the check came, the server told us she discounted the bill by 40% because of the food/service issues, which was very surprising, but we thought the right thing to do. Me and my buddy were passing our way through here to head to Asheville and actually wanted to go to the sushi place beside this place but they didn't open for another hour. This place has a great pub decor and although the food is so so, the service and atmosphere make it worth while. Just had the Shepards Pie and It is fantastic! I don't know what they seasoned the steamed broccoli with but it was too. I got the Mississippi Mud Pie to go and it looks amazing but I'm still to full to try it. Service was very good and the food came out quick. I opted for an app. of fries with "Guinness cheese".... a homemade concoction made with beer, yes, Guinness....which were good.
