We just had Brian and The Paver Guys install pavers and a decorative wall in our backyard and we are so happy with the result! Our original backyard was a combination of uneven concrete and brick, with a haphazard planter box taking up significant potential outdoor space, all framed with a leaning (and cracked in multiple places) decorative wall. Brian came out to our house twice during the bid process; first to provide the initial bid, then a second time to highlight minor tweaks (how he would do a step landing, how he would modify an awkwardly placed downspout, etc.) which showed he was truly thinking about the big picture. His crew ran into unforeseen issues excavating the existing decorative wall, but he came up with multiple options on how to best approach the situation, and the end result was a really nice wall with significantly improved drainage for the back of our property. Brian was a great communicator throughout, keeping in touch with how various aspects of the project were progressing, and his crew was polite and professional the entire time. I am very pleased with the installation of pavers for my side and back yards by The Paver Guys (TPG). 1200 sq ft of 50 year old concrete needed to go. 3 bids received, and I selected TPG based upon reviews, the best price, and warranted work. They showed up on Friday and finished on the following Wednesday. Very hard workers. They kept the work site orderly. Always had a crew foreman on-site and I also met with the project manager daily. I now have proper drainage in my yard which was not thought of when my house was built in the 60's. Yes, this type of job makes your yard a construction zone (tracked dirt, stacks of pavers, piles of gravel, cement dust) for a few days but the end product is so worth it. A beautiful result. My back yard is now a place I can look forward to using. All around, a great group of people to work with. I highly recommend them. read more

If you only read one sentence of my review it should be this: Stay far away from the Paver Guys. Spare yourself the aggravation, the headaches, the poor quality, and your weekends fixing the crap the Paver Guys create and stand by. Your project will be an absolute headache from beginning to end. James G's review from 8/4/2021 was exactly like our experience. Instead of doing things the right way, Brian took shortcut after shortcut to cut costs and was never around while his foreman made one dumb decision after another with our project. For most of the project, I was doing quality control for Brian and texting him when his contractors were screwing up. Brian will promise you everything you want to get the deal, but then he'll barely be around to oversee the project and his clueless forman will run the show. Here are some of the highlights (see pictures as evidence): 1. We asked for a specific fire pit during the quoting process with a link and picture of the brand and size, included it in our permit, and communicated with brian via text. At no point during the build did Brian tell us we weren't getting what we asked for. He came up with a pathetic cheap, and unsafe solution. We asked him to fix it repeatedly and had to threaten to take him to small claims court, and threatened to report him to the BBB. This is the type of person Brian is. He wasn't upfront with us about what he was doing and tried to hide his pathetic firepit solution that we didn't want. We ended up settling for the size he delivered and I had to redesign the burner support system and pay for it myself just so i didn't have to deal with Brian again. 2. Project started over a month late, Brian blamed it on the rain even though it rained once between when we signed the contract and our supposed start date. 3 We repeatedly asked Brian prior to the project start to ensure all dirt and debris from the demo was hauled away and not dispersed in our yard. Brian of course dispersed concrete chunks in our yard. 4. No porta potty provided for his workers. (where did they go to the bathroom). Cost cutting measure i'm sure. 5. We had a plumber lined up to do all plumbing work like removing 2 cleanouts from the side of our house. Brian said he could do it, and then offered up a horrible solution to hide our cleanouts we wanted to remove. As an engineer i couldn't let it slide and i had to do the plumbing myself. Brian wanted to cut the cleanout branch off and glue an ill fitting "blank" on and jam a paver against it to secure it. This is not even remotely close to how a cleanout should be removed. I spent 2 nights of my personal time doing the plumbing for the project. 6. They broke my sprinkler manifold after repeatedly being warned to protect the pipes / manifolds. Brian refused to fix it because "it was in bad shape" . So I had to spend the weekend doing it myself. 7. Foreman tried to convince me that it was ok to Build the patio without removing a 4" x 6' concretre pad that was found 3 inches under the soil. I had to call Brian and inform him and tell the foreman why this would cause uneven settling of the patio 7. They didn't use a wet saw to cut the pavers and covered our trees, house, etc... with dust. Never cleaned it up. 8. During the 2nd and 3rd redo of our firepit (yes they had to rebuild our firepit 3 times) they drilled and cracked the topper stones on our fire pit. They replaced them and used cardboard to shim pavers in our firepit. Yes, CARDBOARD IN A FIREPIT was deemed ok by the forme 9. The workers locked the burner valve to our firepit in concrete pavers so that it if the valve failed we would have to chip out the pavers to replace the valve. Again, if he used the fire pit kit we asked for it would have been installed correctly and easily serviceable. 10. After Brian told me he didn't need me to manage his project his workers built a section of our patio to the wrong size, which Brian of course didn't catch so I had to point it out to him so they could fix it. 11. One month after "project completion" the polymeric sand collapsed into the cracks between our pavers. This was caused by Brian and his team rushing to finish the job and not taking the time to actually fill the gaps properly. Instead of Brian sending someone out to fix it, HE TOLD ME HOW TO FIX IT. After calling him out on that and the numerous other issues he sent someone out to fix the polymeric sand issues. They of course used the wrong color polymeric sand, lol. 11. Brian convinced my wife that a whistling firepit was normal and told us he used non-whistling tubing and we should just keep it on low. After inspection he didn't use non-whistling tubing eventhough he said he did. He took final payment from my wife fully knowing he didn't deliver what we asked for without telling us, and delivered an inferior quality fire pit. I have had to redo all the tubing on the firepit to prevent it from whistling. read more

Majestic did a complete overhaul of our backyard to include fire pit, low voltage lighting, raised patio, outdoor kitchen, pathways, circle sitting areas, sport-court kids area and jacuzzi pad. We had a very basic idea in mind to make our backyard more useable. Brian took our idea and not only made it feasible but improved it beyond our expectations. We did our diligence and received several estimates. Majestic was not only competitive but promised to do the most complex job with intricate details that the other companies wouldn't do. Brian was honestly excited to do our job and you could tell from the start of the design to end of the job. His crew was always professional and easy to communicate with. They were on time to the job site every day that the weather would allow. They worked 6 days a week if not 7. The final outcome makes our backyard a destination and extremely inviting. We love our new hardscape, which was designed and installed by Brian Schmidt, the hands-on owner of Majestic. When we bought our house seven years ago, our 40-year old poorly installed cement circular driveway was already badly cracked, but the bottom fell out of the housing market and so did the equity in our house, so we waited. When we were ready, we wanted to do it right - we had about 2000 square feet of driveway! We got 5 bids; not only was Brian's bid competitive with the others (including a bid for straight concrete), but Brian had the vision to offer a re-design of the front porch that has transformed the appearance of our house. There aren't enough stars and words of praise that I can give Brian and The Paver Guys team! From the initial conversation with Donna to the consultation and stone selection with Brian to the install crew; each step was seamless! Our patio had a ton of little issues (roots growing through it, a drainage no one knew about, difficult access, odd shape) and Brian took it all in stride. He communicated each step and hiccup we found, was always solution oriented and professional. I appreciated that he was very budget conscious with us and didn't make recommendations we didn't need. One of the reasons I knew I was going to work with Brian (other than being just a really nice guy) was he had taken the time to connect with the business behind our property to see if they can use their parking lot to store their trucks and the stone. It was one less thing I needed to do and worry about and I appreciated that! The week of dismantling and install the team was courteous, hard working, on time and easy going. I had exactly what I wanted in mind (a bit more modern) and he worked with my plan, made suggestions and was professional and courteous throughout. The transformation was amazing. Brian and his crews just finish the big project for my yard today and did a very decent work. The project involved a retaining wall of engineered blocks, around 130 feet long and about 3 feet tall (from foundation rocks), and a 5-ft wide path of engineered slates along the retaining wall. They also built a new section of fence and a new gate for me, which were much better and durable than my old ones. The entire crews, with Isidro and Juan as foremen who specialize in such construction works, were great to work with, worked very hard and got very decent working attitude. I was 98% satisfied with this project. The 2% was taken off because the salesperson's underestimates of the amount of works and materials needed for this project. Still, I will consider Brian to take care of my future project when there is any. read more

Out of all the bids we received, Brian (owner, with wife Donna) included more detail and added design than any other bid. Our project was a patio, gas fire pit, sitting wall bench, seal new patio (also cleaned and resealed my existing 18 month old patio), sod lawn with irrigation, plus area lighting and The Paver Guys were able to do it all. They started on time, stayed on budget (no surprise costs), and finished when promised, which was huge to us because we needed to use the space the day after promised. The job was a nightmare from the start. First they don't take their tools ( left them in our side yard from start to finish) and had multiple trucks an vehicles parked in front of neighbors houses even after we told them not to. Left dump truck and stake bed truck parked here in front for the entire job. Left the job a wreck every day. Ruined places on our astro turf lawn which now has permanent flat spots. Cut all the stone using a dry saw which sent brick dust all over everything in our yard as well as the neighbors yards. Argued with me constantly about what we "should" do rather than what we wanted. Pawned off block to trim the driveway/planters with it that's not what was in the original bid/agreement. After all the block was done, sanded in the rain with the cheapest sand sold that never was properly installed and sealed because I wasn't willing to let them leave it a mess. The job was sub-par and cut corners every where he could. We had them remove and relay pavers we had before that were in good condition. They said they would stack them and wash them but in stead loaded them into a wheel barrel and threw them into the bed of the dump truck damaging the majority of them. Then when they power washed them they used some machine that literally ground all the edges off and pitted them all. They look horrible now. Brian is not a professional and in fact seem like a novice. His crew work by the piece and he actually is not a masonry contractor. I would warn you off these guys. I'll have to have someone come in behind them to fix and properly sand the whole job Left 2 broken sprinkler pipes. They said they fixed them but in fact installed a sprinkler where there wasn't one. Asked them to come fix them on several occasions 3 months later and they haven't fixed them. Don't hire these guys. read more

From the initial pricing estimate provided DURING THE SAME MEETING (other bidders said they'd revert with pricing later, some didn't) to the gentle suggestions, every step of the way, on how to make the plan even better. Pricing was fair, and the project came in on time, as promised. An additional benefit is that Brian listens carefully to considerations and makes professional and thoughtful suggestions to improve the outcome significantly. Not sure what happened here. Came by a day or so after contact about doing a paver and wall job. Spent quite a while measuring and doing a mock-up design. Promised a quote within a few days. After a week passed he said he was busy and would get one by the weekend. Never happened again. So I inquired again a week later and again just a promise to get a quote. So, I would say in closing that intial contact was responsive but the follow-up was not there. Maybe my 800 sq-ft job was too small for his business? read more

I should have posted this review a long time ago... Brian and his team paved my driveway in late 2015. He worked with me to scale the job to my specifications and budget. The results were outstanding! Now almost four years later the work still looks as good as new. The obvious quality and my positive experience prompted my neighbors to hire Brian to pave their driveway last year, and they're very pleased with the result. I called this company due to the fact that they deal with smaller outdoor areas and had positive reviews on Yelp. Signed a contract to have a fence built and was also discussing landscaping my back patio area in the near future. Brian said he'd have my fence built by that weekend (signed the contract Monday). He never showed. Contacted him Sunday evening to find out what happened, he said he needed more time and would have it completed the following Friday- that never happened either. Called him and left another message and I never heard back. I expressed the importance of the job being done because I have a dog and needed the fence built prior to moving in. Brian and his wife were both very nice, so this was very disappointing. I was looking forward to working with them. If they didn't have time to do the job, they shouldn't have signed a contract with me. It completely wasted time I could've hired a contractor who was going to follow through. read more

Posting an update on my previous review. My primary concerns listed in detail in my original review were (a) majestic paver guys rushed through towards the end of my project and did not finish the job with perfection and left lots of small things unfinished and (b) left a non-functional sprinkler system. I'm appreciative and happy that Brian and his crew came by and understood all my concerns in detail and spend considerable effort to addressed all my previous concerns. My backyard looks awesome. I'm now happy with final results. We also came to realization that for a big project like remodeling ~2000 sq ft backyard there will always be lots of unknowns and surprises and we have to improvise as we go along. We are happy that Brian was patient and professional throughout this journey and he finally came through his promise and delivered a great looking and most utility backyard. read more

Compared to competitors, Brian's pricing is excellent.. he was able to coordinate my concerns and particular requests without hesitation. While the project did take a good 2 weeks, I noticed that the crew worked meticulously and carefully (I'd rather have quality over speed anytime when it comes to these kind of projects). In addition, all of the crew members were also very friendly and knowledgeable; they were able to answer my questions and provide the processes that are involved with my project. I'm so very pleased with the outcome of my paver installation! It's a little work of art!! This is true craftsmanship, not concrete or modular paver installation-- this is one paver at at time installation. Lots of hard work and lots of attention to detail. This is a very good company. The owner, Brian, visited the project almost every day. The walked me through the process and helped me make aesthetic, functional, and cost-effective decisions. I never felt I was being sold unnecessary work-- quite the contrary. Brian helped me pause on changes that would become too costly and imprudent. I should add the craftsmen were polite and I felt perfectly comfortable with their presence all around my home. Very nice folks!!! One thing to bear in mind, because this is a ton of work, it's a big undertaking. The removal of old concrete, then the hand cutting of pavers. It's a noisy and dusty endeavor. But, well worth it in the end, and a far superior alternative to stamped concrete. I'm glad I was present for all of it, because there were questions along the way, and I was there to make important decisions. Also, to witness the hard work and placement of each paver helped me understand why the cost is what it is. I'm super happy with the experience (noise and dust notwithstanding).
