At one point, I simply wanted to check on my daughter and make sure she was okay. Instead of being treated with respect, I was dismissed by a staff member who loudly said, "Somebody come get her," as if I was causing a problem for wanting to see my own child. As a paying parent, I found that incredibly rude and unprofessional. Looking back, if I had seen the condition my daughter was in at that moment, I would have absolutely freaked out. She later came out for her second dance looking completely disheveled, with her hair undone and appearing as though no one had checked on her. We were told the children would be supervised and performance-ready, but that clearly was not the case. What upset me even more was learning that my daughter had asked to use the bathroom and was not taken. She ultimately ended up wetting herself. No one contacted us to let us know, no one explained what happened, and no one communicated with our family. Then, during pickup, my family was told that no one knew where my daughter was. For several terrifying minutes, we genuinely believed our child was missing. We were running around the venue in a panic, only to later find out someone had taken her to the bathroom. A simple conversation could have prevented that fear. The facility itself left much to be desired. The children's bathroom was often dirty, with an old step stool by the sink and oversized containers of dish soap that were difficult for young children to use independently. The recital also raised serious concerns about the overall quality of the program. After spending thousands of dollars on tuition, costumes, recital fees, and private lessons, I expected a higher standard of instruction and professionalism. Watching the adult performances only reinforced my concerns. If I had seen those performances before enrolling, I would have looked elsewhere for dance training. Parents trust dance studios with their children and their hard-earned money. They deserve proper supervision, communication, professionalism, and quality instruction. Unfortunately, after two years at Reveal, that was not my experience, and I cannot recommend this studio to other families.

The CEO did not intervene and remained silent, and the parent of the student involved was not contacted until I addressed the issue myself. This dance studio struggles with communicating what respecting one another or accountability looks like as the unkind child still attends the dance school. It's not a coincidence that a few reviews on here mention the bullying issue and it going unaddressed. This led our family to move to a studio with clearer expectations for respect, accountability, and an age-appropriate classroom structure. Additionally, when families first join the company, new dancers are not allowed to perform during their first year. Parents are told this is because they are new and should observe the more experienced dancers, with the expectation that they will perform in their second year. However, families are still required to attend competitions and pay the associated fees for competitions even though their child does not perform. After doing some research, I learned that spectators are generally not required to pay these types of fees to simply watch competitions. As a result, the policy felt confusing and difficult to understand, especially since families are contributing financially to a competition team their child is part of but does not participate in competition dances during their first year.

Her teacher ms. Alexis is awesome and my daughter loves her classes. They just had their recital and it was amazing!!! Last year I was a back stage mom but this year I decided to sit in the audience and watch, my daughter had two numbers. after the first one I was able to go and sit with her and wait for the second number. Ms. Geena is so nice and helpful and great with the kids. I can't say enough about this school the classes are by far more professional than any other school we have been to. Mrs. Lisa is also amazing always very attentive and very warm, the numbers that she choreographed were amazing. I have recommended this school to others at my daughter's school and we will definitely be going back this fall and my daughter can't wait to start her new classes with ms. I love all the staff they are all very friendly and willing to help you with anything that you may need. They are all educated and trained in what they teach and i feel that to be very important. Its great that they offer a variety of classes from yoga to bootcamp and everything in between. I myself do the kickboxing and bootcamp 4 days a week with an occasionaly yoga class when i have time and i have seen amazing results. Leon is a great trainer and he pushes you to do your best because he wants results!! Ambria's Zogalaties class makes u sweat as well and is great for toning. I have referred many people here because i truly believe its an amazing place to work out and to make friends. its only 10 dollars a class or 100 for the month so you really cant go wrong, i would recommend this place to everyone!!

The Bronx House solves that problem for me. I am a big fan of the variety of fitness class offerings and indoor cycling is the most popular (the class fills up right after the previous ab class). Cherelle, who leads this class on Tuesdays, is a great trainer and puts the hurt locker on while making exercise on a stationary bike "fun". The pool is 25 yards and way shorter than an olympic size pool (50 meters). Size matters, eh? During lap swim hours, the pool is divided into two lanes: slow and slower. For those who need a good workout, be prepared to swim around your neighbors. During the summer, test your patience with all of the visitors with day passes. The gym and pool hours are limited and designated for classes and gender/age groups. If the location works for you and you can accept the limited schedules, join the Bronx House. The gym, with the TRX equipment alone is superior to most of the $20 gyms in the area. Make sure to review the calendar for holiday and maintenance closings. Call in if you're looking to attend class soon, but stick to email if your inquiry isn't urgent. It does take some time for them to get back to you because they have so many people to get back to. I reached out via email because I wanted to take a hip hop class for fun but lack dance experience. The best thing about a private session is that tutors cater their lessons to suit your level and pace. After further consultation about the type of dance style and music I was interested in, they helped me book an appointment. I also wanted to note that I was being rather difficult due to a change in my schedule and went back and forth about attending the class. I initially asked for a refund but ultimately decided to attend and the staff were really understanding about it. A class costs about $100 not including other add-ons (music video editing and filming). If you decide to schedule a private session you should have the following information prepared -location you want the session at (you're responsible for renting the studio space if you choose Manhattan) -dates and time preferences for the session (classes are based on instructor availability which typically means most weekends during the afternoon or evening) -style of dance and music suggestions (instructor ultimately decides on the routine and song but you can tell them what you're looking for) Once you're booked you'll get a confirmation email and payment instructions. Payments must be made at least 2 days in advance before your class. GETTING THERE: You can take the F to Parsons and hop on the Q65 bus if you don't want to take the LIRR. I believe the F, 7, N, and Q can also take you there but expect to do a couple of transfers if you don't live in the area. I'm hours away from the flushing location but I made the trip based on reviews. I'm not confident enough to perform in groups and decided a private session would be a good way to start. I heard how welcoming and friendly the instructors and students are at this place so decided to give it a shot. THE LESSON: I just finished my private lesson with Christina and I feel empowered. We danced to Ariana Grandes God is a Woman which was originally prepared for one of their intermediate classes. Her choreography really had me feelin myself. I have two left feet and at times got really nervous trying to be technically accurate but Christina was so patient with me and gave excellent tips on how to loosen up and enjoy dance. She broke down all the steps clearly, slowly and then we practiced on an off with music. I definitely want to continue practicing and come back for lessons again. Also, as a heads up be sure to ask if you can record the session because they typically only record when you're done with the entire choreography. For those of you who are beginners as well, live close to Manhattan, and want to try group classes she recommends Ness and Fernando (my spelling might be inaccurate) if you're looking to learn upbeat hip hop style dance. They teach on Wednesday and Friday. Overall, this class really helped boost my confidence and it was worth the cost and trip.
