I would happily come back and request Jerome as my server. He was excellent. The restaurant was busy for brunch but my girlfriends and I didn't feel it hurt the quality or the service. Last day in DC after a memorable weekend with a family weeding, wonderful stay, great food, a superb hotel, and then we decided to come down for breakfast. At The Pembroke. We didn't realize we needed reservations and initially we gave them a walk-in party of five people, they gave us forty minutes wait time. All of a sudden two split as they needed to start driving back to Philly. So we went back and they gave us initially twenty minutes, then the manager told us to hold on and after a minute he had a wonderfully located table for us. Awesome. These guys have wonderful service. Maitre d' I will say, is one of the best in the business. Not only us, but we saw him working miracles for others. On a full restaurant, that's an achievement. I ordered a double espresso and a Smoked slalom bagel. Enormous, served open-face style because the amount wouldn't have fit in a bagel. Plenty of capers, a hunk of sliced salmon comprised of several slices, sliced red onions, and lot of cream cheese with a little EVO on top. Oh yum. My other half had the Eggs Benedict and these were also just awesome. Ambiance wise it was delightful. Families, older people, several in wheelchairs, attesting to the wonderful accessibility of this restaurant. Overall, A-1. Excellent day to wind up a tremendous vacation, however short. read more

i was in DC visiting this weekend but had passed by a The Pembroke heading to a speakeasy nearby on a prior trip. The ambiance just passing by had exterior allure so I was excited to try this restaurant on this visit. Manny our server this experience was also the mixologist for the bar. Manny was so inviting and mad cool. He offered great recommendations and was able to "take a hit" when I went in I went in the total opposite direction. LOL We had the octopus and the levain bread as apps and it was substantial so divine i failed to capture a pic. We had the filet and the pesto based pasta for dinner and they both literally top 3 meals ever. Finished with the bundt cake accented with coffee ice cream and I would literally eat that dessert daily.. Moist with a bottom so most it was almost caramelized . manny , the music , the cocktails, the meal, the lighting,... nothing could've made this experience better except having more time to enjoy it. looking forward to a return soon read more

I like the rooms which have nice amenities like espresso machines, heated bathroom floors, robes and slippers, bottled water, and nightly turn down service. I attended a work conference here for a few days and the hotel coordination was awful. On the first day of the conference, all the tables (each one sat 8 people) had a single pitcher of water that hotel staff never refilled during the day. There were no water dispensers or anything in the ballroom and no water fountains or anything in the hallways. Had to fill up my water bottle in the bathroom sink. On the second day, they remedied the water situation and placed dispensers throughout the room. Lunch on the second day was sandwiches and they... ran out of sandwiches with about 20 people without food. Like there was absolutely no food at all, nothing even small they could eat. It then seemed like a manager or someone higher up was in the back making more sandwiches and rushing them out so that these people could get lunch. The sandwiches that were originally on the buffet line were definitely nicer type (steak, etc) and the frantic ones that were made for the remaining people seemed to just be basic lunchmeat. They also didn't have any vegetarian options so there were several people that could not eat anything at all since all of the sandwiches had meat. There were constant issues with the A/V equipment in the ballroom where PowerPoints wouldn't load, mics were not working, etc. At one point the presenters had to shout their presentations because all the microphones had shut off. I've attended this conference several times in the past and this is the first time they've held it at this hotel. Definitely hope they never hold it here again. read more

I had a great experience at this hotel. The suites are really nice so if you can get a suite, I would do it. I really liked the terrace/balcony. It was a pretty decent size and the view of DuPont Circle was amazing from the terrace. The bathtub was also nice and relaxing and the heated floor tiles in the bathroom was definitely a plus. I love this place! It is in a convenient location that is accessible to many of the agencies I typically visit when I am in town. The service is outstanding. It's the old world style of service where the staff ensure that you have a pleasant stay that is sorry free. For example, I asked where The Pembroke restaurant was located and instead of pointing me in the right direction, someone walked me to the restaurant and waited for the hostess to greet me. It has been a while since I have received that level of service at a hotel. The rooms are comfortable. Mine has a king bed, desk, walk in shower, and a half couch where I could relax to watch the big screen TV. This is my new go-to spot in DC. read more

THE GOOD NEWS: This hotel is in an EXCELLENT location (10/10, A+++). Just steps away from Krispy Kreme, and right near a Metro subway stop. Our room (on the 8th floor) was clean, quiet, and relatively comfortable. The bathroom floor was heated, which was really nice. The TV was huge, of very good picture quality, and we were able to wirelessly mirror our mobile devices to the TV without any cables. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were brought a small refrigerator and a fan, both at no additional cost. THE BAD NEWS: For a supposed 5-star hotel, the layout and design of the entire bathroom area was VERY poorly executed. The only area that had any sort of "privacy" was the toilet and shower (the entire sink area is right out in the open, so if you're laying in bed, you see EVERYTHING going on there). If anyone was sitting on the toilet, you had no choice but to see their silhouette through the frosted glass (which had a huge more than 1/2" gap between the two panes, by the way). Which means if you're there with a friend, co-worker, or anyone you're not intimate with, you'll see a lot more than you want to see. The shower design was terrible. The lack of a completely enclosed shower means the floor is gonna get SOAKED no matter how careful you are. And you're gonna get bombarded with freezing cold water as soon as you turn it on, as there's no way to turn the faucet unless you're standing right underneath the shower head. But the temperature and pressure were OK. We were told our room had a "courtyard view". Well, take a look at the so-called courtyard view in the photos below. This wasn't a really big deal, as we were there to see the rest of DC (which is beautiful), but still. The minibar was super expensive (as you'd expect), but the lobby was very nice, and again - the staff were friendly and very helpful. But no matter what, I still can't get past the terrible design and layout of the bathroom area. read more

The staff is amazing, Thomas at the front desk will go out of his way to make sure you have everything to make your stay perfect. I got a cold while I was here, he personally went to CVS for cold medicine, and even got me coffee creamer!! The hotel recently had an upgrade and no expense was spared! The bedding and bath linens were top notch! I overslept. The terrace has a great view of the circle. I wish it would have snowed!! The hotel was spotless, smells like home!! read more

Would highly recommend staying here. The staff was great from the front desk to the concierge/bellman to the room service. Our room was cleaned up daily and then upon returning each night they had a turn down service and got everything orderly again. Each member of the staff was more than willing to go out of their way for everything and upon entering and exiting for a warm welcome from someone. Great location as well and central to so much stuff. Didn't make use of the amenities but did see the gym and it looked like a nice size with decent equipment to meet your needs. Only downfall would be a little noisy with the room facing the circle but can't complain, it was construction so I'm sure that's temporary. Definitely overlooked because the amazing service outweighed that. Would recommend and definitely stay again. There was a young man working as bellman at the door (not sure that's his title) I believe his name was maybe Harold ( I'm horrible w remembering names) but I think he was fairly new there. He was so friendly and did a great job with bringing bags up to room, to greeting us when we were coming and going. Social and helpful! read more

The hotel experience was positive but the valet parking was not. Their valet driver crashed my rental car while parking it. After going back and forth through car insurance companies, they apparently did not have coverage at the time of the accident. Now they are refusing to pay the claim and are putting the responsibility on me. This accident happened in November of last year. For such a prestigious hotel, you'd think they would vet the parking company or at least verify they have insurance coverage before trusting their valet employees to park guests' cars. I attempted to call the hotel directly to address this issue and the line disconnected multiple times. read more

Wonderful luxury boutique hotel in a great location with an exceptionally friendly, helpful staff. Harriet checked us in and upgraded us to a lovely corner king deluxe room. Small but comfortable, elegant, beautifully appointed room with a comfortable bed and a corner leather couch and full size desk by the window. 2 min walk to Redline Metro, Starbucks, CVS, and Kramers books. Restaurants everywhere! The lovely Phillips Collectiononly is only a five minute walk. They even have turn down service with chocolate and fabulous automatic blackout blinds behind the shuttered windows. One of my most favorite hotels. We will be back. read more

Holy Moley! This truly was a 5 star Yelp meal. My wife and I stayed in the hotel and the hotel said please consider joining us for brunch. I figured, what can they do to eggs? We're seated in a beautiful restaurant. It's a large glass enclosed space. The visuals both inside and outside are very nice. Our waiter? Very professional. I ask him about the Corned Beef Hash, is it slop from a can? No sir, the chef chops the Corned Beef into small pieces for the hash. My wife ordered a salmon-egg white omelet. We ask for a multigrain bread that we'll both share as well as coffee. He comes back with our food. My CBH? Man, it was off the chain! Cooked perfectly, this was just a filling meal. My wifes omelet was smokey, with big chunks of salmon. There was a choice of three so she also chose mushroom and spinach. Simple food but the quality and the way each dish was prepared and sent to us was truly a 5 star brunch meal. I highly recommend Cafe Dupont, make time for breakfast if you're staying at the hotel. Decent hotel, terrible service. I stayed here for 5 nights. While this hotel is touted as a 5-star hotel, the facilities and service definitely reduce it down to a barely 4-star establishment. I was initially put in an executive room, which is their 3rd level up room. There is nothing special about this room--with its small size and merely just a bed and bathroom. The shades and phone in my room were broken, but nothing was done about it. When they finally upgraded me to a junior suite, I had to pay $100 extra per night--even though the evening front desk employee said it was complimentary. They also got my reservations mixed up, and my invoices contained multiple errors that took a ridiculous amount of time to resolve. The service is terrible. The hotel is advertised with "Dedicated Guest Relations Team - A dedicated team of professionals who are delighted to assist you in customizing your stay." Be warned: this is FALSE ADVERTISING. It's nearly impossible to reach guest services, housekeeping, or the front desk by phone. And absolutely none of my service requests in the 5 nights were satisfactorily fulfilled. I never received my wine opener, mugs, slippers, housekeeping or teabags promptly or accurately. Every request had to be repeated multiple times and were ultimately either ignored or inaccurate upon arrival--or even worse, required additional payment when arriving at my door after 3 hours. For a five star hotel, there is NO service, and absolutely NOTHING--not even tea bags--are complimentary. Bottom line: it's a decent hotel in a great location with abysmal service and will nickel and dime you for every last thing. read more

A friend's birthday & she wanted to go to this place for a Sat brunch. I booked it through open table & put down a note as birthday celebration. I didn't expect much as some restaurants in DC nowadays don't give out birthday desserts anymore. Surprisingly, a waiter & waitress came out with a candled beautiful dessert right after our meal. To be coy I would say this is one of the better hotels I have stayed at, but to be accurate it is the best. Our room with a view was furnished with everything I needed plus everything I didn't even anticipate I might need. But the staff is what put the Dupont head and shoulders above the rest. A broken cell phone can be a game changer but not for these pros. We dined in for breakfast and the good service continued. Not fancy or pretentious, just good. Can we say ahmazinggggggggggg. Truthfully, I'm not a breakfast fan. I'm really picky about my waffles, fruit and eggs because a lot of people who serve breakfast usually don't do it well. In this case, Cafe Dupont's execution of brunch was superb. My boyfriend and I arrived at 12 and were promptly seated at a booth near the back of the restaurant with a perfect view of outside. We ordered the following: "Make your Mimosas (includes a bottle of champagne and fresh juices), Belgium Waffle with berries, Buttermilk Pancakes, and additional sides of scrambled eggs and bacon. The food was excellent. Literally one of the best breakfasts I've had in my life. The food looked great and tasted even better. The waffle, eggs, pancakes, bacon were all fresh, yummy and needed NO additional seasoning. The mimosa deal was amazing too...instead of buying two glasses for $9/each, we spent $25 for a bottle of champagne and two juices for mixing. It was well worth it! Service was also impeccable...our waiter was attentive and super on point. I looooooveeed the atmosphere here as well. Gorgeous, open natural light radiates throughout...I HAVE to come back in the summer! After tax and 20% tip, we spent $89...but it was so worth it! This is the perfect place for brunch! read more

I first had a bad experience at lunch time when I was seated and no-one waited on me. I was staying at the hotel and had eaten in the Cafe Dupont in previous years and always had a great experience. The waitress was by several times and ignored me though when a couple of other ladies came in, she gave them menus and waited on them I finally gave up and left to go somewhere else. I did go back for dinner-convenience only due to weather and limited mobility at the time. This time I was waited on and the service was very good. I had a burger that was cooked the way I requested and tasted good. For dessert, I had the creme brûlée that was good. In the future, not sure I'd return unless I had to just because of the way I was treated at lunchtime. It doesn't have the ambiance of the previous place though they are remodeling and I hope the new place captures some of the old ambiance and better service. read more

We started with the charcuterie meats $16 and cheese $15 plates and what was a little annoying was the charcuterie meats listed were not what we were brought, it was a completely different array of cured meats so we ended up sending the meat plate back. We also ordered a nitro beer and a bourbon old fashioned which we received fairly quickly. BACON CHEESE BURGER $17 Grilled Akaushi Beef, Boston Bib Lettuce Beef Steak Tomato, Pickled Red Onion, Brioche Bun, Mason Jar Pickles The beef was very juicy and the burger had great flavor and texture, best part is the brioche bun. It was accompanied by crispy French fries in a little basket. DUCK $30 Pan-Seared Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast, Chickpeas, Baby Bok Choy, Rhubarb Chutney I ordered the duck medium rare which was perfectly cooked, I would've like to have had more of the fat rendered so as a result I really couldn't eat the skin. The chickpeas were pureed and then fried I believe. The texture was interesting since it tasted like fried hummus as the only way I could describe it. The rhubarb chutney was too sweet for my taste but I enjoyed the baby bok choy as a great accompaniment to the duck. BABY CARROTS $5 I ordered this side item and they were perfectly tender baby carrots, just a little too much butter for me but other than that I really enjoyed them. HOMEMADE SORBETS & ICE CREAMS $9 We opted for an assortment of ice creams: vanilla bean, strawberry, espresso and chocolate. Our server seemed to be overwhelmed with tables and his attention was slightly lacking but I've been here for brunch, drinks and now dinner; so far the service has been very slow all three out of three times. I used a Groupon that took 30% off our bill which brought the total to $94 including tip. read more

Great staff, great location and good rooms. I've been staying here this week with my teenage son to see DC for spring break. The Metro is nearby so one can easily get to all the museums and sights. There are also many restaurants nearby, and a Pembroke, which is connected to the hotel, has fabulous breakfasts. The most impressive aspect of the hotel has actually been the housekeeping staff. We don't have a suite or the most expensive room by any means, but their attention to detail and thoughtfulness have made us feel very special during our stay. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others as well. read more

We had the most relaxing and wonderful stay at The Dupont Circle Hotel. We even brought along our 18 year long haired dachshund as this wonderful place is pet friendly. The bed was more comfortable then my bed at home. They had a doggy bed awaiting my fur baby Willy. They had biscuits for him and a dog food and water dish. It is centrally located on Dupont Circle and the staff of the hotel is super friendly. We had cocktails with old friends at the restaurant and they treated us like family. I was headed to the Tabard Inn for breakfast one morning and happened to notice on my Yelp App that I had already missed b-fast there and they were closed until lunch time. So I needed a back-up plan. At the time, I was walking by the Dupont Cafe and noticed they were still serving breakfast. So I ducked in and got a table. The service was only so-so. After being seated, I waited awhile before my server came to take my drink order and it took equally as long before I saw him again. He seemed to be very disinterested and not overly helpful. My breakfast was fairly good, but a little on pricey side for a pretty basic dish. I ordered scrambled eggs that came with a hash-brown potato concoction and chicken sausage. I am pretty sure the menu said 2 eggs, but they were ginormous eggs. I am not sure this would be my first choice next time I am in the area, but it is a good option if you are nearby and are looking for a place with a full breakfast menu. It is a great spot for people watching while enjoying your meal. read more

They have a creative cocktail menu They mull their own juices. It is entertaining to watch them work. We typically always sit at the bar. The servers are incredible. All aim to please and really work the crowd. It is also nice to sit outside and people watch. The menu is rather small, however quite tasty. Presentation is beautiful and I have been completely happy with everything I have ordered. The superfood salad, tuna taco's, seared scallops, burger, dupont fries, just to name a few are spot on. They offer breakfast which is delicious. If we do not stay at the hotel during a trip we still visit the cafe multiple times. read more

We stayed at The Dupont Circle Hotel for one night last week. It was excellent in every respect. The room was clean and very attractive, the staff was attentive, helpful and friendly in every instance, and the breakfast room at the hotel served delicious food. I remarked to my husband that it's rare that I actually like a hotel -- mostly it's just a place to lay my head at night. But I really, really liked this hotel and will stay there again when in DC. read more

The restaurant is located in a hotel and many of the patrons are hotel guests. We heard it was a good place to eat and tried it out. Although it offers indoor and outdoor dining, the hostess seated us outside without asking our preference. Fortunately the outdoor area was along a relatively quiet street in Dupont Circle so we were not bothered by street noise - but it would have been nice if we were given a choice. The meal was very ordinary. I didn't find anything exceptional. The server was very attentive but she never cracked a smile. And although we dined during what should have been a busy time the restaurant was almost empty which immediately conveyed a negative feeling. I'm not a diner who prefers "private dining." I can say I found our dining experience was satisfactory but nothing about it led me to want to return again. We went, we dined, we were satisfied and that's all. read more

We came here for our anniversary and loved it! I would change a few things... (like a door to the bathroom & a fan in the bathroom). But we esp loved the doorman. Think his name was Frank. He worked Saturday night. He was such a delight! We also enjoyed the lounge & drinks. Spent hours drinking & laughing. Would highly recommend coming back. A friend and I come to Cafe Dupont for semi-regular breakfasts and we love it. The menu isn't particularly extensive but it doesn't need to be, because the staples are consistently solid. I usually get the avocado on toast (sorry not sorry Tim Gurner), which is substantial and filling even without the optional egg add-on. Occasionally I'll mix it up with the yogurt and granola, which also does the job well. This sounds weird, but the highlight for me is the coffee, which is brewed to perfection every time, and I never find the bottom of my cup before it's refilled--a refreshing change in a city overflowing with mediocrity on this front. The ambiance is open and airy, with three walls of windows that give a nice view of Dupont and keep out the circle's noise. The only thing keeping me from giving Cafe Dupont the full five stars is the semi-inconsistent service time after the initial order. We always get seated and receive our food quickly, but the waiters tend to drop off a bit after that (fortunately the coffee refill staff is ever vigilant). On one occasion, I had to get up to go look for our waiter in order to get the check. Granted, I'm splitting hairs here, but given the otherwise excellent service, this is the one point that could benefit from improvement. read more
