Restaurant is located in a hotel. Restaurant's lobby and ambience is top tier. We didn't have to wait for a long and we were seated right away. It was not that busy. Food tasted good and we enjoyed our food.our server was attentive and he kept checking on us and asking, if we needed anything else. Drinks were really good as well. In general it was a good experience. I will be back next time I go to DC.

Went here for a girls dinner a few months back. The place is dark but beautiful, and right near the lobby of the hotel. They have nice little lounge areas although we had a large table. Everything was pretty meh. Nothing bad but nothing super memorable. We tried a few of the appetizers and most of us thought they were ok. Not super vegetarian friendly especially for the prices. Service was a little too attentive and we had to correct our server with the language used. I won't be back but it wasn't horrible.

Food: Little effort and less flavor Service: Friendly wait staff Atmosphere: modern hotel decor Price: $$$ We went to Ellington Park Bistro during restaurant week. I always thought restaurant week was a way for places to showcase themself to more people. Unfortunately that was not the case. None of the dishes had any flavor or were memorable in a good way. It really felt like they went to the grocery store and picked up ready made dishes and served them. Steak Frites was the only saving grace but that was drenched in fat. Really was hoping for better since it's right around the corner from us.

After 10 years in DC, I've pretty much written off Restaurant Week as a disappointing experience that almost always comes with bad service. We decided to try Ellington Park Bistro anyway, and I am so happy we did, because it was by far the best Restaurant Week experience we've had here, with fantastic service and a great menu! Some of the things we tried: - Crab deviled eggs: These were incredible and absolutely jam packed full of the freshest crab. It's a pretty small serving (two halves), but that may have just been for the RW menu. - French onion soup: This was honestly perfect. The perfect amount of onions and cheese and just delicious! - Escargot: This was a really unusual and delicious presentation- the escargot are served on top of gougères, which I had never seen before. - Chicken cordon bleu: This was a much lighter and fresher take on cordon bleu than you'd expect- it wasn't heavy at all, and the cheese and ham felt more like accents to the dish than overwhelming it. It came on top of a lentil and potato mixture that reminded me so much of actual home cooking in France. - Steak frites: These fries are the star of the show- they were skinny, crispy, and perfect. The steak was very good, it had an unusual crust that I couldn't quite place the flavor of. - Chocolate tart: This was an incredible way to end the meal. The bottom was the most delicious layer of salted caramel. This would not have been out of place at a Parisian patisserie! Our server José was so nice and attentive without being overbearing- the meal was perfectly paced so that we could enjoy every course but never felt like we were waiting long. The only thing that could have made our experience better was, for the first hour or so of dinner, it was unbelievably hot in the restaurant- we had to literally roll up our sleeves. Thankfully, it felt like someone turned up the AC after that. Otherwise, we had a lovely night and can't wait to go back to this gem!

I very rarely come on here and leave bad reviews because I am all about positivity and work in the service / hospitality industry all day long so I feel very empathetic to restaurant staff and always give the benefit of the doubt, but in this situation I honestly can't. This was the worst service I have experienced in a very long time. Let's set the scene (this will be a long review so bear with me here) me and my best friend want a cute galentines date together. We are both foodies and Yelp elites- we met working in a restaurant and both love a fine dining experience. This place had been on my list to try so I booked us dinner for 2 at 8. I arrive a few minutes early and am asked to wait for my table, I sit down at the bar. I am not greeted for several minutes. By the time I am served my table is ready so I pay for my drink and go to the table. Neither the Host or Bartender was friendly or welcoming to me at all. Honestly I felt awkward. I will say I loved the ambiance of both sides of the restaurant. Very attractive and good vibes decor wise. Once I was seated a server came by and quickly dropped a menu- didn't even introduce himself or any kind of greeting and ran away. My friend arrived and it took another 10 minutes for him to return for her drink order. I had asked if they had any special cocktails for Valentine's Day and he said he'd ask the bar. This will come back up later... So anyways another 30 minutes go by and we haven't even ordered the first course - finally he comes to take our order and we put it all in. At this point we've been there about 45 minutes and been checked on twice. In the meantime the food runners have attempted to bring us two entrees that we didn't order and also a bottle of wine - we had to say "I'm sorry but we didn't order that" and they walked away looking confused, turns out it was for the table next to us. First corse oysters - 6/10 Second corse Lobster pasta - 5/10 Third corse cream brûlée - 10/10 So finally he comes back and I ask again if they have a specialty drink and he says he'll go ask- 20-30 minutes later he returns with two drinks in hand and says "it's rye and blood orange and spice" and we are like - wait what?! But he runs off before we even have a moment to respond. Neither of us drink brown liquor nor did we order that, I was simply inquiring if there was a special? And If you're going to make a specialty cocktail at least ask what base spirit we want! I felt bad sending the drinks back but it was not what we wanted! At that point a manager came over and we explained the situation and she got us a new cocktail that was more to our taste. At that point we've been sat over an hour and a half and our entree hasn't came, bear in mind couples have came- eaten all 3 courses - and left in the time it's taken for us to get the entree. The food comes and we enjoy it: it didn't blow my mind but it was good, not great. I will say the dessert was great. But by the time we finish it's 10:30 and we are the very last table. After being neglected the whole meal we have to ask a server who isn't even ours to get our bill. This leads to my main complaint. The pricing. I was under the impression prie fixe meant one price for the meal. There was no price listed anywhere on the menu so it was a surprise when we got the bill. My lobster dish was $68 - highway robbery: for fun I looked up the cost of a similar dish at ocean prime- $57. And probably way better too!!!! How was my entree $30 more than my friends and it wasn't printed anywhere! Had I known I'd have ordered something different. Secondly there was a $6 charge for "up" on our drinks which to our knowledge as DC bartenders "up" means served in a coupe glass, chilled. Why were we charged for the glassware our drinks came in?! Insanity. We couldn't even complain though because our server disappeared never to be seen or heard from again. No transparency on cost, totally frustrating. I will not be back. I can get a better tasting, higher quality meal with superior service for LESS MONEY! down the street. And I advise you to do the same. After the worst dining experience I've had in a very long time not even the server or manager came by and said thank you for your business, we apologize for our mistakes, nothing. Probably were both hiding because they knew I was upset - rightfully so after the experience we had. Worse customer service than Dave and Busters - and that's saying something!

Love the vibes in this place and the food is great! Service is a little slow. Got the saturday lobster pasta, steak frites, shrimp cocktail, and crème brûlée. Delicious!

I dined here this past Valentines day with my best friend for a Galentine's dinner, and I was not impressed. The restaurant is situated in the middle of the hotel lobby and tables are scattered throughout so immediately upon entering it was confusing. Upon being seated, it took about 15 minutes for a server to come around and take my drink order; and then another 15 minutes for my drink to arrive. As it was Valentine's day there was a prix fixe menu, which I usually like because you get to try a little bit of everything. First off, no prices were added anywhere on the menu, so it being a prix fixe we assumed that there was one base price for the whole tasting menu, which was not the case. Our first course of oysters (with a caviar add on) was delicious but a lot of volume. My friend ended up being charger $30 more for her choice of main course than I was, and the quality was mediocre. My best friend and I are both bartenders and so we love trying new cocktails at different restaurants. We simply inquired if they had any fun Valentine's day specialty cocktails, and without asking us any other questions our server brought us two random drinks he had the bartender concoct. They were both scotch cocktails, and neither my friend or I drink brown liquor so this kind of put us in an uncomfortable position because he had neglected to ask us what base spirit we would like in a cocktail or if there was anything we did/didn't like. The manager did come and check in with us, and upon explaining the situation she immediately recommended a different drink that sounded good to both of us and exchanged them. The quality of everything was very nice here, but the service was just not great. It's very understandable that Valentine's day is a busy day in the service industry but there were multiple tables who were seated after us and also left way before we even got our dessert. Overall, probably wouldn't come back again just for the slow service.

Beautiful place, great atmosphere, the food is highly quality and the service is really thoughtful.

Nice place if you care mostly about atmosphere, but for me, it's not worth a second visit. Seating & Service: I reserved a high-top for two on a Sunday night, and luckily got seated at a private table rather than the communal table. It's unclear to me which reservations are for the communal table. The waitstaff were very polite and attentive. They also didn't rush us out and let us linger, which I appreciate (but this may be because there wasn't a reservation right after us). However, I do wish that they provided more detail about the menu and drinks without having to be prompted. We had to inquire about recommended dishes, suggested wine pairings, and portion sizes ourselves. Food: FYI, the dinner menu generally goes in order of size, with the smaller plates at the top and the larger plates towards the bottom. As expected, prices per dish also increase as you move down the menu. All the menus (including prices) change frequently so don't rely on the menus on the website to guide you. We ordered the Warm Manifest Bread ($9), Miso Caesar Salad ($19), Dry Aged Beef Tartare ($23), and the Escargot ($24) plus one cocktail ($18), a glass of wine ($16), and dessert ($15). For these prices and based on other reviews, I expected every bite to be fantastic, but the portions were very small and the quality and taste were average. The escargot was a little too salty for my taste and was strangely hidden under a puff pastry. I enjoyed the tartare the most, but it only came with three small pieces. I had high expectations, but sadly Maison fell short.

The roasted carrot salad with hazelnut dukkah and garlic toum was one of those dishes that makes you rethink a vegetable entirely. The garlic knots had no business being that good... crispy, layered, almost croissant-like, deeply garlicky in the best way. For pasta we had the pappardelle with spicy roasted pork ragù and fennel breadcrumbs, and the canastra cheese ravioli with wild garlic pesto and brazil nut pangrattato, that stunning deep green dish topped with chive blossoms looked like art and tasted even better. We weren't talking loud, we weren't drinking before and being obnoxious, we just wanted to ask about what some of the drinks were like on a very cool menu of cocktails we haven't tried anywhere else. Upon returning with our drinks, he accidentally spilled a not insignificant amount on my friend sitting across from me, and while we reacted and started handing him extra napkins, he just glanced at him, finished giving out the drinks, and walked away. No "oops", "my bad", "oh let me get you some paper towels", nothing. So at this point, we're all staring at each other like "Did we do something? Do we smell?" Whatever, friend's birthday, we've been talking about this cabin weekend for several years and it's finally happening, let's just vibe. Now another 20 minutes went by and we were getting antsy because we wanted to order our food but it looked like there wasn't a lot of staff, and we didn't want to upset anyone by hurrying them. Another man came over who we thought was going to take our orders. Nope. He starts picking up our menus so I say, "Oh, hey we haven't ordered yet." To which he replies, "OK, but I need the menus." Alright cool, yeah, that makes sense if he needed them for other tables and can leave us with a few to share. Nope. He just took them and placed them back at the host stand. Awkward stares across the table again. Whatever, we had enough, I guess. Tick tock, tick tock. A third guy came over, and when he smiled and asked, "Hi are you all ready to order?" I was like "Oh finally a human being!" Food took another 20-ish minutes while we nursed our drinks and really had no interest in ordering another round (not that anyone asked us). We ate. We chatted. We had an okay time. We were super ready to get out of there. Oh right, the mozz sticks. Le Mont'zarella sticks. They had one order left of four sticks for $18. We were one of the first diners. You can imagine after all the above, that's just a major facepalm emoji. Assessment/Plan: Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God pray for Le Mont Royal to improve their service, now and at the hour of ASAP, because the place has so much potential, and maybe it was just an off night, or the staff just finished arguing with each other in the back so they took it out on us, but dearly beloved Lord it was like we offended nine generations of their ancestry from the moment we walked in. With "a 22% service charge has been added for your convenience," I thought we were getting Punk'd. The always-changing French-Canadian menu is a cool and unique concept, but it's a lot of bark with very little bite. It didn't make the disappointing service worth it. I was already impressed by the weekend happy hour deals. I started with the Aromatic whites wine flight (great pours for $12!!). All 3 wines were delicious and the bartender, Fabio was the best and very engaging throughout my time at the bar. I had the beef tartare and it was the best I've ever had! I then ordered a glass of the Domain du Somail Red Blend paired with the steak frites, which was the best pairing. I was stuffed but decided to get the crème brulee, which you could never go wrong with. It was the best CB I've had in a while. I will definitely be back for restaurant week or just an impromptu happy hour.

We came here with a few friends for an early dinner, making reservations in advance. Once seated, we decided to order some starters to share: +the Warm Pistachio Crusted Goat Cheese Ball - with honey and red wine caramelized onions +Chicken Liver Mousse - with white wine gelee, apricot, pickled veggies, and an onion marmalade +Baked Camembert de Normandie - with confit garlic, thyme, and honey +and, an Onion Soup for the hubs - prepared with beef broth, croutons, and Gruyere For our entrees, I went for the Steak-Frites, which came with a hanger steak and shallot sauce; you can sub the usual fries with truffle fries, which I recommend! My counterparts enjoyed their Long Island Duck Breakfast (with seared asparagus, cumin carrot puree, cippolini onions, and port sauce), the Maryland Rockfish (with artichoke barigoule, carrots, brasied fennel, and noilly prat sauce), and the Local Roasted Chicken (with English peas, carrots, baby potatoes, and truffle jus). If you want to sop up your sauce with bread, don't forget to order the breadbasket! Staff were friendly and checked-in on our party throughout our dining experience; the place is cozy and vibrant, and seems to be pretty popular. I'd be curious to try their HH on the next visit! +French bistro eats +shareables +friendly staff & service
