I was honestly completely baffled by the high ratings this place received. I've been going to Provincetown since 2008, and this is the least favorite place I've stayed. Was it a disaster? It was not. Would I return? Never. Since the pandemic, P-Town is undergoing a price gouging epidemic to make up for their loss of revenue over a few years. As a result, cheaper Inns, those I never would have considered, are now charging prices that I would have paid a number of years ago for a much nicer place. We were served $40 entrees at a local favorite, on paper plates, with paper napkins, just to give you an idea of what's been going on. There is a place for having a conversation about white gays using Black artists as a way to promote their business, and lend it some artisitic gravitas, but this is probably not that place. While we stayed in the Aretha Franklin room, the only thing having anything to do with Aretha was a grubby photo of her on the wall that was probably procured at some Boston flea market. Things I liked: I liked that you could order breakfast by writing it down and delivering to the Inn, so you don't have to awkwardly eat with strangers when you're barely awake, my least favorite part of staying at these Inns. Kudos to the Brasswood for having a very nice fellow (one of the owners) bring us up a tray with my breakfast every morning, and coffee. Brilliant move. They have a lovely porch out front, and a small lobby, and patio area, out back. In the evenings there is a very sweet man who "bartends" in the lobby, but it wasn't quite the scene you'd hope for. It was a guy wearing a uniform standing around with some bottles, in the midst of vacuuming, with no one else around. An air of exhaustion, and fatigue, permeated every fiber of this place, and I could never put my finger on why exactly. The rooms are old and charmless. Our room was so drab it was getting under my skin. The bed was so hard it almost comical. Like a stone slab. The hair dryer in the room looked like it was a prototype for the first hair dryer ever made. But the bathroom sunk the experience for me. It could barely even hold one person, let alone two, and there was no privacy. Instead of a door and a lock that I've encountered at every motel, hotel, Inn, and AirBnb I've ever stayed, this bathroom comes with a rickety sliding door more akin to an attic closet. I hope, if you're staying here, you are on intimate terms with whoever you are with, as you will hear everything that goes on in there. There is a reason there are no photos of the bathrooms on their website. Our room was not made up one day, and I got serious attitude from whoever was in the "office" when I inquired. There are three owners, I believe? This was one of them. I don't know for sure, because none of them ever made the effort to foster any kind of a community for guests. No one was ever around. It was just quiet. I ran into one of them, one evening while strolling down Commercial street, and he just looked right through me, having no idea I was currently a guest of the Brasswood. Parking was fine, no issues, the breakfasts were solid, but this was just not a match. Highly recommended if you're only staying for one night and need a last minute option, or if you really don't care where you stay. The location, however, towards the West Side, proved key for the majority of our activities, and is possibly the best thing about this place. A friend and I just spent a week here and we could not be happier with our choice. We've stayed at many guest houses in Ptown in the past, and the Brasswood blew them all out of the water. The owners, Brian and Tom, have cultivated a warm and welcoming space where you immediately feel at home. That's in no small part because they, their family members, and small staff are super welcoming while also respecting their guests' space. As far as details go, the rooms are comfortable and clean, as is the inn. All the things you'd expect are there. The included breakfast and complementary parking help make it a complete package. The added house concerts that happen every so often were a cherry on top and helped us make several lovely friends among the other guests. Book here. You won't regret it. Now under new ownership and renamed as the Brasswood (yep, new owners are musicians), the Inn has seen some attractive updates while retaining the fabulous attention to making us feel welcome. For our next PTown visit, we are in the "look-no-further" camp. A few years back, my wife and I made a last minute decision to stay overnight in PTown, and were lucky enough to snag the last room at the White Wind. That was such a great experience that we decided to revisit the (now) Brasswood. The welcome is delightful without being intrusive. The common area, bar and outdoor courtyard have a warm and comforting atmosphere. The location is perfect, right next to the wonderful Joe's Coffee and on a quieter section of Commercial Street. Our room, named after Leonard Bernstein, is (surprisingly) NOT on the West Side, but faces Commercial Street with views across the street to the bay. Tom, Scootter and Brian and staff are to be congratulated for bringing their personal styles to charming us, and always made time for chats. Tom and Brian and Liz and Stuart continue to make this feel like a home away from home, and we can't wait to make plans for next year. I know it is cliche but if I could give them more stars I would. The outstanding team at the Brasswood Inn made our stay this past weekend one of the best of my life. They are so welcoming and friendly and the inn is gorgeous. Breakfast was delicious especially the freshly baked scones! Brian and Tom are truly the most wonderful of hosts. They are kind, friendly, and make you feel right at home from the very start- genuine people at their core! Cannot say enough great things about this place. My husband and I went for our anniversary because I love P-Town in the winter. The room was gorgeous, amenities were great, and the inn is centrally located and almost everything in walking distance was open. Tom and Brian were amazing and Clint and Liz greet us warmly when we checked in and gave us some great restaurant recommendations. I spent a long weekend at the Brasswood Inn's Parton Room in June and would absolutely book again. The Inn is centrally located along the main commercial street and has great access to local restaurants, cafes and bars. The staff is lovely and we're perfectly communicative before and during my stay. Arrived on a weekend when most places had NO Vacancy. Another Inn (full) suggested this place as he heard they had a cancellation. We ventured in and Jeffrey met us - and had a room for us. It was a great positive surprise - I mean, right on COMMERCIAL STREET where all the activity happens. A very close walk to the Dance clubs & bars, and shopping all over the place. Even a bit of a water view from the front porch. The price incl. morning breaking breakfast - an upscale Continental with a lot of variety. And the Saturday "cocktail party" was a frickin' HOOT. Oh, and BTW - FULL (free) BAR from 4-7 pm !!! And Jeffrey trumped out various hors d'oeuvres as the 20 guests danced and drank from the front porch, complete with a mini-drag event that literally stopped traffic. We were the HIT of the town. This was a glorious afternoon. Like 99% of the B&B Inns, this was an older house. So thin walls, narrow and lots of steps to the upper floor. If we have any complaints at all, the bathroom door was a hinged door with no handle on the inside - so it was hard if at all possible to pull the door closed when sitting down on the toilet. (simple fix guys!) And lastly, the TV sucked. It is basically un-viewable because you can't adjust the brightness. Yea, we weren't there to watch TV, but still, if you provide one, would be nice if it worked. The bed was comfortable, the room clean, albeit bathroom & shower typically small for these older places. All of the guests were wonderful people to meet & socialize with; and some very campy. Oh, and the place is mixed - both Men & Women. This place fills fast every year - we were fortunate of the cancellation. So make your reservations a year in advance ! We had an amazing stay at this charming, perfectly located, historic bed & breakfast. Tom, Brian, Scootter, and the crew helped make our first Ptown trip one to remember. They know all the best spots and give excellent recommendations. The front porch is also a great perch from which to sip a cocktail and take in the scene along Commercial Street. On top of everything, their breakfast choices were plentiful--even offering safe gluten-free options for a traveler with Celiac. You know what? I am having a hard time writing this one.. and words do not usually escape me. The guys here are so friendly, welcoming, and downright nice, but I'm just not sure they can overcome what was not pleasant. We, too, stayed in the Admiral room for a romantic weekend, which was funky! The BF did all the work on this one, and he did a great job:) But in the dead of winter, the old windows rattle and it is so drafty! And then, coldest weekend of the year.. the oil furnace froze up. Kid you not. No heat and no hot water (no shower!) -- and no down comforter! Just a hotel-style polyester-filled thing. Brr! How can that be? Thankfully I had a built in heater under the (thin!) covers with me, but what if one were (yawn!) sleeping alone?! It was literally, no exaggeration, 50 degrees Fahrenheit in the room when we got up the next day. Maybe colder, actually, since that's as cold as the thermostat went. The continental breakfast was adequate -- your average wimpy but good and hot coffee, oj, hardboiled eggs and pastry varieties. Fortunately, there was a fireplace with one of those just-light-the-wrapper logs in it.. whew! The Inn is right in the middle of town, so convenient to everything! I would definitely try it again in the summer time.. we really did like the guys who worked there, and I bet the porch rocks, but I might also check out the competition. It's nice to have funky options in the winter, but I would love to see them winterize and throw down some comforters. read more

My partner and I had a great 8-night stay at White Wind in September. Highlights included a wood-burning fireplace in the room (the Admiral), extremely friendly and helpful staff, and the front porch that provides the perfect place to hang out and watch the parades on Commercial Street. Michael, one of the owners, is quick to offer help with anything you need and on a few mornings even offered to cook us breakfast (beyond the typical continental breakfast items that are out every morning). The whole place has wireless, which is a big plus so you can be on your laptop in the dining room or even on the front porch. My only criticism would be that the coffee needed an upgrade -- kind of weak and cheap-tasting. Otherwise I'd highly recommend White Wind to anyone coming to Ptown for the first time or for veterans simply looking to try out a new place. read more
