Well , thanks for giving me a migraine from low blood sugar waiting on your delivery THAT U CANCELED 40 MINUTES LATER!!! I ordered through DoorDash I was waiting for my delivery for about 40 minutes. The first Dasher showed up and for some reason they canceled and left and I had to wait for another. Dasher this happened three times and then the company canceled the whole order after that they must've never been working on the order to begin with almost an hour of my time wasted, and I still have to wait for more food to be delivered at the point of me having a migraine now I hate companies like this if you're not gonna be able to handle making food for people on delivery do not offer delivery service get off of DoorDash.!!! I found this place on google and was excited I checked it out. This is a kitchen only where you order for take out only. There is no seating area. Before going to Universal I stoped by and ordered the suya, vegetable stew, and peppered goat. This was some delicious suya and loved the sauce that came with it. So delicious. The vegetable was good although I would've elicited spinach being mixed with egu leaves but it wasn't bad nonetheless. We were on our way to Long Beach from Northern California. The Peppered Goat was off the 405. I've been having my eye on this location for a few months, so I was glad to get the opportunity to stop by. I love pot pies so that's was my main reason for going. One thing that wish I realized before I got there: this is a virtual kitchen. You either: preorder and pick up from that location, or use a delivery app to bring to you. Since we didn't realize this until we got there, we ordered and waited in the lobby. There is no inside eating space, only outside in the parking lot. Our food came within 30 minutes. I got a chicken pot pie. It was smaller than I expected but absolutely delicious. The crust. Dear Lord. And the filling was so tasty. I'm a light eater so it was enough but if we were not on a tight schedule, I would've ordered another. My husband got the Jamaican beef patty and Jamaican curry chicken patty. I wanted so much to give this 5 stars. I got the fufu stewed chicken and plantains. The plantains looked nothing like the picture they were dry and overcooked to the point of tasting like they had been cooked for days and just given to me. They tasted like old bread, at least my dogs liked them. The chicken was ok and fell off the bone but the portion size for the price and the lack of sauce was not worth the price. Especially when feeding myself and 3 kids, I could fit the container in the palm of my hand. I have had some great fufu and this was bland had absolutely no flavor. Damn this was good! The goat stew with the rice and plantains, to die for. The goat soup with pounded yam was definitely interesting. First of all, it was thick like a hummus. I didn't know soup could be that thick. Also, it was fishy. Nevertheless, we nearly finished it. The catfish soup however, I think it might be for people who really know it. All I tasted was spicy. First time trying the place and I picked it up! Still was hot loved that. I got the Egusi and the pounded yam. Now for a place that is known for its spices I felt like it was lacking in the soup. Oh baby finally! A correct Nigerian restaurant with correct tasting dishes!!! I went to get suya for somebody son and decided to get jollof rice too as skeptical as I was because since Toto scarred me for life but I can say this was delicious!!! They got it right especially the smoky taste in the jollof, the suya was 6/10 not as spicy as I like but manageable. One order is not enough for one hungry Nigerian person ohhh so just get 2. Today was our second time getting takeout at the Peppered Goat after making a trip downtown to restock on bulk Nigerian pantry ingredients for our kitchen at home. It is difficult and expensive to source ingredients (even in bulk) for various African cuisines here in the San Fernando Valley. Online prices are very expensive as well. I can understand portion sizes being a bit more conservative over other international restaurants' cuisines where ingredients are easily and inexpensively sourced. The swallow lunch combo of egusi soup with eba was deliciously flavored. Eba texture was even and well mixed. We also ordered the oxtail plate with jollof rice and fried plantain. The oxtail was soft and tender, fried plantains were nicely ripe and sweet, and jollof rice was beautifully seasoned and gently heat-spiced for the American palate. We are so happy just to have a takeout place for Nigerian dishes in the SFV, that we just let go of the rest. Would definitely get takeout here again. Chef really cares about the quality of the dishes. Expect to wait 25 minutes for your order to be ready. Be proactive when you arrive and locate the kitchen to place your order. Only a couple seats in the main waiting area for all the small kitchen businesses, so prepare to relax in your car. If paying in cash, bring small denominations because there might not be enough change to break twenty-dollar bills. If eating there, the few tables and seats available are located in the parking lot behind the building (no shade). Call ahead to ensure your desired takeout is available for that day. read more

They've done it again! I ordered the usual - jollof rice, plantains and beef stew. My husband also wanted some fufu so I ordered that, egusi stew and suya. When I say this food transported me back to Nigeria, that would be an understatement. The smoke on the jollof rice, the authentic suya spice, and the flavor/heat of the egusi stew. Customer Service:10/10 Food: Spicy! definitely a Nigerian meal, "we" are known to love pepper. I'm not a fan of pepper as I need to take some tums, but the flavor here is amazing. When food has flavor every thing else don't matter. Solid Authentic flavor. I will never eat Fufu and Jollof rice at the same time, but I did all together and I'm still craving for more food! Hubby put an approval stamp on it too! Wait time: Ok, food is cooked from the scratch and for some reason mine took like 1.5hr maybe he had a lot of orders, but I didn't feel bothered as I was spending the time to know JP more and his love for cooking foods. I went to Stagg street to pick up Nigerian food I had ordered from a different restaurant only to find out they had shut down. I ended up talking to JohnPaul, who happened to be on site, and he told me that he has his own Nigerian restaurant in the same building. He offered to fix me up everything I had ordered from the previous place. It was an hour past their closing time and he opened up his kitchen just for me.. I am so appreciative that he did because the food was delicious. Both the chicken and jollof rice was PACKED with flavor, the plantains were the perfect combo of sweet and savory, and the goat egusi was so good and way more than I anticipated.
