    FINY oysters!

They are handling the pandemic protocols beautifully. The food is great. The staff is just so nice. Please bring back the oysters soon!!

Shrimp cocktail and side of seared tuna: the person who ordered this clearly had no clue what she wanted.

As the only bar/restaurant on Fishers Island, does the Pequot even deserve to be judged and held to normal restaurant standards? It's a Fisher's Island institution, with an almost complete monopoly on the bar/pub scene, and it is highly unlikely that someone would ever just stumble upon this establishment without already knowing what to expect. However, on the off chance that someone thinks it's worth it to pay 55 bucks to bring themselves and a bicycle over on the ferry without knowing about the Island's limited culinary options, I think a short review is merited. Our party of three ordered a cheese burger with french fries, the fish taco, seared tuna, mozzarella sticks, and the shrimp cocktail. THE BURGER: A well-proportioned toasted roll with mayo/lettuce/tomato/onion was able to partly redeem a dry and overdone $11 burger. The small order of fries that accompanied the burger (and cost $3.50 extra) were limp and oozing grease. The MOZZARELLA STICKS were hot and crispy, by far the best part of the meal. SHRIMP COCKTAIL: arrived with 4 cold shrimp and was consumed with little fanfare or enjoyment. FISH TACO: A "tasty" sauce was drizzled over "decent" fish, then wrapped in a cold taco containing shredded/wilted/white iceberg lettuce At the time of this review, i had not solicited opinions on the TUNA. The eastern European summer staff was incredibly friendly, but unclear on the concepts of wasabi and Sriracha sauce. We were originally charged $10 for a virgin Bloody Mary, but upon protest, a friendly bartender brought it down to a reasonable price. Although the meal only merited a single star, I'll add another 2.5 for the college common room ambiance, and tack on a final 1.5 stars for the pickled string bean that accompanied the bloody marry and was described as delicious. You know you have been off the mainland for too long when you feel comfortable doling out 5 stars for a semi-edible $27 meal consisting of a burger with fries, mozz sticks, and a coke.

Full disclosure: I have not yet stayed at the Pequot Inn, but made a reservation a few weeks ago. There was a mix-up with the reservation and cancellation policy, and after one phone call and another email the manager resolved my complaint satisfactorily. I would love to know more about the Pequot Inn, as we still may like to go there. Any other Yelpers able to give it a review?

So yummy and love the glass!

Came to Fisher's Island for a weekend get away.. decided to go out for some dinner and drinks. We sat at the bar and ordered a pizza with the Fisher's Island lemonade. The pizza was delicious and coming from New Haven that is saying a lot! The bartender was great and even let me have the Fisher's Island glass my hard lemonade was served in. We decided to play some pool and had an issue getting our change out of the quarter machine..one of the wait staff came over and gave us her own quarters so we could keep playing while the owner was fixing the machine. All in all ..great food and great experience. Everyone was very nice and we will be back!

The new ordering system is so much more efficient! Food came out faster. The menu is more interesting, but miss some of the traditional.

Surprisingly good food for an Island....it's the only place on this one! Best bone in Chicken dinner I think I've ever had at a restaurant.

In my opinion, the food is great, it's just the price that makes me give the place a four star review.

You literally go to one of the back doors of the Velvet Mill in Stonington and order at the counter (you can order online too). Take it home or bring it into the area inside the mill where there are numerous tables and a water supply. After you eat you can stroll around the mill and check out the stores. It was founded by culinary couple Johan Jensen and Abbey Hemmann. Johan is a native of Denmark while Abbey is a Connecticut native. The two met in Cape Cod and eventually got married on White Crest Beach in Wellfleet. In July 2019, the couple opened their first restaurant, Whitecrest Eatery, at the Velvet Mill in Stonington. The historic building was originally home to the American Velvet Company, which operated from 1892 to 1996. Today it is a multipurpose building that is home to a thriving community of small businesses and artist studios. The American bistro with a weekly-changing menu soon won numerous awards and accolades. By 2024, the couple opened a new restaurant in the Velvet Mill. This time they would focus on artisanal wood-fired sourdough pizza as well as sandwiches, salads, and other delicious treats. Named for the "back door" of the Velvet Mill, the pizzeria soon won its own accolades. My sons and I recently had lunch at Back Door. I've visited the Velvet Mill numerous times, but this was my first visit since Back Door opened. After looking of the menu, we all decided to order and share the "Margherita" (fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato sauce, EVOO) and the "CBR" (house ranch, bacon, chicken, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, everything spice, lemon, dill). After ordering, we picked a table right by the pick-up window so we could watch the kitchen crew at work. Both pizzas had great crust that was crispy on the outside and yet chewy on the inside. The fresh ingredients gave the pies some rich flavors with a nice smoky finish. I really liked the "Margherita", but it was the topping combo on the "CBR" that left me really impressed. I washed everything down with a bottle of locally-produced Hosmer Mountain Birch Beer. We were all very happy with our lunch. Before leaving, my younger son had a delicious "Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie". He was nice enough to offer me and my older son a bite. We were impressed with Back Door and hope to return in the future!
