I've been hearing creepy noises in the walls of my bedroom. It sounds like gnawing or groaning or creaking, but very repetitive and only in the same area of the house - for months now. First I had another service come out and charged $500 to set rat bait stations all around the house - didn't catch any rats inside but I think we fed a whole bunch of neighborhood rats. Sorry for them they ate poison. Still the noises.  I called TCPM and Angel (who is appropriately named), came out and looked and listened but felt certain it wasn't any kind of critter. They easily could've charged a lot of money to set more traps and do an expensive exclusion/rodent proofing and I likely would be having the same problem. I had Total Control Pest Management come out to do an initial inspection. I told them I wanted to start bi-monthly service and set up our first appointment. I told the office that I have a young baby and another young child who both need naps. I was given a window between 10:30-12. I scheduled my whole day around this appointment. The technician never showed or called. I called the office twice and left a message without any call back or answer. This company apparently has a total disregard of people's time. I readjusted my children's nap schedule and my schedule to accommodate this service, and now I am left very inconvenienced. I will now be starting my pest control service search all over again. Angel was our assigned technician when I called about a possible rat/mouse problem in our home. From start to finish he was everything you'd want in a professional - communicative, on-time, polite, and of course knowledgeable. I contacted Total Control after seeing the good Reviews here on Yelp. I'm surprised by how unprofessional the consultation was and I'll Never do business with them. I scheduled for an inspection after one of my employees thought he saw a cockroach in our office's kitchen. I called 2 hours before the appointment and asked Total to tell to their technician that I wanted him to be discreet - I didn't want to unnecessarily upset my entire office about cockroaches before we're even sure there's a problem. The person on the phone assured me that he would contact their worker and that they never discuss treatment with anyone but management. Well, as soon as he walked into our office he announced loudly that he's here about the cockroaches! If that wasn't enough, it actually got worse. He barely glanced around the kitchen, said that he -thinks- he saw signs of them and tried to schedule a fumigation treatment followed by another one 2 weeks later and a quarterly treatment contract. I asked him about alternative methods like Diatomaceous Earth, bait and traps as an alternative and he gave me nonsensical reasons why those are not an option. I'm not against spraying, but he clearly was Not knowledgable about pest control and couldn't answer my questions. On top of everything, he had to step outside to take a personal phone call during the consultation (which only lasted about ten minutes so I'm not sure why the phone call couldn't wait until after that), he only had one business card left that he could give me and it had writing all over it that he'd scribbled out. I guess it's also too much to ask that their employees wear a clean shirt when meeting with first-time customers. I thought for a minute that I was being Punked. So unprofessional. read more

Very professional! I'm bad with names, but a very nice gentleman came out and helped us with our ant problems. They came in a timely manner. They came on time. He sprayed for ants and let me know that he would need to come back to finish the job. We signed up for an annual contract to save a little money on the service. Initial Services are $225 and with the annual contract it was $175 for quarterly visits. But to save a little money I used Yelp deal that gave me $50 for $25 read more

The promised that they could get rid of the problem . After the first week they caught the first gopher and by the next week they caught the mate and that was the end of my problem with gophers. Since we moved in pretty recently, we were shocked to see these little black pellet things appear in our house. We weren't sure of what it was, and decided to get a professional's opinion on what exactly was going on in our home. When I contacted several pest control agencies, Total Control was among the first businesses to contact me back and to make a free investigation appointment. When the time came around, Jose came by our house and quickly got to work. I showed him the crime scene and after looking both there and around the house, he was able to figure out exactly what was in our house- we had mice possibly coming from a hole in the wall under our sink!! After explaining everything such as how mice can get in, what their behavior for savaging was like, and how they could quickly reproduce, Jose told me exactly what he was going to do. Jose set up the traps around the walls of the house, and was happy to explain and answer any questions I came up with. To our surprise, a skunk went running under the crawl space when they lifted up the wooden steps outside our back door. They don't handle skunk removal but they also didn't charge us for the visit. Last week I heard movement on the ceiling of one of the rooms in the house. I heard the movement from one end of the room to the other. It sounded like there was some sort of weight to this creature. I took a golf club and started tapping the ceiling to see if I get any knee jerk reactions but whatever it was, it just kept going about its business. I knew it was some sort of rodent and by the sound of it, it didn't sound like a cute little mice named Jerry. I began to call pest control companies and most of them were not able to see me until the end of the week. It was Monday when I called around and most companies wouldn't be able to see me until Friday. For me, it wasn't a big deal but my wife was scared to death as to what might be up there and wanted it removed ASAP. When I called Total Control Pest, I spoke with Juan. He was very nice on the phone and told me that he was actually in my area and would be able to drop by in 15 mins. Wow! Talk about good timing! So within 15 mins, Juan and Alfredo arrive and I had a good vibe from them from the beginning. They were very professional and careful moving around the house. They put covers at the end of the top part of the ladder so that they don't scuff the wall. Details like that I notice. Sure enough Juan discovered a big rat hanging out up there. He takes pictures right away with his phone and shows me. I went up there with him to take a peak where it was coming from. Juan was like a predator stalking its prey ready to pounce. Basically, Juan really wanted to get this critter while the trail was hot. He said that if he sets traps now, it'll be caught within minutes. Juan gave me the cost of the job which included 3 follow up visits and I didn't hesitate on the price. I was pretty much sold on his service from the impression I got from showing up within minutes of my initial phone call. The price just sealed the deal. So Juan set up the traps and told me if the traps go off before Friday to call him and he'll be here next day. I didn't hear the trap go off but he did show up today on his follow up visit. Sure enough the trap did catch the big boy and so the party upstairs ends. I appreciate how Juan and Alfredo were respectful and helpful throughout the whole process. I can tell they've been doing this for a long time and they really care about the work they do. We live out in La Mesa and there's lots of critters out there that can be unpleasant...very unpleasant (think vermin). Scratch, scratch, scratch. A couple months ago I heard rats in my attic scratching up a storm night after night. The pest control company that my Home Owner's Association contracts with (I won't directly call them out, but they're named after a local mountain that has a big cross on it) came out multiple times but didn't seem to do a thorough job and was unsuccessful at remedying the problem, so I decided to take matters into my own hands and just hire my own exterminator. I called Total Control Pest Control after reading other positive reviews on Yelp and was not let down. They were very professional and came out the same day to do an inspection. Even though the HOA's exterminator company couldn't seem to pinpoint any problem, Total Control did an extensive inspection of my attic and immediately found where the issues were. Within the first week, a couple big rats were caught, and over the course of the trapping period they caught more. Total Control did exclusion work to make sure the problem doesn't occur again, though they informed me to call them to let the know if I should hear anything else so they can come back out and see what else needs to be done. What I was most impressed with was the manner in which the company's representatives approached their work. Juan and Alfredo were the exterminators that came out to my home, and they were friendly, informative, and punctual. I felt comfortable letting them into my home and trusted them to get the job done right. Should I have any pest problems in the future, it will be Total Control that I call to take care of things. Their prices are reasonable, they demonstrate professionalism, and they seem to actually care about their clients.
