    Asai

I brought my fur son to the vet for his shots and overall heart and they told me that he was fine only that he had a innocent heart murmur that he'd grow out of it, a few days later I brought him back for an X ray on his little paw because he had been limping due to a fractured bone, they didn't even give him a splint. They gave him meloxicam in stead that same day. We got home and Asai began breathing extremely hard almost as if he was hyperventilating but they told me that everything was fine. Subsequently Asai Passed away a few days after. I am hurt behind this one because he was my first official baby

I have been taking my two babies, Sadie (a dog) and Emmy (a cat) here for 2 years. We love the staff and how helpful and kind they all are. Sadie has come down with a few tummy bugs and Dr Washington and her staff always take such good care of her. The cat doctor was also so relaxed and put my cutie at ease. I recommend the pet hospitals downtown to every person I meet. I have heard from friends that their day care and grooming is wonderful as well! Thank you Pet Hospitals Downtown

Our regular vet was not open on Saturday. I called several vets before I found Pet Hospitals on Jefferson on iPhone maps. A real person answered BEFORE opening hours. She was very nice and helpful. My dog was having hard time breathing and didn't sleep the night before. (He had Cushing's) We decided to end his suffering and Dr. Washington confirmed that we made the right decision because he was in a heart failure process. We were very impressed by the work of the staff. Very thoughtful, professional, caring. Thank you.

Casey Lee was seen today. First I can't say enough goodness about getting a last minute appointment. When we get to the visit we are taken directly to a room. I love these people. Very caring attitude toward me and Casey. Thank you for being so kind and generous with your time.

I just adopted the very first pet in my life and he was a two-month-old kitten. The shelter told me my baby was too young to have all the vaccinations done. And the due date of one of the vaccines was the next week from the time I took him home. It was so panicky to me at the beginning that I have to find a Vet to get all those things I was unfamiliar with to be done shortly. But fortunately, my co-worker recommended The Pet Hospitals-Downtown location to me. When I made an appointment, the staff told me they have a special program for pets adopted from shelters and rescue groups and I could get a complete vaccine series and physical exam for my kitten at no charge. The experience of my first visit was decent and pleasant. All of the staff and Dr. Washington were very nice and professional. They patiently answered a lot of stupid questions that I was worried about. And I could feel they really love animals and welcome all the pets and their family to their clinic. They even prepared very adorable deco and the name card on the door. Oh, my heart was melting. Definitely highly recommended!

Klaus's first time at The Pet Hospitals Downtown with Dr. Washington! He was so happy!

Our puppy, Klaus, absolutely LOVED this place (downtown, on Jefferson Ave.). It was his first ever visit to the vet, and it went swimmingly. First of all, the facility was very modern and clean, and it did not look or feel like a vet´s office. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and Dr. Washington was phenomenal. We could not have asked for a more perfect visit. Klaus will always return here for anything he needs, and we will bring any and all future siblings as well! Do not go ANYWHERE else! Perfection!

I can't thank the staff at The Pet Hospital Downtown location enough! We were dog sitting "Suzie" for a friend. We noticed she needed some medical attention for continuous scratching, discomfort, and anal sac emptying. The Pet Hospital gave us an appointment right away and handled Miss Suzie with professionalism and compassion. I was a nervous wreck, since she wasn't our dog and I didn't know her that well myself. The vet and tech handled me with equal professionalism and compassion! They followed up with a phone call and email. Suzie is back home. And most importantly, got a work-up and is getting the follow-up care recommended by The Pet Hospital. Thank you!

Pleasant clinic area and exam rooms with warm tones and faux wood flooring. Much nicer than a sterile hospital feel.

After a scare in which my cat was lost and found in the space of 24 hours, I brought him here to make sure everything was OK and update his vaccinations. This clinic is so clean and pleasant, with warm wall tones and faux wood floors that make you forget you're in a clinic. All the staff were so wonderful and understanding, and Dr. Courtney was very professional. We will be back for annual exams for sure. Tips!: Check out their coupons on their website online before you go! They have one for first time clients for free exam which I used. For flea and tick meds, they let me price match with their prices, so I showed them the price of advantage for cats online and they matched it.

the TRuTH if you board dog here will come home attackedliteral WILL NOT INFORM you have incompetent people that DO NOT watch the dogs

Your dog will come back bloody and scratches head to toe abs they will hide it from you and make excuses do not take your dog here they keep deleting my review to hide their incompetence. The male owner is the biggest arrogant POS and will try to claim "communication error" instead of owning up to mutalating and neglecting my animal of care

Do you offer van service? I have to be at the hospital for work earlier than your daycare drop off times but would love for my dog to go here!

Unfortunately we do not offer van service at this time.

I've been taking pets to Walnut Grove since the early'90s, and have been very happy with the…read moreservice they provide. There are definitely vets I prefer, but they are all good. I've had MANY dogs and cats treated, as I fostered for years, so I can definitely speak to their quality. One of the things that touches me is that the staff & vets always remembers my various pets, and it often feels like Norm at Cheers when we're there. They genuinely act excited & happy to see my four legged companions! Six years ago, we dealt with the trauma of having my 7 year old soul pup diagnosed first with cancer of the spleen (which weighed 10 pounds & was the size of a mini basketball). Dr. Slattery did an amazing job of safely removing it (which would be beyond the skills of many vets). Dexter didn't even need a transfusion! Dr. Slattery suspected extremely aggressive (and deadly) hemangiosarcoma, but Dexter couldn't be treated with chemotherapy because the pathology report was inconclusive. It was SO traumatic! Dr. Slattery saved the day (again) by coming up with a treatment protocol that helped Dex survive for another precious 18 months. (This diagnosis generally either is found when the dog drops dead or has a maximum survival of 6 weeks.) He referred me to an acupuncturist & Chinese herbalist, told me about to find a beneficial anti-cancer diet, and prescribed medications to help Dexter medically. He was with us every step of the way, and clearly was sad that we couldn't save him. Dex had all the support he needed to continue playing athletic fetch daily and ate very well until the last two days before we had to let him go. Now Dexter was VERY tough, smart, & determined to stay with our family as long as he possibly could as he was the heart of it, so YMMV. Dr. Slattery tried a Hail Mary exploratory surgery on his last day, and said Dexter had cancer everywhere & he had never seen so much in any dog. He didn't know how Dex had still been playing enthusiastically & eating well the day before. I think it was definitely a credit to Dr. Slattery's efforts that Dexter survived so long. The prices at the clinic have definitely increased significantly since Dr. Halford's son took over practice management. Maybe he doesn't appreciate how expensive it is to take good care of your beloved animal companions? I have definitely sacrificed things I personally needed in order to pay for vet care for my precious cats & big dogs at this clinic. In their defense, though, I haven't found any inexpensive vets & I don't want the ones who finished at the bottom of their classes, so I think you get what you pay for in most cases. I do wish they'd moderate the prices of office visits & nail trims, though. Conclusion (if anyone reads this far!): I strongly recommend Walnut Grove as your vet. They truly care & have taken excellent care of over 40 pets of mine (foster & permanent family members). They do very well with both cats & dogs.

My dog was misdiagnosed and we were charged 325.00 for a sick exam (no labs & no X-rays) and 4…read moremeds, 2 of the meds were not needed nor indicated for the actual issue and somehow my pup was given a B12 shot, but it was never mentioned, we just saw it on the bill. This place used to be good but has steadily gone downhill.
