To be clear I was not insisting on it, I was just asking and the person on the phone started, literally, yelling at me about how they needed to get paid. I tried to explain that they had already patched the tire twice, the last time a week ago, and I was happy to pay for a new puncture but if they did not think I should have to pay if it was not repaired properly and after a lot of back and forth he said fine, and then hung up on me.

Despite that, I was still charged a hefty diagnostic fee just to be told exactly what I had already explained. I was quoted on the phone for $1,200 yet the diagnostic alone was $700 not including actually fixing my condenser! What made the experience even worse was the mechanic's attitude. Instead of being professional, he complained to me about how difficult the diagnosis was, even though the issue had already been identified. He also went on about how difficult customers can be, which was completely inappropriate and unprofessional. As a customer, I don't expect to be vented to or made to feel like I'm part of the problem. I understand that shops have procedures, but charging me for a diagnosis I had already provided, then complaining about the work and about customers, left a very bad impression.
