PLEASE BE AWARE!!!!! I have been a loyal customer of Petstaurant for over three years and have purchased food from multiple locations. Until recently, I trusted that I was feeding my dog a safe, high-quality product. I spend hundreds of dollars a month at this place a month. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has left me deeply concerned. My dog has allergies and can only eat bison and venison. After Petstron was out of bison for approximately two weeks, I purchased 20 containers when it finally became available again. Given the cost of the food and the trust pet owners place in companies like this, I never expected what I found. While preparing the food, I began finding sharp bone fragments throughout the meat. Because my dog is small, I always break apart the food before serving it. As I did, I found one bone, then another, and another. This was not just in one container. I found multiple jagged bone pieces in container after container. Concerned for my dog's safety, I spent so much time inspecting and removing what I could find. Despite my efforts, after eating, my dog began choking. It was one of the most frightening experiences I've had as a pet owner. Thankfully she recovered, but it was clear I may have missed one or two small pieces of bones and it had made its way into her food. What concerns me most is that many pet owners may simply warm the food and serve it without inspecting every bite. Had I done that, the outcome could have been much worse. Our pets are family. We trust companies that prepare fresh food to take the necessary precautions to ensure it is safe. Finding repeated sharp bone fragments in cooked food is not something any pet owner should have to worry about. I am sharing my experience because I believe other pet owners should be aware and inspect their food carefully. I would also be interested to know if anyone else has experienced something similar. I love this pet ... staraunt for my pet. After adopting my cat from a local rescue ... I immediately switched her to Petstaraunt meals. My presumption when I adopted her was that she probably only had dry food. The results of feeding her a healthy fresh diet from Petstaraunt on her coat, weight and temperament was dramatic. I add a rotisserie chicken topper and a bit more taurine - but she really seems like she is thriving. I feed her the Chicken and Wheatgrass formula. The folks that work there are so patient and courteous. The only issues that I have had is that they don't always have my food in stock ... so I need to plan/order ahead. I am truly floored by the gift, talent, and generosity of Marc Ching. He is a gift to animal parents and is so committed to each and everyone one of us. He is an angel doing Gd's work and I am not even religious! You feel it. I went to him because I had many health issues with my dog, including cancer. My dog had been itching herself raw, and BOTH her vets just gave her apoquel. over the course of several months. A friend referred me to Marc Ching, the owner of Petstaurant, who immediately took one look and diagnosed my dog with a yeast infection. He told me to take her off Apoquel, suggested a couple of anti-yeast supplements, and went through every supplement and treat I had been giving her and told me which ones she could have (none, as it turns out, while she was on a yeast-cleasing diet). He suggested yeast-free alternatives, gave me a basic diet to follow, and 8 weeks later she is almost clear, itch-free and a new, happy dog. I am SO IMPRESSED WITH MARC! Just had a second consult with him. She is off her yeast meds, onto a single heart - health supplement to assist her prescription, and is bouncing and loving life again. Let's be clear. Marc doesn't suggest replacing his suggestions with a vet. I still get regular check-ups (my fur baby just was diagnosed with a heart issue) and blood tests. But he knows nutrition inside and out, and can spot things that I certainly can't see. And he knows why one version of a supplement - or a protein - works for your pet where another one might cause issues - such as the way pork is processed. This was the single worst experience I have had as a dog owner and pretty awful in general. This man, Marc, who runs this place claims to care about animals but he is a fraud. He does not care at all about animals and he puts on a big performance, I guess to convince you to spend money at his store. If you want to experience what horrific gaslighting feels like, do go see him. Side note: Sadly I did not discover some terrifying news about this man until today when I began researching other places to go after having such an awful experience. Just google this place and you'll discover the horror picture that is Marc. I had originally contacted Marc telling him I was referred to him to potentially get help finding the right diet for my dogs who have particular dietary needs and health issues. He confidently explained he could help. I met with him and he provided me with a "free consultation" - pretending to pay attention to the information I gave him about my dogs. He devised an entire new food plan for my dogs with his products. He wrote the plan down for me and when over it thoroughly. I purchased everything and followed the plan down to each detail. My dogs seemed to be doing well with the food transition. I went and purchased more food at their store the following week and realized they don't actually keep the food that I was instructed to buy in stock. So I placed a large order and was promised it would be ready in less than a week. I received a text message from them confirming my order. A week goes by and when I contact them to see about my order, it was not only not ready but seemed to no longer exist. I contact Marc about this problem and he proceeds to exhibit a complete lack of memory about the plan he gave for my dogs, does not seem to find it problematic that my order disappeared, makes excuses claiming they have horrible staff, and tries to say all companies have these issues and you can't know for sure what food will be in stock. He then recommends I put my dogs back on the very food I told him I needed to get them off of! He did not even remember our conversation and the clear descriptions I provided of what food they had been eating and why it was not working for them anymore. The entire "plan" he so charmingly provided was a sham that couldn't actually happen because they cannot provide any assurance that you'll be able to get the food you need. After spending two weeks slowly transitioning my dogs to this food it is now Sunday night and I am not only out of food but cannot even continue to feed them what I transitioned them to. I am at a complete loss as to how to proceed with feeding my poor dogs and not making them sick from all the transitioning. And the finishing touch to conclude the nightmare: this Marc - who has a criminal record and was also recently convicted for fraudulent practices at his pet store and animal rescue - gives me this final response to my experience and concerns saying "sorry you'll have to go somewhere else, we cannot help you." read more

This location looks small from the street view but it actually has a lot of space. There's parking on Dickens St. but there's only one parking spot which honestly isn't enough but the other parking spots owned by the other businesses never made a fuss if I evered parked in their parking. Plus, parking can be tough on the street so better to park sooner. There's a lot of options here and the food has vegetables that is healthy for dogs. They have cooked and raw dog meat. Their food doesn't follow the BARF diet or it doesn't seem to have the full BARF diet nutrients in their raw food so if you're looking for raw BARF this isn't it. But their raw dog food does have ingredients that helped my dog when she was sick. They have Lentils that helped my dog recover from diarrhea and sweet potatoes to help her digestion. They also have high quality meat, like rabbit, Cornish hens, venison etc. I like their concept. Only thing I wish they had are bundle and promotion deals. Or even a discount to recycle all those left over food containers back with them. I easly spend $40-$50 a week on my dogs food plus afterwards I have a lot of plastic containers left over to recycle. I just had the worst experience at The PetStaurant in Sherman Oaks. You know, here I am trying to support a local business, so I head to the store - its not easy - its an effort. But one I'd gladly make in effort to support a small business. I walk in... no greeting - that's all right They're just too "busy". One associate was ringing up a customer, another doing something on the computer. So I stand a respectable distance and wait. Naturally, I have no idea what's going on or what went on before I walked in but is it too much to expect one of the two associates to look over at me, say hi, tell me they'll be right with me... give a chin nod or even look my way to acknowledge my presence. I got nothing. Silly me, I stood there and waited... and waited... and waited. Until I came to my senses and walked out. Clearly they do not want or need my business... and obviously, what a mistake for me to walk into a store expecting any sort of good customer experience let alone think I was going to be completely ignored. So basically the worst customer experience ever!!! I could have easily and way more conveniently bought what I needed on Amazon (which I will now) with none of the wait nor the worst customer service ever. Lesson learned. At least for this business. I love my dogs but will not sacrifice self-respect nor expect anything less than basic common human decency - especially if you are working in a customer-based industry. And seriously, during these challenging times, a little kindness goes a very long way. And in my case, a simple hello would have done it. I will never return and will drive out of my way to another part of town before I ever give them a nickel of my business. read more

I am telling everyone I know about this place! Marc and his insight and recommendations for my senior pup with Cushings have absolutely without question added years to her life. Her liver was swollen when I first met with him. He told me he couldn't guarantee the protocol would help but of course it was worth a try-- (I appreciated his honesty!!) I started cooking for her and adding all the recommended supplements and about 5 months later she needed an x-ray for something else and they were shocked to see that her liver had shrunk back to its normal size!! Her bloodwork was also incredibly improved! She still has Cushing's but her symptoms have gone down and most importantly she's happier and more energetic than she had been in such a long time!! I am a veterinarian in southern California. I feel obligated to share my only experience with Mr. Ching. Today I had to go to one of my patients home in order to perform a euthanasia on my patient. Very close to a year ago I had, unfortunately, diagnosed my patient with an advanced degree of lymphoma and offered my clients the choice of treatment by myself or referral to a veterinary oncologist. Unknown to me my patient elected a holistic "treatment" by Mr. Ching. Honestly, I have very little experience with holistic care and its ability to help medical conditions such as my patient had. Marc is a very special person when it comes to animal care, in particular diet. In our family we have seven dogs; most of them rescue; Jack Russell's and a Bouvier. THE BOUVIER - if you have ever owned a Bouvier De Flandres you will understand what it means for a dog to have gas. Yikes can it be bad. We have had 7 bouviers in the last 40 years and just assumed the gas was part of life with a Bouvier. Marc showed us another way and Grace has no gas and a perfect diet. Amazing, that alone is worth 5 stars. Also thanks to Honest Kitchen dog food. OUR JACK RUSSELL'S- for some reason they had some bad skin allergies, really bad.
