The Pharm Restaurant is quite a treat for all truck drivers driving across the country through the small city of Buffalo TX. We stopped by on our way back from Shreveport expecting some standard diner food. Lucky for us, the food was way better than expected and much higher quality as well. My son and I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, while my wife ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken due to the recommendation of our waitress. Unfortunately, they brought out three orders of Chicken Fried Steak. We didn't say anything and accepted the food as it was. The Chicken Fried Steak was humongous and packed with flavor. It was a tad on the salty side and the meat was a little tough. But for a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, it was still better than expected. All of the sides tasted great, including the Mac n cheese, baked potato, coleslaw, fries, and onion rings. I would recommend stopping by here to support them and avoid the fast food chains.

Small little local joint along the way to Dallas. It didn't disappoint with a great lunch special (chicken fried steak) and other yummy choices. Great desserts. Lovely service

Taylor and Amanda are absolutely amazing. I hope i spelled the names correctly. I felt at home when I walked through the door. The live music was great and the food could compare to one of the fanciest restaurants I have ever been to. Thank you so very much!

The Pharm Burger. Comes with fries.

What a great find! I was heading back to Dallas from a conference in Houston, and it was time to eat. I pulled off and opened up Yelp, and this place stood out - and it wasn't far from the highway. When I pulled up, I wasn't sure I had made the right decision. Not the most attractive building or area, but inside was completely different. Extremely friendly staff, nice decor, witty signs, the interior is just fine. I ordered the Pharm Burger, which came with bbq sauce and grilled onions. The burger was tender and seasoned well, and the twisty fries were fantastic. Great service and food, and I would absolutely make a return visit if I'm ever in the area again.

8 oz filet, sweet potato with cinnamon butter and greens! Yum!

Never expected myself to drive two hours for some ribeye steak, but it was worth the experience. We…read morerandomly scrolled on YouTube and watched someone rated this THE BEST in Texas so we had to check it out. What makes this place unique is that they use charcoal, have make their own rub, you can order as many ounces up to 32oz I believe, and they only sell ribeye steaks. The place is called the general store because that's what it used to be when first started doing business in the 1980s but later expanded and converted into a steakhouse. We got there at 4pm and there was a little bit of a line already. The restaurant is only open three days a week each day from 5:30 to 9. On Thursday they have fried catfish and Friday and Saturday they sell only steak. The minimum order starts at 10oz and each ounce increment is a little bit extra charge. We ordered the 24 ounce to be shared between the two of us total is about $70 and we still have some leftover. The charcoal flavor was not overpowering, but the seasoning of the steak was perfectly balanced. Usually, I eat my steak with extra pepper or chimichurri, but this one I was able to eat without any extra seasoning. The surface of the steak look heavily seared but the medium interior was really juicy and succulent. I could taste more char on the edge pieces. After the steak we headed to their second shop next door for some malt shake. I got the cookies n creame flavor, it was milky and not overly sweet like any other milkshakes. And the malt flavor lingers on the tongue after each sip. I was debating to get another one but chocolate flavor but I was too full. Service there overall was very welcoming, and dining area is really big, the interior feels like an old western cabin but very clean and spacious. Great for family gatherings too. They also have a BYOB offer for people who love some good sips along with the smokey steak.

We arrived around 11:30 a.m. and were seated immediately, even as the restaurant quickly filled with the after-church local crowd. Seeing so many locals choosing to eat here made us feel like we'd found the right place. Our server, Trish, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, and checked on us just the right amount--always available without ever making us feel rushed. Our family of seven ordered a variety of meals and everything was a hit. The catfish basket special was a favorite with my parents. My grilled pork chop was cooked perfectly and came with a baked potato and delicious grilled squash and broccoli. My husband enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich with onion rings, our daughter loved the kids' sirloin with mac and cheese, and our youngest happily devoured his chicken tenders, mac and cheese, and fresh fruit. What stood out most wasn't just the food--it was the overall experience. Great service, generous portions, a welcoming atmosphere, and a dining room full of locals all combined to make this a memorable meal. If we're ever back in Palestine, Home Grill Steakhouse will absolutely be on our list for another visit.

Determined to…read morefinally try something new - and to not hit up the usual Buc-ee's or Woody's and the like - we stopped at Sam's last Friday. And I'm glad we did! If you're seeking something quick, gourmet, trendy, or unique, Sam's is NOT it. But if you have time to sit down at a classic Texas comfort food joint and enjoy a buffet with items such as southern fried chicken, fried catfish, brisket w. BBQ sauce, fried okra, corn, mashed potatoes, and a whole lot more, then Sam's is worth checking out. They also have an ala carte menu of southern classics. Oh, and if you opt to do the buffet as I did, you can help yourself to a few different freshly made warm desserts or ice cream, and at no extra charge. $19.99 was more than fair for buffet and that's more than fair for what you get. There is also a fruit and salad bar which I didn't partake from and I couldn't even try all the hot food. Oh well...there will be a next time!

First, the service was excellent, I believe our server was named Presley. Very kind, always checking on us and keeping our water and tea full. On the buffet, my dad enjoyed the salad he had, but was surprised at the little variety offered that day. He said last time he was there with my brother there was more to choose from. He then got the fried chicken, which was greasy and barely any chicken on the thigh. I tried to find a drumstick but it was just breasts, thighs and a few wings. He did like the chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes. As for the fried okra, you have to eat it fresh. It is sitting under a heat lamp just makes it soggy and slimy. I ordered 4 vegetables a la carte which came out to be as much as the all you can eat buffet. First, their onion rings are OUTSTANDING! So is their homemade ranch. What was disappointing was the green beans, they definitely came out of a can and were heated. At $3.99 I expected fresh. There may have been a small piece of onion in it. Not sure if that was how it was cooked or if it fell in from another dish. The black-eyed peas were tasty. I also had a cup of the chicken corn chowder which was good. However, there was pieces of cubed chicken in it which also made me think that it was a prepackaged soup and not homemade. My dad got the coconut cream pie, which tasted good, but could have used more coconut then just on the top. He wanted bread pudding or peach cobbler, however at the time of day we were there, they had been picked over way too much, not leaving much for anyone else to enjoy. I did like the selections in the gift shop and purchased a tea towel before we left. I always like to try a place 3 times so I may stop in and try something else. Again, great customer service.

The proportions were the perfect size, not too little and definitely not overwhelming. Everything was excellent and cooked to perfection. I had the sweet tea and it was wonderful as well. My co worker had the fish plate, she is a connoisseur of fish and said it was wonderful. The booths were a good size and customers are able to write with chalk paint pens to leave their mark. The environment was relaxing and fun at the same time. Although the space is smaller, the speed of service and the wonderful staff made it feel big. Will definitely return when I travel through Teague!

No bottomless chips and salsa and Tejano music and fun vibes and... *sigh* Well, dammit, we'd waited long enough. We were road tripping and craving Mexican. Nothing on Yelp but google reviews were good, so here we go. Wifey looked at the menu online and then I ordered in person, on site. I was the only customer on site when I ordered, and I ain't gonna lie - it sure was tempted to dine in. But we still played it safe and got it to go. The person who took my order was masked up and super nice. Wifey had the chimichanga and loved it. Beans and rice were good. Chips were great. Salsa was a little smoky / roasty and delicious. I got street tacos: 2 barbacoa and 1 chicken. The barbacoa was PERFECT - just right, just what I wanted. The chicken was okay... pretty dry. The chicken is the only reason this wasn't a 5-star review. If we stop through Buffalo again, I'll get 3 barbacoa street tacos and be in heaven. Murals inside were colorful and fun.
