For some reason today I thought that if I just drove in to town I might find a gem. Wow, this place is authentic 'Merica......this place is a great representation of the great country of Texas. I drive to and from Dallas and Houston frequently and rarely stop for an overnight. My long hours this particular week made me face the realities of getting older so I stopped in Buffalo. Boy oh boy, am I ever glad that I did. I ordered the pork chop and green beans [phenomenal]. My server [who was fantastic also] almost sounded apologetic but concerned to explain that the chop had a jalapeno glaze, which I gladly accepted. It was DELICIOUS! Nice thick cut, moist and the hit of jalapeno was perfect. They're not afraid to season the meat which also was perfect for my taste. I was politely using my fork and knife to eat properly, but lost all decorum and picked up the remaining part to chew on the bone and not waste anything! I can't write enough about how great this meal was and maybe getting older is a good enough reason after all to stop here more often. read more

This is a very nice, down-to-earth, comfortable, and attentive place with great food! The owner, Jennifer, is very welcoming and friendly. You can tell she takes a lot of pride and shows a lot of love in her business. We were in town visiting family and ate here two nights in a row. The first night I had a large country fried steak with turnip greens and pinto beans. The steak was crispy, tender, and not greasy. The vegetables had excellent seasonings. For dessert, the peach cobbler with bluebell vanilla ice cream was wonderful! The second night I had the special 16-ounce bone-in filet cooked medium. It was cooked perfect; juicy and so flavorful. The cook came out to make sure it was prepared to my liking, which it was. The loaded mashed potatoes and bacon infused green beans were a perfect complement. Making my way back north from Houston a on business day trip. I stopped to grab some gas (yikes $) and figured I'd pull up trusty ol' yelp to find some grub. Stumbled upon this spot and WOAH! What a surprise! It's hard to find a good steak for a reasonable price (more than reasonable here) these days, look no further. I had a perfectly cooked filet along with a side salad and mashed potatoes. The staff was incredibly warm/welcoming. Everything you'd expect from your local steakhouse in Texas AND some. we discovered The Pharm on a stopover on our way to Galveston, excellent food! I had the small ribeye, fries, and house salad. That was the best steak I've had in a long while, the fries were hand cut, and the salad dressing was homemade. My wife had the small chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, and house salad, all homemade as well. Nothing prepackaged or frozen here! But not here, thick and creamy sauce blankets each and every yummy little noodle. - Fried Okra Side: This is another southern goodie that I have a hard time finding places that do it well. Here it is done well! The breading adheres completely to each piece of okra and the crunch is on point in every bite. - Table bread and cinnamon butter: Ok, the cinnamon butter is good, very sugary and sweet and creamy. But the bread tastes very similar to those sweet white rolls you would buy at the grocery store. All I am saying is, don't fill up your belly with this not so special bread, order the meat, go for the gold! Overall, I will definitely be back. We met some friends here that we had not seen in years. It was perfect! Tammy gave us a warm welcome and did not rush us at all. We ordered fried green tomatoes and the chips and salsa for appetizers (both delicious!), along with the Pharm burger and the cheeseburger, with sweet potato fries. All of the food was served hot and was super flavorful. I am especially grateful to Tammy for her wonderful recommendations and her attentiveness. We were looking for a restaurant for a bite to eat on our way back to Houston from Dallas and was pleasantly surprised at our discovery of The Pharm Restaurant. Before we left the restaurant we had the privilege of meeting its lovely owner who shared that the location was a former local pharmacy and that's how they came to name the restaurant The Pharm Restaurant. Whether you are a local or just passing through you will want to add this to your go to restaurants. We started with the fried green tomatoes. They were hot and fresh and tasted great. We ordered two entrees. My husband ordered a ribeye steak sandwich at the recommendation of one of the other customers. His words over and over were, "This is the best steak sandwich I have ever eaten!" I took a bite and it really was good. I ordered the fried catfish with fried okra and sweet potato. The catfish was fresh and fried to perfection. The sweet potato had a side to go in it that made it taste like Thanksgiving yams it was so good. For dessert we split the blueberry bread pudding which you just have to taste to see. It would be why one really should start with dessert. In addition to this fabulous food their staff were awesome. They appeared to really enjoy their jobs and serving their customers. We were there on Friday night and they had a young man singing and playing an acoustic guitar and it was entertaining. Was driving back to Dallas from Houston, and the wife and I wanted to have dinner. Found The Pharm on Yelp, and boy, what a find! While it has a roadhouse look and feel, once inside, you felt like family. From the friendly greeting once you step inside, to the friendly greeting that you get from the waitress (and you can tell they mean it, not just that they were told to introduce themselves), the place authentically wants to make you feel welcome. The rib eye steaks are VERY generously cut, and they are cooked to perfection (as per your liking). Two sides come with each, and the salad was fresh, the mac & cheese flavorful, the French fries crisp and hot. The onion rings: far better than most places! Just enough breading to coat the rings, not so think that it seems like plaster, fried at the right temperature so they are not greasy, and excellent quality onions! Too bad it is a two-hour drive from Dallas, otherwise, it would be a weekly stop! read more

On our way to East Texas from Austin, we took a chance on this hole in the wall and were so pleasantly surprised! The actual restaurant is a bit dumpy but the food is tasty and good value. The rolls and cinnamon butter were so delicious, we took home the leftovers. We only wish we had ordered more to take with us. I ordered the fried catfish and had low expectation but they might have some of the best fried fish I've ever had. The ocra and green beans were yummy and my husband said his burger was pretty good. The fully loaded mash potatoes were fantastic but the Mac and cheese was just ok.. the chicken fried steak my bf thought was the best he's had but I thought it was again just ok.. not much flavor to it but it was fried well and came with white gravy.
