On our way to East Texas from Austin, we took a chance on this hole in the wall and were so pleasantly surprised! The actual restaurant is a bit dumpy but the food is tasty and good value. The rolls and cinnamon butter were so delicious, we took home the leftovers. We only wish we had ordered more to take with us. I ordered the fried catfish and had low expectation but they might have some of the best fried fish I've ever had. The ocra and green beans were yummy and my husband said his burger was pretty good. Their sausage was ok, but a little dry. Either way, if we ever take 79 again, we will stop here for a meal. read more

Driving through Buffalo and found this place on Yelp! Seems like a lot of locals frequent the place so why not give it a shot?! Cute little restaurant off the highway - definitely a nice country feel when you walk in with a lot of staff to getcha what you need. High hopes once we were seated. They had calf fries, chicken fried steak, fried fish, etc etc. We ordered the fried pickles and you get a ton of it! It was delicious and fried to perfection. Not too salty and every bite was crispy and the batter was good. Couldn't have done it better. My 8oz chicken fried steak was huge! It came with two sides, which I opted for Mac and cheese and the fully loaded mash potatoes. The fully loaded mash potatoes were fantastic but the Mac and cheese was just ok.. the chicken fried steak my bf thought was the best he's had but I thought it was again just ok.. not much flavor to it but it was fried well and came with white gravy. My bf had the ribeye sandwich - he said the bread was good but nothing else stood out. Fresh sweet potato fries. It was ok. Not bad for a random pick on a road trip! read more

I rarely review restaurants but I could not have been more pleased with my experience at the Pharm Restaurant. Simply put the service was wonderful and the food was amazing. My girlfriend had a ribeye steak sandwich which she loved and my Grilled chicken sandwich was outstanding. The sweet potato fries were epic and the desserts looked incredible. The only problem was we were too full from the big lunch portions to order one. You could tell they really care about what they serve and it shows. This was by far the best meal of our weekend trip which included some overpriced fancy restaurants in Dallas. I would highly recommend the Pharm Restaurant to anybody traveling between Houston and Dallas. We would have gone out of our way to stop by on the way back if they were not closed on Sundays. read more

I enjoyed their small chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, ice tea. The service was great and very pleasant. They have really good napkins (thick ones so you don't have to have several). It is reasonably price. I will come back when in the area. read more

My boyfriends parents have some land in Palestine and we stopped by there for dinner one night and when I say this is restaurant is in my top 5 favorite places I have ever gone to, I mean it. The food is phenomenal (literally zero complaints) and the staff is extremely friendly. I had the small (10-12 ounce) ribeye steak and it was delicious. A steak is good when you can cut it with just a fork and completely abandon all of your favorite toppings (onions, mushrooms, Gorgonzola, etc). I found this place on our way from Dallas to Houston. There's very few options and it looked like this was the best non fast-food place we could find in our time range. Our server was very nice and attentive, but the food was just okay. My boyfriend was brave enough to try the calf fries (aka mountain oysters) which he said were fine, but would probably not order again. My fried okra was okay, but definitely not the best I've had. First impression upon entering the Pharm was two fold. It was kind of a dump and it smelled of overcooked deep fryer oil. Overall I'd say the food was OK but not spectacular and the service was likewise. My chicken fried steak was tough and the breading had mostly fallen off when it was served. The mashed potatoes were real and the onion rings were hand made and the best part of the meal. My dessert, blueberry bread pudding was also quite good. I had been wanting to try this place for a while after seeing the write-up in Texas Monthly, but had not had the chance until today. Now I am kicking myself for not going sooner! The food was awesome. I had the Angus steak sandwich with onion rings and it was one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The onions and mushrooms I added made it perfect with s little A-1 steak sauce. Onion rings were homemade and delicious. My wife had the chicken breast sandwich and French fries which were both delicious according to her and I had to concur after stealing a bite of her chicken sandwich. The service was exemplary. Stopped at the Pharm on the way to Dallas--the perfect place to stop for a quick bite if you're on 45 headed north. Service was fast and friendly and the food is good quality. I had the crispy chicken salad with jalapeño ranch. The ranch seemed homemade and was spicy and delicious! The salad was crispy and the vegetables were fresh. Stopped here for a late lunch on our way home from a week in San Antonio. I had the steak sandwich on jalapeño bread(amazing), my son had the chicken fried steak(the smaller portion-there are 2 sizes)he raved about how delicious it was, my husband had the daily special(fried fish/shrimp combo, w/fries)he loved it! Came for lunch on our trip to Galveston. Small town, restaurant is not far off the highway. The Yelp reviews were good so we gave it a shot. It was Fantastic!! I had a grilled chicken sandwich. It had cheese and grilled onions and mushrooms. What made it special was the bun. The jalapeño bun was a Star! My hubs had fish and shrimp. He was pleased with his. It is as good as you are going to get in the middle of no where Texas. We stopped on our drive back home. Not wanting fast food but a sit down meal this is all we could find. It wasn't the fastest service but again why would it be. These people are not in a hurry here. Everything was a tad too salty for my taste. Portion size for what you pay is good. Service was friendly but not fast. Had a TV in the one area and was able to catch up on a little college football. It has a full bar as well. We were on a long drive so didn't part take. I would say lay off the salt or the salted butter you are using to cook and I would give five stars. Beware the onion rings are huge. read more

I meet with friends at this restaurant every couple of months because it is a halfway point between where we live. We have met there several times. We normally get their steaks, because they are tender, juicy, and tasty. Only once a number of months ago was the steak not cooked to our liking, and the waitress took care of the problem immediately by replacing the steak with one cooked to what we wanted. The staff is friendly. This is a nice place to visit for dinner. read more

A little jewel in Buffalo, Tx. I had a taco salad with more ground beef than I could eat and my husband had their Farmers salad loaded with crispy fried chicken. They also brought hot rolls and cinnamon butter when we sat down. Everything was very hot and fresh and the service was efficient and courteous. We will definitely put this on our return list and try one of their delicious sounding steaks. The food is decent and plentiful. Ribeye steak and chicken fried steak are both a little bland. Servers are very friendly and attentive. My only gripe is that the above mentioned meals with unsweetened tea come to around $30 dollars or more, which feels significantly overpriced for the quality. read more

Really well made comfort food. The chicken fried steak was breaded nicely, the gravy a fine balance with the mashed potatoes. I had the sausage with sweet tater on the side. The cinnamon butter made it even better, but it would have been good with just plain butter too. The rolls are a plus and the cobbler CRUSHED it! (I prefer the blackberry over the peach). Two vegetarians traveling through the middle of Texas came in, had a full meal, beer, and left with plenty of food for another meal, for under $30. Our waitress was friendly and happy to help us to come up with veggie options. We had a sandwich with all the veggies on a jalepeno cornbread bun, a nice house salad, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac n cheese, hush puppies, and some shiner bock. The fam stopped here for dinner on our way back home from Houston. You can tell this is a favorite spot for the locals! The menu offers comfort, country-style food.
