I get it. This place is great. This portions are HUGE. I checked the reviews beforehand but I didn't realize how much the pics don't do the serving sizes justice. Seriously, my husband and I are 2 chubby American foodies and we could have shared just my plate. We ordered Steak and Ale Pie, the Sunday Roast (mixed beef and lamb) with Yorkshire Pudding, and Sticky Toffee Pudding (honestly I just wanted a table full of English classics). So good! Oh yea, we got there at about 10:20pm on a Sunday. It closes at 12 but the kitchen was closing when we got there so we had to order quickly. I saw another post on this so I rushed the hubby to get there sooner and sure enough they warned us that we only had about 5 min to order. Awesome neighborhood bar close to the vicinity of LHR. The venue was packed, but the service didn't suffer. Food was pretty delicious, I had fish n chips and the batter was awesome. Beers were also pretty reasonably priced at 5 pounds a pint. Fun note is the music and ?karaoke starts after 1030pm so I think thats when the real fun begins. Next time I have a long layover at LHR, I'll probably try to check out central London, but this place has a special place in my heart and would be worth exploring if your looking for a bite to eat that's not airport food! read more

This is my favorite spot in the U.K.! Although the steak is a tad tough (the US has the best beef) the potatoes are sweet and meaty! The highlight, however, is the banaphie pie! A crisp cookie topped with a chunky caramel slice, covered with banana and whipped cream with homemade vanilla ice cream - I'd fly around the world for it! Disappointed again. For the last 4 years I've had dinner at the Pheasant when I had a layover at Heathrow. For the last 2 years it's been a disappointment. I took the waiter's suggestion and ordered the swordfish but he came back a few minutes later to tell me it was sold out. So I changed to the sirloin steak and asked for it medium rare. When it came it was medium well and dry. The waiter was happy to take it back and have them cook another. That one came medium well, also. It's hard to blame the cook since the steaks are so thin it would be very hard to get it to medium rare. It was fairly tender but tasteless. Veggies were boring. For £20 I was expecting better. Had a layover and wanted to at least try some fish and chips on our stop over. We rushed our butts over here in hopes that the kitchen was still open passed 10. Luckily for us the bar area was still open and we got our beer battered fish and chips! The portion was huge and it came with two sides. Overall the fish was good and the fried crust wasn't overbearing. The sides we shared were the peas, cole slaw, regular fries and curly fries. Though I didn't have anything besides the fish and chips, I would recommend coming through here if you're just stopping by, want a drink, and grab some grub near the airport. Their menu selection was pretty big, so you don't have to limit yourself. The resturant was charming and pretty spacious inside as far as making room for seats in different spaces and nooks. Delicious pub dinner, very generous portions so two of us shared a starter (calamari), main (steak and ale pie) and dessert (cheesecake with mango ice cream). Decided to walk from the Renaissance Hotel, only about 15 minutes. Very good customer service. A man at the main door was very helpful and explained how everything worked, order at the counter, self-seating with a numbered wooden spoon and the staff bring out your order based on your number. It's a busy place but well organized. Overall, a very pleasant experience! read more

We had a seven hour layover at Heathrow on our way to Milan from LAX. Free transportation: You can go to the central bus terminal at Heathrow and ride any of these buses, getting off at the Radisson: 105,111,140,285,555,556,557 Since our layover was so long, we checked into the Spa at the Radisson and took a sauna and shower for 10 pounds each. Well worth it. Then walked down New Rd. to the Pheasant Pub. Had the fish and chips, Sausages and curly fries, two pints and two glasses of wine. The total cost was 32 pounds. Food was great, lots more to try. You could probably visit the pub on a three hour layover, and the Radisson Spa and Pub on a five hour layover. It was quite leisurely for us to do both in our seven hours. In case you don't know about pubs, you walk in and go directly to the bar and get your pint or wine, tell them you would like to order food and they will guide you through the process. Don't sit at a table and expect a waitress to come take your order, because you will never be served. Had a GREAT experience at the Pheasant pub. I found this place as a result of a long layover and staying at the Marriott by the airport. As many times as I've been to London, I've never really had true Biritish food and never seeked it out because I've only ever heard negative things. But I thought I'd give it a try this time and it seemed like something that would be easy on my stomach before getting on the flight. What I found was such an awesome quiant restaurant with one side that has full-service dining in a cozy setting, and another side that has a lot of the same food, but a full-service bar and order at the register dining. The full-service dining side was full so they referred me to the other side. This place was fantastic! I loved every single thing I ate. I even enjoyed the walk through the neighborhood and past the big grassy park on the way there. I only wish I had my wife with me so we could share a few things. I got the Chicken and Mushroom PIe and one of the soups that came with a big ol' baguette. Both were so delicious and full of flavor, contrary to what you were told British food tastes like. If British food is typically bland, The Pheasant Inn is an exception. Great restaurant. I hope that have one closer into the city since I don't spend much time by the airport, but this restaurant is good enough that I may leave a few hours earlier for the airport than normal to grab a bite before heading back out. read more

I have known of the Pheasant for a decade and have been about 9 times over that period. It has always been brilliants every time! Good, authentic, real, pub food. Wonderful fish and chips or bangers and mash. I had my first, ever, sticky totes pudding there and it became my standard. Why could I have not found this place years ago on my trips through Heathrow?? I stay out by Heathrow usually coming or going from European biz trips and I had always assumed that there were no decent places to eat, you just deal with the 30$ hamburgers at the Marriott, Hilton, Sheraton....you get the picture. This past week one of my friends knew I had a night at Heathrow and told me about this place. Just a short walk from my hotel, very warm and friendly place with umbrellas outside to have a beer or two before we went into the Restaurant. Menu was extensive and the service was great! I had the stuffed chicken with fries with some gravy on the side. I am not a big graving fan but this brown stuff was really tasty. My colleague had the lamb chops, four nice sized ones, and he was eating it right off the bone is was so good. Do yourself a favor when staying at Heathrow airport hotels. Leave the hotel for dinner. If you've stayed on Bath Road, you know finding a decent restaurant outside your hotel seems impossible. Not so. Just a few short blocks off Bath Rd (on New Street, in between the Radisson and Marriott hotels), there is a hidden little gem. The Pheasant. You have the option of the pub or restaurant. Dine indoors or out. The building is beautiful. The service is solid. And the food is delicious. It's a big menu with plenty of options to suit everyone. Last evening, I had the fried calamari strips as a starter and a brie and beetroot tart with salad for the main course. It was more food than I could possibly eat but it was very tasty. The price tag was much lower than you will pay in hotel restaurants and the restaurant has much more charm. read more

The Pheasant Restaurant was a delightful surprise in a stay near Heathrow Airport. One is first seated and presented a menu, after which one must go to the counter to order and pay. The meal is then brought to the table when ready. One orders drinks at the bar, with a large selection of beers and wines, at very reasonable prices for glasses or bottles of wine. The food menu is very comprehensive and includes typical English dishes and a wide variety of meat and seafood entrees. My wife had the Scottish salmon and it was moist and flavorful. On two occasions I had the chicken and mushroom pot pie, which was really delicious. It was served with fresh peas and french fries and gravy. The portions are huge, for very reasonable prices. I recommend the Pheasant without reservation. Great food. Reasonable prices. Substantial portions. There are various lamb dishes and seafood options. I like this place - definitely going back. Baby ribs are yum yum, but the beef stroganoff not so, at least not worth the £17 price tag for the very tiny bit of meat that's in there. We were looking for a good place for dinner and a pint on our last night in Europe and we were staying at a hotel at London Heathrow. And this place popped up with a ton of amazing reviews and nothing but high comments about just how amazing their food was. This is an English Pub right from the start you walk in dark wood on the walls and all the fixings of a very traditional pub. Warm fire place and any type of beer you could want. Then the delight of the food. Check out the pictures and you can see the menu. The menu was two full chalk boards and then a regular menu. They had everything you could imagine. Fresh Fish. The Beef , Pork and Chicken pies were HUGE. We spoke with the owner and he gave us a few of his favorites. We got there about 4:30pm before the dinner crowd, come 7pm this place was packed with a line of people out the door ordering food. The owner stopped by a few times and asked how we are and I complimented him on just how delicious his food was and how his staff was on top of everything. He said. " I just think everyone deserves a good meal at a good price, and you should not have to empty your pockets to have it. If you ever have an overnight at Heathrow, run to this place. Likable place. I was there in the early afternoon on a weekday and found it relaxing. Plenty of places to sit. The staff was friendly and the prices were reasonable. The crowd is a mix of travelers, airport related workers or those from the neighborhood (yes it's in an actual neighborhood). So nice to find such a relaxing place near Heathrow. If you're on a layover and taking a bus, give yourself about 20 minutes each way for the ride and walk from the Heathrow Central Bus Station. Take any bus that goes on Bath road and exit at the stop near the Radisson hotel and walk from there. read more

Great Pub near Heathrow. Our return flight to the US was cancelled so the airline put us up at the Sofitel Hotel for the night which is part of Terminal 5 at Heathrow. The Pheasant is perfect for getting out of the airport for legit "British Pub Experience" and a quick meal or drink. The food is high quality Pub fare and they have all the usual beer and cider on tap. The Steak and Ale pie was great. It's more of a neighborhood Pub but they get their fair share of int'l visitors there as well. Take the (free) #243 bus from Heathrow toward Bath Rd and get off at the Marriott. Walk back about 50 yards to New Road and it's about a 5 min walk to the Pheasant. The door man will call a cab for your return- (€10) or you can take the bus back. read more

Excellent restaurant and pub walking distance to Heathrow Marriott. I had the Mussels in a chowder sauce w/ French bread as appetizer and Herb Crusted Rack of Lamb. The Mussels were a meal in itself and were delicious. The Lamb was a tiny bit overcooked to my liking but was tender and very tasty. Service was excellent. This place is a keeper! read more

Authentic British fare but that's not necessarily a good thing. I had to stay overnight at one of the airport hotels and was looking for something to do. I have to say that this place was a big disappointment. The food came out within five minutes of ordering which is never a good sign. I ordered the shepherd's pie and the potatoes clearly had a film from being under a heat lamp for too long. I was more annoyed at being shunted off into this little room with two tables and three chairs. Soon after my food arrived, two American engineers were seated and I was left wondering if this is the ghetto room they put all Americans in. The rest of the place looked quite nice and I think that it's nice if you're a local. I would steer clear if you're just passing through one of the nearby hotels. read more

You are seated and then order at the kitchen and are given a number for your table. you buy your drinks separately at the bar but you can get them to combine a single drink with your meal order?
