Your typical British pub but the kitchen goes a little above and beyond. Great fish & chips (get the fresh fish it is more but worth it) are standard but the curry and rice is great too. The food comes fairly fast and is presented nicely. What really sets The Pheasant apart is the atmosphere, low wood ceilings, bad lighting, and stand offish bartenders that make you feel like you are in England. This was close to the airport hotel we stayed at and stayed open fairly late. I really just wanted to have some traditional pub food and this place had good reviews. My husband and I both had the fish and chips. It was well cooked and really large portions! I think we could have shared one plate and it would have been enough for both of us. What a find near Heathrow. Cool local inn and pub. Bit of a strange ordering system: buy beer at the bar and food at a window in the back of a restaurant, but they let you run a tab and settle with one bill. I left at 8PM on a Sat, but it was filing up fast. I suspect it gets real busy later. I had the fish and chips which was great. I saw others order fancier dishes which looked awesome. Make time for this restaurant minutes from Heathrow! The building itself is exquisitely designed and decorated. The service was friendly and accommodating. The food is divine . Starters are large: I highly recommend the grilled avocado with salmon. Great assortment of steak, chicken, fish, pastas. And save room for dessert!!! Been here for food lots of times. The food in the pub have huge portions. The chilli beef burger is amazing with curly fries. THIS PLACE IS GREAT!! While staying at a hotel near Heathrow recently, my husband and I, discovered this gem. We liked it so much, we went back when passing through London on our way back to the USA, 10 days after our first visit. Located just a short distance from the entrance to London Heathrow Airport, The Pheasant is great place to go if you have a few hours to spare at Heathrow, or are staying near the airport. There is a main restaurant that resembles a Swiss chalet, set out on six levels, allowing them to allocate an intimate dinner for two or accommodate larger groups. The restaurant offers an impressive menu catering to all tastes, at reasonable prices, in a casual, relaxing atmosphere. On our first visit, we shared two appetizers, the "Grilled Avocado with Stilton and Smoked Salmon" and the "Stir Fried Butterfly King Prawns served with a Chilli, Garlic & Butter Dressing with Saffron Rice"...both were excellent, as was the service. Wine, beer and spirits are available to accompany your meal. We did not have dessert, but they have a magnificent selection to chose from. On our second visit, we visited the bar, sitting outside on the covered patio. This is NOT your normal pub food. Most of what is offered in the restuarant is offered at the bar (maybe more). We had the "Traditional British Beer Battered Cod with Chips" and the "Slow Roasted Half Shoulder Lamb served with Mashed Potatoes fresh Vegetables and Gravey" . Both were awesome. Be warned, the portions are HUGE...plenty to share. My only complaint....when we asked them to call a taxi cab for us to get back to our hotel, a car service showed up in a Mercedes, costing almost double than the taxi cab getting there. This was our 3rd time to the Pheasant, but only our first time eating there. We finally made it on time! :) We had been running late the other times and missed the lunch seating. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the choices. We had an excellent recommendation of a nice crisp white wine to go with our lunch. Good enough that we ordered a 2nd bottle (ooh-and maybe a third!) I had the fish and chips with the mushrooms as a starter. My nieces both had the langostino salad which was amazing. (Wish I had ordered it too!) Everything was excellent and I can't wait to return. read more

I love this place. Been there twice while in the area on business (I'm from Philly) Unfortunately both times I was alone so had no company to share the enormous-sized portions with. Both times I had the prawn and Avocado salad- divine! The service was spectacular both times. This is a quick walk from The Renaissance just a couple blocks away. It is pub-ish in atmosphere and kind of loud in a jovial way. Both times I have had fun conversations with my dining neighbors. The decor is classy but comfortable with perfect lighting. Make sure you go to the restaurant part, not the pub, towards the back left of the building if it's the restaurant style you are seeking. I'd definitely go back. read more

The Pheasant was not pleasant. I had very high hopes for this place. It was recommended by a person in the lobby of the holiday inn ( after I found it on Yelp). A quick 10 minute walk brought us to the beautiful facade. My guests were already singing my praises for finding this gem. We walked in and the bar and it was packed ( a good sign), but we wanted a more traditional dinning experience so we went upstairs. After getting dirty looks from the bartender and the manager - we were finally greeted with "do you have a booking?" Keep in kind this Is a Thursday in January. We did not have a reservation, and they said it was a 2 hr wait. So we went back to the bar, and they wouldn't let us order because my 16 year old sister was with us ( must be 18). And did I mention that everyone in the dinning room MUST order a full meal! We left, disgusted, disappointed, hungry and thirsty. read more

This place was amazing. We went based on the other yelp reviews and they were absolutely correct. The place was outstanding. The food was so good with huge portions and very reasonably priced. The staff was so friendly and nice. Despite being right next to Heathrow and all of the airport hotels, I would say that the place was full of mostly locals, which only demonstrates even further the outstanding quality of the food and service. Yep. pretty much as good as it gets. This is for the pub not the restaurant. I am visiting from the US and stopping over before a flight home in the morning. I went for the beef lasagna and chips. And a pint of Tetleys. The lasagna was fantastic, very tasty indeed with nice thick cut chips. And a nice side salad. Delicious, I wish you could get casual food this good back at home in the US. I sat outside. There was a polish football fan that was causing some trouble but the security team quickly and efficiently removed him. Quick service. read more

Wow....great surprise recommended by our hotel. There's a restaurant and a pub. We ate in the pub. Carrot and lentil soup was delicious. The chicken pot pie was delicious. It came in a nice cream gravy with mushrooms. Crust was flaky and properly baked. Chips were very large and well cooked. We had sticky toffee pudding for dessert. It was fantastic. Two couples next to us had four different dishes and aid all were great. So...if you're in a Heathrow hotel...skip the hotel food and give it a try. read more

It was my first night in London and I wanted some good English food. The bf and friend said they had gone to a local place very close to the hotel in heathrow that was a must go to and that was this hidden gem. "Good food, beer, and people" they said and you get exactly that! I had no idea what a local british pub would look like but this seemed to be it. Right away entering the restaurant this place gives you that homey feel of a local hangout. The menu was pretty extensive and had a large variety of british food and beer on tap! Pretty toasty after just 1 pint of Stella but the best Stella ever, much better than I ever had in the states. I ordered the fried brie with merlot sauce for appetizer and a beef wellington for my main course. The brie and sauce were a good unique combo. Anything fried is good but fried brie... what an excellent invention. The beef wellington with the gravy sauce was delicious and the crust was excellent!! I never had it before, but it was dang good!! As the night went on, the pub got more and more crowded with locals that were coming in for happy hour and just a relaxing place to chill, have a beer, and chat after a long days work. It was nice to have this restaurant as my first british experience and the good food and beer made it very memorable! Seems like one of the only good places to eat in heathrow and don't miss!! Worth the walk if staying at any of the local hotels near the airport or even during a layover. read more

We had the soup of the day (vegetable soup), the chicken and mushroom pie, rack of lamb, a t-bone, and the roast (beef) dinner. The feedback from the entire group was amazing. Temperatures on the meats were perfect and bakes on the pie and yorkshire pudding were on point. Food was amazing, so amazing that we felt guilty not being able to polish our plates. Portions are more generous that any other place we visited in the UK. We enjoyed the relaxed environment, even though it was crowded we didn't feel claustrophobic. Get there early if you can, the dinner rush can be super busy. read more

Could not get in 3- 57 year old men who has been drinking in this pub since the late 70s was told we could not come in unless we had Photo Id , or a passport. So we were turn away on 24 Sep 2017. The pub was not busy. The time was 10.50pm the pub is open till 2pm. Why Why Why ??? The Bouncer must be losing the pub awful lot of money as we were only wanted one or two pints. We've been intending to try out the pheasant for a while and when we finally did - it didn't disappoint! The restaurant is a large and quirky space spread over several levels with a huge high roof space. It's very pretty, though slightly uncomfortable on a warm evening. Our waitress was lovely and very conscientious. The food was great. A half roast chicken came with a mountain of chips, veg and stuffing. The breast meat was a little dry but everything else was perfect. Carbonara was a huge portion with salad and garlic bread. But the desserts. Oh my god the desserts. First of all, Ted nails the public transport. If you're anywhere on the main Bath Road strip, it's easy to walk to. To get to the main part of Bath Road, use any of the buses he identifies. I had a steak & Stilton pie. Unlike many such pies, you could really taste the cheese, and it was a nice compliment to the flaky crust. Portions are really big, so don't be the person at the table near me who ordered both fish & chips AND shepherd's pie and couldn't figure out how to eat it. The menu is expansive, so if you're in a nearby hotel and want to eat there a couple times in a week, you should be able to find something you want pretty easily even after a couple of trips. read more
