Located up in the food court of 5th and Broadway this was a great option after taking part in libations!! Service - friendly and easy, order from the counter and they text and call your name when order is ready! It's a flood court atmosphere so it's order at counter and grab a seat where you can. I had the Philly fries - ribeye, fries, onions and cheese whiz. Ate every bite and was so good, it's a good portion for one not shareable in my opinion unless you're sharing multiple things. The Philly Special was a pricey disappointment. Located in the upper level of the food haul, it was one of the shorter lines during lunch hour on a Thursday. I opted for the classic philly with cajun fries and queso. It took over 20 minutes to receive the meal. I liked the cajun fries and queso and their lemonade. However, the philly was one of the driest ones I've had. They definitely overcooked the meat. My son ordered the chicken sandwich (nashville hot inspired) and it was not good either, very bland. My visit here was absolutely outstanding! After looking at all of the options in Assembly Food Hall I settled on The Philly Special. I was looking for a hearty greasy meal and this checked all the boxes. I ordered The Original with ribeye and whiz. I also got a side of their crinkle fries and a soda. The soda was the only negative of this experience but that isn't their fault. The food hall has common soda machines all around and on this particular day they were very busy and had no ice in any of the machines. The coke also was lacking in syrup. Again, not their fault but wanted to mention. The sandwich was absolutely amazing and everything I was looking for. The combination of flavors was cheesy, greasy, bready goodness. The bun also had a nice crisp that added some good texture. The fries were very crispy and hot. I love a crinkle fry and these were no exception. I've lived here long enough to know things just aren't going to taste the same as they do elsewhere. Dunkin just slaps up north. It's a fact. Knowing that, The Philly Special filled my nostalgia void. Full disclosure here, I wasn't eating cheesesteaks in Philly. I was eating them in NJ mall food courts and making them at home with Steak-umms. So I am not an expert nor do I claim to be even remotely close to one. I'm just a fan of cheesesteaks and I know a bad when at first bite. I'll defer to the Philly people on its authenticity. This cheesecake isn't a bad one. It's a perfectly satisfying, tasty, customize-it-as-you-want cheesesteak. I enjoyed it so much I ordered it again. It's going into my regular rotation. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. I really wanted to like this. At a bare minimum a philly cheesesteak it tasty. A special one is memorable. This experience was memorable for all the wrong reasons though. I understand 5th + Broadway is a very busy location with tons of foot traffic. Every other spot we've eaten at in this little shopping center has had great service and food though. I ordered The Works. Which is supposed to have Ribeye, caramelized onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, jalapeños, Provolone. Sounds good. They were busy so after they made my sub I took it and sat down. After examining it I realized it LITERALLY only had the ribeye and one piece of cheese. No mushrooms, jalapenos, none of the other toppings. I would have understood a simple mistake. But this was just laziness from the staff. Even the standard "original" Philly from them has onions on it, which mine didn't have. So they just slammed meet and cheese on there, looked at my ticket which said "THE WORKS" on it, and said order up. By the team I realized this I knew it'd take 20-30 mins to get another sub, and it wouldn't have even been worth it. The food was pretty bland and unseasoned as well. read more
