First things first. I love pho. I try to go at least once a week. I've lived down the hill my whole life, I came from Orange County so I am very picky on my pho. I've got it from true ethnic family own locations my whole life. I took the chance at trying "thePHO" and first impressions of the place are a little lacking. Normal ordering process, language is all in English on the menu which I usually take with a gain of salt when it comes to judging a place. Got my normal rare beef pho which is a safe bet when trying new places. Along with the shrimp spring rolls. Spring rolls came out, no fishy smell and were nice and chilled. Regular side spread arranged before Pho was brought out. At first glance it appeared normal. Added my lime and chili oil, yes they have it just ask, took a sip of the broth and yeah this place is good. Not the best but definitely will satisfy your pho cravings. What a nice little spot. A take on typical pho, but with expanded proteins (as well as broth and noodle choices). The base should be a well execute broth, and i say this place misses that mark. The traditional pho broth should be deep and complex, with spices and collagen that gives a whole mouth feel. Coming in to save the dish were the fabulous toppings. Messy interior but friendly staff. It seemed less busy for being the lunch hour. I tried the ribeye Pho and a Vietnamese coffee (which was good and strong but a little too sweet for my taste). The Pho broth is bland and could use more seasoning but is helped by the jalapeños, lime and hoisin sauce condiments. I had a really bad experience at this pho spot. The staff was extremely rude and took forever to take our order, even though we were the only ones there. They also didn't have any boba available, which was disappointing. We took our food to go, and when we got home to eat, it was honestly gross. The pho came with raw meat just placed on top of everything else, which was unappetizing. Also the eggrolls didn't say what they contained which it's normally pork but I should have asked. It contains shrimp in which I cannot eat. If we had tried it at the restaurant, we definitely would've said something right away. I absolutely love this spot, not just because of the food or the drinks but the hospitality and service was amazing!!!!! Big shout out to the owner Bryan and sherry Prut server!! Came here for my husband's and mother in laws birthday dinner, and they went above and beyond for them. They had a little section decorated for them. It was so sweet. I wasn't able to get as many pictures cause we were super hungry but the wonton chips and jackfruit salas was soooo good. I loved it. It just needs a little spicy. Cause spicy girls are always winning. The fish sauce wings were a must as well. Not super salty but they flavor and crunch was there. But my fave was there Vietnamese drip coffee. Soooo Soo good. It sucks to write this review but I have to in attempt to save this local business from running itself into the ground. Let me preface by saying I have been coming here for years (Even during previous ownership Pho Bellwood). Got some lunch today with a friend and was more than disappointed. My bad experience started with water that was brought out in a rusted "stainless steel" pitcher. Following the water was my appetizer of two shrimp spring rolls which had wilted lettuce and hardened rice paper. My guess? They were pre rolled and left in the fridge a little too long BUT at least the shrimp didn't taste bad. Lastly, the broth for their soup was incredibly bland compared to past years. The positives? Ambience is chill, the restaurant seems clean, and our server was attentive. I hope they fix their short comings and save their business. Good place to get some pho. I ordered the OG Bowl. It has all the toppings that are authentic like brisket, rare beef, meatball, tendon, and tripe. The beef broth was clear and fresh tasting. It was a flavorful broth. The meats were cooked right and tender. Egg rolls here are crunchy with a savory filling. Made to order so they are hot when they arrive at the table. I ordered a taro milk tea to go with my meal. The tea came in a cute plastic cup with an animal head lid. The tea size was generous so I was able to take home the cup to finish later. Would rate this 0 stars if yelp allowed it. Came on a Monday around 3:00 PM and ordered two rib eye phos and an O.G. I tasted the broth BEFORE adding any sauces and it was honestly the worst pho I've had in my life, and I was told it was due to a bad batch. The broth tasted like nothing and came lukewarm, not hot. The issue is that since my party and I ate a couple bites to make sure it was trash, we can't exchange or get a refund because we touched it. We are forced to pay for a bad batch and don't even want to hear the no refund policy from the owner because it's just so disappointing to call it pho. I'm not picky with pho, because there are stronger versions and light and refreshing broths depending on what pho restaurant you go to. Either way you get a taste of beef and it is definitely noticeable that this broth was literal water and grease. It's not a judgement solely made by my preferable taste, but a conclusion by me and my party who all agreed it was trash. Was my first and last time here. Servers were able to explain that a refund isn't possible and the most we were going to get is another order to go. I didn't want to exchange the water broth pho for more water. I am Vietnamese and worked at a Pho restaurant as a manager with Vietnamese ownership, so I am not a random person that doesn't know what they are talking about. I went for lunch yesterday and was thoroughly impressed by the atmosphere, decor, service, and most importantly - the food! The menu is quite extensive but very flexible, you can add and subtract items from any dish because everything is made fresh to order. Our server was the owner, he was very attentive and friendly. You have to try the fried wontons with pink (hot) sauce and jackfruit salsa - the best ever! I had the Green & Tofu bowl with vegan broth - it was simple, clear and perfect. Let me start off by saying, I really wanted to like this place. The menu is extremely inviting. The restaurant is culturally sound and they play the BEST old school r&b music. I ordered the oxtail pho with one rib because I assumed the broth would be extremely flavorful. It wasn't! On top of that everything I said I didn't want in the Pho was in the Pho. I spent about 5 mins picking stuff out until I gave up and up requested a new one. Well I got the new bowl and I began doctoring it up and tasting as I continued surgery. After I got to a point when I was just "okay" with the flavor, I realized that someone was shedding while cooking the pho and I'm afraid to even think about how much hair I ate or drank before discovering the hair. Two straight strand were floating on the top of my broth greeting me. I should have taken pictures but my entire spirit was troubled to even think to do so. The condiment bottles were sketchy. It was apparent that the bottles had been used and refrigerated for a few nights without the spouts being cleaned. I literally thought that the water carafe was iced tea because of the brown stains inside of them. The milk tea with boba was average for the high desert. Nothing to rant or rave about however their cups were ADORABLE. My friend ordered the short ribs and she thought they were okay. However, they looked amazing to me! If it wasn't for this hair experience I would have totally came back to try them. I really wanted to support this local business but there were too many red flags for me. Hopefully someone else's experience would be more pleasant. Honorable mention: Without apology or verbal acknowledgment of the hair, they removed the meal from my bill and offered a discount for my tables tab. I still tipped though I shouldn't have. My family ordered Pho to go and some veggies rolls. We order this once a week at local restaurants and I'm sorry to say it was awful. The broth was bland, the noodles were hard and did not soften in broth. The veggies rolls seemed burnt in my opinion and also bland and unappealing. The worst part was they declined to cook the meat to our preference and I get it's Pho but when you order from a restaurant slot of it has to do with how you like your food and for a small local place, I think they dropped the mark there. The food at the other local spots don't blow you away but the food is edible not to mention the price is high in my opinion and they want to charge you for soy-sauce packets and a dollar for a lime. Now I really like this place. There is a few pho spots in the desert but this one in my favorite. The interior definitely follows a colorful and somewhat 'religious' nature like any traditionally good pho (or Chinese) restaurant. The atmosphere is so welcoming they always have good music playing and usually the tv is on. When I first starting coming here the menus were much smaller only offering about 10 drink option and 10 food options. They have definitely expanded the menu which is exciting to see in the desert. My husband got the classic pho and a Banh Mi sandwich and a Vietnamese ice coffee. I ended getting the short rib bowl and a milk tea with boba. And man did it spank! 10/10 The ribs were so tender and fell right off the bone. The broth was so smooth not too salt and not too bland. The Banh Mi did have a weird flavor and not as traditional 6.5/10. The drinks are a little too sweet for my taste but otherwise no other complaints 9.5/10. But this is the real kicker. There was only one woman working the Friday rush (10+ customers) by herself and her name was Callie. She really went above and beyond helping take orders not only at the tables but at the register clear tables, service the door dashes, pick up orders, and serve the food. It's the hour that we were dining in she saw about 20 customer ( and at one point the front half of the restaurant was full). So applause to her for not only keeping her cool but also being cordial with every customer that entered the restaurant. 9/10 in total. I do come about once a month. I love the food. read more

The worker Shawn was super amazing and has awesome customer service! We ordered Oxtail Pho, Oxtail fried rice and popcorn chicken, and I have to say we were definitely happy for our first time ordering food here. The oxtail was so tender and seasoned well. My family and I love Oxtail and it's so hard to find anywhere in the high desert that even makes it. The food reminded me of my childhood, and my kids loved it as well! Shawn was also able to accommodate to my son's egg allergy safely. No cross contamination or reaction. Super happy about that! Being from LA living in the high desert it is so hard to find food places that remind me of home, but this place definitely did just that. Also I did not intend to get boba but once I tried it I was impressed at the fact that the boba actually tasted fresh as if it was just made, not just sitting around forever like some of the places up here in the desert. I ordered the OG pho and it was very good, but I got big/thick chunks of the tripe, which was hard to eat because I can only tolerate little strips of tripe at a time lol. I will omit tripe next time. I ordered the Taro frappe w boba and I have to say that the boba was very good quality...not too chewy and not too hard like other boba places in the area. The Korean Bbq ribs were a bit disappointing though because they lacked the "korean bbq" flavor that I was hoping for when I ordered it...it was quite bland to be honest with you...but the Krispy mein made up for the blandness because it was a bit on the salty side. Other than that, I was very impressed by The Pho. I support local small businesses as I am a small business owner myself. The Pho has exceptional service...the food presentation was phenomenal: hat's off to the chef(s).
