So I wanted to try this place out mainly because of the beef stew pho they had on the photos. It looked so good plus the reviews were mostly all positive. Well when I got there I noticed there was only street parking, so I'm sure during lunch hours the rush hour, it is probably a pain trying to find parking. Once I got to the restaurant I noticed they had outdoor dining with a couple heaters, but we ended up sitting inside because it had a cool cabin type of vibe to it. I liked it but they had the door open and it was freezing inside so this made eating really unpleasant for me. The guy gave us our menus and I was looking all through it and didn't find the beef stew soup. I asked him if they have it still and he said no. Bummer! I noticed a lot of the stuff on this menu wasn't on the old menu. So I ended up ordering the wonton noodle soup. Lol the guy says we might not have wonton so what would you like to change it for if we don't. I said the beef stew soup but you don't have that either. I asked if he can find out if they do have the wonton soup before deciding on something else. He did and sure enough they had it. I also ordered the chicken wraps. It took awhile for our food to come out, but when it did the soup was really hot, so that was a plus. The wonton egg noodle soup was good it had a lot of veggies in it, but no garlic. It was kind of salty to be honestly at least the broth was. I probably won't come here again, plus the price was higher than I'm use to for pho. read more

I service was REALLY bad. I was waiting for over 15 mins and no one even acknowledged me. There was one table available but it wasn't clean upped yet. So I Waited and waited. One guy was working and was busy getting receipts and water but didn't even bother to let me know he will be helping me soon. Then after 15 min, 2 more ppl came after me and after 20 min of waiting told us to sign the waiting list. By that time 90% of the tables left. I left and the lady who came after me left as well. I had their pho before and I find it to be too salty but being a rainy day thought I'll try this place again. Bad idea. I'll goto the other pho place down the street. Ordered the lemongrass grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli and it was very delicious! I was surprised at how much grilled pork was served! With tax, it was $22 for takeout. The portion is good sized and everything tasted fresh. I did have to ask for hoisin sauce, as it doesn't come with the takeout container. The current owner took over a few years back and redid the look and menu. I'm glad they're not too fancy to serve pho, like the last place. You do have to remember this is Los Altos, so they'll still push high end items. Unlike your standard pho menu where item #1 is the deluxe combo. Their pho combo was pretty good, with the standard cuts, plus meatballs. Broth was good. Noodles were soft but clumped at the bottom. Meatballs, which don't normally appear in combo specials, we're not bad. It came with sprouts and the usual sauces. We also ordered lemon grass chicken and shrimp. The chicken was tender, and shrimp was good too. Everything in bright red sauce with the right flavors. A bit on the pricey side for a rice plate, but there's plenty of meat there. The tea was a buck per person, but came in a nice white pot. The jasmine smelled sweet and fragrant. Even though I object to paying for tea nowadays, it was worth it for the higher quality leaves. We always wanted to try Pho Cabin but never got a good timing. Last week we finally got a chance. As always, we ordered one beef pho and one veggie pho. When the food was delivered, the broth was so hot that the plastic bag melted. The containers fell out and half of the beef broth was spilled... Both the beef and the broth were delicious. However, most of the noodles got stuck together (even the boiling broth had a hard time melting them apart). The noodles were also mostly in bits and pieces, barely remained in shape. We've been meaning to come here forever since it's so close. The last time we tried during a Friday lunch, they were full! We tried for a random Wednesday at this time, and we got the second to last table outside during lunch. The menu is simple. We got a combination pho and pho ga. The pho ga had white meat chicken that was shredded into smaller pieces, which I appreciate. The broth was flavorful for both phos without being overly salty, and I didn't walk away super thirsty, which is a good sign. They used quality ingredients, and the noodle texture was great. Bonus: they make a great iced Vietnamese coffee - strong, not too sweet, just simple coffee + condensed milk. Pho cabin may be our new go-to pho place (as long as we can get a table!) read more

Easy street parking on a Friday night. Small, cozy restaurant with a "cabin" like feel, hence the name. Service was good. Had the fried egg rolls and a chicken pho soup. The egg rolls were a little disappointing. Too pasty and difficult to find any meat in side. The star was the pho. Probably in my top 3 in the Bay Area. Nice mouthfeel to the very flavorful soup, tons of shredded and tender chicken and good amount of perfectly cooked noodles. I asked for some extra cilantro/green onion mixture and fried shallots. Every now and then I crave me some papaya salad, and this hits the spot. Banh mi comes lightly toasted bread with tender beef and side of chips - a favorite! Beef stew is tender and the broth is rich and flavorful, comes with fresh bread or noodles. Bun Thit Nuong with perfectly grilled pork and cold noodles with fish sauce dressing. Beef pho has so much goodness in the broth and the beef is just right for cold weather or anytime really. Especially when the temperature drops and that piping hot bowl of pho is simply divine. With such a rave review, maybe I was holding off on writing it for so long because I don't want the word to get out. We finally made it to the Pho Cabin and we were glad we did. Our server was super friendly and helpful. We started with summer rolls which were fresh tasting and packed with shrimp and pork, basil and noodles with a smooth and tasty peanut sauce for dipping. I went for the Bun with pork and spring rolls which was beautifully presented, bountiful and really tasty. The other people in my party opted for the namesake Pho and were not disappointed. This is a 4 star restaurant. Why did I give it a 3 stars? Food. Compared to a good Vietnamese pho restaurants, it's truly a 3 stars. - The soup is saltier then usual. I couldn't tell if it's msg or salt. I tasted msg at the one on El Camino real and San Antonio but not here. Nonetheless, I was thirsty after lunch. - The grilled pork was colored in orange. I think they use certain marinate for it. If you had good grilled pork, you will see regular meat color and grilled marks and most importantly, smell charcoal. Why do personally, I rate it a 4 stars? Service is not the best, but waiters are friendly. They tried. Food portion is generous, mun (dry vermicelli) is more pricey but soup pho is good value. For soup pho, decent portion of meat. The food is not bad quality. Not at all, 3 stars means a Ok. So don't assume it's not 4 stars or 5 and the food is not good. It's the only pho in DTLA. There is another pho in Los Altos. I tried the salad it was good but I haven't tried the pho yet so I can't comment but it's a nice place to sit outside under the sun and have pho. Very pleasant. We dined outside on a Friday evening. We wrote our names down on the waitlist but the wait was no longer than 10 minutes. They were very busy and I could tell the waiters were overwhelmed, but they did a good job being attentive and providing us with decent service. We both ordered: Appetizer * egg rolls/ cha gio - 2 fat crispy delicious egg rolls with a sweet chili sauce Entrees * Pho Dac Biet/ Special Pho - I ordered the small bowl and it was pretty hefty. Fresh noodles and protein. Unfortunately, the broth was lacking depth & flavor, which is v important since it's the star of the dish. Also, no tripe or tendons. No culantro on the veggie/herb tray. This is such a cute place to have a big bowl of comforting pho. There's heated outdoor seating and indoor dining. The staff is very friendly. We had their rare beef pho which was absolutely amazing! I'm still traumatized from the last time I had Vietnamese food in the area.... (I'm being dramatic.) While the staff was very nice, $16 for a horrific bowl of pho with murky broth was not the business. Neither was the nuoc cham (fish sauce) that tasted like sugar water. If you've had legit Vietnamese food in a divey hole-in-the-wall, you know what I'm talking about! You go for strictly for the good food served expeditiously. I was on my way to Cupertino and was looking for a place for lunch, I came across The Pho Cabin under the "hot and new businesses" on yelp. TBH, I was weary because of the area and because of my last experience with Vietnamese food in the area. BUT...you'll never know until you try it right? The Pho Cabin really surprised me for being in Los Altos - fresh ingredients, delicious Vietnamese food, AND fantastic service! While perusing the menu, I noticed that the current menu is different than what's posted on yelp (no more Banh Xeo, Vietnamese crepe) and dishes are about $2 more than posted menu on yelp. The prices are higher than I'm used to but the rent here must be really high and you're supporting a small business so I don't mind. Food service was slower than the norm. It took over 20 minutes to receive our order and we were the only ones there. I'm sure once the kitchen gets into their groove, food service will be faster. The restaurant is in a great location and has a really nice theme. The service was great. I was really disappointed by the food. This by far was the WORST Vietnamese food I've ever had. I was especially shocked because for 2 banh mi, 2 iced coffees and 1 fry...it cost me over $50 dollars. Pricing was shocking but I thought it would be okay if the food was great. The bread was super soft I like French baguettes that have a little crust on the bread. The meat was unseasoned and there was hardly any vegetables. It was lack luster. So even though the sandwich wasn't great, I was hoping the fries were good. They were cold and you could tell they had been sitting. The chips served with the sand which were stale. This is a classy and pricy Vietnamese restaurant. I like the decor and the view from the window to the town of Los Altos that was not so busy. My husband and I came here to grab lunch two times: once before covid and once after. Our dine in experience: service was very attentive and helpful. There are plastic screen protectors up, all employees had their masks on, and floor markings for distance were set up. Parking is also available in a back lot and plenty of street parking. There's tons of cute shops in the area for you to browse while you walk off your big meal lol Ambiance: the pho cabin lives up to its name.
