Who would imagine a converted warehouse space would become something people seem to flock to for awesome Asian cuisine. This industrial Asian restaurant exudes a unique blend of raw urban aesthetics and rich cultural ambiance. The atmosphere is defined by, dark metal fixtures, and open ceilings showcasing steel beams and ductwork, creating a modern, almost factory-like feel. The scent of sizzling woks, fragrant spices, and smoky grilled meats lingers in the air, mingling with the subtle undertone of soy, garlic, and chili. Sitting in the dining room and sipping on a wonderfully made drink from the bar, It's almost as if the aroma from the kitchen is curling its fragrant fingers around your senses and whispering sweet, savory nothings to your hunger-stricken soul." What's done right here is the menu is completely customizable, so the plants can party as hard as the meat does. I opened with the crispy veggie spring rolls followed by a finale of spicy chicken with noodles, the night is complete. Cheers!

    Tons of dim sum!

Had dinner here after a work event - party of 4 and came in at like 8 on a Tuesday. We had to wait like 20-25 minutes but it was well worth the wait. We ordered a bunch of dim sum and it was all delicious. Their crab Rangoon actually has crab in it! It was so good. I went for my tried and true entree of spicy beef noodles and she did not disappoint once again. And tons of leftovers like always. The staff is great here and the ambiance and is perfect for a date or group dinner. Parking has become a little bit trickier with the parking lot out back being pay to park and without actual parking lines so people can park wonky sometimes. Plenty of street parking though just off the main road. And parking decks.

Solid food and great service. One thing I noticed is that they don't have any msg in their food, but tbh I think MSG would've added exactly what the dishes were lacking in.

We really enjoyed the food here! It's very fresh and you'll definitely have leftovers afterwards. The bartender Landon was very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to choosing drinks for us. Love the atmosphere as well!!

I am Chinese and I can tell you this is the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten in my life. What the f are these carrots, why is my bok choy bruised and overcooked, why is my white rice container only half full? Why is the sauce so watery? It's so easy to add a spoonful of flour to thicken it. This dish tastes like it was drowned in sugar and no other flavors. 30 dollars for this garbage, you cannot be serious.

    Gin gimlet. Thanks, Lauren

Full disclosure: We sat at the bar. Lauren made us beautiful cocktails. We got intoxicated. Nonetheless, even in a semi-inebriated state, we could tell we were having really good food. Wife had peanut noodles that were delicious. I had the 5-star generals chicken which tasted great. The chicken was a tiny bit over but it's chicken breast...that's what you get. I'm not mad at it at all. Did I mention that Lauren got us drunk? We had a lovely time and will 100% be back. Also, good music by a live DJ and a lovely new space. No complaints.

    Hows the parking down there?

Free street parking if you are lucky to find a spot, otherwise several pay-to-park garages nearby. The Dillon is the closest.

With little signage the space feels like a natural speakeasy. It's unpolished enough to feel a little sleazy, yet polished enough to never feel dirty. Whether you're a serious whiskey enthusiast or just looking for a well-made cocktail, you're in good hands. Being open later than most Raleigh bars makes Foundation one of the city's go-to late-night options, but that shouldn't overshadow what it really is........a great bar at any hour. The atmosphere, the drinks, and the people behind the bar make this a place worth seeking out whether it's your first stop of the evening or your last.

Pleasant surprise to see Michter's as the special of the night, and it was excellent with smooth caramel and vanilla notes. Service started off a little hands-off since we ordered at the bar, but picked up toward the end when staff came by to check in. Drinks were high quality without being overpriced, and the vibe is relaxed--not at all pretentious. You can definitely come casual. If we had more time, we would've stayed longer or come back for another round.

Tokens are reasonably priced and older style arcade games only take 1- the more interactive or multi player games (think air hockey, basketball, dance dance etc) take 4. They have free popcorn, daily drink specials, and drinks were very reasonably priced. Despite being fairly busy, service at the bar was friendly and fast- I was impressed! Not much else for food here from what I can tell, so don't plan on having your meal here. I brought two teenage boys and we hung out for almost 2 hours- I think I spent about 40 bucks including tokens and a couple of drinks for myself. I really liked the street art vibe, especially all of the murals and the Instagram wall. They've done a great job with ambiance! The outdoor patio adds a lot of additional chill space. When we were there they didn't have a band playing, but I think they do often. I almost want to give it 5 stars, but several of the games were not working properly and ate our tokens. That say you can grab someone to fix them, but nobody appeared available, and I wouldn't have wanted to bother them multiple times anyhow... Would be great if they were proactively checking and fixing them. More snacks would be great too! Other than that it was a really great experience, I would definitely go back.

Unfortunately, the entire experience was overshadowed by the flies. There had to be at least 20 houseflies constantly buzzing around and pestering us throughout the meal. It was difficult to relax and enjoy the food. Whiskey Kitchen is normally a solid experience, but the excessive number of flies completely killed the mood today. Three stars because parts of the meal were good, but the dining environment needs to be addressed.

I'd recommend parking a few blocks away and walking if you are unable to find parking nearby. Walking into the restaurant you'll be transported to a modern brewery, bookstore, and flower shop. I then switched to cocktails and ordered the Black Sesame Old Fashioned (bourbon, black sesame, black walnut bitters), the Dionysus (pinot noir, raspberry lemon shrub, chambord, amaretto, lemon, rhubarb bitters), and an aviation (hendricks, luxardo, creme de violette, lemon). By far the Black Sesame Old Fashioned was my favorite and what a nice touch with cracker on top of the dish. For food we ordered the Gai Lan (Stir-fried Chinese broccoli with garlic and oyster sauce), the Peking Duck (Whole, barbecued, free-range duck served with steamed bao buns, cucumber, scallions, and hoisin-honey sauce), Sweet Soy Chicken (Scallions, bell peppers, and caramelized in our ginger soy sauce. Everything is shareable, so I highly recommend visiting with fellow foodies who want to try a little bit of everything. Honestly the entire menu sounded amazing, and it was hard to choose! Thankfully our servers provided some excellent recommendations. The Pork Bao was probably my favorite bite of the night, and may very well have been the best Bao I've ever had. The Lap Cheung Fried Rice was also delicious, and I'm usually not a fried rice person! Also worth mentioning is the Lo Mein, which we ordered with chicken. We didn't stay for dessert, but all of their sweet offerings sounded incredible as well. I did try one of the beers they brew on-site, the Sow. It was light and sippable, and I appreciate their diverse beer and cocktail offerings. I can't wait to visit Raleigh again because this will be my first stop!
