We've been fans of the Pie Goddess for at least a couple of decades. We've moved from the Renton Highlands to downtown Seattle, and are now living in Maple Valley. Being an easier drive from Maple Valley, we expect to worship at the altar of the Pie Goddess more often. The dessert pies range from very good (fruit pies) to downright sinful (coconut cream). I sometimes think I should feel guilty after eating a slice, and do penance for my indulgence -- perhaps eating at McDonalds. The only savory pie of hers that we've eaten was the chicken pot pie. Other than being a bit too salty, it was excellent. I'm told that they offer 51 different pies, so there's a rotating menu. You might want to call ahead to insure that your favorite one is available. Plan on a take-out, as the dining area is miniscule (two tiny tables). It was nicer when they shared space with a panini restaurant, because lots of seating space was available (which might explain why the restaurant closed). Her pies are sometimes used as "bait" for charity auctions. We were told that one fetched $1700, while another brought $1200. That's some serious pie! read more

After hearing about this place from a couple of co-workers and reading all the positive reviews I figured I'd give this place a try for myself, the first thing that came to my mind as I took a few bites of the pie is I must have been there on and off day. I personally am a huge pie fan, and Pie doesn't go to waste with me around but the few bites that I ate was more than enough for me and I ended up throwing the remainder of my $5 slice of rubber tire on cardboard away! A proper coconut cream pie should theoretically melt-in-your-mouth, the one I received from here though, was so dry and old that it quite literally tasted like it was baked 3 weeks ago and used as a display until they ran out and sold me the last piece! One of the guys at work is constantly saying how good this place is he's buying their custom whole pies all the time, and maybe that's where I went wrong I went in just looking for one piece rather than an entire pie. Possibly their whole pies might be a little fresher but I definitely would not recommend my worst enemy to go in there and buy it by the slice. I wanted to give this place a chance as it's a small and locally owned bakery. My wife, me and my kids went to this place recently. We had high expectations as the reviews looked good. I ordered the coconut cream pie. Well I was truly disappointed. I've had different styles of coconut cream pie and this was my all time least favorite. There was so much coconut that whatever cream was in there, was overwhelmed by the actual coconut. I ate half of it and threw the rest away. My kids had chocolate and complained that the crust didn't taste good. Lastly, my wife even pointed out the boxes of krustiez laying around where the pies were being made, so not even crust made from scratch. Truly disappointed in the lack of quality. The employees were friendly but the product itself let me down. I want this place to be successful, hopefully they make some changes..I'll go elsewhere next time. read more

I was driving through Enumclaw on my way home from Mt. Rainier. I saw the sign - "THE PIE GODDESS" - and immediately found a parking spot. I love pie and I figured I ought to try any pie that boasted divinity. It was tiny inside, so the four customers present (two ladies who couldn't decide on their slices, an elderly man enjoying a chocolate pie and a newspaper at a tiny table, and me) occupied almost the entire space. There were at least ten different pie options available at about 5:30 PM on a Saturday. The slices are, in my opinion, on the pricier side at $4.35 a slice. However, the varieties sounded tantalizing and I ended up walking out with three: peach pecan, jumbleberry (four different berries), and Tollhouse. (I wanted blackberry, but it appeared to have a fruit fly infestation.) The woman on staff was friendly and efficient, if the slightest bit brisk. (She was not the Pie Goddess herself, but perhaps a pie demigoddess.) I ate my peach pecan slice on the road because I couldn't wait. It was decent, but there were precious few peach slices. It was almost entirely candied pecans and a thick crust. Where the crust touched peaches, it was a kind of a gloppy texture - at first I thought it was something other than crust, some special ingredient, but no: just crust. (I think. Still not sure.) The ridged bit of the crust had the proper texture, but tasted mostly of baking soda. It was just fine. The jumbleberry pie is in my fridge, almost totally liquefied; I'll try it later when it's more solid. I shared the Tollhouse pie at home with my boyfriend, who liked it very much. It was good, but I prefer fruit pies. The Pie Goddess appears to prefer chocolate-based pies. Having tried the pie, I think a better name for this place might be "Pie Hubris." I say that gently tongue-in-cheek, and you should probably still try a slice here. Maybe not a fruit one. Edit: The jumbleberry pie was DELICIOUS, but very sugary. read more

Presentation was great, but I was let down in 2 areas: 1. TASTE! I ordered Coconut Cream and granted, I could see lots of coconut, but didn't get alot of flavor. And please, take off the maraschino cherries! It's just confusing and isn't necessary. I think using toasted coconut on top would be more appealing. 2. The size of the slice. If the placement of the cherries was an indicator of the size of each slice, then something is way off. My slice was about 21/2 wide? The crust was okay. Pale in color and almost undercooked. *Note: I have tried the Chicken Pot Pie after a couple of people raved about it. It was expensive at $15.00. Again, the crust left something to be desired. Great place to stop in for a slice or even to grab a pie for an event/ family gathering, Susie was almost always there when we went in to visit, and we make it a point to stop by every time my mom comes up from California. This place has national award winning pie, people. Many of the pies (fruit, pecan, key lime) are non-dairy if you need it. If not, they have some incredible Butter Finger or chocolate pies. They also sell meat pies like Shepherd's Pie, which my Mom and Dad said was fantastic. Stop by on the way to or from Mt Raininer for a real treat. My husband loves pie! When we heard about this place we made the trip from Kent to try it out. I'm sorry to say that we were disappointed. I had the pecan pie. It tasted alright but I had a hard time cutting the pie crust because it was hard. My husband tried the lemon pie but it was too sweet. It needed more tartness to the lemon. Super nice over the phone and were able to provide me with a gorgeous lemon meringue pie. Talk about a beautiful meringue! Ahem, I was hungry when I went to pick up the pie and happened to notice the case of bake at home dinner pies. Thank you to the kind associate that spent time telling me about each pie, what they had in them and the ones she really liked. I took home the Beef curry pie/ curry beef? lol In My Tummy! Yummy! Excellent. Super easy drive from Maple Valley. I was worried about parking but found easy lot right behind the Pie Goddess if you make a right at the light. Worth mentioning, I was looking for a pie at a couple of local groceries with bakeries with no luck. I pestered a random lady at the second store about if she knew of any place and she recommended The Pie Goddess. I look forward to trying more of their selection. read more

We have been a few times now and have tried a few different types of pies: s'mores (good but I didn't like the nuts), tollhouse (VERY rich) and a peanut butter chocolate type. I love the small town feel and it's been good each we have been there. I read a bunch of reviews that claim the crust is from a box. I don't have the tastebuds to distinguish that, but I hope it's not true with the prices they sell their pies at. read more

We stopped in today after visiting the pumpkin patch at the recommendation of a friend. We did the dinner deal plus one extra slice of pie - so, a chicken pot pie, and then slices of key lime, apple walnut, jumbleberry, butterfinger, and lemon lush. The key lime was excellent, not too sweet, ample lime flavor, and really good graham crust. The jumbleberry filling was great as well, although their crust definitely lacks (it's made with Krusteaz mix, not homemade). We did not enjoy the other flavors. The lemon has the mildest faint hint of lemon but really tastes like straight whip cream. The apple walnut was awful, doughy and lacked any real discernible flavor and the walnuts tasted stale. The butterfinger is just way too sweet, even the kids were like "nah" after one bite. And really, it's so disappointing to not have homemade crust when all they make is pies! Their crust is fully cooked but it doesn't have that nice yummy browning you'd expect from a premium, homemade pie. Glad we tried it to see what the hype is about, and if we happened to be in the area we might grab a slice of the key lime. But overall it was kinda disappointing. read more

It's a teeny tiny little store front that serves pies. Just pies. PIES PIES PIES! Cream pies, fruit pies, alllllll pies. They even have chicken pot pie you can take home and bake for $15. The teeny tiny store has two teeny tiny tables inside and a couple outside when it's nice. We usually just buy and run. The pies are GREAT. You can buy a slice for a tad over $4.00, or you can go whole hog and buy a pie for $22 - $27. Ohhhhh myyyyy goshhhh you say you can buy a pie from Mrs.Smith's at Safeway for $5? I guess you can, and sometimes I do, but you can have a frozen pie, or you can have a deeeelicious, freshhhh, home cooked, quality ingredients fancy schmancy PIE GODDESS pie! Her pies are hand crafted goodness that envelop everything you might hope and expect from this superior desert. The size cant be topped. The flavors are exact. Dear Pie Goddess, I love you! Your Chicken Pot Pie is to die for! So is your Butterscotch Lush, and I don't even LIKE butterscotch (good lord, what has happened to me??)!. The last time I went in, I found out you will do special order savory pies, and I think I may just keel over in ecstasy! I will be calling very soon, I promise. The time before, that, I had a great time in your extremely awesome smelling, quaint little shop talking with three women (total strangers, mind you) about our favorite kinds of pies, and what we were ordering. I've never been a "pie" person, always a "cake" girl, but you...YOU have shown me the light. I am a total convert and will never go back! P.S. I saw in one of the other reviews that the Chicken Pot Pie contains a lot of "fillers". Five stars = Chicken Pot Pie take home. Stuffed with hearty chicken, vegetables, true chicken stock flavor. I follow up with tons of black pepper, some additional salt. Flaky buttery crust. YUM! Five Stars = Butterfinger pie. Ohh so rich and complex layers. Graham cracker crust, whipped butterfinger filling, topped with a semi sweet chocolate shell on top. Three Stars = Banana creme pie. This fell flat for me. It lacked something that I'm not sure what. Probably not as sinful for those that are watching diets or diabetic. There's not much room to sit and eat, but pretty much every pie served here is excellent and well worth seeking out. Our family favorites are the cherry almond crunch, chocolate lush, sour cream apple pie, and blackberry. One notable exception mentioned by another reviewer is lemon lush pie, a delicious oatmeal crust egregiously let down by a filling with more yellow food coloring than lemon flavor or tartness. If not for the name and color, I would have guessed it was a bland, banana pie! Other than that, it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. I would give this place five stars if they revised the lemon lush or simply removed it from the menu. read more

Five of us were staying at the nearby Park Center Hotel and had seen the Pie Goddess while we were walking to dinner about a block away. When it came time for dessert someone suggested we stop by the pie place, but I figured at almost 9p at night it was probably closed. So I opted for a not-so-hot brownie sundae at our restaurant. Then on the way back to the hotel we walked past the Pie Goddess which was still open, a few customers sitting at the small tables inside. As we walked in I noticed the hours on the door which said they closed at 9p. "Are you about to close?" I asked. "It's my shop," said the woman behind the counter. "I can close whenever I want." Satisfied that we weren't keeping anyone late against their will, we started looking over the pies. There were a ton of them, and they all looked fantastic. We settled on tried the Tollhouse, apple, banana cream and marionberry. Most of us opted for ice cream. None of us were disappointed. My Tollhouse was as described; a gooey chocolate-chip cookie in pie form, heated and served a la mode. Fantastic. My friend is a fan of banana cream and told me he's never had better. Not only was the pie great, the owner was a delight. She was super friendly and chatted with us while we worked on our pies. When we left she sent us out the door with some free extra slices and a bunch of bumper stickers. If you're ever in town you owe it to yourself to stop by and have a slice. read more
