We went there for an early supper about 5pm neither of us had eaten all day and we were starving. First off I want to say that I used to compete in BBQ back a few years ago so I know BBQ and was a chef for over 40 years so I know the restaurant biz. I had draft beer from their wonderful selection and it was great. We got our food the sides the smoked mac & cheese and the smokehouse beans were really good I had French Fries and the smokehouse beans the fries were fresh cut but limp I guessed they only cooked them from raw and didn't blanch fry them then cool them cook them till crispy. As I said before the beans were really good. On to the meat my wife's smoked chicken was great, moist tender, a fair amount of smoke, and enough salt. I had the half slab of ribs with choice of of two I got pulled pork and the brisket. I don't know where where they get their ribs but normally a rack has 10-13 ribs my half had 4 bones we called those 8 bone cheater racks and where way overcooked I think they had them in the warmer so long they steamed and got mushy, the pulled pork was done well just needed more smoke and salt and the brisket was the same plus it suffered from the same over done problem as the ribs this is what led me to think it was kept in the warmer to long (first ones in last ones out) The portions were huge we had enough for a snack and sandwiches the next day. I know the problems of running a restaurant that is why I gave you 4 stars so we will be back hope it is better then this time. read more

I live in Memphis and every time I drive by Jackson, I make sure to go to my favorite barbecue place. No-this is not it-this is not even close to my favorite place. In general, everything was way too spicy and not in a good way. I ordered the dry ribs, with some mild sauce on the side. The sauce had a little bit of flavor, but the ribs were overwhelmed with way too much spice - The kind that people use to shock somebody without any flavor to it. If that's what you want, you can buy a cheap bottle of hot sauce. Personally, I like eating food from somebody who knows how to cook instead of someone who likes to shock you with a lot of taste tasteless spice. The beans were incredibly spicy and the sweeter mango salsa also spicy and not good. One red flag is that their main ribs are cooked with Pepsi! Who cooks with Soda other than kids? If I wanted H FCS in my food, I can go to a fast food restaurant or the supermarket. To top it off, you can't get a rack alone - it must come with the sides. The funny part is that the cashier try to defend it and that it is better with the sites, not realizing that she was dissing the ribs-that they suck without the sides. Ironically, the sides hurt the meal and cost more $$$. I think a full rack is $25 or $26. That's ridiculous, especially when you're pushing Pepsi-coated ribs. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. What made it more disappointing, is that the ribs were decent quality, so it was much more of a waste. FYI-my favorite place, including all my favorites in Memphis, is E and L BBQ. But, they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, so I tried this one. I won't be making that mistake twice. read more

We were just passing through Jackson and decided to stop for lunch. Yelp helped get us there and it was great. Its a cute converted gas station with seating inside and out. Its very busy so you know its got something going on. We had pulled pork and brisket, both perfect. You go to a separate bar to get beer, which had local brews that were good. read more

Yummy BBQ!! The atmosphere was very family friendly with games to occupy antsy kids. A man and woman who were high and out of their minds came onto the covered patio area and an employee promptly asked them to leave. They came back and were asked to leave again and the man yelled an inappropriate remark. The employee apologized for them. I would highly recommend this place for authentic southern food. I had pulled pork, cole slaw and fried green tomatoes. I would've given five stars but there was a tin of dirty silverware and napkins that hadn't been removed. read more

Holy crap! Jackson is always my go to place traveling from memphis to New Orleans. I usually go to the two sisters cafe but it was closed. This place was awesome. Try the brisket nachos. Vegetarians, try the fried green tomato tacos without meat. Try both desserts! Order at counter and they will bring you your food. I'll be back! read more

I just walked out and I'm in shock this place has such a great review. How is this good BBQ? I had the taco sampler and the wings. The wings were soggy, not smoky, not meaty, and the sauces were bland (got half Asian/half Memphis). The taco sampler came with one chicken, one brisket, and one pork. Of the three the only one that tasted like anything was the brisket. The pork and chicken had some smoke flavor but little else. It cost me $23 with tip for lunch and it is by far the worst value I've experienced this year. The people working there seemed nice but the food sucked. read more

I had high hopes for this place because I had heard good things. I ordered the pulled pork tacos. My boyfriend warned me that the tacos coming out didn't look good. There was barely any pulled pork in the tacos. What pulled pork was in the tacos, tasted like the cole slaw it was drowning in. After I removed most of the cole slaw, it still didn't help because the juice from the soggy cole slaw had already contaminated my little bit of pork. My boyfriend got a sampler platter that was astonishingly bland. The smoke was very mild. We checked out their smoker when we left and they were only using charcoal (at least it was natural lump charcoal). The only way to get flavor out of the meat was to add sauce. If you have to add sauce to your BBQ, then it isn't cooked well. Overpriced and disappointing. We won't be going back. read more

Solid brisket and fixings with good selection of beer on draft. Unfortunately they only had chopped left when I got there, so a bit dryer but still tasty. Their sauce is savory with a little tang, good medium consistency. The fried green tomatoes were magical. Maybe just because I was happy to be alive after a sketchy Uber ride, but the batter, crispness, and freshness were perfection even after they had sat there for awhile. The Pig & Pint is otherworldly good. They take barbecue (in the south, might I add) to a new level of sophisticated flavors. We had their award-winning ribs, coleslaw, baked beans, and fried green tomatoes. My boyfriend and I ordered take out I got fried boudin balls which tasted like grease and pulled pork with potato salad and side salad the potato salad was horrible they didn't give a lot of meat. My boyfriend got pulled pork fries and baked beans the baked beans were horrible. Needless to say we ate our pork shared his fries and my salad. I recently ordered 5 lbs of pulled pork and 5lbs of pulled chicken for a birthday party that was taking place that day. When I got home, I realized they had "forgotten" to put the barbq sauce in the bag. I called and was told that it is NOT included. I was seriously amazed. How can a barbq restaurant IN THE SOUTH not include barbq sauce. I asked for the manager and was told all managers were busy and I would have to email my complaint. Of course, I immediately returned to the establishment and was met with nothing short of rudeness. Upon them finally giving me the barbq sauce (1 serving cup for 10lbs of meat!!!!), I instructed the guy that I needed more at which time he SLAMMED a larger amount on the counter for me. Let's not mention that my job had just purchased $500 worth of gift certificates from this place a few weeks earlier. I will definitely be taking my money somewhere in the future. read more

Clean, nice atmosphere, very friendly staff. I had the brisket disco fries and my boyfriend had the brisket pork rind nachos. Our food came out pretty quick but was cold and soggy. The brisket was very tough and dry. The fries were piled high with all kinds of great toppings but had very little flavor. I feel as though it didn't really live up to the reviews. This was the worst restaurant that I have ever been to. The young manager claimed to have one of the best restaurants, but kept saying that I was purposely sending my food back to get something for free. After paying $17.42 for this plate, I clearly came to the conclusion that if you are not satisfied, the staff will be dissatisfied with you. Based on outstanding reviews, we thought this was a "don't miss" BBQ stop for our recent trip to Jackson, MS. We knew in advance that we were going for it all with their $50 grand champion sampler for 2. Sounded great on paper, pictures looked fine. Actual on the table, "you've got to be kidding me." For 2, one piece of bread about the size of a small biscuit. Three small slices of brisket. Enough pulled pork for one decent sized sandwich. A full rack of baby back ribs that were overcooked, slathered with forgettable sauce, and about the taste of the non-meat McRib sandwich that seems to resurface at times at McD's. The other meats, sparse and flavorless. Sides, red beans and rice. You've got to be kidding me. Folks in Louisiana would run you out of town for calling that side red beans and rice. Not good, tiny flavor. Cold Slaw, interesting mix but not a good mix. Kudos for the four slices of fried green tomatoes. Biggest waste of $60+ at a restaurant I've experienced in a long time. We would have been better off spending the money on gas and driving to Leatha's in Hattiesburg. On a scale of 0 to Leatha's, the Pig and Pint gets a 3. Leatha's is more than 10. It got worse the day after when our digestive tracks rebelled and punished us for the assault we unknowingly placed on them. Your mileage may vary but we won't be back. We willingly spend money for quality food but we absolutely rebel against spending large money for average food. We have had many many great meals here. Well, first time for takeout, and the stuff-I mean yesterdays left over meal was what was given us. Chicken dried up and burnt, pulled pork, dry strings of rope we couldn't eat!!! Ribs, burnt and dry!! All look like they had been left over a week or two and need less to say not a person had gloves or mask on when they gave them to my husband after he had to go in the restaurant to get the food. What happen to your social distancing?? We were trying to support one of our favorite places (use to be) during this crisis, and garbage is what we got!!! They sure didn't offer us great food like usual. I ask that people not go during this time if you expect even average food, cause you won't even get that! You will get dried up old cardboard and slaw that taste nasty!!! Ended up throwing it all out!! Wasn't going to take chances with this restaurant and the food they gave us to take home! If you want to stay away from the Virus, I suggest you stay away! I am terrified and have been away from everyone for 3 1/2 weeks and if I now get the virus it's this places fault!!! Stopped by for a quick bite on a cold March night while visiting Missisippi. Cool name, cool ambience and a nice selection of unique beers. I had the pork belly corn dog with the accompanying ginger jam. It was ok. I would return one day and try their other more elaborate barbecue dishes and a couple of beers.
