Pricey and coated with charcoal, you won't go hungry here, and they're quick and package well.

I was surprised (in a good way) that a fork, knife and spoon was automatically provided. Most restaurants only place a fork and knife on the table and I always have to request a spoon with my meal. This tissi had beautifully charred skin and tender, white meat. It was love at first bite. The chunk meat is fairly large and it will make a great leftover meal for the next day. As a bonus, a tall pitcher of complimentary chilled water is provided. This location only accepts cash, so please plan accordingly. As I was leaving, I unintentionally left a personal belonging on the restaurant table. My server stepped outside the restaurant and brought me my item. This is one of my better dining experiences from start to finish; the chef and servers clearly go above and beyond. #casaadela #halfrotisseriechicken

My favorite was the Chuletas Kan Kan special since the pork was crispy without being dry. They definitely make it fresh since I saw them picking out the piece of pork to cook once I had ordered it. Rice and beans are so flavorful. Soup and Cubano tasted great too. It's a small and popular restaurant, so they typically will ask you to wait outside until a table is ready. We came around 2pm on a holiday and had to wait 20-25 minutes in the cold, but it was well worth it. Servers are super nice and accommodating. Cash only!

Please believe the hype, this is your abuelas cooking. Arroz con gandules, pernil and sorullo with cheese and gauyaba was fire.

If you really think about it the Dominican food has taken over the Bx. I searched, and found this place. The moment you step in you are greeted with the warmest blessings. The 2 beautiful people that worked there made our time there so memorable. The food was out of this world let me tell you. Also, I will say it is AFFORDABLE. portion size was huge and the place was so CLEAN. Food: Pernil: 10/10 flavorful and tender Yellow (arroz con gandules) and Black rice with the beans: 10/10 both were good and couldn't even decide which one was better Pulpo 9/10 : fresh and tangy, cut into small pieces so you can top it on your rice Alcapurrias: 8/10 great and made differently then what I'm used to but it was sooo good I'd come again for this alone Juices: Ask them to try the juices and they will let you. We tried it all. Came home with passion fruit (parcha) and guyaba (guanabana) Delicious 10/10 It was so fresh and they don't add too much ice so you get all the juice taste. All in all I'm coming here from now on. A true BX staple for the community and a true essence of the Bori pride resides here. If you miss PR, come here.

Earlier this year, I overheard the man who I thought could be the owner telling another customer that foot traffic had slowed down since the implementation of congestion pricing, and they weren't sure they were going to keep the place open past the end of May because they weren't making as much money at this location as they had previously. Well, they're still open, but it seems like since the place isn't a moneymaker, it's no longer a priority. I've only been back a handful of times since then because they seem to be taking shortcuts in an effort to save dough. The arroz con gandules is mushy and flavorless; the chicharron are small and dry; the serving of beans is literally two teaspoons of beans and the rest of the (downsized) container is cooking liquid. Every time I go back hoping for a delicious meal, I'm sorely disappointed. Today I found a piece of raw chicken mixed into my vegetables. Turned my stomach immediately. Now I'm just hoping I don't end up with salmonella.

I'd definitely recommend making a reservation because seating is limited, and otherwise you could be in for a pretty long wait. As for the food, I found it a bit saltier than my personal preference, but that's ultimately a matter of taste. I'm still really happy to have a spot like this in Gowanus serving authentic Puerto Rican food. The menu has a great variety of dishes, so I'd absolutely recommend stopping by and giving it a try.

There was a lot going on and I did have to wait a few minutes for her to be able to greet me and get me to a table. Really the server was being pulled in multiple directions all night; she genuinely was doing her best but it was all too much for one person. There is a wide selection of food, unfortunately everyone at my table found our dishes to be on the salty side. There are tables and a booth as well as tvs. Would like to revisit on a day/night where it isn't so busy, but I wasn't overwhelmed with my experience.
